01:14The injuries to not just Tyrese Halliburton,
01:16but so many of the regulars that are in this rotation
01:19have been really difficult.
01:20But you've won two straight.
01:22Pacers looking to get the first time
01:23their three-game winning streak on the year.
01:25Since January 1st, this offense,
01:28whether it's pace, three-point percentage,
01:30effective field goal percent, even offensive efficiency,
01:32it's been a different type of team.
01:34And you've got Pascal Siakam, who's played at an all-star level.
01:37Pacers playing with some confidence.
01:39We'll see if they can build on that tonight.
01:41Let's get to our starting lineups.
01:44Peyton Pritchard, Derek White, Baylor Shireman, Sam Houser,
01:49Namias Kata for the Celtics and for Indiana,
01:52Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Neesmith, Johnny Furphy,
01:55Pascal Siakam, and Jay Huff in the middle.
01:59Head coach of the Celtics, Joe Mazzuller.
02:02Fourth season as the head man in Boston,
02:05chatting up with Jason Tatum right there.
02:07And Rick Carlisle, 1,001 career wins as a head coach.
02:14Second most wins among active head coaches.
02:17This is the 200th all-time meeting in the regular season
02:22between the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers.
02:25The Celtics a 1-12, 87 all-time advantage.
02:29They're 2-0 so far this season.
02:32But this is a different-looking Indiana team than the first two times they met.
02:39Huff and Kata on the center circle are officials Pat Frayer,
02:43Eric Dalen, and Brandon Schwab.
02:45And we are underway.
02:51Indiana looking for their first three-game win streak of the season.
02:55This is Nembhard attacking Pritchard.
03:01Good defense.
03:02Nembhard fires and can't hit.
03:08First possession for the Celtics.
03:10We're in the white and gold tonight.
03:16Pritchard around the Kata screen.
03:19Defended by Huff.
03:20Into the lane.
03:21Nice jump off.
03:22Kata with the flush.
03:24That's a massive improvement for Kata.
03:26He's always in the right position.
03:28It wasn't like that at the beginning of the year,
03:29but it hasn't been like that now.
03:31Scout, you start helping uphill.
03:32I know you're concerned about a shot at the paint,
03:34but you help uphill.
03:35That's 100% on the shot on the paint from Demiic Kata.
03:40This is Siakam inside.
03:42Outside, Furphy had his heels at the bounce.
03:46Hit the shot.
03:47Doesn't matter.
03:49Yeah, on this play, you're right.
03:50They step up on Pritchard.
03:51Look at Kata in the dunker spot.
03:55Furphy's not just helping uphill.
03:57He's helping up the mountain.
03:58That's like three steps forward there.
04:04This is White, and that pass a little high.
04:08Still finds Simon.
04:10Pritchard.
04:11How about this matchup here?
04:13This is a fun one here with Demiart and Pritchard.
04:15No doubt, Pritchard misses the shot.
04:17Furphy the board.
04:19But Michael, last time in this building,
04:21Jaden Pritchard, he went off.
04:2229 points, nine rebounds, five assists.
04:25Got to know where he's at.
04:27And Siakam hits the turnaround, Jay.
04:30And we're all not enough at two apiece.
04:33He's coming off the game where he didn't have his best.
04:36Season low against Miami, 11 points.
04:38But seven prior to that, he's been on fire.
04:40Siakam has played at an all-star level.
04:43Off the turnover to give it right back.
04:45Derek White lines up a tray off the heel.
04:48How's with the offensive board?
04:51Expect a lot of threes fired up from the Boston Celtics.
04:54As Simon off the mark, another offensive rebound.
04:58Yeah, they're a big offensive rebound team,
04:59especially in January.
05:00Third in the NBA, an offensive rebound percentage.
05:03Now in Indiana, not a good defensive rebound.
05:06He's 17th on the season in terms of shutting down the boards.
05:10Off the miss.
05:12Furphy the other way.
05:13Furphy on the drive.
05:14Hanging.
05:15And it drives.
05:17Really good athlete.
05:18He's a player that can get out the open floor.
05:20His two-point field goal percentage is high.
05:22Way to look up the court.
05:23Furphy taking advantage in the open floor.
05:25He's a poster waiting to happen.
05:284-2 advantage for Indiana.
05:31Derek White defended by Neesmith.
05:32Polk away by Nembhardt.
05:33Out of bounds.
05:34It will stay with Boston.
05:36As we scout the Boston Celtics,
05:39best record in the NBA over the last 19 games.
05:43They've turned it over the fewest times in the league.
05:45And as I mentioned before, nearly 43 three-point attempts a game.
05:48Only Golden State fires more from downtown.
05:51Right on cue.
05:52Hauser, three-ball, can't hit from the corner.
05:55And rebound secured by Neesmith.
05:57Scal is it a surprise what we've seen from Boston this season without Tatum?
06:01They lost five rotational players last year.
06:04Yes.
06:05Nobody in the NBA is expected to win,
06:07especially when you have two bigs on minimum contracts
06:10and you shed so much salary.
06:12But they have different guys that are always ready for the challenge.
06:15Six straight from Indiana after Boston had the first field goal of the game.
06:21White tried to dump it off Decay the battle for the board.
06:24Good switch there.
06:25Neesmith just took it away on the roll.
06:27And Indiana gives it right back.
06:31Sireman has Pritchard open beyond the arc.
06:34Sidestep.
