00:00Previously, on Project Runway Canada, each of you will design a high fashion fit that roars couture on a budget.
00:13I don't usually do couture.
00:15Black dresses are hard.
00:18Is there a world where we cut it scandalously low?
00:22The answer is no.
00:23Um, it looks messy.
00:27Ooh.
00:27I like the weirdness of it.
00:30I love the detail.
00:31I love the line play.
00:33The winner of this challenge is Leland.
00:36Yes!
00:37Maya and Foster, you both took a leap, but on the catwalk, your looks went astray.
00:43Maya, you are out.
00:45Thank you, judges.
00:46At stake for the winner, from TV, a career-launching investment of $100,000 and a feature in Elle Canada magazine.
00:55With global supermodel Coco Rocha, fashion designer Spencer Badu, creative director Aurora James, and legendary fashion journalist Jeannie Becker.
01:07This is Project Runway Canada.
01:09Watch me do my thing.
01:16Hello.
01:17Good morning.
01:18Guys, final four.
01:19I'm just so happy I'm here.
01:21Feels like I finally made it.
01:24Cheers to final four.
01:25Yeah.
01:26Come on.
01:26This is our last chance, babe.
01:28Like, this is it.
01:30And then it's the finale.
01:31So I really, really, really got to put my best foot forward.
01:34So happy that I am in that top.
01:36Bye.
01:37The journey almost felt like it was going to take forever, but this is the end of it.
01:41It's a strong group.
01:43It's a strong group.
01:44I can't wait for the next runway because it's going to be killer.
01:48Good morning.
01:49Good morning.
01:50Good morning.
01:51Thanks.
01:51How are we doing?
01:53Good.
01:54Final four.
01:56I have something special that I could tell you, but I'd rather show you.
02:02Hi, I'm Jeannie Becker.
02:03I'm Jeannie Becker.
02:04And now here are some other stories making news from the world of fashion and design.
02:09Yes.
02:10Yes.
02:11Jeannie is an icon.
02:13I have so much respect for her.
02:15You have no idea.
02:17She's so cool.
02:18That's Hilary Duff.
02:19I'm still running after.
02:24Jeannie really brought fun into fashion for everybody at home.
02:29Fashion hasn't been this amazing for a long time.
02:33And the future is very bright.
02:34So we're talking cool here because we're with Tommy Hilfiger, who's like, you know, the king of cool these days.
02:40She's accomplished so much.
02:42And I think nobody understands hard work and a dream more than Jeannie.
02:47As you can see, the excitement at New York Fashion Week continues with Kara Lagerfeld, Valentino, Jean-Paul Gauthier, Michael Kors, Johnny Versace, John Galliano stole the show.
02:57So good.
02:58She was really uncovering secrets and behind-the-scenes knowledge that we all have to thank her for.
03:04Is the world ready for you?
03:06Do you feel sometimes or do you feel it frustrating?
03:08I think you make a world ready for you.
03:09This collection doesn't have a great deal to do with fashion.
03:11It just has got to do with, like, how great these women can look, you know?
03:16So cute.
03:18Wow.
03:19Wow.
03:20An icon.
03:22For decades, Jeannie Becker has been at the forefront of style, not only in Canada, but around the world.
03:28As a host of fashion television, she sat down with many legendary designers, following them from their humble beginnings to superstardom.
03:35The four of you represent the next generation of this fashion legacy.
03:41Each of you has worked incredibly hard to get to this point, but there is one more challenge standing between you and the coveted spot in our final three.
03:52Leland, please head to the workroom to discover what's next.
03:56Ooh.
03:57Off you go.
04:00What's today's challenge?
04:01What could it be?
04:02I walk into the workroom, and my jaw drops.
04:09Oh, my God.
04:13Oh.
04:14Jeannie!
04:17Jeannie!
04:18Sweetie!
04:21Oh, God, there you are.
04:22Greatest privilege of her.
04:24This is such an iconic moment.
04:26I used to watch you so much, and, like, the life you brought onto the screen was so inspiring.
04:31It's such a surreal moment.
04:34Wow.
04:34Kind of a mini collection.
04:36I mean, somatically, a little all over the map, but wow.
04:40Strong statements there.
04:41How do you feel when you look around?
04:44I feel like I'm living the dream that I always wanted, and I'm so grateful.
04:49And just seeing everything, I did this.
04:53Wow.
04:53You are such an elegant designer.
04:57Thank you, Jeannie.
04:58I had no idea how I was going to respond in this competition, and I had a lot of fears
05:04that I would embarrass myself, but looking back at all of this, I don't think I have anything
05:09to be embarrassed about, which feels really good.
05:11Your attention to detail and the labor of love is astounding.
05:16I can't believe I made it here, but I can't believe I made it here.
05:20I'm never afraid to make something inexpensive look beautiful, or mix those codes between casual
05:25and street wear.
05:25There's something so distinctive about what you do.
05:28I mean, you definitely have a signature style.
05:31I can't believe I did this.
05:33I pushed myself so far.
05:35I'm not a costume designer.
05:36I am a designer.
05:38Kind of a Bob Mackie vibe.
05:40Oh, my God.
05:41Just to chip off the old block.
05:43When you look back at this competition so far, what do you think it's taught you?
