00:00Phoenix Suns forward Dylan Brooks received his 13th technical foul of the season during Sunday

00:06night's 112.93 victory over the Washington Wizards, with 43 regular season games remaining.

00:13Brooks is now just three technical fouls away from an automatic one-game suspension.

00:17Brooks stated that nine of those technicals are well-deserved. Regarding the others,

00:21he believes they are related to a different issue. They give me a technical for who I am,

00:52Brooks is referring to referee Scott Twardoski. Throughout his career, Brooks has been known for

00:59accumulating technical fouls due to his style of play. He had 13 technicals in his first three NBA

01:04seasons, but has recorded at least 10 in each of the last six seasons. Over that six-season span,

01:11including the current one, Brooks leads the entire NBA with 85 technical fouls. Dallas Mavericks guard

01:17Luka Doncic is second with 80 and Golden State Warriors forward. Draymond Green is third with

01:2477. Brooks set a career high of 18 technical fouls in the 2022-23 season with the Memphis Grizzlies and

01:33received 16 last season with the Houston Rockets with 13 technicals through 33 games this season.

01:39He is on pace to exceed his previous totals.

02:25He added that after receiving two technical fouls in the game, he made two three-pointers.

02:29In the Suns' win, Brooks contributed 16 points, one rebound and one assist, shooting four.

02:47Brooks is having a career best season, averaging 21.2 points per game, which is nearly three points

02:52higher than his previous career. High with the Grizzlies. He is also averaging more than seven

02:55points per game more than he did last season. With the Rockets, his field goal percentage is

03:00a career-high 45.6%, and he is shooting 35.6% from three-point range, aligning with his career

03:08average. Beyond his frustrations with technical fouls, Brooks mentioned the need for clarity on

03:13the hand-contact rule. It's like the hand rule where they hit your hand on the shots. I don't get

03:19what meets the criteria to what doesn't, Brooks said, because shoot, they made the rule because I used

03:25to do that. And Steve Kerr cried about it all day, and that's why they made the rule. He suggested

03:31the NBA should review the rule during the All-Star break to better define what constitutes a foul,

03:36ensuring better understanding for the second half of the season and the playoffs. Brooks believes this

03:41would allow players to know the allowable physicality and that players, not referees,

03:46should dictate the flow of the game. The Suns have won three consecutive games, hold a 24.15 record,

03:53and are currently sixth in the Western Conference. Brooks is second on the team in both minutes

03:58played and points per game, and he leads the Suns in personal fouls per game. Phoenix begins a six-game