06:35Good contest there from Siakam.
06:37Sireman on the baseline.
06:38Forced to give it up.
06:41White.
06:42Pocket pass Decay the.
06:43Cata fake spin left hook.
06:45Oh, that is nice.
06:48That is really nice.
06:49Like I said before,
06:50I don't know how we get these guys from Luke Cornett,
06:53Decay the to Garza,
06:54but we find them and they contribute.
06:57Outside look.
06:58Huff.
06:59Front iron on drop.
07:01Huff can make that shot.
07:03But 0 for 4 from 3 against Miami.
07:05Has had a down shooting year from the 3-point line this year.
07:08Hauser gone.
07:10First 3-point field goal there for the Celtics.
07:12Talk about the 3-point shooting.
07:13They seek out threes in transition with plays like that.
07:17How about Hauser?
07:1818 of his last 36 from 3.
07:20Slow start to his season,
07:22but he's been on fire.
07:24He's a flamethrower.
07:267-6 advantage for the Celtics.
07:29Siakam.
07:29Dump up.
07:30Huff.
07:31The finish.
07:32Siakam is just so comfortable operating in the middle of the floor.
07:36He gets those isolation situations.
07:37Help comes over.
07:39Drop it off and find an easy one.
07:43Siakam just missed her consistent.
07:46Simon won't take the 3.
07:47How's it?
07:52Shot clock winding down.
07:53Outside looks.
07:54Simon flicks the wrist.
07:56Won't go.
07:57Rebound snagged by Indiana.
08:00Celtics 1 for 5 from downtown.
08:02Nembhard.
08:03Blocked by Keita.
08:05That's great pursuit by Keita.
08:08All right, here's Keita.
08:09This is what I was talking about.
08:11Early in the season, people ask, who is Namias Keita?
08:14And he shows off that left hand.
08:16You got Siakam operating in that painted area.
08:18Draw two.
08:19Drop it off.
08:20You need a guy that's going to try to protect the rim.
08:23But, Scal, there's guys that are making way more money than what Namias Keita is
08:26and aren't making that last play that we saw there.
08:28It was a big-time move.
08:30I know.
08:30It's amazing the way that they find things.
08:33Like, Cornette was in the G League, no NBA contract.
08:35They turned him into a stud.
08:38Keita is the same way.
08:41White will stop and go.
08:43Got to the rim.
08:44Blocked in the hands of Keita for two.
08:46Right place, right time.
08:47Good attack by White.
08:49Sometimes you can get to the rim as a guard.
08:51The best thing that can happen sometimes is an offensive rebound.
08:54Especially knowing that Jay Huff second the NBA in block.
08:57So, he's going to be there to protect that basket.
08:59There's going to be opportunities if he doesn't get that thing
09:02for offensive rebounds on the other side.
09:05Elbow jumper won't drop for Nimhart.
09:07Austin looking to reclaim the lead.
09:09Pritchard on the drive.
09:11Siakam all over.
09:13Pretty good by Siakam.
09:14And taking on that bump.
09:15It's still right there to contest if Pritchard shot it.
09:18Oh, White falls down.
09:20Able to give it up.
09:21Hauser with five on the clock.
09:23Fires from deep.
09:24They left him.
09:26You know, Hauser shoots like 58% from three against Indiana.
09:32The baser killer.
09:34Real stat.
09:36Hauser.
09:38Oh, they left him home.
09:39Knocked down the tray.
09:41Celtics on top.
09:41For more than 30 years, Ed Lacerda supported the NBA as a trusted athletic trainer, helping
09:51players from the Boston Celtics to the Dream Team.
09:53Now he needs your help to beat leukemia.
09:56Scan to support Ed and patients like him by learning how you can join the blood stem cell
10:00donor registry with a simple cheek swab.
10:06Here at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Michael Grady, Brian Scalabrini, Robbie Hummel, foul on the
10:11floor, Johnny Furphy at the free throw line as Simon picks up his first.
10:15The Celtics with Sam Hauser and I mean, it's Kata with all their scoring thus far.
10:29There was plenty of dialogue about the communication in that last play where everybody ran away from
10:33Hauser.
10:34That was certainly mentioned in that pacer huddle.
10:36Certainly some chatter about the turnovers, too.
10:39Three early ones.
10:40See if Indiana can clean that stuff up.
10:42All tied up at 12 after the free throws.
10:47Luka Garza out there for Boston along with Anfernee Simons.
10:53Simons.
10:54Coming up that five-point performance Saturday against San Antonio.
10:58Pritchard.
11:00Tough fade away.
11:01Oh, it drops.
11:03I'm amazed every time I see it.
11:05I see it every night.
11:06How is a 6-1 guard doing post-work on bigger players?
11:10But it's also, it's the balance, it's the patience, it's the skill set.
11:14There's so much to like about that move from Peyton Pritchard.
11:18Inside to Huff.
11:19Huff, outside.
11:21Shepard for three.
11:22That was a big-time pass right there from Jay Huff.
11:25And Ben Shepard, six games that he's been back.
11:27Now, 11 of 17 from three, starting to find that rhythm from downtown.
11:34Simons, doesn't need a lot of space.
11:36Too strong.
11:38Furphy, the strong rebound among some white jerseys.
11:41That's a man's board right there by Furphy.
11:44Handoff, Shepard, heat check.
11:46No.
11:56Pritchard on an island with Jay Huff.