05:48Nothing that's perfect is interesting or inspiring to me, and that sort of taking things slightly
05:54left of center, I think that's a really interesting space to be in.
05:58You know, I come from a different world.
06:00I just became a Canadian citizen, so I have a perspective that needs to be seen and heard.
06:06There's some things that I feel I haven't shown the judges yet.
06:08What do I say about sex appeal?
06:10How do I show sex appeal?
06:13There have been so many moments in my life where I'm like, why is this so hard?
06:18Each time I want something bigger, the universe throws me something that makes me want to
06:23quit.
06:24But throughout this competition, I've gotten more and more strong, and this is a lifelong
06:29dream.
06:30I feel like I live with my imposter syndrome so much, and I tell myself that, you know,
06:35I'm great and things are good, but like, it's the truth.
06:38And it's all here.
06:40I'm just so proud.
06:41Well, I'm so proud of you, too.
06:44Are you ready to hear about your final challenge?
06:47So ready.
06:48We're surrounded by the looks that brought you to this moment, but your next step is to
06:54show us your future.
06:55For this penultimate challenge, you must design a legacy-defining look that proves why you deserve
07:03a chance in the finale.
07:04Okay.
07:05You have complete freedom in what you choose to design.
07:11My God.
07:12With only three spots in the finale, this is your chance to leave a lasting impression and
07:18show us what you're made of.
07:20So don't hold back.
07:22Can't wait to show you.
07:23This is a two-day challenge.
07:25There are some model cards for you to choose from in your sketchbook.
07:27I can't wait to see what you come up with.
07:31Thank you, Jeannie.
07:32The gears are turning already.
07:36This is the dream challenge for any designer.
07:44It is complete freedom.
07:46I can finally just be myself.
07:49After this long competition, I'm more resilient, I'm stronger than ever, and I know exactly what
07:56I want to say.
07:58I've worked to be here.
07:59I've proven myself, and it's time to take a risk.
08:03Push the boundaries of what I'm capable of.
08:06I'm really going to bring this home.
08:07There's no other Leland Mitchell on the planet.
08:09This is my moment.
08:11I can feel it.
08:12Hello, designers.
08:26I hope you all had so much fun talking to Jeannie.
08:29I don't know if you know, but I used to intern at fashion television.
08:32So she is where dreams become reality.
08:36You all have 30 minutes and a budget of $400 to shop.
08:41Go.
08:42We're going to move.
08:45Take a risk.
08:47Been in this fabric store for weeks now.
08:49You know what they have.
08:50Freedom?
08:52Unheard of.
08:53Okay.
08:54This is not what I was expecting you to go for.
08:57We're going for everything today.
08:58This is not classic foster.
09:00No, it's not.
09:01We're not going classic this time.
09:03The games are different.
09:04I hope I can find some iridescent fabrics.
09:07I think this look is going to surprise the judges.
09:12I want to create something that feels ethereal and angelic, but also very sensual.
09:19We have this one.
09:20I'm scared about the risk I'm going to take, but I do feel that there's a lot to prove.
09:27Can foster do sex appeal?
09:28Only one way to find out.
09:30This is all that's left?
09:31Yeah, yeah.
09:31That's the fact.
09:32I'm going to have to keep searching.
09:34I'm looking for something gray.
09:37This is nice.
09:38I am here to show the judges exactly what I represent, so I'm going back to what I love
09:44the most, which is corsetry, and I am making a 100% gender-fluid garment, pairing a tightly
09:51laced corset with a sheer puff sleeve blouse, some super wide leg skirt gaucho-y pants with
09:57a long train behind it.
09:58And because it's me, there will be grommets, there will be spikes, and there will be a hat.
10:04There's no holding back.
10:05This is what I want to do, and I'm going to do it.
10:07Oh, that could be good.
10:10For this challenge, I'm excited to bring a luxe element to streetwear.
10:14I love to make sweatpants feel elegant.
10:17So I'm making this beautiful oversized hoodie, and I'm pairing it with this peplum pencil skirt.
10:24To put couture and streetwear together in this way, I want it to be like the next iteration
10:29of me.
10:30I'm looking for a beautiful heathered gray fleece.
10:32Do we have like gray color?
10:34Or like even any fleece material?
10:36It's like finding a needle in a haystack.
10:38I'm freaking out.
10:39This is not the place where you make mistakes, especially in the final four.
10:44I just can't find the fleece I need.
10:46I'm seeing all of these off-whites, and then out of nowhere, this beautiful beige comes
10:54out.
10:55I'll have it to cream.
10:57I see this black and white sequined psychedelic moment, and it's calling out to me.
11:02It's like, make something out of me.
11:04All right, what's the idea?
11:06Because we got interviewed by Jeannie Becker, I'm almost inspired by the 90s a little bit
11:10this one.
11:11I'm hoping to make something new glare meets the nanny meets 90s meets glamour.
11:17This is really cool.
11:18It's Glenn Close meets Carrie Bradshaw.
11:21Like, I see it.
11:23I'm trying not to go over the top, but also, I'm going over the top.
11:27I love it.
11:28I love it.
11:29This is it, since we didn't have the iridescent one.
11:31My new plan is a faux leather crocodile skin top.
11:35I like this.
11:36I like this.
11:37And then the skirt is going to be a crinoline base with a tulle overlay.
11:41That's it.
