00:00It's 140, 600 metres.
00:07Oh, putain.
00:08Putain.
00:11We're in a fesh-fesh.
00:12Don't be careful.
00:15I don't see anything.
00:17I understand.
00:18Get out of there.
00:19Try to get out of there.
00:23I don't see anything.
00:27The overnight marathon bivouac, not exactly luxury,
00:29but home for the night and breathtakingly beautiful.
00:34One thing is sure, the place, it's amazing.
00:36You know, I mean, the landscape, it's so great.
00:40But it is pretty dang cool.
00:42I mean, look at this.
00:43Look at this view.
00:44It's like a model, it seems to shine.
00:47Yeah, something.
00:48And then the...
00:55We're here.
00:56We're here.
00:57We're at the end.
00:58We have another problem to solve.
01:00I'm waiting for my pasta now.
01:07Yeah, it's pretty cool.
01:13We've done everything we could do alone.
01:15We're waiting for the car.
01:17And this is Monday and Miriam'sパyrus.
01:19I'm 20 seconds shoel puedo.
01:20When I go and 45 seconds shoel rider.
01:21Il poê qu马zoi is still part of the ship.
01:24Really?
01:25I'm 20 seconds.
01:26Oh, yeah.
01:27So big kier.
01:28And it's a day at survive.
01:29Yes, this is at a time of shoulder hair,
01:30from what it's going to be really long.
01:31It's still a day to survive today, and it's going to be long because it's still a lot of sand and stones.
02:01Guillaume de Mevius. Mechanical misery on Tuesday, more mechanical misery yesterday, more mechanical misery overnight and more mechanical misery today. Over three hours lost, but they're not giving up.
02:16Toby Price and Armand Monleon are a pretty new pairing, but making progress. 20 minutes lost today, though. 25th place.
02:24Carlos Sainz and Matthias Ekstrom drove together for much of the day at the back of a very strong front group, mostly Ford.
02:32The 2024 champion was sixth, 5.23 off the lead, two seconds behind Ekstrom.
02:44Seb Loeb enjoyed himself out there. The rally legend finished outside the top ten, but still closed in on the overall lead.
02:51It does make sense, Rally Ray, doesn't it? His tenth participation, and Loeb is very much in the fight.
02:58Today it was good. It was a great special. We had to put a little more gas, and it was a pleasure.
03:04Loeb's teammate Cristina Gutierrez finished 13th, somehow catching the sand rider after that dramatic endo.
03:10Big crash for Jesus Caleja. The Spaniards is a TV presenter back home. This, though, was definitely not in the script.
03:22No driver has held the overall lead for consecutive days until now.
03:27Henk Lattergen and navigator Brett Cummings opened the way from start to finish just ahead of Nasser Aletier and Fabien Lerquin.
03:33It was an experience camping out in the desert under the stars. It was really, really nice.
03:38They put us in a nice area, so all happy with that. Happy that it's finished and happy that I can have a proper shower now. But, yeah, it was nice.
03:46The podium was entirely made up of Fords. Martin Prokop at 43 is hardly a dinosaur, but his Raptor is delivering some mammoth results since he switched cars.
03:55So today was clean drive, and then the result is so good, so there is no special key. Like, I would like to have every day like this, but it's not so easy.
04:10Nani Roma appeared to have won today's stage, but a ten-minute speeding penalty dropped him down to second. Still the best result of the rally so far for him, though, Ford Racing. All four of their factory drivers in the top six.
04:25In the end, we ended up with a speed limit. We made a mistake, and that's it. The mistakes have to pay.
04:38Not only had no driver led for two days running, but no one had won two stages before today. Mitch Guthrie, super impressive taking the second day of the marathon.
04:48Guthrie Jr., son of the legendary UTV racer Mitch Guthrie Sr., was 1.06 quicker than the field.
04:53I always say the competition is crazy here, so to win a stage is not easy at all, and as we can see today, we had to push really hard, but it makes us, it's a good feeling to know that we can do that.
05:08The gap at the front is just over three minutes, with Lassaken ahead of Alatia and all the Fords, but keep an eye on Lerb sitting in eighth overall, waiting to pounce.
05:15Before the bikes, and while we see what happened at a very quiet hail bivouac, a quick-fire lesson on bib mousse. Apologies if you know this already.
05:23It's a foam insert that goes inside the tyre to prevent flats. If the tyre gets cut, the lubricant sprays out, the mousse dries.