12:00Oh, well, Hedzie, Pritchard, top ball, guards him for two.
12:05It's Pritchard on the iso.
12:07Anytime he gets a big, he's getting to the paint and making good plays.
12:11That herky-jerky stuff is so hard to guard.
12:14And a stoppage start.
12:16No chance to defend that.
12:18Huff goes glass.
12:20What Jay Huff is such a fast-ending player, loves the reverse dunk, shoots it from three,
12:26protects the rim, and right there showing the touch.
12:29That pocket pass with the right.
12:31Loves the reverse dunk.
12:33I asked him why.
12:34It's right there.
12:35He's starting lineups.
12:35He goes, honestly, I don't have a good answer.
12:37It's fun.
12:38He's like, really?
12:39I thought there'd be, like, some schematic reason.
12:42There is not.
12:42It's fun.
12:44Yeah, look at Pritchard right here.
12:45Look at, get the body.
12:47And I don't get how he can hit guys like that and keep his composure and have the touch.
12:53How about his first pass, even from Nembhard?
12:55The vision there, you have to help in on Huff, and then he's just spraying it out.
12:59Ben Shepard, Ben Shepard, you know, you think about Aaron Neesmith, some of these guys getting healthy definitely coincides with Indiana's much better offense in the month of January.
13:09Substitutions for Indiana, TJ McConnell, there's another guy who can hit some tough shots for a smaller guy.
13:16Yeah, and he changes Indiana's offense with his pace.
13:19Everybody knows it.
13:20He's a problem.
13:21He's on everybody's scouting report.
13:22How about also the fact that he's leading the NBA in mid-range field goal percentage for anybody that's taking more than three a game.
13:31He gets them up from there.
13:3258% on mid-range jumpers.
13:38This is McConnell with the handle.
13:42Micah Potter also out there for Indiana, along with Jairus Walker.
13:48Walker will take the three.
13:51And not enough on it.
13:54Simon across the timeline.
13:57Simon got his step on the defender.
13:59Outside look.
14:00Walsh lost the handle momentarily.
14:03Ball on the floor.
14:04Garza dives on it.
14:05And Boston will call timeout.
14:08Joe had the mandatory media, so he's right there next to the ref as he calls it.
14:15Let's take a look at tonight's DraftKings live spread.
14:20Three-game numbers and what they are right now, identical.
14:23DraftKings, the number one sportsbook for live betting.
14:25To get in on the action, download the app, and use promo code DUNK when you sign up.
14:31He's really had no choice.
14:32Spicy P's been delivering 24 points per game.
14:35See his field goal attempts, his free throw attempts, use his rate, all of them up, and
14:39he's playing at an all-star caliber, Robbie.
14:41And think about, Michael, how much he's won.
14:43Whether it's at Toronto or from the time he's got here, they've won a lot of games.
14:47So to see the consistency, the only guy really on this roster that hasn't been hurt, he has
14:52delivered night in and night out.
14:55And Rick Carlisle was telling us before the game about his leadership style.
14:59You know, he's not going to be a rah-rah guy each and every game.
15:01He picks and chooses his points, and he has the most impact when he does that.
15:06Everybody on the team perks up when Pascal Siakam is talking.
15:09That ball deflected out of bounds.
15:113-0-8 to go in this opening period.
15:14As Derek White will check back in.
15:17We're going to see a lot of this without Jalen Brown.
15:19Those two guys are going to have to carry the offense a lot by themselves.
15:25McConnell will work it in.
15:26Walsh all over him.
15:27Inbound to Neesmith.
15:29Neesmith to Walker.
15:30Walker will step back.
15:31Now drive on Garza.
15:33Clock winding down.
15:34Can't go glass.
15:35Rebound Walsh.
15:37Good defense by Garza there.
15:38Just moving his feet and making that a tough contested one.
15:43Walsh.
15:45Back to Simons.
15:47Simons 0-2 so far.
15:49Driving on Shepard.
15:50Hanging in the air.
15:51That won't drop.
15:52Potter the rebound.
15:54Quickly ahead.
15:55Shepard to the rack.
15:58No good.
15:58No whistle.
15:59Celtics coming the other way.
16:01Really looked like he was going to get fouled instead of just going to score that thing.
16:04I thought if Ben Shepard just goes to dunk that ball, he gets it home.
16:10Simons.
16:11Skip pass to Walsh.
16:13Walsh travels.
16:16Celtics don't turn it over a bunch.
16:18It's their third turnover in this first quarter.
16:25Outside Shepard extra pass.
16:32Walker for three.
16:33No.
16:34Rebound Walsh.
16:35Indiana one for five from downtown in the first.
16:41White on the logo.
16:42Simons on the drive.
16:51In the lay.
16:52Scoop shot.
16:53Good.
16:53That will go down as a screen assist for Garza.
16:56And the Celtics seem to be trying to get Simons going.
16:59They're going to need his scoring.
17:01You can see Indiana's pace.
17:03They are not messing around.
17:05Boston better get back.
17:07They seem to try to take advantage.
17:08The Celtics slashed in the NBA in pace.
17:12White on the move.
17:13Attacking Potter.
17:15Advantage White.
17:16And Derek White loves when he gets to the right side of the floor open.
17:20Using his body.
17:21Going high glass.
17:23A 6-0.
17:24Boston run.
17:26And they lead by five.
17:28White.