11:42Time is up.
11:44I will see you back at the workroom.
11:50Let's go.
11:51Woo!
11:52Last first day.
11:54All right.
11:54The beginning of the end.
11:56All right, let's get this show on the road.
11:58To be in the top four is intimidating.
12:00I know Leland is very fast, Charles is very conceptual, and Curtis has such a rich knowledge in fashion
12:09history.
12:09This is going to be really tough, but I'm up for the challenge.
12:15Bam!
12:16Bam.
12:17Loves it.
12:19Little tush.
12:20Everybody's got something to prove this week, and we all want this so bad.
12:25Oh, my God.
12:26I love these so much.
12:28Charles, how's your drafting going?
12:30I hate this part because it takes the longest, and there's usually nothing when everyone's making something.
12:35I'm not one of those people that cut into the fabric immediately.
12:38I really need to see what the shape looks like, and then I perfect my pattern.
12:43What would usually take three days, I have to essentially finish in a couple of hours.
12:49How's it going, Curtis?
12:52Good.
12:52I'm trying to do, like, a real, real corset.
12:56Yeah.
12:56I know Jeannie Becker has forbidden me from corsetry.
13:01I don't think we should be seeing any more corsets with the laces in the back.
13:06The trend forecast to say no more corset.
13:09But this corset is completely different than any other ones that I've created.
13:13At the end of the day, this look represents my future, and corsets are my signature.
13:18Looks good.
13:19Oh, the shape.
13:20The shape is nice.
13:27Hello, designers.
13:29Hi.
13:30Hi.
13:30Hi.
13:30Hi.
13:37Show me your vision.
13:38I initially had this idea of making this ethereal being, but they ran out of fabric, so I had to pivot.
13:45So this is going to be, like, a off-the-shoulder top, and then it's going to be a sheer skirt underneath.
13:51I want to show a leg, a little bit of underwear.
13:53I'm giving them some sexiness.
13:55So last week you went from fully covered, and now you want to show underwear.
13:59It's about risk.
14:00And you're sure underwear is your ticket to final three.
14:03I came here to be pushed.
14:04I'm not afraid of taking the risk.
14:06It's ambitious.
14:07It is very ambitious.
14:09I'm already sweating.
14:10Keep it going.
14:11Fast-paced.
14:12Yeah.
14:12Lots to do.
14:13Yeah.
14:14Can I work now?
14:15Bye.
14:17Nice to see you working away here.
14:19Walk me through how this is going to get you to the final three.
14:23I always liked this idea of mixing couture and streetwear, and I never really had a chance to express myself there.
14:29My love for marrying opposites together really stemmed from my confusion as a kid and my identity.
14:37I was never masculine or I was never feminine, and so now I realize there's such beauty when you kind of mix the extremes together.
14:46There's been a lot of people who have tried to make sweatsuits, high fashion, and very few have broken through to really make it archival and memorable.
14:57All of your finishing has to be perfect.
14:59Your silhouette has to be jaw-dropping as soon as the model steps on the runway.
15:03There's nowhere to hide, and I'm not hiding anywhere in this case.
15:05There's nowhere to hide.
15:07There's nowhere to hide.
15:08To put these two elements together in this way involves an incredible deal of mastery and balance.
15:15This is a huge risk, but I'm pushing myself to my absolute limit with this one.
15:19Nowhere to hide.
15:20This is final three worthy?
15:24Oh, yeah.
15:25So tell me why this sketch really represents the best of Leland.
15:30I think it could really be a cool moment.
15:32This fabric, like, caught my eye, and I fell in love with it.
15:37I'm going to be making the outfit out of this and doing this really awesome red fur lining.
15:42I really wanted to tap into the 90s.
15:44Cool.
15:45I just want to make sure that it also feels like this is the Leland that we're going to want to see play out on the finale runway.
15:53When you see this look coming down the runway, you are going to know it's instantly me because of the technique, because of the fabrics, because of the love in it, and all of these little attention to details.
16:07Okay.
16:08Walk me through your sketch, please.
16:10I would love to.
16:11We're going back to corsetry, except I'm returning in a way that I haven't presented to the judges yet at all.
16:17I'm going with a male model, and we're doing a gender-bent, tight corset, billowy shirt.
16:23Is going with a male model a risk for you?
16:26Yeah.
16:27Making a corset for a male-identifying body is a bold decision.
16:33I'm pushing the boundaries of what menswear can look like.
16:36I love it.
16:37I love what I'm doing.
16:38I love it.
16:40All right, designers.
16:42You only have three hours left in the workroom.
16:45Okay.
16:47Oh, but there's one more thing.
16:53TD will provide the winner of this challenge with $5,000.
16:57Okay, money.
16:58Okay, money.
16:59Good luck.
17:00See you tomorrow.
17:01Thank you, TD.
17:02Y'all don't need another $5,000.
17:04I'm saying that right now.
17:06The crinoline is a new experience for me.
17:13This fabric is very slippery.
17:16The skirt is too small.
17:18Just need to recut it and sew it.
17:20So, take two.
17:21This is the last thing I need.
17:27I'm feeling overwhelmed.
17:28When I look at Leland's look, I feel super behind.
17:32But I need to make these patterns perfect.
17:36There's really no room for error.
17:37It feels tense.
