00:00Домinated the first 17 and a half minutes out gained by 135 yards.
00:05They don't have any first downs yet.
00:07They are 63 yards and an extra point away from the tie game.
00:13It's hard to believe as much as Seattle has dominated this first half.
00:18I mean, it's a one possession game.
00:22And it's the best that San Francisco can hope for at this point.
00:26Here's Kittle trying to get him involved.
00:28Trying to keep their defense off the field for a minute.
00:31We'll go down to Lisa.
00:32Yeah, Joe, you mentioned how Carl Shanahan said a win tonight would give the 49ers the best chance of getting to the Super Bowl.
00:38Would also mean they could get to the Super Bowl without ever having to get on an airplane again this season.
00:44George Kittle said, we're a West Coast team, so no matter who we play, unless it's in the division,
00:48we have to fly for at least three hours, which takes its toll on your body.
00:52So he said, if we can just figure it out tonight for guys who are struggling through things,
00:56this game means so much and would set us up for so much success down the road.
01:01Yeah, there's no doubt about it.
01:02If they were to get there and win it, it would take a streak of ten wins in a row.
01:07Here's a nice catch.
01:09McCaffrey into Seattle territory and a first down for San Francisco.
01:13A really nice job by Christian McCaffrey.
01:17He comes out of the backfield, which you see him do a lot.
01:20This offense runs through him.
01:21Even the passing game, for that matter, runs through him.
01:24It looked like he initially indicated he might be helping out in protection.
01:28He's able to slide inside, get a quick pass, and pick up the first down.
01:33Just really great execution, knowing that Brock Purdy just simply cannot sit back there and hold the football.
01:3949ers' first first down of the ballgame.
01:43Purdy setting it up for Jennings.
01:46And he is wrestled to the ground by Rick Wollin,
01:48who has played so much better in the second half of this season for Seattle.
01:53A pro bowler as a rookie coming on in the loss of one.
01:56Yeah, Joe, it's one of the reasons why Mike McDonald started to use more of the six defensive backs,
02:02is to get Rick Wollin on the field.
02:05Because Josh Jobe, the starter, he won the job in camp.
02:09He has been the starter.
02:11And Rick Wollin, he gets on the field for the most part when they do go with the six defensive backs.
02:16And it's a formidable group.
02:19And Rick Wollin, he's made some nice plays already here in his first half.
02:22It helps that they can get pressure with a four-man rush.
02:24His Purdy cannot complete with Jennings, who was hit and maybe hurt.
02:31But Drake Thomas was there defending, and Jennings is able to get up.
02:39And will head to the sideline after this.
02:44Well, Jawan Jennings, you see Drake Thomas, he comes up and puts the hit on him.
02:47And the way in which he lands, and this guy is Jawan Jennings, he's as tough as they come.
02:54And he has played through so much this year to get on the field.
02:58He likes a physical style of football, but just was not expecting that kind of hit.
03:03You can see the pain within his face, the grimace that he has.
03:08Well, he's been playing through broken ribs.
03:11He broke five of them early in the season.
03:13And he's wincing after hitting the ground hard.
03:18Good play by Drake Thomas.
03:20It's third and 11.
03:22Purdy.
03:24Sneaks through.
03:26Gets to the edge.
03:28And he's going to be out of bounds.
03:30Short of first down yardage by a yard is Ty Okada,
03:34who's making the start for the injured Kobe Bryant.
03:37Second straight week for that.
03:39Made the stop.
03:40And it's fourth down and one.
03:42But, yeah, that's just a great job by Brock Purdy.
03:45And that's the element that we've seen from him,
03:47especially as the season has gone along.
03:49We talked about the toe injury and how that limited him when he first came back.
03:54But you can tell each week it's gotten more and more healthy.
03:57And he's been able to create a lot of plays with his legs.
04:00And there was no doubt coming into this game against this defense.
04:03That's a viable weapon for San Francisco.
04:08It's fourth down and one.
04:09And timeout is taken by Mike McDonald, I believe, on the sideline.
04:14He's out on the field.
04:15And that will be their second.
04:20Second charge timeout.
04:22His defense is the second best in the league.
04:28He's got the challenge flag in his hand.
04:30I thought he challenged the play.
04:33They called that he asked for the timeout.
04:36Let's take a look.
04:37Yeah, no, he challenged, I think, the spot of the football.
04:40Right, Russell?
04:41I mean, it certainly looks like he's throwing a challenge flag there.
04:44It doesn't look inadvertent.
04:46But I'm sure that's what he's trying to tell the official.
04:49He didn't mean to throw the challenge flag, meant to call a timeout.
04:52Yeah, right after he threw the flag, I think he turned to the official and signaled timeout.
04:56Yeah, it's too late.
