00:00The problem is with magnet fishing I've found, is that you get something rather nice, you think, you haul it in, then what do you do with it?
00:07Well, I'll tell you what you do, you leave it by the side of the river when it would be much nicer to be back in the river.
00:11What do you do? You weigh it in for scrap.
00:13Exactly, you weigh it in for scrap.
00:15Oh, I can't be bothered with any of that stuff.
00:17I've just had a thought.
00:18Yeah.
00:19I could weigh you in.
00:20I'm not very heavy.
00:22I wouldn't get much, would I?
00:23Well, there's a lot of...
00:24Unless he's alloy.
00:24I'm holding some washers.
00:26I'm Henry Cole.
00:30That is beautiful.
00:31I love it.
00:32And along with fellow fanatic Fuzz Townsend...
00:35In we go.
00:36Wow.
00:37We're back on the hunt for vintage treasures.
00:39Look, even more.
00:40In the nation's sheds.
00:41Oh, my God, it's a treasure trove.
00:43We're going to buy them.
00:44That's fantastic.
00:46Fix them up and sell them for a tidy profit.
00:49I love it.
00:50Welcome to Shed and Buried.
00:56We're off to see Andrew in Kenilworth in Warwickshire.
01:00One of Fuzz's old stomping grounds.
01:03Has Andrew got any cars?
01:05Yes, he has cars.
01:07He has motorcycles.
01:08Oh, right.
01:09And I think...
01:10Some mobilia?
01:11One or two, yeah, yeah.
01:13Really?
01:13A bit of mobilia, yeah.
01:14Right.
01:15You're going to be having a great time because Andrew has been busy collecting for years.
01:20Yeah.
01:20Lots of the sort of stuff that you'd like to get your hands on.
01:24Yeah, exactly.
01:25I'm looking forward to it.
01:26If we've still got a bit of time afterwards, I can show you around.
01:31Well, let's hope he's got about 413 sheds then, shall we?
01:38Whether we return with a car, a bike or a petition for divorce, who knows?
01:43But Kenilworth, here we come.
01:45Now, look, come on, Andrew, tell us.
01:50In these sheds, what are we going to find, potentially?
01:55You're going to find some really nice original bikes that haven't been restored.
02:00Fantastic.
02:00That are still ready and still got some life in them.
02:03Yeah.
02:03Just a bit of a mixed bag.
02:05Okay.
02:05There's a bit of everything in there for you.
02:07But is everything for sale?
02:10I would say a large majority of the stuff in there is for sale.
02:14Oh, right.
02:15Okay.
02:15And at very reasonable prices.
02:17Oh, there we go.
02:18There's always a deal in Warwickshire.
02:20That's right.
02:20And I've got to say, because it's my favourite saying, historic Warwick.
02:24Yes.
02:24To deal or not to deal.
02:26Yeah, great.
02:27That is the question.
02:27Oh, that's the question.
02:28Yeah.
02:29You'll fit right in, historic Warwick.
02:31I can feel it.
02:32Shaking by the hand.
02:33Hey, look, we'll see you in a bit.
02:34Come on, I can't wait.
02:34All right, come this way.
02:40Look.
02:41Wow.
02:43Blimey.
02:45If this is a taste of what's to come, bring it on.
02:50Early rally choppers.
02:53That's a magnificent pair of choppers up there.
02:56A selection of triumphs.
02:59And what looks like an imported Honda.
03:02Now, that's very interesting, that Honda.
03:06Yeah, so what is that?
03:07That kind of looks like, well, it's got a high-rise pipe on it, hasn't it?
03:10I reckon it's American.
03:12Yeah.
03:12And I reckon it's sort of a 175 Honda, something like that.
03:16Yeah.
03:16But that is rather nice.
03:23The Honda CL175 was a lightweight budget bike from the late 60s.
03:28Available in both on- and off-road versions.
03:32These small-capacity Japanese motorcycles, predominantly for the American market, are really sought after these days.
03:39Yeah.
03:40And I can see why.
03:41I think they're absolutely lovely.
03:42Andrew's second shed is even more ram-packed.
03:54Oh, look at this.
03:56Now there are lots of goodies in this room.
03:58More number plates than the DVLA.
04:02A Triumph Royal Enfield Hybrid.
04:05Royal Enfield Frame.
04:07A Triumph engine, obviously.
04:08A Triumph engine, yeah, yes.
04:09And a Triumph 350T from the late 30s.
04:13Look, the tank.
04:15I like it, yeah.
04:16I wouldn't be surprised if that has never been painted.
04:19No.
04:23You've been hiding it all along.