17:45It's all just hitting us how serious this is.
17:48We all want to be top three.
17:50We have one runway left.
17:51And we all really have to prove ourselves.
17:55I just hope this piece is taking me to the finale.
17:58Ah, another beautiful day.
18:06It's our last full day in the workroom.
18:09And we all have a lot to do.
18:11Charles seems to still be cutting out pieces and nothing on a mannequin.
18:15Leland has made an entire look.
18:17And I'm not really sure what Foster's up to.
18:20I never really settled on one idea since I had to pivot.
18:24So, I'm just kind of like finding some direction.
18:29There's a fitting coming very soon.
18:31And I just need to put something together.
18:33The hoodie is the identifier of this piece.
18:36To get this volume and structure I want,
18:38I'm going to have to bond and fuse the top layer of jersey,
18:42add a layer of batting,
18:43add a layer of stiff crinoline in there and tulle.
18:46This process normally takes about a week.
18:48And I'm doing this at lightning speed.
18:51If this fabric came thick enough,
18:53I wouldn't have to do this.
18:55Look how cute the little purse is going to be.
18:57Oh my God, you've got a heart on.
18:59Oh, yeah, a little bit.
19:01Good morning, designers.
19:03Hey, hello.
19:04I really want to see what you're up to.
19:10Foster?
19:11Yeah?
19:12I think we need to talk.
19:14I mean, Aurora, it's just not the time.
19:18Is that really all that we've done in this time?
19:22I'm literally learning, fixing, and going.
19:25It's a lot.
19:26But, you know, it's a risk.
19:27And we came to take risks.
19:29I just really want you to be able to pull this off.
19:32So whatever you do,
19:34have it be all about action at this point.
19:37Because looking at this, I'm scared.
19:39I wanted to take a risk with the fabric.
19:41But I need to work three times faster.
19:43It's the finale.
19:44Everything's at stake.
19:46I will have something ready to fit the model.
19:49Hey!
19:50You've got a lot going on here.
19:52Yep.
19:52Walk me through everything that's happening.
19:54I'm really kind of playing with the sequined fabric.
19:56I've made a couple extra little accessories.
19:59The purse.
19:59I think that you have nailed the 90s camp.
20:05All right, perf.
20:06I think what we may want to do,
20:08especially since you have time,
20:10because you're unbelievably fast,
20:13is how we can pull this into the future.
20:16I do agree with Aurora.
20:17I think I need to modernize this look.
20:19I just need to turn it a little bit
20:21to kind of bring it to now.
20:23What can we do?
20:25What's going on here?
20:26I'm just looking at it now
20:28with, like, the pant against the corset.
20:30And then we'll have this
20:31for, like, the big balloon sleeve.
20:33And you are confident
20:34that this look shows where you're going.
20:37Future of Curtis.
20:39Absolutely.
20:39I mean, challenge one.
20:41I would have never imagined
20:42making something like this.
20:43This is me presenting a really raw
20:45and vulnerable side of myself.
20:47I came here to sew,
20:49but really I uncovered so many things
20:51about my identity as a non-binary person
20:53and felt more comfortable in my skin
20:55than I ever have.
20:56You see the craftsmanship?
20:58The crafts non-binary ship.
21:01Hi.
21:01Hello.
21:02How are you feeling about it?
21:03It's feeling how I wanted it to feel
21:04and it's not sagging.
21:06It feels familiar,
21:06but it's not familiar.
21:07It's just me.
21:09Even though I know you feel
21:11that it's very different
21:12than past shapes that you've done,
21:14it still feels very reminiscent
21:16of Charles to me.
21:17Yes.
21:18Which can be good,
21:19but it can also be bad
21:21because it makes me feel like
21:22I've already seen
21:24all sides of Charles.
21:26And I think for us to get
21:29to the final three,
21:30the judges have to feel like
21:32there's something else in there
21:33that they're really excited to see.
21:36Got a hint to that here.
21:38I will.
21:40I get where Aurora is coming from
21:43and I think accessories
21:44are really going to drive
21:45this look home.
21:46I'll find the ways.
21:52All right,
21:53your models are here.
21:55Yeah!
21:56Hi, how are you?
21:57Nice to meet you.
21:58Oh my goodness.
21:59I almost just want to do
22:00a top of this.
22:02It's so good!
22:04How are we looking?
22:05How's the fit?
22:06I'm loving the fit so far.
22:07I think it's so cool.
22:09But you're right.
22:10It's a little dated.
22:11Mm-hmm.
22:11So I came up with...
22:15Mm, that's fun.
22:17We see this girl.
22:18This is like a hip-hop rapstress
22:20running around, doing it.
22:22You know what I really appreciate?
22:24Mm-hmm.
22:25Taking the red off the cuff.
22:26You think so?
22:27I think it's much chiquer without it.
22:29Oh, baby, it's gone.
22:30Okay, this is when
22:31it's going to get serious.
22:33We're going to try the corset.
22:34I have finished
22:35the beginnings of my corset.
22:37Doing a corset fitting
22:38involves how they're feeling in it,
22:40how it's looking,
22:40and if there's any acute alterations
22:42I need to make.
22:43Are you okay, comfortable-wise?
22:44I just have to make sure
22:45I take shallow breaths.
22:47Not only does it go
22:48over the lower bust,
22:50it contours the waist
22:51and then continues over the hips.