04:58I mean, if you do throw a challenge flag and the officials judge that you intentionally wanted to throw the challenge flag,
05:04you have to stick with it.
05:05Well, I mean, you see where Purdy is.
05:08He's a couple of yards short of the first down.
05:10Now, I will add, that wouldn't be reviewable because the spot is only reviewable in relation to line to gain,
05:19and he was short either way.
05:22Well, it is fourth down and one instead of what could have been fourth down and two
05:26with where Purdy stepped out.
05:29Play action from Purdy.
05:31Time running out.
05:32He's able to get rid of it.
05:33Incomplete.
05:35Seahawks ball.
05:35With Hughes check, the target, and pressure from DeMarcus Lawrence.
05:47And Seattle's defense has allowed just one first down in this ballgame.
05:53Reek Wollin made that defensive play.
05:56Seahawks ball.
05:56Be on the move.
06:00Sit down.
06:02Be on the move.
06:02We call showdown.
06:03We get you ready for that and all the games with playoff stakes.
06:06Plus, we're one-on-one with Trevor Lawrence.
06:08And if I'll count down, 10 a.m. Eastern.
06:10Joe, back to you.
06:11All right, Graney, thank you.
06:13We'll be looking forward to that.
06:15You know that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers will be glued to their TVs.
06:22Субтитры делал DimaTorzok
06:52Here's Jackson Smith and Jigba and the route that he runs they're trying to get attention to him with coverage and yet the ball is just perfectly thrown but when Sam Darnold is able to use play action and when he has the protection like he did on that play and he has been good all year long and there are going to be a lot of big plays if they can't get to him any better than that.
07:15Darnold showing and reminding everybody why the Seahawks want to get him in free agency.
07:24They traded Geno Smith for a third round pick to the Raiders.
07:27They signed Sam Darnold to be their quarterback.
07:30Three-year deal.
07:31Coming off that great year with the Vikings it didn't end well but here he is with his team looking for their 14th win of the year.
07:40Yeah he's been really good and as we mentioned coming in and all Seahawks fans know that the Achilles heel for him really throughout his career even going back to when he was at USC has been the turnovers.
07:50And you know ultimately when you get into games like this with teams that are so closely matched it's the turnovers that you just cannot afford at any time.
07:59Here's Kenneth Walker hit the line hard got the handoff on second down and picks up four and just to finish and not leave that hanging.
08:08We know that Tampa Bay won 16-14 at home over Carolina but they'll be watching tomorrow because if the Saints win Tampa Bay goes to the playoffs.
08:20If the Falcons beat the Saints Carolina goes to the playoffs.
08:24Yeah and Tampa Bay thought that this game earlier today would have been a winner take all because no one thought that Atlanta would be able to beat the LA Rams last week.
08:35So they made it interesting with that win third down and for Donald in trouble out he goes and he's going to roll with a first down a little more athletic than he gets credit for.
08:51He needed to use his legs and he gets another five yards and a first down and Sala he brings the blitz he brings five guys that shows it and then when Donald he gets up in the pocket and this is the other side of him
09:04that people don't talk a whole lot about people don't think of Sam Darnold as being a scrambler but both he and Brock Purdy capable of making plays with their legs.
09:13D Winters is down was grabbing his ankle they'll check him we'll take a break first down Seattle.
09:21D Winters leg got stepped on by left tackle Josh Jones 6'7 3'39".
09:28and it's just good to see winners able to get up and get off the field under his own power but he'll go into the medical tents it was not pretty.
09:36No it was not Joe and you just you have to ask just how many blows can this San Francisco team take.
09:42You know we saw Juwan Jennings come off the field battling through the broken ribs and everything else that he's had this year.
09:49what his status is going to be going forward I imagine we'll see him but there's Nick Bosa who went down earlier in the year along with Fred Warner
09:58and seeing some more players for them get injured in this one.
10:09On first down Walker is able to take it to the 25 a gain of six where Jair Brown made the tackle.
10:19And Walker lost his shoe.
10:22Joe they're just getting so much movement up front this offensive line and you know they've been they've been okay throughout the year.
10:29They're not a dominant offensive front.
10:31This San Francisco defensive line though they've they've had their issues but tonight Seattle has taken it to them.
10:40All four Seahawks positions have gotten inside the San Francisco 30.
10:45So far just seven points.
10:47Here's Walker again shoe back on another first down.
10:52And a flag is dropped in the middle of the defensive formation.
10:59Holding offensive to 76.
11:02Then no penalty.
11:03He can't suck it up.
11:04So against a rookie left guard Gray Zabel.
11:12He's able to get up to the second level.
11:14Initially I thought that he made a made a good block but they're a little hook and turn.
11:22And he gets called for.
11:23That's about been about the only thing that has slowed them down.
11:28Third hold of the year for the rookie Zabel as he took down Tatum McBoon.
