00:08for the Feast of Santo Niño de Tondo on Saturday, January 17.
00:13The Lakbayo is an annual religious street dancing procession
00:17where devotees venerate the image of Santo Niño or the Child Jesus.
00:22The image of Santo Niño de Tondo left the church at 7.10am
00:26and will make its way around several streets across the village
00:29before interning right here at the Minor Basilica Archdiocese and Shrine Parish of Tondo.
00:36Over 70 groups, tribes, and schools participated in this year's religious event.
00:42During the 6.00am mass, before the procession,
00:45Father Geronimo Reyes in his homily reminded the devotees to be natural and sincere
00:51in their prayers and intentions as they face the image of Santo Niño.
00:56Reyes also stressed the importance of the Santo Niño in the town's rich history.
01:02The image of Santo Niño de Tondo is the second oldest in the country dating back to 1572.
01:09The oldest image of the Child Jesus is the one in Cebu, which dates back to 1521.
01:15Some of the devotees told us that the parade is not just a show of their devotion,
01:19but also a family tradition.
01:23The Feast of Santo Niño is held every third Sunday of January
01:26and the one here in Tondo is just one of the many simultaneously held across the country.