04:25Look at that sign.
04:27Castrol pump.
04:27Oh, look at that, yeah.
04:29That is beautiful.
04:30Fill your sump from the castrol pump.
04:33That's great.
04:34Shall we go to the other garage as well?
04:35Come on, then.
04:35Let's go and see what else there is.
04:36Oh, God, I saw a little trip there.
04:46Hang on, no, no, you need to get that down.
04:48What's going on?
04:49There's a police car.
04:53Oh, my God.
04:54OK, so look.
04:56We got ourselves a Rover.
05:01The Rover P6 was a 1960s family saloon
05:05who was a big hit with the police
05:07and especially the traffic cops.
05:09There's something odd about this one, though.
05:11Maybe it's not quite what it seems.
05:15I'm not sure that the police
05:17had the registration number etched in the glass
05:22because I think, you know...
05:24Stop thief.
05:25I thought that was their job.
05:26Yes, exactly.
05:29So that's a slight giveaway.
05:31But it does have all the funny bits in there.
05:34That is really funny.
05:36Hold on.
05:36What?
05:37There's a knob here.
05:38What?
05:39What knob?
05:39Shall I pull it?
05:40Yeah, all right.
05:43This is what I love about our job, right?
05:45I come up these steps
05:46because I honestly think I would see,
05:48what, a 70s police Rover?
05:51Oh, I could see myself in this.
05:53I bet you could, yeah.
05:54I could.
05:54Probably in the back in handcuffs.
05:56Anyway, let's have a look at Porsche 924s.
05:59Back in handcuffs?
06:00About 1979, 1980 on a V...
06:08Oh, look at that.
06:10It matches your trousers.
06:12Not the current ones.
06:13The ones that you wear when you're not on TV.
06:15I've got to tell you, right,
06:17I'm not a mad follower of Porsche 924s.
06:20No.
06:21But at the same time,
06:22I actually do love the interior.
06:24Yeah.
06:25That is so late 70s, man.
06:34Oh, look at that.
06:35Wow.
06:37Oh, look.
06:37Hold on.
06:38Oh, look.
06:39Blimey O'Reilly.
06:41Now, that's pretty special, isn't it?
06:43Jaguar X K120s.
06:45Early post-war sports cars.
06:47This is post-war British optimism at its zenith.
06:55Jaguar's X K120 was released in 1947.
06:59The 120 referred to its top speed,
07:01which allowed it to outpace all its rivals.
07:05Andrew?
07:07Oh, right, yeah.
07:08Come in the middle there.
07:09I've done a restoration on it.
07:11I haven't gone over the top.
07:12We haven't taken the body off,
07:13but it was in real state.
07:15It was just in bare metal when I got it.
07:18In its day,
07:18this was the fastest production car in the world.
07:21Yeah, it's a lovely thing.
07:23So are you still restoring it?
07:24It's got no seats in it.
07:25Just waiting for the seats to come back from the upholsterers.
07:27I've actually been out driving it like it is.
07:30Yeah, have you?
07:30And given it a road test.
07:32And since the seats are in,
07:33it'll be back on the road taking some shows, hopefully.
07:37Oh, yeah, look.
07:38Well, hold on.
07:38What are you leaning on there?
07:40Hey, look.
07:41Oh, that's nice.
07:41That's a Montessa Cotta.
07:43Yeah.
07:43Isn't it?
07:43Great bike in the day.
07:45They gave the Japanese a bit of competition.
07:48I've got it running.
07:49All right.
07:49Bought it from the family.
07:50They'd had it since the 70s.
07:53Really?
07:53So, yeah, that's ready to be brought back.
07:56And I've actually ridden it.
07:58Everything works on it.
07:59Unbelievable.
08:00Alphabet.
08:01Yeah.
08:02Yeah.
08:02R, S, T.
08:05Yeah.
08:05Oh, yes, please.
08:06No sugar, mate.
08:07It'd be great.
08:08I suppose you want biscuits as well.
08:09Obviously, yeah.
08:11Lovely.
08:11Well done, Andrew.
08:12Great stuff.
08:13Ah.
08:14Okay, so look, right.
08:16If that's got a buff logbook and it says it runs, it might be a nice deal on that.
08:19Okay.
08:20Okay, so look, what have we got?
08:21I genuinely think that Honda's a result.
08:24Yeah, that is great.
08:26Police car?
08:27We could have some fun with that, couldn't we?
08:28We could have some fun with it.
08:29We could scare some elderly gentleman like ourselves on a Friday night.
08:35Shall we go and have a look?
08:36Yeah, let's just ask about everything.