11:33Who has the only sack tonight for the 49ers.
11:40Second and 11.
11:44Dangerous throw.
11:45But able to get it to the tight end A.J.
11:47Porter.
11:50With Jason Pinnock right there.
11:52And it's third down.
11:53Yeah you're right Joe.
11:54You know we were watching it from up here.
11:56You could just tell that if that ball is thrown even slightly behind.
12:00Pinnock was right there.
12:02To make a play.
12:03And there would be nobody out in front of him.
12:05You got to be perfect when you're making this throw.
12:07With a guy running away from you in tight coverage.
12:09But Sam Darnold dials it up.
12:13Third and six.
12:14Third and six.
12:14Darnold backpedaling.
12:27Takes a shot.
12:28It's broken up.
12:30No flags as Jackson Smith and Jake.
12:33But was covered by Renardo Green and Jair Brown.
12:36Fourth down.
12:39Little stutter move on the outside.
12:41Renardo Green.
12:42It looked like initially Njigba has a chance.
12:46There's the double move.
12:47And he gets the separation.
12:49And just a ball that didn't come out quite on time.
12:52And get out there far enough.
12:53Jair Brown he showed great range.
12:56He was in the middle of the field to be able to get over the top.
12:59To make a play as well.
13:0045 yard dry now by Myers.
13:03And Myers after the 47 yard miss is able to hit.
13:14And this is a 10 to nothing game.
13:19The number one seed on the line.
13:22One win away.
13:23One of these two teams is from a bye next week in the NFC West title.
13:2810 zips to go.
13:33Take a look at what's at stake here.
13:35The winner gets the number one seed.
13:37And they have the division championship.
13:39And most importantly the bye next week.
13:42Seahawks lose.
13:43They're the number five seed.
13:44If the 49ers lose.
13:46They're either the five or the six.
13:47Depending on what the Rams do at home tomorrow against Arizona.
13:51Still just a 10 point game.
14:00Just over five to go in the half.
14:02And the ball will come out to the 40 as Myers.
14:05Free kick out of bounds.
14:07Kicking team number five.
14:09Ball in place at the 40 yard line.
14:11First down.
14:13On this windy night.
14:14A mistake by Myers.
14:16And we look at the wild card weekend.
14:19Saturday.
14:19Saturday.
14:21You've got games on CBS.
14:23Fox.
14:24Or maybe Prime Video.
14:26Sunday.
14:27Same drill.
14:28And then Monday night.
14:29We will come along with the end of wild card weekend.
14:33With a game at 8 o'clock Eastern on ESPN and ABC.
14:4149ers with just 39 yards of offense.
14:45McCaffrey three touches.
14:4713 yards.
14:48That's it.
14:48They're trying to set up a screen for Kittle.
14:51And the play is made by Eamon Warren.
14:54He's locked up in man coverage on Kittle.
15:08So here he is.
15:09He's just staring at Kittle.
15:11And they're hoping, the 49ers are hoping they can get a blocker out on him.
15:14And if you do, when you catch man coverage, if you do block the guy who's in man coverage,
15:18you're going to have a big play.
15:19But even Worry, he just reads it.
15:21They're not able to get to him.
15:23And Kittle has no chance once he catches the football.
15:25Seahawks showing everybody just how good this defense is.
15:29Second and 16.
15:3049ers came rolling into this game on offense.
15:32And not much here with McCaffrey as Devin Witherspoon makes the play.
15:39It'll be third and long.
15:40And this defense is just so good.
15:42They're playing coverage.
15:43They rush four.
15:44And they've got three guys underneath.
15:47And you just see the way in which they're able to react.
15:51Witherspoon right here.
15:52Watch once he just is reading the quarterback.
15:55And he knows that McCaffrey's coming out of the backfield.
15:58And as soon as he catches the football, bam, he's right there to make a play.
16:01Third down and 10.
16:06Their last three third downs have all been for nine yards or more.
16:10Purdy keeping it alive and able to complete to Jennings.
16:14And a much-needed first down for San Francisco.
16:17As Purdy shows off his ability to get out of trouble.
16:21Yeah.
16:22And they had two receivers in the same area, which you never want.
16:26And that was really all Brock Purdy.
16:27Because here they come.
16:29And it looked like they were going to get home.
16:31He's able to step up in the pocket.
16:33Keep his eyes down the field.
16:34And then on the other end of that, you're going to see that they've got two 49ers right over there on the boundary.
16:44But at least somebody caught it.
16:45And they converted their first third down.
16:47Here is a handoff to Brian Robinson.
16:52His first touch of the night.
16:54And a decent pickup on first down of six.
16:57Brandon Peely, who was inactive at the Carolina game last week, was there to make the stop.
17:03Well, they're knocking on the door at least.
17:06And with any points, they've got bigger ideas than just three points.