22:53So I have three areas here
22:55that need to be perfectly contoured
22:57to my model's body
22:58to make sure I'm conveying the themes
23:00I want to communicate.
23:01That's good?
23:01Oh, you can do tighter than that.
23:03Okay.
23:04It looks so good.
23:06The bottom of this crinoline skirt
23:09looks so good.
23:10I think my model
23:11is going to look amazing
23:12on the runway.
23:13All right, do you want to try
23:14to do another little walk in it?
23:17Oh, my...
23:19Why?
23:22You okay?
23:24This is bad, bad, bad, bad.
23:27Are you okay?
23:28I'm good.
23:28You're sure?
23:29Yes.
23:30We can't have her falling.
23:31I can't have her falling at all.
23:33I'll cut more off the sides.
23:35The skirt,
23:36I need it to be perfect.
23:38I just have to cut
23:39and test,
23:41cut and test.
23:42But at this point,
23:43if the model comes in tomorrow
23:45and she trips again,
23:47we're scrapping this whole thing.
23:49I can't afford her tripping.
23:52Yeah, I think that's it.
23:54Shall I get you out of this guy
23:55and then I can make
23:56the rest of your outfit?
23:58All right.
23:58Thank you, models.
24:00Time to go.
24:01Jed, bye, baby.
24:03Tomorrow will be great.
24:04I'll fix everything
24:05and we'll have a better day.
24:10Designers,
24:11every single minute counts.
24:14Be smart with your time.
24:16The judges are going to be looking
24:17at every detail of these looks.
24:20I'll see you tomorrow.
24:21Thank you, Aurora.
24:22Bye, Aurora.
24:24Foster, how's it going?
24:25Did you get the skirt figured out?
24:27Yeah, I'm going to add horse hair
24:28and the hem.
24:29I'm going to raise the side
24:30and just see.
24:31Okay.
24:32Perfect.
24:32You working on the jacket?
24:34Yeah.
24:35The skirt needs more work,
24:38but I have to make sure
24:39I finish the jacket.
24:41I'm running out of time.
24:42The runway is tomorrow.
24:44Learning as I go.
24:50Oh, my God.
24:52You guys, last day.
24:53Last day.
24:55It's runway day.
24:56I have a big list
24:57of things I need to do.
24:58There's no zipper
24:59in the front of the hoodie.
25:00I have to do the binding
25:01of the neckline.
25:02I have to create a facing.
25:03I'm a little frantic
25:04and I know I'll be using
25:06every bit of time
25:07right to the very end.
25:08Are you ready for a fitting?
25:10Not today.
25:11Oh, my goodness.
25:13I wish I had more time.
25:15I was going to make
25:17some white underwear
25:18to go underneath this outfit
25:20to show a little bit
25:21more sex appeal,
25:22but I've bitten more
25:24than I can chew.
25:25The skirt is not looking right
25:26and I also have to finish
25:28the jacket,
25:29so I'm scrapping
25:30the underwear.
25:31All right,
25:32and to the finish line.
25:35Good morning, designers.
25:36It is runway day,
25:38and today is the day
25:39that four becomes three.
25:42Who wants a model?
25:44How are you?
25:45What's goody?
25:47Hi, how are you?
25:47Despite what happened yesterday,
25:50we're just going to dust it off
25:52and move forward.
25:53You have 30 minutes
25:55with your models.
25:56Use every minute wisely.
26:00This is your ticket
26:01to the finale.
26:02Yes, ma'am.
26:03You look like you're from,
26:05like, a band
26:05with David Bowie.
26:07Okay,
26:08what is happening?
26:10Look at what's going on here.
26:12Yeah.
26:12Gathering-wise
26:13versus how much
26:14is going on here.
26:15Yeah, I see you.
26:16We still need to work
26:17on this blouse.
26:19I love this look so much,
26:20but I've got work to do.
26:22Okay, let's get this off of you
26:23because I've got to work on it.
26:25The fit is looking good here.
26:26The fit is fitting.
26:28Why don't we try on the blazer
26:29with it, too?
26:30Are you putting the cuffs back on?
26:31Why don't we look at them
26:32and we can figure out
26:33if we even like them?
26:34That's why I kind of made them
26:35a removable option.
26:37So, I don't know,
26:37something about the cuffs
26:38is making it
26:40a little bit more fun,
26:41but I think no cuff
26:42makes it very now.
26:43Don't we want now?
26:45Don't we want current?
26:46If there's something
26:47that you can just pair back,
26:49why not do it?
26:50I like it better without it.
26:52You are not incorrect.
26:56Got this.
26:58Yeah.
26:58I got it.
26:59I don't know if I got it,
27:00but I got it.
27:02I think it's kind of cool
27:03if we do this.
27:04All right, designers,
27:05when you're ready,
27:06start bringing your models
27:07to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
27:10Let's do it.
27:14What are we doing today?
27:16Sportswear meets luxury.
27:17Bold, full brows
27:18are having its moment right now.
27:20I'm going to use
27:20the faux brow eyebrow pen.
27:22It's going to mimic
27:23her natural eyebrow hair,
27:24and then we're going to want
27:25to set it
27:26with the brow lamination.
27:28It's going to last all day,
27:29and she's going to look stunning.
