00:00It was a weird day yesterday if you are a Verizon customer.
00:031.5 million customers of Verizon went without service yesterday.
00:08I mean, and realize, like, what a toll that takes.
00:12I couldn't send a text message.
00:15I couldn't make a phone call.
00:17Like, there was no communication.
00:19So for us AT&Ters, like, what was your phone saying on it?
00:23It would have a little picture of a satellite in the upper right-hand corner, and it would say SOS.
00:29Oh, where it, like, normally says, like, 5G or whatever in your bars?
00:32Yep.
00:33Interesting.
00:33Yeah, so then it's weird because I would go to make a phone call or send a text message, and it would say, you know, like, message undelivered or something.
00:42And then a little bar would pop up on the top of the screen saying, try using satellite.
00:49Go outside and point your phone in this direction to connect with the satellite.
00:53And then I thought, like, then that screen wouldn't go away.
00:57So you couldn't even read any of the text.
00:59You couldn't get out of the message that you were already in because that screen wouldn't go away.
01:03But I thought, if I do this, like, how much is that going to cost me?
01:07Yeah.
01:07Right?
01:07It doesn't say for an extra 99 cents.
01:10Like, you can, you know, so it was weird because my family was all in different places.
01:15Right.
01:15My husband's at home, so he's got his Wi-Fi.
01:18Okay.
01:18Right.
01:18So he's good.
01:19I was at the gym.
01:20There was no Wi-Fi capability at the gym where I was.
01:23My daughter was driving my son to the dentist appointment, and we're like, it's so weird to just suddenly not be able to talk to anyone.
01:31Yeah.
01:31Yeah.
01:31That's an uncomfortable feeling.
01:33And then I got used to it.
01:34Like, once everybody got home, I was like, okay.
01:38This is kind of nice.
01:38Yeah.
01:39I'm just, you know, I was inundated.
01:40As soon as I pulled into my Wi-Fi area, I was inundated with, like, 80 messages, and I just flipped my phone upside down, and I said, I am not going to deal with you today.
01:51Well, we had a handyman come by our house to do some electrical, and he walked in, and he was like, hey, I was going to call you, but, like, my phone, like, has SOS.
01:58I don't really know what's going on with it.
02:00And I kind of thought to myself, like, it was very much his, like, problem.
02:03Right.
02:03Like, pull yourself together, maybe pay your bill.
02:06Yeah.
02:06I was like, what are you doing, dude?
02:08Like, and he was a perfectly nice guy, and he was like, I paid him on Venmo, and he was like, all right, well, I'll check if it goes through, like, later, I guess.
02:16Yeah.
02:16Like, right, your phone isn't working anymore.
02:19It was so weird.
02:20That's so strange.
02:21So Verizon did apologize for the inconvenience.
02:23They say they don't see any indication that it was a cyber attack.
02:26Okay.
02:27Because that was the other thing that then starts going through my mind.
02:29Like, is this just the beginning, and how are we going to be able to cope with this?
02:33Um, but they said they, uh, you know, they're hoping that they'll be able to give some account credits to some people who realized that they were in a whole lot of trouble yesterday.
02:45But that outage even affected 911 operation in a lot of cities.
02:49Oh, that's really scary.
02:50So that was a bad, bad sitch.
02:51Yeah, it's one thing not to be able to text your bill, you know what I mean?
02:54It's another thing to not be able to text the police or call 911.
02:57But I think everything is up.
02:59And they say if you're not connected this morning, turn your phone off and then turn it back on and it should be able to reconnect.
