Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch welcomed the Government’s “latest U-turn” on digital ID at the start of Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday.Responding, Sir Keir Starmer said: “I’m determined to make it harder for people to work illegally in this country, and that’s why there will be checks, they will be digital, and they will be mandatory."The Prime Minister’s weekly appearance in the Commons follows an apparent admission that the flagship policy will no longer be mandatory for right-to-work checks.
