00:00The Route 2 Maxi Taxi Association is looking into reports from members of the public
00:06that a few drivers have taken it upon themselves to increase fares without authorization.
00:13It has been alleged and it has been brought to our attention that one or two of the drivers has been doing that.
00:21Now, we have not done anything like that.
00:24We have put out notices on all the media platforms that our fares remains the same
00:30and unless further notice from the Route 2 Association, we have the same fares structure.
00:38The association says while it does have some leads, more evidence is needed.
00:44Have you been able to kind of narrow down what's your end on who the culverts are?
00:48Not specifically, because what the public needs to do if somebody do that to them
00:55is actually take a number plate, bring it to our attention and we will speak to the drivers about it.
01:03Members of the travelling public who encounter this dishonest practice are advised to stand their ground.
01:10So, what passengers need to do is ask the driver for the tariff, which was implemented in November 2021,
01:21ask the drivers to see the tariff to verify and confirm if we have increased fares.
01:27No, we haven't.
01:29So, you advise members of the public not to pay an increased fares?
01:33No, our short drop remains the same at $5.
01:37Nothing has been increased in none of our routes.
01:40We have five routes.
01:42Nothing has been increased.
01:44Meantime, Association President Brendan Knight says
01:47some maxi drivers are also feeling the effect of the traffic violation crackdown by authorities,
01:53with some drivers having their PBR passes taken away.
01:57And we did have some drivers who, 2026 pass, wasn't renewed, and they confiscated a few.
02:06But we're working on that for them to get back into the system.
02:09Can we talk about the main drivers?
02:11To the best of my knowledge, I know about an average of about five of them.
02:15But in all, we have a couple of them who fall in the caption of late renewal, about 150.
02:21But that is just the figure coming out of the ministry.