17:12But yet, with it being a 10-0 ball game, as much as Seattle has dominated this first half,
17:18to be able to cut it to a one-possession game, hopefully hold Seattle,
17:22they get a chance getting the ball to start the third quarter as well.
17:2618, watch out!
17:27Second down and four.
17:29Pressure on Purdy has to jump to get rid of it.
17:33What an effort by Kittle for the first down.
17:36A jump pass from Purdy and a five-yard pickup
17:39with the Marcus Lawrence bearing down on the San Francisco quarterback.
17:44And this is why, when you run the boots as a right-handed quarterback,
17:47you want to come out this way so you can get the ball out of your hand.
17:51You've got to expect pressure as soon as you come off that ball fake.
17:55Purdy recognizes it.
17:57He's able to pull up immediately and get the ball out.
18:00Great effort by Kittle, as well as Purdy getting it in his hands.
18:04Kick in! Kick in!
18:06That's 13!
18:0813!
18:1013!
18:13We're at the two-minute warning.
18:16Well, it's a 10-0 game.
18:18Seattle on top.
18:19They had a chance for more than that so far,
18:22and now the 49ers are on the move.
18:25First down for San Francisco, down 10.
18:28And we come back.
18:33Coming up on the All-State Halftime, first-half takeaways with SVP.
18:37Ryan Clark and Jason Kelsey.
18:40Panthers and Bucs highlights.
18:42Reaction to that game.
18:4416-14 win for Tampa Bay,
18:47but they have not wrapped up the NFC South yet.
18:50They need help tomorrow from the Saints.
18:53Otherwise, it's Carolina getting in.
18:56There's the offense.
18:57Darnold, Cup, Shahid,
19:00and Moore talking about it on the sideline
19:02while the 49ers have it.
19:03Three timeouts, two minutes left.
19:10McCaffrey trying to get him going.
19:12Not much.
19:15Again.
19:16You see most career receptions in 49ers history.
19:25He just moved in front of Terrell Owens with 593, George Kittle.
19:31Now seven-time Pro Bowl tight end, two-time All-Pro playing great at the age of 32.
19:38With that catch a moment before the two-minute warning and a first-down pickup.
19:42Yeah, nobody's going to be catching Jerry Ryan.
19:47This is everybody's touching the ball.
19:49They come underneath with a shorter completion of McCaffrey.
19:54But a decent pickup.
19:56Third down coming up after a gain of four.
19:59Well, that was close on that boundary.
20:01That was a big-time hit as McCaffrey was going out.
20:03But you look at it, Joe, the 49ers,
20:06I mean, they're having to earn every single inch in this game.
20:10The Seattle defense, I mean,
20:11they have just been absolutely dominant.
20:13They have played well throughout this year and tonight especially.
20:17And this is not the game where you want to be without
20:20your All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams.
20:25Instead, it's Austin Pleasance making the start at left tackle.
20:29Purdy.
20:31Lawrence was coming off the edge,
20:32and Purdy has dropped its fourth down.
20:35Uchenna Noosu made that stop.
20:37No gain.
20:40It'll go down as a sack.
20:42And the decision from Kyle Shanahan,
20:45he's going to leave his offense out there for the moment.
20:47Yeah, an interesting decision.
20:48I think I would take the points and try to cut it to a one-possession game.
20:51But there's just nowhere to go with the football.
20:53The protection wasn't bad.
20:55And that's the thing that Seattle has really done a nice job of.
20:58How many times do you watch San Francisco and the scheme that Shanahan runs
21:03creates all this air within the defense and within the coverage in this
21:07secondary along with that pass rush is just so good at just snuffing out
21:12everything that Kyle Shanahan has not had any answers for Mike McDonald in this
21:16defense.
21:17McDonald and the Seahawks took the timeout.
21:19And while the two teams were standing around,
21:23Kyle Shanahan sent his field goal unit out there,
21:26and he's going to get Eddie Pinheiro to try it from 48.
21:30Yeah, you hope your defense can make a stop here with a minute and ten to go in
21:33the half.
21:34But you just have to come away with some points at this time.
21:44Good snap.
21:45Good hold.
21:46And on this windy night, the first points of the night for the 49ers,
21:51now down by seven.
21:53Strong kick from Pinheiro.
21:56And we'll welcome you inside the broadcast booth.
21:58I'm Joe Buck.
21:59That's Troy Aikman.
22:00Troy, you were involved in a game similar to this where you played at the end of
22:04the year, last game of the year, against the Giants.
22:08Right.
22:08And, well, you guys won and ended up winning the Super Bowl back in 93.
22:12Yeah, there's a lot at stake.
22:14We won the game, got the bye, ended up winning the Super Bowl.
22:16The Giants were able to go on the road that next week and win, and then they lost
22:20ultimately in the divisional round to the 49ers.
