00:00The Golgong Medical Centre was shut for 18 months, leaving the town without a GP.
00:08That was until the arrival of Nurse Practitioner Sky Bradford and two doctors in July.
00:15We've onboarded over a thousand new patients in the last six months
00:19who've never been to this medical practice previously and didn't have a doctor in the area.
00:23So it's a good feeling to be able to provide that service to.
00:27Kate Day is the organiser of the Doctors for Mudgie region group, which helped attract the practitioners to town.
00:34The not-for-profit provided each doctor with a $45,000 package and assisted with moving.
00:40You wouldn't see this happen in any Sydney or metropolitan areas.
00:44So for them to now have two GPs in the region, a Nurse Practitioner, it really is a lifeline for the community.
00:50Dr Luke Talbot believes other communities can learn from Golgong.
00:55We have to make it appealing for doctors to come from metropolitan areas to more rural and remote areas.
01:02And not only for the doctor, but for the family that they might bring with them.

01:11who no longer have to travel hours to see a GP.
01:14We haven't just travelled to Mudgee. Some people have travelled to Dubbo, Penrith, Lithgow, trying to just get in anywhere they could.
01:25It's had catastrophic consequences for many in this region.
01:29There's lots and lots of families affected in this area by loss of loved ones just purely because of exacerbations of their chronic disease where they just need that regular follow-up.

01:48This person is a thousand building on a clinic, one satellite site, one founder sees an organization that was in prison to pray about their yapogether.