17:29Right to the hoop.
17:3122-17.
17:32Boston games as we take a look at their scouting report.
17:35They won the last two after a franchise record 13-game losing streak.
17:41They've had 23 different starting lineups this season.
17:44That's by far the most in the NBA.
17:46And six of their eight wins so far this season have come at home.
17:51Brian Scalabrini is on the Boston sidelines.
17:53What did he get out of that last time out?
17:55Yeah.
17:55Joe said Indiana's doing a really good job of guarding their first action.
17:58But let's keep moving the ball.
17:59Get to the paint.
18:00Make that extra pass.
18:01For Indiana, it's good to watch.
18:03If Micah Potter's out there, he's had a big impact offensively.
18:06But on the defensive end of the floor, Boston is searching him out.
18:09There was a lot of encouragement between Jairus Walker and Micah Potter.
18:13If Jairus can stay on it, they want him guarding these guards.
18:17That's a good defensive possession right there for Boston.
18:19A shot clock violation.
18:22Fourth turnover for Indiana.
18:24Pacers started the game hitting six of their first ten shots.
18:27They've gone one for eight since.
18:30They had 36 points in the first quarter of their last win.
18:33Saturday over Miami.
18:35Sitting on 17 right now.
18:37And a foul is called Naismith.
18:39Can't believe it.
18:41So, Robbie, you talk about trying to keep Potter off of the guards.
18:49The Celtics are going to seek that matchup out.
18:50No question.
18:51And they're going to keep going and going and going.
18:53And they'll do it once, twice, three times until they get the matchup that they like.
18:57And they'll find they want to get the big away from the basket.
19:00But that replay we just saw, as physical as Derek White and Peyton Pritchard,
19:05and certainly Jalen Brown is excellent at this,
19:07as physical as they are getting to their pull-ups there,
19:10Aaron Neesmith felt like, man, what do you really want me to do?
19:13Yeah, that was a tough call.
19:15No question.
19:18Officials believe that White was bumped off his line to the rim.
19:22Because all these guards now, it's like the end thing to do.
19:25They are just diving that shoulder to the point of it not being an offensive foul,
19:30but enough to knock that defender back.
19:32It's so hard to guard people in this league.
19:37White coming off a 29-point performance in that loss Saturday to San Antonio.
19:41McConnell surveying the floor.
19:44Indiana down by seven.
19:49McConnell over to Neesmith.
19:52Mid-range J.
19:53Well off the mark for Neesmith.
19:56And the ball tipped up and off.
19:57Potter keeping it alive!
19:59And Boston-Warrens a shot clock violation,
20:02and he said that was all glass.
20:04But give credit to Micah Potter for hanging in there and making a play.
20:11Spot on one of those new guys to join Indiana during the season.
20:15And it'll go against Cal.
20:17Three-second different shot in game clock.
20:19White and Potter.
20:21White attacking again.
20:24And through contact, no whistle.
20:26It's going to be Indiana ball with 3.3 on the game clock.
20:29Got to watch C.J. McConnell in these situations.
20:34And they're going to hold for a substitution,
20:36and Scheinman will check in.
20:38And Garza will take a seat.
20:48Neesmith.
20:49Over to Walker, and they don't get the shot off in time.
20:52Just 19 points, Randy, out of this opening frame.
20:57A five-point advantage for the Celtics.
21:04All right, you guys are up right now.
21:05Do you like the pace that you guys are playing at?
21:07We're doing a great job defensively.
21:09Let at least the team get one shot.
21:10It's a fast-paced team.
21:12We just got to keep the momentum offensively for ourselves.
21:15How do you balance crashing the offensive board but still getting back?
21:18Well, we got to do a good job both of them right now.
21:20Because once we crash the offensive rebounds,
21:22they limit them transitioning.
21:24They got to rebound the basketball.
21:25All right, Tim, appreciate your time.
21:26Thank you, brother.
21:28Boston Limited, Indiana, to 38% shooting in that first quarter.
21:32One for six from downtown.
21:34Robbie Hummel, what was the word in the Pacers' huddle during the timeout?
21:37Michael, it was a lot of vocal activity,
21:39especially from Pascal Siakam.
21:41You kind of hit on some of the leadership qualities that he's shown.
21:44But it was all about getting your energy up,
21:45that they want to get stops so they can get out and go.
21:48Oh, certainly this Indiana team has played with a lot of pace.
21:51You think about it, over the last five games coming in,
21:54they've averaged 118 points a game,
21:56only 19 in that first quarter.
21:58See if the pace can kind of jumpstart them.
22:01Gave up a layup.
22:02Decatur to start this second quarter.
22:04Mid-range game.
22:06Siakam couldn't hit.
22:07Here comes Simons for Boston.
22:11Simons.
22:11Over to White.
22:14White goes mid-range and connects.
22:17It's a totally different Derrick White when Jalen Brown is not here.
22:20He's aggressive in different ways.
22:22He's running the show, but he's looking for his spots to score.
22:25But, Scout, how hard is it to guard when he's got a full head of steam?
22:28Almost like he's driving it before he's even caught it.
22:30It was really good by Derrick White.
22:32People talk about Derrick White, his processing motor,
22:35and how he can see the game ahead of most guys, and that's part of it.
22:40Turnaround, Jay McConnell, long-go, tipped up and off by Potter.
22:44Right now, Boston is locking down.
22:46There is nothing easy for Indiana.