22:24But, you know, both these teams, you look at the division alone and what a battle it
22:28has been with the Rams and Seattle and now San Francisco.
22:31And you come into week 18 with a chance to get the number one seed in a first round buy.
22:36I mean, they're emptying their bucket here tonight.
22:38It is going to be a real challenge for the loser of this game to have an opportunity to
22:44make an impact in the postseason, at least in my opinion.
22:48And then at six remaining, we saw D Winters head into the locker room.
22:57We'll get an update here in a moment from Lisa.
22:59Seahawks have no timeouts.
23:04Here is Rasheed Shahid on the return.
23:09A great pickup by John Schneider in the front office for Seattle from the Saints.
23:14Lisa, what do you have on D Winters?
23:16Yeah, Joe, he came out of the blue medical tent.
23:18He was looking around up and down the sidelines for a couple of minutes, trying to test out
23:22that left ankle, but ultimately, as you said, headed back to the locker room with the medical
23:27staff.
23:28They were working on his left ankle.
23:30They say he's questionable to return.
23:33Got stepped on by Josh Jones.
23:37And now Darnold back to work with no timeout.
23:41D'Amador Lenore across from Jackson Smith and Jigba and wrapped up and brought down as Darnold.
23:56Second sack of the night for the 49ers, and it's Sam Okuwanu.
24:04It's the four-man rush, and they're able to just collapse the pocket.
24:07But if Okuwanu, he comes off the edge, but it's because of the pressure inside there that
24:14makes him fall into it.
24:18It's a great job, and it's something San Francisco defensively needed.
24:22Surprised that San Francisco didn't call a timeout.
24:26They had three.
24:28Darnold just able to get rid of it to Barner.
24:31Third down coming up.
24:33Pressure on that play by Okuwanu, who just hadn't sat.
24:36And I guess San Francisco is just willing to leave well enough alone here.
24:40No question, Joe.
24:42You look at this game.
24:43It's a one-possession game.
24:44They've had 60 yards of offense.
24:46I mean, they would be thrilled to go in and be down just seven points, which is going to be the case.
24:52That's a big win for San Francisco as badly as they've been dominated here in this first half.
24:58Let's go down to Lisa Salters and Kyle Shanahan.
25:03Kyle, you get the ball to start the second half, but what's been slowing down your offense?
25:07We've got three and out, two drives, and we didn't convert a third down until that last drive, though.
25:11So we've got one converted third down, led to points.
25:14We've got to make sure to stay on the field longer.
25:16They're doing a good job controlling it.
25:17We start tackling a little bit better on defense, and I don't think that'll happen.
25:20Yeah, what does your defense need to do better to slow down their offense?
25:23They need to tackle better.
25:25I love the way it's been going, the fact that we've only held them to 10.
25:28We've gotten fortunate with that, but we've got to tackle better and start moving the ball in 0.
25:31All right, thank you.
25:32Thank you.
25:33Kyle Shanahan in year number nine.
25:37He's taking his 49ers to a couple of Super Bowls, trying to get the number one seed tonight.
25:4249ers get the ball to start the second half.
25:44Stay tuned.
25:45All-state halftime comes your way next.
25:49Let's go.
25:49It's prohibited.
25:53Tonight's first half highlights are presented by Target.
25:57It's the battle for the top spot in the conference.
26:00Walker still on his feet and rumbling down inside the 40.
26:04End zone broken up, incomplete.
26:06Seahawks turn it over on down.
26:08Charbonnet.
26:09He's got it, and plenty more.
26:11Touchdown, Seattle.
26:12Charbonnet, you're not going to win that battle.
26:14At Target, wellness is perfectly picked for you.
26:21At the end of the first half, Laura Rutledge caught up with head coach Mike McDonald of the Seahawks.
26:29Thank you, Joe.
26:31Mike, you've been dominant when it comes to the run game as well as an edge in time of possession, but how do you get more points on the board in the second half?
26:38Yeah, some of those drives and plus territory are kind of self-inflicted penalties.
26:42So let's just keep, or self-inflicted plays.
26:44So let's just keep it moving forward.
26:45We had a penalty, a sack there in the fringe.
26:48Guys are doing a great job.
26:49Just take it one play at a time.
26:50All right, thank you, Mike.
26:51Thanks, Laura.
26:52Joe.
26:52All right, Laura.
26:53Well, his team leads by seven.
26:57They dominated that first half, brought a one-score game, and the 49ers about to get the ball here to start the second half.
27:05This kick stays in bounds, and it's dropped and dribbled by Robinson, who's having all kinds of trouble and can barely get across the 10.
27:14That was a mess.
27:16And now we'll welcome you inside the broadcast booth, Joe Buck and the Hall of Famer, Troy Aikman.