27:31That's exactly what I want.
27:33Yes!
27:33All eyes are going to go right to her.
27:35Gorgeous.
27:35Oh, yes.
27:40The makeup is perfect,
27:42and once I add this little hat,
27:44I'm so excited.
27:46God, the final minutes.
27:48You are almost there.
27:50Designers, let's start
27:51heading to the runway.
27:53Oh, my God.
27:58I'm feeling pretty confident
27:59that this look is going
28:01to pique the judges' interests
28:02and carry me through
28:03to the top three.
28:05With this look,
28:06I deserve to be
28:07in the final three.
28:08I've pulled out
28:09everything in my arsenal
28:10to put this together.
28:11It's undeniable.
28:14It is finished.
28:16She looks out of this world.
28:18I really took a leap of faith,
28:20and I feel so proud of myself.
28:22I'm here to show off
28:24who I am,
28:25what I can make,
28:26and I want people to smile
28:27when they see this look.
28:28I know that the judges
28:30are going to see
28:30the confidence
28:31and the fun with this.
28:33To the runway.
28:34Let's go.
28:35Let's do it.
28:36Final four.
28:37Let's go.
28:38Woo.
28:38Hi, designers.
29:01Hi.
29:01Welcome back.
29:03This week,
29:03we asked you to create
29:05a look that shows us
29:06not where you've been,
29:07but where you're heading
29:08towards in fashion.
29:10You had complete
29:11creative control,
29:12and we are so excited
29:14to see your visions
29:15come to life.
29:16But as you know,
29:18there are only three spots
29:20in the finale,
29:21so that means tonight
29:22three of you will be in,
29:24and one of you will be out.
29:27Say hello to your judges.
29:30Fashion designer,
29:30Spencer Berdue.
29:32Hi, designers.
29:32Congrats on making it here.
29:33Thank you, Spencer.
29:35Thank you, Spencer.
29:35Thank you, Spencer.
29:35Fashion journalist,
29:37Jeannie Becker.
29:38So much love, you guys.
29:40Hi, Jeannie.
29:40We love you, too.
29:41We love you.
29:42And your guest judge.
29:44He's a visionary
29:45leading the house
29:46that redefined
29:47North American fashion.
29:49Please welcome
29:50Halston's creative director,
29:52Ken Downing.
29:53Hello, designers.
29:55Hi.
29:56Ken Downing is here.
29:58This is so surreal.
29:59Legacy brand here in Canada,
30:01judging some of the next
30:03Legacy designers.
30:04It's getting meta.
30:06Shall we get the show started?
30:08You're mad.
30:08Let's do it.
30:13I'm in your face.
30:15I love that little velvet
30:16on her shoe.
30:19This is my most authentic piece.
30:22It feels elegant,
30:23but it also feels street wear
30:25at the same time.
30:26I hope the judges
30:28see my journey
30:29and my technical ability.
30:32For me,
30:33it really sets a precedent
30:34for where I'm going to go.
30:36This is who I am,
30:38and I'm happy
30:39to share it with the world.
30:48The silhouette of this corset
30:49is incredible.
30:51It's something the judges
30:52haven't really seen
30:52for me before,
30:53and I feel like I'm watching
30:55another version
30:56of myself.
30:57It's a complete representation
30:59of my own journey
31:00through this competition.
31:02Every time I build a look,
31:04I'm trying to tell a story,
31:06and I absolutely
31:07achieved my vision.
31:13With this look,
31:14I want the judges
31:15to see something
31:17that is more adventurous
31:18and less restrained,
31:20something that is the future
31:21of where I'm going.
31:23Wow.
31:24It feels very current
31:25and modern,
31:26and I think the skirt
31:28is definitely timeless.
31:30I really worked hard
31:31and just wanted
31:32to show the judges
31:33something new.
31:34This is one of my
31:35strongest looks.
31:41It's so good
31:43and fun,
31:44and that's what I know
31:46that I can bring
31:46to the finale,
31:47is the fun
31:48and fashion.
31:52And everything
31:54is made incredibly.
31:56I'm so happy with it.
32:08Designers,
32:09please step up
32:09to the runway.
32:17Tonight
32:17will be
32:18someone's final chapter.
32:23Wow, what a show.
32:25You're all incredibly talented,
32:26and you should be
32:27super proud of yourselves.
32:29We'd like to speak
32:30to each one of you
32:31about your designs.
32:32Let's bring out
32:32your models.
32:38Wow,
32:38four distinct looks.
32:40Let's start with Charles.
32:42I really wanted
32:43to incorporate
32:44everything I've learned
32:45in this competition
32:46so far
32:47and added in
32:48my couture sensibility,
32:50and I really wanted
32:51to express this intersection
32:52between casual
32:53and couture
32:54and streetwear.
32:55I think, like,
32:56streetwear is
32:56a risky thing to do.
32:58I love the way
32:59you're able to
32:59deconstruct and reconstruct
33:01something as simple
33:02as a tracksuit.
33:03For me,
33:03the shape is amazing.
33:04It feels like something
33:05that I haven't seen before.
33:07I was blown away by this.
33:09I'm assuming
33:09the hood
33:10is functional.
33:11It is functional.
33:12I mean,
33:13it's fantastic.
33:14Is it fleece?