08:37Come on.
08:38Come on.
08:38Yeah, come on, mate.
08:39Well done.
08:39Age before beauty.
08:40Yeah.
08:45Can we have a little bit of what I call a sighting lab?
08:48Just so, you know, prices.
08:51Okay, I thought we'd come to this sooner or later.
08:53So, this police car, is it a genuine police car?
08:57I'm afraid it's not.
08:58It's a really good reconstruction, but it's been in lots of TV productions.
09:02Right.
09:02How much is that?
09:04I've got it advertised at the moment for £4,000 for your English pounds, but there is some wiggle room with it.
09:12Let's talk about a smaller budget item, which is the Montessa Cotta in there.
09:16Is that a £2.50?
09:16It's a £1.25, so it's learner legal, and that's got to add some value to it.
09:21How much is that?
09:22Well, I paid £800 for it.
09:24Right.
09:25So, if I got my money back on it, I'd be fine with that.
09:27Okay, great.
09:28Okay.
09:28There was a Castrol sign on the door.
09:30Oh, yeah, that's a beauty.
09:31Yeah?
09:31How much would that be?
09:33You know, I don't know.
09:34I don't really know much about these signs.
09:36I mean, you're the expert, really.
09:38Where would you pitch?
09:39£200.
09:41I'd let it go for that.
09:42And finally, am I right, finally?
09:46Possibly finally, yeah, the Honda, yeah.
09:48The Honda CL, I'd really probably want £1,800 for that.
09:53So, look, we're doing £1,800 potentially on the Honda.
09:57How much is the Montessa?
09:59I just want the money back on that, and that cost me £800.
10:02And the sign is £200.
10:04Yeah, I'd let it go.
10:06So, if you put the three together, you're looking at a total of £2,800.
10:12Yes.
10:12What about £2,600, all of it?
10:28We're in Warwickshire with Andrew and his eclectic collection.
10:32He wants £2,800 for a Honda import, a gorgeous sign, and a Montessa off-road bike.
10:40But will he come down?
10:41What about sort of edging towards there, £2,650, just so that we're there?
10:47Well, if we come halfway, I've got a lovely oil can, a nice vintage oil can with a paper label on it,
10:53and it's still got some oil in it, and I'll throw that in.
10:57What, for £2,700?
10:59Is that what you say?
10:59Yes.
11:01Come on, Andrew.
11:01Pleasure doing business with you.
11:03It's gone very, very well.
11:04Well done, Fuzzer.
11:05That was just beautiful.
11:09Next day, back at the ranch.
11:11Our resident cowboys are chomping at the bit.
11:16This is fantastic.
11:18Well, that's the star of the show, I think.
11:20Yeah, because it's from America, there's no rust on it at all.
11:23It's only showing 6,000 miles, which probably is original.
11:26I think it is.
11:27It's a gorgeous little bike.
11:28I love these things.
11:29Bottom line is, we'll get that going, hopefully.
11:32Now, the Montessa, I bought that for two reasons.
11:35One, because I think there's a tickle in it, and two, because, Al, you can throw yourself against the countryside again.
11:41If it's got a spark, it'll go and move it.
11:42Yeah.
11:43Can I draw your attention, finally, to this lovely thing?
11:47So, I picked it up for 200.
11:49I reckon 450.
11:51I love it.
11:52It's going to be very, very difficult to sell that.
11:55So, look, marvellous.
11:55The sun is shining on the righteous.
11:57Let's get a Honda going.
11:58Our first task, remove the seat to swap the battery.
12:09These seats are very special.
12:11Yeah, why?
12:13Because they're springs, not foam.
12:15Oh, OK.
12:16Yeah, lovely.
12:16How cool is that?
12:17Very cool, isn't it?
12:19We can't find a fully charged battery, so, for the moment, Alan and Fuzz attach a power pack.
12:27So, we've got a back brake, right?
12:28Yep.
12:29Oh, right, wow.
12:30We've got a horn.
12:31Indicators flash.
12:32So, we're going to give it a quick scrub at the easy start.
12:33Just see if it fires before we worry about ignition systems and condensers and things.
12:41All right, ignition's on.
12:53They must be petrol in the carbs, because that's running a bit longer than it goes on the easy start.
12:56Yeah, definitely so.
12:57This is utterly amazing.
12:59We should drain this tank, though, because we've smelt the fuel in it and it's rancid.
13:03Oh, is it?
13:03You've got to fear of proper batteries, or else you can't ride it with this battery, obviously.
13:05Yeah, yeah, no, I get the same.
13:06I should go pillier now with that on my lap.