22:49White, outside look, Walsh, extra pass, three ball, one go in the corner for Simons.
22:56Indiana a little bit fortunate there.
22:58I don't think I'm rotating two Jordan Walsh from Anthony Simons.
23:01I'm going to live with Walsh as three.
23:04Siaki, outside Walker, McConnell, Potter, three.
23:10He has been unconscious since getting here.
23:12Mike and Potter gets the promotion up from the G League.
23:15He's shooting 46% from three on the year.
23:20Makes it a six-point ball game.
23:23Gonzalez back up top to White.
23:26White, firing, and hitting.
23:29So that's a lot of action, all to get Derrick White going on an isolation.
23:36McConnell.
23:38Back up top, Neesmith.
23:40Goal.
23:41How good was that flair right there from Potter?
23:44It's shaking out a body.
23:46And if you're guarding Aaron Neesmith, you better be running one all over the floor.
23:49Pin down to flair, the whole deal.
23:52Simons at the elbow, Swiss.
23:54Ooh, Kena took a shot.
23:56Kena took a shot.
23:57He's on the floor.
23:58Indiana momentarily has numbers.
24:01I don't know if they recognize it.
24:03Siakam, bucket, and the foul.
24:06Siakam.
24:10I think even Boston was a little bit late to recognize Derrick White coming over late on the play.
24:15But, Scal, here's the Kena shot.
24:17Yeah, Inferno elevates up.
24:19Kena took a major shot in the back of the head.
24:21They didn't even call a foul.
24:23That could have been a playground.
24:25Yeah, easily.
24:26Late to the recognition here.
24:28Derrick White coming over.
24:29Pascal Siaka, maybe that gets some of his offense going.
24:33That's Derrick White with the whole right side of the floor wide open.
24:36He's got that foul earlier.
24:38Derrick White slams on the brakes.
24:42Where Carlisle telling us before the game, speaking of Derrick White,
24:44he's an underrated marvel of a player.
24:47I think everybody loves and respects Derrick White.
24:50Let's have an unbelievable defensive season with the steals and the blocks.
24:57Simons.
24:58Fires over Huff.
25:00No good.
25:01Rebound Siakam.
25:03Nimhor pushing it ahead to Walker.
25:05Walker to Huff.
25:06Huff couldn't control it.
25:11White at the controls.
25:12Walsh over to Gonzalez.
25:14Fires.
25:15No good.
25:16Long rebound to White.
25:18Outside.
25:19Simons for three.
25:20And it drops.
25:22Oh, no.
25:23But iron and through.
25:24These people got to be, buckle up.
25:27We call that the Anferno when he gets going.
25:31Nevar.
25:32This is Jackson from downtown.
25:36With the trifecta.
25:37I think where's the offense going to come from?
25:39Indiana a little bit sluggish offensively.
25:41How about Quinton Jackson?
25:43He started the last two, only five points a game.
25:45Massive shot right there.
25:47Walsh.
25:48No.
25:49Rebound Siakam.
25:51Gonzalez mistimed the jump.
25:53Walker.
25:54Step throw.
25:55The floater is good over four defenders.
25:59You can see it.
26:00This shot, main shot.
26:01Indiana is looking to push it every time out here.
26:05Whole Foods a couple of games ago.
26:08Rick Carlisle, 1,000th career win and a victory over the Hornets.
26:12He says, enough splash at me and we get Johnny Furphy here.
26:16Give him the game ball.
26:18We'll dap up from Tyrese Halliburton.
26:20A special moment for Rick Carlisle.
26:2324 seasons as an NBA head coach.
26:26He's in Detroit, won Coach of the Year there, won a championship in Dallas
26:29and was on the cusp of winning one.
26:32Or at least had a chance before Tyrese Halliburton in the Achilles.
26:36Asked him before the game, had he had time to reflect on getting win number 1,000
26:41and what an accomplishment that it is.
26:44And he said, well, I was just happy to win a game.
26:47He lost 13 in a row, which was a franchise record.
26:51And just getting the win was meaningful.
26:54But make no mistake about it, he's one of the best coaches to ever run the sidelines.
26:57Well, Michael, hopefully at some point he does
27:00because the other 10 guys that have accomplished this are all Hall of Famers.
27:03So hopefully one day Rick Carlisle will look at this and be like,
27:07yeah, that was a pretty good achievement.
27:09He's locked in.
27:10Oh, we got a one-point ball game.
27:14Another really good screen there.
27:16That time it's Siakam just finding a body.
27:18And for Jay Huff, that had to feel good to see that thing go down
27:22after the struggles against Miami.
27:24Indiana on an 8-0 run.
27:26That is stopped by Anthony Simons getting to the rack.
27:29Another play designed by Joe Mazzou to get Anthony Simons going.
27:34That's the vote off his path by Sam Houser.
27:37You can see Siakam.
27:41He is finding a body on the first, and now it's pinning him in on the second one.
27:46Honestly, Siakam could have screened his own man.
27:48He'd get Kata right there.
27:50That's really good execution there by the Pacers out of the timeout.
27:53He's going to take away that pick-and-pop.
27:55Nembhard.
27:570 for 3 so far.
27:58Sets up Huff.
27:59Huff out to Walker.
28:01Walker.
28:02High-arcing 3.
28:03Swiss.
28:04Boston looking to take away that pick-and-pop.
28:06Houser's not stunned.