33:15I really wanted
33:16to go grey fleece here,
33:17and I could not
33:18find grey fleece.
33:19This fabric
33:20is a lot thinner
33:21than how it's
33:22supposed to be,
33:23and so I had to bond
33:24every single piece
33:25of material
33:25just to give it
33:26the shape
33:26I wanted it to have.
33:28You took a negative,
33:29and you made it
33:29a positive.
33:30Bravo, Charles.
33:32I love the balance,
33:33the plate with proportion,
33:35and I love the fact
33:36that you risked
33:38working with a fabric
33:39that we're not used
33:40to seeing you work with.
33:41I have to say,
33:42this is the most view.
33:43This is what
33:44I've been waiting for.
33:45I love it.
33:47Foster, walk us
33:48through this look.
33:48With this challenge,
33:50I wanted to push
33:51my boundaries.
33:52I loved the idea
33:53of taking some elements
33:55from the biker jacket
33:56and sort of, like,
33:57deconstructing it
33:58and pairing it
33:59with something
33:59sheer and delicate.
34:01But the crinoline
34:01is something new for me.
34:02I took the risk.
34:04The way you sculpted
34:05the neckline
34:06just slightly
34:07over the shoulder
34:08really brought
34:09an excitement
34:10and a real strength
34:11to the entire look.
34:13This looked to me
34:14like the kind of
34:15bridal outfit
34:16for the year 2050.
34:18Something very romantic
34:19about it to me.
34:20The mock crock
34:21was fabulous.
34:22I understand it's not
34:23easy to work with.
34:25We've no need
34:25to be elegant,
34:26saw,
34:27but there was
34:28something very
34:29edgy about this.
34:30We can see it.
34:31You're pushing yourself.
34:32We're seeing it.
34:33Thank you, Foster.
34:34Thank you, Coco.
34:35Curtis.
34:36Coming into this competition,
34:37I was holding
34:39a lot of fear
34:40about how my own identity
34:41and how I present
34:43as non-binary
34:43would be perceived.
34:45I play with gender a lot.
34:46This feels like
34:47pieces of me.
34:48I really appreciated
34:49what you brought here.
34:50Just giving, like,
34:51pirates of Curtis.
34:53And I love
34:54the construction here.
34:55I think that's something
34:56that we've come to know
34:57and love about you.
34:59The corset's exquisite.
35:00The way that it is executed
35:02looks spectacular.
35:03It was this beautiful,
35:04seamless transportation
35:06of bringing something
35:08from the past forward.
35:10One thing that you
35:10always manage to do
35:12is transport us.
35:14You're a storyteller,
35:15and I like the stories
35:16you tell.
35:16This, I get.
35:18Why can't men
35:19be more romantic?
35:19Thank you, Curtis.
35:23Leland, tell us
35:24about your design.
35:24Every chance
35:25in this competition,
35:26I've really just tried
35:27to show the fun
35:28in fashion.
35:30This is like an extravagant,
35:31over-the-top Leland look.
35:33My inspiration for it
35:34was kind of a Fran Drescher moment,
35:36but then I really wanted
35:37to swing it to now
35:39and to run with, like,
35:40a Cardi B Normani silhouette.
35:42So that's why the skirt
35:43came off immediately.
35:44I will say I'm so mesmerized
35:46by the fabric
35:46because it's a little mod.
35:49It reads like a zebra pattern,
35:51and then you just
35:52boldly put it all together.
35:53The heart collar
35:54was not lost on me.
35:55Your technique is great.
35:57I love it.
35:58Is it kitschy?
35:58Yes.
35:59Is it camp?
35:59Yes.
36:00But I applaud you.
36:02Impeccable in terms
36:03of execution,
36:04but I felt like it did
36:05lack a bit of originality.
36:06I just felt like
36:07I'd seen it before,
36:08and I'm really curious
36:10what Leland looks like
36:12in the future.
36:13But it makes a statement,
36:14and I think this is
36:15a very specific way
36:17of seeing the world,
36:18for sure,
36:18and I think the world
36:19probably does need
36:20a lot more of that.
36:22Jeanie, you make me
36:23cry too much, girl.
36:25Thank you, Leland.
36:26Thank you so much.
36:27Amazing work, everyone.
36:29You've given us
36:30so much to think about.
36:32You can all leave the runway.
36:39That was so good.
36:41I'm so pleased
36:43with what I just saw.
36:44But we have to decide
36:45who's joining us
36:46at the finale
36:47and whose journey
36:48ends tonight.
36:49I love Charles.
36:50I think he really understood
36:52what the brief was.
36:53He has a clear point of view.
36:55The idea of making something
36:56that was so incredibly
36:57haute culture,
36:59but doing it in fleece
37:01made me just want
37:02to see more
37:03of what he's going to do.
37:05It was bold,
37:06and I think that's
37:06what we're looking for
37:07here on the runway.
37:08I loved how Curtis
37:11is able to play
37:11with this sense
37:12of androgyny.
37:14I think menswear
37:15is a space
37:15that needs to be challenged.
37:16All of the lovely details,
37:18the grommets,
37:18the lace,
37:19and I love the fluidity,
37:20the pieces,
37:21how they almost
37:22became one.
37:23Very appropriate
37:24to how he sees
37:25the world.
37:26He's very good
37:27at fanciful romance.