13:08You could, or Henry could run along behind.
13:09Yeah.
13:10Yeah.
13:10Yeah.
13:10Petrol has a shelf life of about six months, diesel a little longer.
13:17After that, it starts to break down and gum up the engine.
13:21But that's not the only problem.
13:23Turns out the fuel tap's blocked, so I'm going to remove it, clean it out on the bench and
13:29then put it back, and then when the tap's off, I can drain it properly.
13:32Well, Alan and Fuzz check the carbs, skid empties the tank, and I...
13:39Can I help in any way?
13:43No.
13:44No.
13:44Find out where I'm not wanted.
13:50All I'm going to do is flush all these tubes out on the fuel tap with some brake cleaner,
13:57because I can see a bit of sort of like a lump in that one.
14:00Get rid of that and put it back on the bike.
14:04Fifteen minutes later, the tank's back on.
14:07The fuel's been refreshed.
14:09Alan's fiddled with the carbs, and we're ready to go again.
14:14Oh, yeah!
14:24It's not ideal, but it's much better than it was.
14:26It's great, yeah, yeah.
14:27As we put the air filter on, it might make a difference.
14:28Yeah, and also, you know, give it a run.
14:32Which finally gives me something to do.
14:36It'll go first time, you watch.
14:39See you later!
14:40Bye!
14:41Bye!
14:43And away I go.
14:47Oh, it's all right.
14:48I think it's OK, man.
14:51Goes through the gears, all right.
14:54And I'll tell you what, for a little 175, it's pretty nippy.
15:00The CL175, to give it its full name, had a maximum speed of 100, and retailed at a mere $645 when first released.
15:12Today, it should be worth a lot more.
15:14There it is.
15:18Oh, yeah.
15:20What do you think?
15:20That's great.
15:22That's really nice.
15:23That sounds sweet from the back.
15:24It does.
15:25It handles, it muffles along, and it was excellent.
15:29Yeah.
15:29That's great.
15:30Really nice.
15:31I'll tell you what, for a 175, I think that's quite frisky.
15:33The following morning, we move on to our other bike, the Montessa.
15:41The good news is that, as Andrew promised, it's in decent running order.
15:48Alan and Fuzz fit a couple of new tank bolts, and then we decamped to my paddock to test if it's as rugged as it looks.
15:56OK, so this is the plan, right?
15:58Mill Ward is going to get on the Montessa.
16:02Yep.
16:02And he is going to ride round, and someone is going to lie underneath this, like they did in the old days with the stumps.
16:13Right, Alan takes a leap of faith.
16:15Yes.
16:16Right, over a human obstacle.
16:19OK.
16:19All we've got to ascertain now is who that human obstacle might be.
16:24OK, so what do you have to do?
16:26You have to lie underneath it.
16:27Yeah.
16:28Right, and then you just hold the board like that, and then Alan comes.
16:31And unbeknown to you.
16:34What?
16:34We had a straw poll earlier.
16:36Happy days.
16:39Also, we think we need a good angle, and that will help.
16:45So forget a Zen pick.
16:47If you're in the stunt business, you've got to have guts, in every sense of the word.
16:53Oh, my God!
16:59Why did I come up with this idea?
17:01I think it might be about to happen.
17:12Oh, my God!
17:13He's coming!
17:14He's coming!
17:15Now!
17:16Now!
17:17Yes!
17:18Oh, my God!
17:18Oh, my God!
17:19Yes!
17:22Do you want another one?
17:23No, I don't!
17:23Come on, you'll be all right.
17:24Yeah.
17:25How was that?
17:27As you were coming towards me, I thought, good night.
17:31I thought my nose was just going to get flattened.
17:34My whole face, my false teeth are going to go ping everywhere.
17:38You did fly well.
17:39Oh, you didn't fall off?
17:40No.
17:41Oh, great.
17:42So a major success all round.
17:43Hold on, while you're there, can I have a go?
17:45What?
17:46Are you out of your head?
17:47Okay.
17:48Come on then, mate.
17:49You're all right.
17:50What you could do though, why don't we put some bricks under there and we'll all have
17:53a little jump.
17:54Let's have a go.
17:55Great.
17:56I'm happy to do that.
17:57Well done.
17:58That was very brave of you.
17:59Well done, Al, as well.
18:01The Montessa Cotta was a very successful competition bike in the 60s, known for its toughness and
18:08handling.
18:09It's easy to manoeuvre and perfect for jumping.
18:13Yes.
18:14Yes.
18:15That looked pretty good.
18:16Yes.
18:17How was it?
