Lauren Jackson officially opens Stage 1 of the $15.2 million redevelopment of the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre in Albury

00:00First and foremost, I just want to say how amazing it is to be here today in the middle of the Country Cup.

00:07This tournament that's being played right now has been played in Albury for many, many years.

00:12I've played in it. I missed out on the team to compete in it, which broke my heart when I was like 12.

00:18And my best friend up the back, she got in the team and I was pretty devo, but it's all good.

00:22I got in the next year.

00:24But this tournament gives kids the opportunity to dream.

00:28And to be able to come to this stadium refurbished with the memorabilia, with everything that it's got,

00:35it shows that if you've got a dream and if you want to achieve it, you absolutely can.

00:39And these dreams start here.

00:40They start in local communities, in the stadiums, with real people, with representation.

00:46They can see they're heroes.

00:48Our lives have revolved around this place following our dreams and now the dreams of our children, which is so true.

00:54You know, we've all got our own kids now playing through Albury basketball and to watch just the evolution and the friendships

01:03and the connections that we've made through this sport at this stadium, it can't be understated.

01:08And everyone in this room, we've been brought together by the love of this sport, by the community here in Albury.

01:15And I'm just so thankful to be a part of Albury and what we've been able to achieve here in the stadium.