37:29He loves his little
37:30chapeaus.
37:30I love that.
37:31He has a very,
37:32very clear vision.
37:34All right, Leland.
37:35I think Leland
37:36is a great showman.
37:37And he obviously
37:38likes drama.
37:39He likes his clothes
37:40to get noticed.
37:41That jacket
37:42was tailored
37:43exquisitely.
37:45Is every woman
37:45going to dress like that?
37:47No, but every woman
37:48that dresses like that
37:49isn't every woman.
37:50Yeah.
37:50I think the little
37:50heart bag,
37:52so mesquino.
37:53If I'm going to wear
37:53a purse,
37:54it better have a statement.
37:55Give me every color
37:56of that thing.
37:57Accessories are the things
37:58that sell the most.
37:59Honestly,
38:00I think with this look,
38:00I'm a bit mixed.
38:02Where I feel like
38:03Leland has performed
38:04best is when he has
38:05some sense of restriction.
38:07I don't necessarily
38:08know who Leland is.
38:09I can't believe
38:10you're saying that.
38:11I think Leland,
38:13there's just so many
38:13things that you can
38:14see about him
38:15and how much he really
38:16cares about what he does.
38:18That's fashion.
38:20Obviously,
38:21this outfit was campy
38:22and it was kitschy,
38:23but he's just drawing
38:24on a variety
38:25of pop culture references
38:26and I appreciate that.
38:28Here's my thing.
38:29Leland,
38:30Curtis,
38:30and Charles.
38:31I wouldn't say
38:32there's growth.
38:33I think they've always
38:34been really secure
38:35with what they do.
38:37Foster,
38:37from the beginning,
38:38was at the bottom
38:39and then over time,
38:40he started to grow
38:41from the middle
38:41to the top
38:42and to winning
38:43and I appreciate that.
38:44I thought he did
38:45pretty amazing.
38:46I'm so happy
38:47to see Foster
38:48take the chance
38:49and go out on the edge
38:50and really push it
38:51and he really wants
38:53to please.
38:54I love that he went
38:55with hard and soft
38:56and it was ethereal.
38:57I think that he picked
38:59the right idea
39:01and shape
39:01for that jacket.
39:03I love that it was
39:03all white.
39:04Even the addition
39:05of the belt
39:06felt something
39:07that I wouldn't necessarily
39:07expect from Foster.
39:09Those things are
39:10very promising.
39:11Foster's really showed us
39:12that he has the vision.
39:13But who is the next star
39:15that was in front of us today?
39:18Is it about commercial viability
39:19or is it about artistry?
39:21All four have great talent.
39:23Proud of them.
39:25Absolutely.
39:26All right.
39:27Let's bring the designers
39:28back out.
39:33Welcome back, designers.
39:35You all pushed your limits
39:37and put on a fantastic show tonight.
39:40And congratulations
39:40on making it to this point.
39:43There are only three spots
39:44in the finale.
39:46But no matter what happens,
39:49I just want you to all remember
39:50this is only the beginning.
39:54Charles,
39:55you have such a strong vision
39:58and an unmistakable aesthetic.
40:01Tonight, you stayed true to Charles
40:03and took a risk that paid off.
40:07Foster,
40:08we see something so special in you.
40:11You're elegant, curious,
40:14and you've shown us so much growth
40:16in this competition.
40:17Curtis,
40:18you gave us romance,
40:21whimsy,
40:22and gender-bending artistry.
40:26Leland,
40:27the king of construction.
40:29We love how you bring
40:30so much joy to the runway
40:32and you always keep us guessing.
40:36The winning look tonight
40:38not only demonstrated balance,
40:40it was masterfully executed
40:43with a soft elegance.
40:46The winner of this challenge
40:48and the first designer
40:50to make it to the finale is...
40:54Charles.
41:00Yay!
41:00Oh my gosh,
41:03I want this challenge!
41:05This is the one I wanted to win
41:07because if they're saying
41:08we love your authentic self,
41:10then that is the best challenge
41:12I could win.
41:14And because your look stole the show,
41:17TD is providing you
41:18with a $5,000 cash prize.
41:22Congratulations.
41:22Thank you so much.
41:25The second designer
41:26who will be joining us
41:28in the finale is...
41:32Curtis.
41:36Oh my God.
41:40I'm in the top three.
41:42One, two, three.
41:44I've been wanting this
41:45for longer than I'm willing to admit.
41:48So to be able to be here
41:49in this three with Charles
41:51is incredible.
41:54Foster and Leland,
41:57you are both so talented
41:59in your own rights.
42:01But only one of you
42:03can move on to the finale.
42:08The final designer
42:09to make it into the finale
42:11is...
42:21You are both sobs
42:23and the spoken word
42:23in your own Zeit konst
42:25and you are from Eat Path
42:25to listenắt other deep
42:26and to be able to master
42:28in your own life.
42:32And in office music,
42:33is you really young?
42:35Who do you think?
42:37Is this spectacular?
42:39Or Leafì–‘ part?
42:40The final designer
42:41is a make-up
42:42part by assuming
42:42who seems to be
42:42willing to save
42:42and feel thirsty
42:43and be prepared
42:44in your own time.
42:45But only one of you
42:45can make it directement
42:46and get frustrated
42:46or being made
42:46good
42:47and be honest.