18:19I was slightly trepidatious about accelerating up the ramp.
18:23But once I did it, that was great.
18:25Great.
18:26Great.
18:27All right.
18:28Skidder.
18:29Ready?
18:30Yeah.
18:31Go on, son.
18:32Skid and Fuzz are not going to threaten Evel Knievel's crown.
18:38But our Montessa is a hell of a lot of fun.
18:39That's fantastic.
18:40Oh, that's brilliant.
18:41That's copper air.
18:42Yeah, man.
18:43Mate, that was unbelievable, wasn't it?
18:44Yeah, that was fantastic.
18:45I was a little bit out of line.
18:46I was worried at one point.
18:47I nearly aborted.
18:48And you flew perfectly straight and level as well.
18:49Both wheels parallel to the ground.
18:50Oh, great.
18:51Top, top.
18:52Fantastic, boys.
18:53Now what we've got to do.
18:54Well done.
18:55Well done, everyone.
18:56Okay, so you two have done a jump.
18:57Take hands out.
18:58Al's run me over.
18:59I think, basically, before we go any further, we need to flog this.
19:02Yeah, I think we should put it away while it's in one piece and working beautifully.
19:04Definitely.
19:05Because this will only end in tears if we carry on.
19:06I've got to tell you, I'll properly impress with you two.
19:07And I have to say that those shock absorbers are great.
19:08Wow.
19:09Mmm.
19:10Two days later, Paul pops round for a gander.
19:13And he's got a big shot.
19:14Well done, everyone.
19:15Okay, so you two have done a jump.
19:17Take hands out.
19:18Al's run me over.
19:19I think, basically, before we go any further, we need to flog this.
19:21Yeah, I think we should put it away while it's in one piece and working beautifully.
19:23Definitely.
19:24Because this will only end in tears if we carry on.
19:25I've got to tell you, I'll properly impress with you two.
19:28And I have to say that those shock absorbers are great.
19:31Mmm.
19:32Two days later, Paul pops round for a gander.
19:39Now, look, Paul, I know you're after a 21st birthday present for Jamie, your son.
19:47I am.
19:48I thought that might be quite nice.
19:49It runs really nice, mate, honestly.
19:51It's nearly as you described it.
19:53Well, what do you mean by that?
19:54There's a few little broken bits and, you know.
19:58No, no.
19:59Well, yeah, but that's just patina, mate.
20:00Pre-loved.
20:01Right.
20:02Yeah.
20:03Obviously, that will be reflected in the price.
20:051,200 quid.
20:06Well, how about 999.99?
20:09No, no, no.
20:11It's not a special offer at Woolies.
20:13Cool.
20:14Why don't we go 1,099 pounds and 99p just to make you feel better?
20:22Yeah.
20:23I do like the ability to say to my wife that it was under 1,100 pounds.
20:28Come on.
20:29Honestly, mate.
20:30Yeah, good luck.
20:31Honestly.
20:32I'll tell you what, we'll even let you off the 99p.
20:34Oh, thank you very much.
20:35Exactly.
20:36We'll have it delivered as always.
20:37Jamie will love it.
20:38Yeah.
20:39And Guy will drop it round.
20:40Brilliant.
20:41Cheers, mate.
20:42Cheers, Paul.
20:43That's all right.
20:44Hey, look.
20:45We don't make massive money off Paul.
20:46No.
20:47But he's just a reliable punter.
20:48Do you know what I mean?
20:49Well, that's good.
20:50So, the whole thing was 2,700 when you bought everything together.
20:55Okay.
20:56So, that is 1,100.
20:57Yeah.
20:58So, you've still got 1,600 to clear.
20:59Oh, mate.
21:00Look, you'd definitely get two grand for that motorbike, that Honda.
21:01Okay, there we are.
21:02Right.
21:03And then there's the sign as well.
21:04The sign's 300.
21:05Really good.
21:06How much is that?
21:07700 quid.
21:08Is it?
21:09Yeah.
21:10So, hang on.
21:11That means we potentially...
21:12It makes 700 quid.
21:13Yeah.
21:14I say potentially.
21:15Yeah.
21:16But I think that's a definite.
21:17That's a good couple of days work, isn't it?
21:18Yeah, great.
21:19Well, we just get Guy to deliver it.
21:20Yeah.
21:21He loves to ride a hat in the van.
21:22Yeah.
21:23Cross country.
21:24Cross country.
21:25He could go off-roading now.
21:27Yeah.
21:28Yeah.
21:29Yeah.
21:30Yeah.
21:31Yeah.
21:32He could go off-roading now he's got air.
