00:57This is a huge concern, a public health message, because alcohol at any stage can cause a lifelong disability.
01:04Under the rules, only products packaged after the first of August 2023 must carry the mandated warnings.
01:11But researchers say there's no way to know if the unlabeled products being sold are old stock or if the alcohol industry is dragging its feet.
01:20Because we don't have access to packaging date information, it means actual assessment of compliance really difficult.
01:27Alcohol Beverages Australia says mostly aged wine and spirits lack the mandated labels.