28:07He's full rotating.
28:09That leaves Jarris Walker to clean it up on the backside.
28:11Indiana has evened things up at 38 apiece.
28:20Simons going dancing with Nembhard.
28:22Bottoms.
28:23Oh, that was filthy.
28:25Carl Manferno.
28:26He's officially out in his first half, and the Celtics are going to need a boost in scoring.
28:32Anthony Simons is providing that.
28:35Boston back up by 3.
28:37Huff to tie it up again.
28:38He knew it was just a matter of time, right?
28:41He's made shots in this league for far too long.
28:44And now that J. Huff's got it going.
28:46That pick-and-pop can be lethal.
28:49Simons.
28:51He's admitted by Quinn Jackson.
28:52Free-throw line jumper.
28:55There's nothing you can do about that.
28:57That's where you just can't let him get his head up, right, Scal?
29:00And now, good luck turning it off.
29:03Huff.
29:04No good.
29:05Kane to the rebound.
29:07Simons.
29:08In his element right now.
29:10He said three ball.
29:12No.
29:18Indiana trailing by two.
29:21And whistle under the basket.
29:24We'll see just how aggressive Boston is going to be here now that J. Huff has knocked down a couple.
29:29Look at Sam Houser.
29:31He is so aware of the pick-and-pop.
29:33It's a full-on rotation.
29:35And now it's one more pass here to the corner.
29:38Great read from J. Huff.
29:39Take a dribble.
29:40Swing that thing.
29:41And Jarris Walker does the rest.
29:44Indiana was one for six from three-point range.
29:46In that first quarter, they've knocked down six three-pointers here in the second quarter.
29:52Their three-point shooting is another thing.
29:54You know, that offensive rating has climbed.
29:56Their pace has climbed.
29:57Three-point shooting.
29:58Lock-a-lock.
29:59Bucket and the foul.
30:01Pascal Siakam.
30:02An opportunity to give Indiana the lead.
30:05Yeah, the Suns have made some adjustments with their defense.
30:08They're putting Garza in the trap.
30:09But look at that.
30:11In that short-run position, good play by Walker.
30:16Joe was concerned with that during our meeting.
30:19Talked about how to play.
30:21Garza's going to play up.
30:22He's going to get back.
30:23What we're susceptible to if we're in that coverage.
30:26A three-point play.
30:30Siakam, eight points.
30:33And make it nine.
30:35As Indiana on top by one.
30:39Celtics, third in the Eastern Conference.
30:46Two wins already this season over Indiana.
30:50Pritchard on the drive.
30:52Got caught in the air.
30:54Outside to Sierman.
30:55Four on the sat clock.
30:57Sierman put it up with the left.
30:58One go.
30:59What a play by Quinton Jackson from the backside there.
31:02He'll just stay in that thing and get a piece.
31:04Buck got two in the air.
31:06Oh!
31:07Went through a verse.
31:08Plus!
31:08Time at Boston!
31:10He did it for fun!
31:11Oh!
31:12Oh!
31:12Oh!
31:17He loves it.
31:18The athleticism from Jay Huff.
31:21Boy, the king of the reverse jam.
31:23I didn't even know he was going to get there.
31:24But the full-on stretch out there.
31:27You got Baylor Sierman there.
31:29He had the angle but not the intent.
31:31Jay Huff doing what he does best.
31:33Throwing it down reverse.
31:35Jay Huff, he has a cool name and he loves to dunk it in reverse.
31:40Halliburton mind-blown.
31:42Mind-blown.
31:42Ha-ha-ha.
31:43Ha-ha-ha.
31:44Ha-ha-ha.
31:44Just in case you missed it the first time, this is what I did.
31:46Ha-ha-ha.
31:47Ha-ha.
31:47Ha-ha.
31:48Indiana's outscored Boston 27-19 here in the second quarter after putting up just 19 in
31:54the first period.
31:55Garza couldn't hit from point-blank, but follows it up and puts it through.
31:59Garza's been a beast on the offensive glass.
32:02Him and Keita, as a group, the last five games have been averaging about 18 points and 18 rebounds.
32:09And Indiana's going to have to clean up what Jay Huff can test.
32:12Some of these guards have got to crack down and help on the defensive glass.
32:15That's an easy reverse dunk.
32:18That one had perfect.
32:20The other one was more for show.
32:23He had to get that thing up quick.
32:24Jay Huff, 14 points in this first half for Huff.
32:32Garza, first here in Boston coming over by the Sun.
32:35He just decked Neesmith.
32:37Outside, Pritchard for three.
32:39Go on!
32:41Garza with a Garzilla type of screen.
32:44And he missed a nice play out to Pritchard in that short roll.
32:48Between Kanan and Garza, Boston's got some bigs that'll light you up.
32:51Neesmith is lonely.
32:53Go on!
32:54Give him that type of look right there.
32:56Touch the pair and spray it out.
32:59Neesmith, 40% from three over the last four.
33:02How about Indiana with a 17 assist in the first half?
33:06Making plays for each other.
33:09On 20 field goals.
33:11Hauser on the drive.
33:16Gave it up to White.
33:18White, the runner, drops.
33:21Derrick White never stopped moving during that play.
33:23Always finding angles.
33:24Indiana is 7-for-7 from downtown here in the second quarter.
33:31Neesmith thought he was fouled.
33:33Quickly up ahead.
33:34Sireman lost his balance.
