00:00Now already we are upgrading the Trans-Pennine route and that's incredibly exciting with the electrification of that line with more frequent services, more reliable services, connecting towns and cities in the north.
00:13But this takes it a step further.
00:16Today we're unlocking just over a billion pounds of money to start purchasing the land and do that detailed development work.
00:23Because we're setting out the route today and the stations along the journey but there's more work to do as we do that detailed scoping and obviously Peter will lead on that work but with the mayors, not doing it to the mayors or doing it to local communities but working in partnership because that is the right approach.
00:42And Northern Powerhouse Rail will be a mixture of new railway stations, new lines and also upgrading what we already have.