27:21And I'll just simply ask you, if you're Kyle Shanahan, what are you telling your team at the half?
27:26What adjustments need to be made?
27:27Well, not a lot of good things happened there in that first half.
27:30You look at Christian McCaffrey, three carries, seven yards.
27:32Brock Purdy's under a lot of pressure.
27:34I know how Kyle Shanahan thinks, and my belief is that he's going to come out, even though they haven't run the ball well.
27:39They've got to run the ball.
27:41They've got to try to get it to third and manageable, and they've got to convert on third down.
27:46So that they can continue to run the football.
27:48And they do run here with McCaffrey.
27:50He's got a little bit of room in one of his better runs for five.
27:53You know, coming into this game, we knew that was going to be the matchup.
27:56You've got the number one offense converting on third down in San Francisco versus the number one third down defense in Seattle.
28:04And Seattle dominated that.
28:06And so I know Kyle Shanahan, he wants to run the ball.
28:09The last five games, they've had 30 rushing attempts or more.
28:13That's the number he would like to hit tonight.
28:15They're not going to, but they can certainly run it better than what they did in the first half and at least make it manageable and convert on third down.
28:23Here is McCaffrey again, and he got hit hard.
28:28Ernest Jones in there to make the stop.
28:31A gain of one, and third down and four is the result.
28:34Yeah, so that's not great because you come out on first down, and you have a nice pickup.
28:40You run it again, and you only get the one yard.
28:42So now they're looking at third and four, but still, that's okay.
28:46But they've had a hard time converting anything.
28:48They just converted one of five in that first half, and that's why it's not gone well for them.
28:55In order for them to get more rushing attempts, they've got to convert on third down.
28:59Third down and four.
29:00Purdy, sideline, catch is made.
29:03That's DeMarcus Robinson.
29:06And a conversion for San Francisco, a completion of 13 yards.
29:10But, again, Brock Purdy, who's under pressure.
29:13I mean, he's under siege back there, and that is not fun for a quarterback.
29:17I mean, you're rushing everything.
29:19He knows his internal clock is going so fast right now, and this ball comes out high.
29:25And on the other end for Robinson, he knows when he catches this and has to leave his feet,
29:30he's going to get blown up before he hits the ground because this secondary,
29:34they just do not give you anything.
29:36Play action from Purdy.
29:39He comes underneath and able to complete to McCaffrey in a gain of about eight to number 23
29:47with Drake Thomas draped all over him after the catch.
29:50The other part of this, Joe, don't forget, Ricky Pearsall is not in uniform tonight.
29:55He's injured, and he was the one guy that could get down the field
29:59and at least try to stretch this defense.
30:01So, a big loss not having him in the game, and without that, they are able to clamp down even more.
30:09Right now, they're all within 10 yards of the ball.
30:13Lay action from Purdy.
30:15He's got Kittle, and he's got a first down.
30:17So, that becomes the game that they're playing right now.
30:21You run the ball, try to get it to manageable third downs.
30:26If you are going to throw it, get the ball out of Purdy's hands quickly
30:29and see if maybe you can make somebody miss.
30:32But I used to play against the Eagles back in the day, and they were this kind of defense, and it's hard.
30:40And then you've got to hope that your own defense can step up and make some plays,
30:44which they were able to do, even though some of that was self-inflicted,
30:47as we heard Mike McDonald talk about.
30:51On first down, Robinson is brought down by Moffitt,
30:57who crashed down from the end, a gain of three.
31:00To the 45, and it's second and seven.
31:04Sorry, Joe.
31:04This is just a flat-out heavyweight fight.
31:07I mean, it really is.
31:08And so, anybody watching this at home, you realize what I said earlier.
31:14Whoever loses this game, to try to come off of this game tonight
31:19and what you have to expend physically and come back and play next week,
31:26it is going to be hard for either one of these teams,
31:28especially hard for San Francisco, as beat up as they are.
31:31What's up?
31:33Second down and seven.
31:35Purdy is set.
31:39Jaron Reed.
31:41Year number 10 for the 33-year-old, and a loss of seven.
31:47Third down and long.
31:48Yeah.
31:48A little pressure off the edge, and you're going to see it coming from both sides,
31:53but Purdy, the pocket inside, isn't too bad.
31:56If he just kind of slides up steady, he kind of runs into Jaron Reed,
32:01and so Reed then gets the sack, but that goes back.
32:04It's easy for me to say from up here.
32:06When you're down on the field and you've been under such heavy pass rust like Purdy has been,
32:11it's hard to trust anything at this point.
32:15A little Michael Bennett tribute from Jaron Reed.
32:19Time runs out.
32:20The ball goes right into the grass.
32:21Pressure by Eamon Warwick.
32:25And what looked to be a promising start to the first possession of the second half
32:29comes crashing to an end with the Seahawks defense clamping down.