33:36Found Hauser.
33:37Hauser can't hit.
33:38Rebound tipped up and secured by Neesmith.
33:43Neesmith to the rack.
33:45Can't hit.
33:46Back-to-back play.
33:47Oh, Garza threw it off the back of Hauser and then recovers.
33:50Neesmith with some real missed opportunities.
33:55Neesmith, 2-for-5 so far.
33:58Approaching three minutes to go in this first half.
34:02White, pull up, Jay is good.
34:04Indiana doesn't have an answer for the Luka Garza screen.
34:08Guys are getting open or Garza's giving a free run at the rim.
34:13He's a total eclipse.
34:14Tonight on Peacock, check out Peacock Performance View.
34:17A whole new way to watch with real-time stats, live shot data, and player tracking.
34:23Dime deeper into the action of Peacock.
34:26Like a video game.
34:30Indiana's been like a video game from downtown.
34:33Man, look at that screen.
34:34This is a green boy.
34:35That is a hard screen.
34:36Luka Garza on Neesmith.
34:39Know your role.
34:42But Scala, if you look at the per-36 screen assist, you know, Luka Garza doesn't play enough minutes to be in the top ten, but per-36, he is elite.
34:51Second in the NBA at that, and Kato's not far behind him.
34:55Kato will get you through both those guys.
34:59Nembhard, that won't go for him.
35:03Derek White, the little ginger getting up there, slipped on the floor.
35:08White, 11 points so far.
35:11Pritchard now, the sizing up Potter.
35:14On the move, got some space and hits.
35:19That's Pritchard Cookin.
35:20He actually loves the big matchup, and he loves to take him to the paint.
35:25I know what Potter is feeling, right?
35:28It's not enjoyable, let me tell you.
35:32Siakam can't stop a 6-0 Boston run.
35:36Celtics by three.
35:42Pritchard now operating on Shepard.
35:47Pritchard in the lane.
35:49Gave it up to Kato.
35:51Got it back on the handoff.
35:52Five on the shot clock.
35:53Pritchard stops, pops off the heel, tapped out and out of bounds, and it will stay with Boston.
36:02We'll get a fresh 14.
36:04Yeah, Peyton Pritchard loves the bigs, and watch him give him the body right there to create space.
36:11Scal, how good was the effort there from Ben Shepard on that last possession to not be able to get that switch there to Potter?
36:18He gave a great effort.
36:20No question.
36:20The conditioning level, the guarded guy who's relentless on Pritchard is so difficult.
36:26White, got Neesmith in the air, pull up Jay, long, Kato, great job of boxing out, is fouled from behind by Potter.
36:37Indian is going to have to find a way to keep Kato off the glass.
36:40He's got 17 offensive rebounds the last three.
36:43He just, it's a foul from the jump right there.
36:48Yeah, Potter is a good player, but he is getting exposed defensively in this first half.
36:56Well, he's come in and shot the ball and given Indiana's offense so much space.
37:01The way he's shot, he's been in double figures in four of the last five.
37:04He's only shot the ball at such a high clip.
37:07But, yeah, definitely, there's no doubt that the Boston, they're going to take his temperature until he can prove they can stop it.
37:14Pritchard, well, they got it into Hauser.
37:16Pritchard, 90 seconds to go here in the second quarter.
37:22Beautiful feed, Pritchard got loose.
37:24An old school screen to screener, they don't want to leave Hauser's body.
37:28Pritchard gets a layup.
37:30Eighth unanswered by the Celtics.
37:32Inside, Siakam.
37:36Having a great shot there.
37:38The Pacers taking advantage of the switch.
37:40Set that ball screen, get your match up and go to work inside.
37:44Five of seven shooting for Siakam.
37:46Eleven points.
37:47Pritchard can't hit.
37:49And battling.
37:50Nearly took it away from Nimhorn.
37:53Nimhorn.
37:54Outside to Huff.
37:56Stolen by White.
37:57White off to the races.
37:59Attacking Siakam.
38:00Kept the pivot.
38:01Outside.
38:02Pritchard.
38:03Three ball.
38:04No.
38:05And it's secured by Siakam.
38:12Forty seconds to go in the second.
38:17Nimhorn.
38:20Over to Neesmith.
38:21Long range three.
38:22And the struggles continue.
38:30Rough second for Neesmith as we take a look at the upcoming national TV schedule.
38:34Spurs, Thunder, Blazers, Warriors tomorrow on Peacock and NBC, ESPN, Cleveland, Philly, Denver, Dallas.
38:41From where on these games, go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app.
38:48Four-second different shot game clock.
38:52White fires.
38:56He went in contact there.
38:57Can't hit.
38:58Rebound.
38:59Snack by Furphy.
39:00Three seconds.
39:01Furphy.
39:02Finally sees the clock.
39:03Fires.
39:04Long go.
39:05Pacers put up numbers in that second quarter.
39:08The second quarter.
39:1134 in the period.
39:13But they trail by three at the break.
39:1556-53.
39:17Boston on top as we send it back to the studio to Ahmed.
39:20All right.
39:22Thank you, Michael.
39:23Coming up on American Express at the half, we thought it was going to be the Celtics with
39:26the three-point shot.
39:27It's been the Indiana Pacers.
39:28We'll talk about that.
39:29D. Fish.
39:29Ahmed, we think Austin Rivers is still in the building somewhere.
