Health experts on Jan. 14, 2026 urge the public to undergo early screening to combat chronic kidney disease, which is dubbed 'a silent condition.' AstraZeneca and Diabetes Philippines, in partnership with Mercury Drug Corporation, launched a free screening test to combat chronic kidney disease at Mercury Drug’s Shangri-La Plaza branch in Mandaluyong. The free screening includes blood pressure, random blood sugar, body mass index, and a urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) test for kidney function in select Mercury drug branches.

00:00our staff so we are all here because of the importance of kidney health check as mentioned
00:21nowadays you would see why we have a lot of dialysis centers right because of the kidney
00:28problem and two major causes is diabetes and hypertension so before we go to that dreaded
00:36complication we can check already there is an early screening and we call that UACR and that is just
00:46submitting your urine sample and we can detect already whether there is already a sign of early
00:55kidney damage because if it's early we can still prevent it and prevent it from becoming the worst
01:03scenario and in fact bring it back to normal like what they said most of the kidney problems patients
01:11do not complain of anything and once they complain of something that say nagmamanas na tumatas ang blood
01:17pressure no kumukunti na yung ihe i think we are already late in that situation so if we could get
01:26patients earlier then it will be better for our patients overall outcome sometimes they do screening
01:35like what we have here they do not know they have diabetes they do not know they have high blood
01:40pressure but when we check oh you're ready spilling out protein in the urine maybe now you have to check
01:46your bp you have to check now your blood pressure and the other way around if the patient has diabetes
01:53if the patient is hypertensive then doing a UACR is very important because we can detect early complications