05:29Then the tyre heats up, the mousse gets cooked, and eventually flies out too. The tyre gets soft and degrades. Massive issues, as you'll see.
05:37Day two of the marathon doubleheader.
05:40Well, here we are.
05:41In the bikes today was all about tyres, so if you think you'll get tired of tyre talk, I suggest you retire entirely from this bit of the show. It's up to you, I'm no tyrant.
05:52The plan is to try and keep the tyre closed.
06:01If my tyre fails, then that'll be the end of it.
06:04We'll try to arrive safe, the bike safe to the bivouac.
06:17It should be okay. We're praying to the rally gods that we can continue pushing and it doesn't destroy anyone's race.
06:25But destroy someone's race it did, I'm afraid. More than one rider too.
06:2888k into the special, a piece of wire got caught in VBA's wheel and caused him to stop.
06:34The car wasn't finished, but it's certainly bad.
06:38Van Beveren is now more than 32 minutes back.
06:41Edgar Canet led today until, like many others, he had bib mousse issues in his rear wheel and lost four hours 36.
06:47When the tyre was starting to go out of the tyre, we managed to put it with everything we have in the pocket, so yeah.
06:57Ross Branch was firing on all cylinders yesterday, but the mousse in his wheel melted too after 100k.
07:01The mousse ended with a deficit of one hour 17.
07:05Mousse has finished and just got to try and survive to the end. Just see if we can stay in the rally at the moment.
07:12Whatever they do is not my problem. My only problem today is to just take it as easy as possible and get to the finish.
07:18And how's this for a comeback from Skyler? A fantastic ride from the Californian. He avoided catastrophe and remains a top lip hot tip for the race.
07:27Kevin Benavides won stage eight in Heil in 2024. Two years on, his brother Luciano has tasted victory in the same place.
07:32No deje de creerte al final y darle y darle a fondo, así que ha salido bien y estoy muy muy feliz.
07:41Hero Motorsports Nacho Cornejo showed good pace and overtook Daniel Sanders, Branch and Howes. Stage ten in 24 was the last time he finished in the top two.
07:49This marathon stage was definitely carnage between yesterday crashes, people breaking tires today also, so it was a tough one.
07:58What do you get if you add together the action on the track, plus all the bib moose shenanigans, plus a Tosha Shirena 10 minute penalty for failing to respect the signs on leaving the bivouac, plus a solid ride from Chucky Sanders.
08:10The defending champ retaking the lead of Dakar 2026, that's what. 2-0-2 is the gap to Ricky in second. The virtual overall lead switched between them all day. This will be the battle that grips us for the upcoming days.
08:21And the day after his and Cove's first Dakar success, Niels Derrick doubled that tally in Rally 2. The Frenchman won ahead of Konrad Dabrowski and Preston Campbell, who has a 20 minute lead in the standings.
08:37A stunning drive in the closing part of the special from Lucas del Rio gave him a second victory ahead of Pau Navarro and Dania Akil. Just 28 seconds between the top three, Navarro leaves Saidan.
08:48T4 and a name we haven't mentioned yet, Kyle Chaney, the American one, and in doing so, continued his record of being top ten every single race day so far. Brock Heger still has a significant lead.
08:59He's here, he's here, he's here, he's here, he's here.
09:04Come on, come on! Come on, come on!
09:08God! We're almost shooting again.
09:10Oh no! What are you doing?
09:12Oh, there's another one there.
09:15God, what a frightful!
09:17Oh god, what a frightful!
09:18Oh, look at that one!
09:19Yeah, he's incredible!
09:37Despite battling all day with Martin Maciek, technical problems saw Mitchell van den Brink
09:41take his foot off the gas and come third.
09:48It was a mixed day for the Hutzink family, Gert out of the special but rookie Kay seconded
09:54his first podium finish.
09:56And that left two-time defending champion Martin Maciek to win back-to-back stages.
10:10Yeah, it was nice, man.
10:12We were fighting the whole stage with Mitchell van den Brink.
10:18It was great two marathon stages, huh?
10:23Maciek remains eight minutes ahead.
10:26Well, never did I think I would use the word bib-mousse so many times in one day.
10:29Quite frankly, I'm tired of it.
10:31But weariness, exhaustion, disappointment, toil and trouble are all an integral part of the
10:35Dakar experience.
10:36And as if these guys and girls haven't been tested enough, tomorrow is the toughest day
10:40of this 48th edition of the world's most punishing event in motorsport.
10:45Catch you tomorrow, rally fans.
10:46.
10:57.
10:59.