39:32We're going to try to locate him.
39:34That's the drama.
39:35You wondered who would step up for the Boston Celtics without Jalen Brown.
39:40Anthony Simons got 12 shots.
39:42He's got 14 points.
39:44Boston with a three-point lead on the road.
39:46Game You Can Trust presented by American Express.
39:49You got Derek White.
39:50You got Anthony Simons.
39:5214 and 13 apiece, but we got a nail-biter at the break.
39:56Ahmed Farid here with Derek Fisher.
39:58And we found him.
39:58Austin Rivers.
39:59Where were you, Austin?
40:00I was eating some snacks, man.
40:02Oh, yeah.
40:02The food got him.
40:03A couple of coffee.
40:04He's staying awake, staying alert here.
40:06It's a great elite spread here.
40:07Derek can attest to that.
40:09Agreed, agreed.
40:10First half, a tight one.
40:11What was your biggest takeaway from what we saw?
40:13Right now, a balance of attack.
40:14And then just talk about the bench points.
40:15Both teams, 18 points off the bench.
40:17Anthony Simons, obviously, he was a huge step up.
40:19We talked about the absent of Jalen Brown, who would fulfill that void.
40:23He certainly has answered the bell in the first half.
40:25And then, obviously, with the Pacers, you're seeing Bigfella stepping out,
40:29hitting some threes.
40:30I'm used to the reverse dunks.
40:32I didn't know they were setting flare screens for my man.
40:34Jay Huff, it's my new favorite play in basketball, the over-the-head dunk.
40:38But this is a Pacers team now.
40:39Now, I know no Jalen Brown for the Celtics, but two wins in a row,
40:43maybe looking for their first three-game winning streak.
40:45What have you seen from Indiana specifically?
40:47Consistency in their style of play.
40:4918 assists on 21 made field goals.
40:52And so whether Halliburton is in or not, Matherin in or not,
40:55they're playing the similar style of basketball that led them to the NBA Finals this season ago.
40:59Sure, sure.
40:59We've been talking about the three-point shot for the Celtics 3 and D team.
41:02It's the Pacers.
41:03That's been a real weapon for them.
41:04And it was in the second quarter.
41:06What did you see, D. Fish?
41:07Just that continued ball movement.
41:09I mean, Jay Huff's ability to shoot the three out of the timeout here,
41:12sideline on the bounce.
41:13A little bit of a drag screen into zoom action on the backside.
41:18And then watch the flare screen as the ball handler comes off.
41:21Siakam sets that little flare screen, catches Kater slipping.
41:24Jay Huff knocks it down.
41:25Here, kind of a slow, kind of double drag.
41:28Siakam blasts out of there.
41:30And then quick decision.
41:31Nimhart not over dribbling.
41:33Ball comes out to Jay Huff and knocks it down.
41:35Very simple league sometimes.
41:36You make or miss.
41:38Pacers are making a lot in the second quarter.
41:39Eight for 15 from beyond the arc for the Pacers in the game so far.
41:43So the key to the second half will be what for either side here, Austin?
41:47Well, I think someone has to take control of the game.
41:49You know, right now it's been evenly played.
41:50Like you said, I think if you're Boston, you have to figure out ways to maybe slow this
41:54game down.
41:54They don't play at the same pace as the Pacers.
41:56So if they can maybe play their style of play where this doesn't feed in to Indiana,
42:00getting so many opportunities, the assist, the ball pops.
42:03That's how this team wins games is by community.
42:06Yeah.
42:06It's just playing at a high pace, the ball flying around, multiple guys getting double digits,
42:10multiple guys dribbling and kicking.
42:13They've got to try to slow this game down instead of playing at that pace.
42:15Not a high scoring half, but still you think too fast for the Boston Celtics.
42:19If we're picking at straws here, we're talking about, yeah, you know, trying to separate
42:23yourselves.
42:23You know, that's one way you can do it.
42:25And then obviously just the Celtics being able to just close this game will be a key.
42:28Obviously, you see Indiana has Pascal Siakam.
42:31They have a guy that they can close the game with.
42:32It'll be interesting to see without Tatum and Brown when this game gets close down the
42:35stretch, who closes it.
42:37Yeah.
42:37At home, the Pacers are going to shoot better, right?
42:39They're more comfortable.
42:40They've been in this building.
42:41If the Celtics can't turn the Pacers over, it's going to be difficult for them to try and close
42:46this game out.
42:46So defensively, they have to figure out schematically what can they do?
42:50Can they instill some traps?
42:51Can they trap and pick and roll?
42:53Can they do something to force some errors that can get them out?
42:56Zero fast break points in the first half.
42:59Even if you play slow for an NBA team, you still need something on the fast break to stimulate
43:03offense.
43:03It's a fascinating season for both of these teams playing without a superstar.
43:07Boston tonight playing without 2C.
43:09Which role players will step up?
43:11We'll find out in the second half here.
43:12Here is the halftime leaders for the Peacock scorecard.
43:15You can check your score on the Peacock TV or mobile app.
43:19Congratulations, Dying Frame 48.
43:21Great first half, but it's all about the second half, as these guys know.
43:25That's a nice name.
43:26You can play.
43:26That's a great name.
43:27That's an elite name.
43:28Here's our guy, Jay Hoff.
43:29This is my favorite play in the NBA currently.
43:31Look at this.
43:32Oh, just over the head.
43:34He does it every game now.
