00:00What started as a late-season day of skiing in northwestern Washington nearly ended in tragedy,
00:05if not for this heroic rescue. This video was captured by skier Francis Zuber as he was
00:10zigzagging around trees on Mount Baker. That is, until he came across this, what appeared to just
00:15be a snowboard sticking out of the snow. But Zuber knew better. He rushes over to the snowboard and
00:20begins digging frantically, attempting to uncover the snowboarder who had been trapped after falling
00:24through a snowdrift. He quickly abandons digging with his ski and moves over to the upside-down
00:29border, first locating their legs and digging down from there. Suddenly, the buried person begins to
00:34show signs of life, aiding Zuber as he digs, until finally a face emerges. You're good. You're good,
00:40I gotcha. You okay? Can you breathe? Yeah, okay. He reassures the snowboarder that everything is
00:46going to be all right. All right, how you doing? Are you good? I'm good. Okay, good. I'll get you
00:51out of here in a sec, okay? Zuber was eventually able to free the man from the snowdrift, with the
00:56rescuer issuing a warning along with the video, writing, quote, all I say for now is the mountains
01:01don't care how much skill or experience you have.