32:34Watch number 13 here, Ernest Jones, and this is what I'm talking about with their defense.
32:38They just read concepts, and they drive on things, and they pick it up.
32:42So they play zone coverage, but as soon as you come into their area,
32:45they pick you up as though they're in man,
32:48and there's just not places to go with the football,
32:51and that's a big hit that Purdy just took.
32:55A punt by Morstead.
32:57Shahid from inside the 20.
33:01Cold ball returner.
33:03Good return across the 35.
33:05A 20-yard return by Shahid,
33:10who has both a punt return and a kick return for a touchdown this year.
33:15Only player in the league that can say that.
33:18Bay Bridge, the great city of San Francisco,
33:20here in Santa Clara.
33:22Seahawks ball upset.
33:26An early second half reminder,
33:28the winner of this game gets the number one seed.
33:30They win the NFC West.
33:31They get a wild card round by.
33:32If it's the Seahawks losing, they're the number five seed.
33:35If it's the 49ers losing tonight,
33:38they're the number five seed.
33:39If the Rams lose to the Cardinals,
33:42they're the number six seed if the Rams win
33:43at home against Arizona.
33:47Mike McDonald is over meeting with his defense,
33:49and you talked about the improvement they made
33:52from last year to this year.
33:54Same when he was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore
33:56for John Harbaugh.
33:58Year one to year two,
34:00they were dominant.
34:03And he's doing it again now as a head coach.
34:05As Walker makes the catch.
34:07Brought down by Eric Kendricks in a game of just two.
34:09Yeah, I agree, Joe.
34:10And in addition to what he's been able to do
34:13as far as just being an outstanding defensive mind,
34:16I think John Schneider, the GM,
34:17has done a great job as well.
34:19You bring in a guy like DeMarcus Lawrence,
34:21you have the draft that they have with Nick Eamon-Warri
34:24and what we've seen out of him.
34:26And, I mean, it's a talented group.
34:27They've done a good job of putting this roster together.
34:30They got rid of the guys after last year
34:32that they didn't fit,
34:33that they didn't think fit the culture.
34:36And I know Mike McDonald absolutely loves this football team.
34:39Second down and eight.
34:44Trying to set up a screen for Walker.
34:45He's got a blocker in front.
34:47Walker's got a first down
34:48as big Gray Zabel just took care
34:51of the 49er defender
34:53and a gain of 13 on the catch and run.
34:56Yeah, Gray Zabel, he's done some nice things.
34:58There's a look at him as he pulls out
35:00and makes a nice block
35:02to help kind of lead the way.
35:04This is really how they get the ball
35:06to Kenneth Walker in the passing game.
35:08He's not a guy, he's not a Christian McCaffrey-type receiver,
35:11but they get the ball to him on checkdowns
35:13and little swing routes
35:14and screen plays like that out in space
35:17for those linemen like Zabel to block for him.
35:26Here's a toss to Walker right side.
35:31Nice job by Kenneth Walker
35:33to bounce off a tackler.
35:35He's got tight end Eric Saubert
35:37out in front of him
35:38and this is a wide receiver group.
35:41There's Jake Bobo,
35:42a wide receiver group
35:43that really blocks well in the run game.
35:46They sure do.
35:46We talk about these tight ends
35:48and the job that they do,
35:49but Jake Bobo,
35:50in fact, he's been so good
35:52at blocking that Sam Darnold has said,
35:55hey, can we put Bobo on the field
35:56and actually throw him the football?
35:58I mean, when he's on,
35:59everybody knows we're going to run it.
36:01But there's Utes, the fullback.
36:02He makes a big block.
36:04He's got five yards upfield
36:05before he's even touched.
36:09Second down and two.
36:12Walker is brought down
36:14at the line of scrimmage.
36:16Malik Mustafa made the play
36:19and it's third down and two.
36:21You watch Malik Mustafa.
36:24We've now got a Seahawk
36:25who's on the ground.
36:27That's Josh Jones
36:28who's starting for Charles Cross
36:30at left tackle.
36:32Well, that gets interesting
36:33if he's unable to go.
36:35He's been bothered by ankle
36:37and knee issues
36:38the last couple of weeks.
36:40And there's Amari Kite,
36:42the undrafted rookie free agent
36:44from Central Florida
36:45who was in line to start
36:47if Jones couldn't go.
36:50And he got hit from behind.
36:52Mustafa into the legs
36:54of Josh Jones.
36:56They check him.
36:57We'll take a break
36:58with Amari Kite,
37:00the rookie,
37:01into the game for Seattle.
37:05In 2022,
37:06Charles Cross out
37:07for the third straight game
37:08with a bad hamstring.
37:09Josh Jones started
37:10in his place
37:11for the third straight game.
37:13He left
37:14after that last play.
