Police have crippled a drug syndicate that used a terrace house in Johor Baru as a repacking and distribution centre for the local market and neighbouring countries.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said five men were arrested in Taman Bukit Indah along with the seizure of drugs worth about RM1.45mil.

00:18were arrested in Taman Bukit Indah at 4.20pm on Friday. One of the suspects is believed to be
00:24the leader of the syndicate, which has been active since August last year. Authorities seized a total
00:31of 21.75 kilograms of drugs, estimated to be worth 1.45 million ringgit, which could have supplied
00:38over 98,000 users. Police also recovered drug paraphernalia and equipment reportedly used to
00:46repackage the drugs in Chinese tea packets. In addition, six cars, two motorcycles, jewellery
00:53and cash totaling 270,150 ringgit were confiscated. The case is being investigated under section 39
01:02subsection B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death penalty or life
01:08imprisonment upon conviction.