37:15He's in the medical tent.
37:17And Amari Kite,
37:18who's got two snaps total
37:19on offense,
37:20it came week four
37:21in Arizona,
37:22is into the ball game.
37:25And he's out at left tackle
37:26for Seattle.
37:29I got to believe
37:29the Seahawks
37:30are going to run the ball here
37:31and if they don't make it,
37:32they'll run it again on fourth.
37:35Charbonnet in the backfield.
37:38He gets it.
37:41He's tipped out
37:42and brought down.
37:43What a play by Lenore.
37:50And with that loss of five,
37:53it brings up fourth down
37:55and the punt team
37:55is about to come on.
37:56This is the play of the game
37:58for San Francisco defensively.
38:00Lenore, I mean,
38:01I've been watching Charbonnet
38:02since he was at UCLA.
38:04Nobody makes this tackle
38:05on him in the open field.
38:07I mean, he makes people miss
38:08like this
38:09each and every time.
38:12You can see the excitement there
38:13by defensive coordinators
38:14Robert Sala.
38:15That's a big-time play
38:16by a corner, no less,
38:18coming up and making
38:19an open field tackle
38:20at that moment in the game.
38:22Dixon hits the punt.
38:26And a fair catch
38:27called in by Sky Moore.
38:28That's another missed opportunity
38:29for Seattle.
38:30They missed a couple
38:31in the first half.
38:32They were driving.
38:33They had third and two.
38:34The ball inside the 40.
38:36And the play by
38:37D'Amador Lenore.
38:39First-year team captain.
38:41Year one of a five-year extension.
38:44Nick Bosa loving every second of them.
38:4649ers ball,
38:48still down seven.
38:4810-3 ball game.
38:546-47 to go third quarter
38:57and the 49ers will start
38:59inside their tent.
39:03I'm told that as a
39:04wolf moon, super moon.
39:07Sounds almost like
39:08a Pearl Jam song.
39:14Here's a handoff
39:15to McCaffrey, man.
39:16There is no room
39:17for the run game
39:18of the 49ers.
39:21This defense
39:22is number one
39:22in the league
39:23in yards per carry
39:25allowed at 3.7.
39:27And they're right
39:28on point tonight.
39:29It's a little reversal
39:30from what we saw
39:31week one.
39:32Week one,
39:32San Francisco
39:33moved the football.
39:34Didn't score a lot
39:35of points.
39:3517.
39:36And Seattle
39:37struggled to move
39:38the ball.
39:39And yet Seattle
39:40was inside the 10-yard line
39:41with under 40 seconds
39:42before Sam Darnold
39:43fumbled.
39:44And they lost that game.
39:46So San Francisco
39:46is hoping they can get
39:47into the fourth quarter
39:48late.
39:49And it'd be a
39:49one-possession game
39:50with a chance to win.
39:53Second down and seven.
39:55Decent protection
39:56as caught by McCaffrey.
40:00Third down and short
40:01coming up after a gain
40:02of five.
40:03You get the ball
40:04backed up the way
40:04that they did.
40:06And right now
40:07when you start
40:08this possession,
40:08you're just hoping
40:09for a first down
40:10and see if
40:11you're not even
40:12thinking about scoring.
40:13You're just trying
40:13to move the football
40:14and if nothing else,
40:16get enough yardage
40:17where you can flip
40:18field position
40:19and back up
40:20Seattle again
40:21offensively.
40:22So this is big.
40:23This has been a down
40:24as we've talked about
40:25that San Francisco
40:26has not been good
40:27on here tonight.
40:30See,
40:30they've been over 60%
40:31the last four games.
40:32Different story tonight
40:33against Seattle,
40:34third and two.
40:41Robinson,
40:42what was the forward
40:43progress?
40:45He didn't get it.
40:46Fourth down.
40:47Devin Witherspoon,
40:48a three-time Pro Bowl
40:49corner,
40:50made the tackle
40:51and that's going to
40:52bring the punt team
40:53on for the 49ers.
40:54DeMarcus Robinson,
40:55when he runs the route,
40:57he's beyond the change.
40:58So he's going to pick up
40:59the first down,
41:00but the throw,
41:00he's working back
41:01to the football.
41:03It's not,
41:04it's a higher throw,
41:06so he works back to it.
41:08And when he does,
41:10with Witherspoon
41:11right there to make a play
41:12and he's as good
41:13as there is in the league,
41:14he ends up giving up
41:15the first down.
41:18It's hard when you get
41:19a completion
41:19against this defense,
41:21especially third
41:21and short like that
41:22and it's not enough
41:23for a first down.
41:25Watch out for
41:25Rashid Shahid.
41:27He calls for a fair catch.
41:29He hauls it in
41:30inside the 35.
41:33Seattle gets it
41:34right back.
41:36We're in center.
