00:30Jess and I are here from the ESO Community Team to help guide you through some big changes coming to ESO, and we are looking forward to sharing those plans with you right now.
00:41We mentioned this last year, but we are officially shifting away from chapters and DLCs to make content a lot more accessible through seasons.
00:50As part of this, we're going to talk through the vision of what seasons are, how it delivers varied and sometimes experimental content, and how we plan to co-create this new era of ESO with all of you.
01:01During the stream, we'll show you a roadmap of 2026 and give a glimpse of other long-term initiatives that we're working on.
01:08And we'll also share details about Season Zero and reveal two brand new in-game features that are going to allow you to earn all sorts of in-game rewards.
01:18Today, you're also going to hear about how we've refocused our internal teams here at Sauce to deliver changes for all of you for identifying pain points, prioritizing most requested features, and even auditing combat, just to name a few things.
01:34So, TLDR, we are going to be communicating a lot today, but have no fear.
02:02We will have plenty of deep dives and blogs and additional live streams to talk through everything in a lot more detail over the next few months.
02:09Also, a lot of what we are talking about today will be available on our test server next week.
02:15So, we recommend everyone get comfy.
02:18We have a lot to cover today, and we're going to get things kicked off by introducing our special guests from the dev team.
02:25We have Nick Giacomini, Game Director for ESO, and Susan Kath, Executive Producer for ESO.
02:30We formally introduced both in their current roles last year, and you might have seen them around in live streams, videos, and interviews since then.
02:38Both are longtime ESO fans and seasoned game devs.
02:42So, welcome both.
02:44Thank you. Very excited to be here.
02:46Yes, agreed. Very excited to be here.
02:48And I want to bring up one last thing before we get started, which is that, as Jess said, we have a lot to get through today.
02:56And one of the things that we're going to be talking about is transparency in our feedback loop and telling you guys things that we maybe haven't historically always told you.
03:04And one of those things that I'm going to talk to you about is the fact that we currently have about 47,000 cameras on us to do all of this.
03:14And Jess and Gina have a big old stack of notes.
03:16We have about 5,000 pages of notes here.
03:19Because we have so much to tell you about today.
03:21And Nick and I have monitors in front of us to remind us of all of the things that we need to tell you today.
03:26So, all of that is to say that if it sometimes looks like we are reading things, that's because we have so much stuff we have to remember that we probably are.
03:35And we want to get it right.
03:36Transparency, yes.
03:37And we want to get it all right.
03:39So, thanks for having us.
03:41We want to make sure we don't forget anything, especially the really exciting stuff, right?
03:45All right.
03:45So, before we reveal what is to come, we feel like it's important to just briefly talk about how the past has informed the future.
03:53So, Nick, we'll start things off with you.
03:55Let's talk a little bit about ESO up until this point.
03:58What have we learned over the years with subscriptions and chapters and what have you?
04:03And how are we looking to evolve?
04:04Yeah, absolutely.
04:07You know, ESO, we're coming up on 12 years in just a few months, which is pretty crazy.
04:12It's pretty wild.
04:14And when I look back at ESO's history, it's full of a lot of resilience and transformation.
04:20And, you know, over those 12 years, we made a lot of innovative decisions when we needed to.
04:26You know, at One Tamriel, Homestead, introduction of chapters, and so on, right?
04:31They were the right decisions at the time for building the Games Foundation.
04:34And they show that we're capable of making big, fundamental changes when we need to.
04:40And this is another one of those moments.
04:44The game, we've heard from you, our players, that the game has become more predictable than we'd like and too formulaic.
04:53And frankly, we think that we can make the game more rewarding and exciting.
04:57And change things up.
04:58Right. Yes, exactly.
05:00And part of that is because the chapter model was limiting.
05:05You know, it took 18 months, longer than that, in order to do.
05:08It was all hands on deck to support.
05:11And that intensity and lead time just didn't really leave that much room to react to player feedback, address longstanding issues.
05:17So, you know, we saw this past year as a transition year.
05:22And while we learned a lot, we knew that we needed greater change.
05:26So, we're going to be doing more this year.
05:29Like you said, we want to create ESO with the community.
05:32It's something that players have been asking us to do for a really long time, right?
05:36To pause and work on addressing pain points and building the future of ESO together.
05:42This is the beginning of a major shift, just like One Tamriel was a decade ago,
05:46where we're going to be making major changes just in a completely different way.
05:51Yeah.
05:51And, you know, when we were talking internally about the future of ESO,
05:56one of the founding pillars of conversations was that of player trust and something internally we were calling the dev community feedback loop.
06:03So, we know that we've always incorporated player feedback in the dev process.
06:08But we know that we could have greater transparency and just be better about following up with the community.
06:13Like Nick was saying, the chapter model that we had been following for the past few years,
06:19the whole timeline was like this speeding train that we couldn't really stop.
06:23And it really did restrict our ability to just be more flexible.
06:27But I think with Seasons, that's really going to introduce an opportunity to allow us to listen
06:32and react a lot more to community feedback in a much better way.
06:35Right. So, what does this look like for all of you?
06:38It means earlier visibility into the things that we're working on.
06:41It means engaging with you earlier in the process and sharing the results of your input on dev efforts,
06:48all of which we know that you've been asking for for a really long time.
06:51Exactly. So, with Seasons, every team at ZOS, including leadership like Susan and Nick,
06:58consider player engagement and trust to be the foundation upon which ESO's future is built.
07:03You'll see this in different forms as we evolve our approach and explore what works best for us and for you.
07:10It may take shape in the way of earlier and more frequent first look and community Q&A live streams,
07:16articles and video content, or early polls, Reddit AMAs, or feedback and preference surveys.
07:24We recognize that actions do speak louder than words, though,
07:27and we've already begun laying the groundwork for some of the dev community feedback loop efforts
07:32with things like the Guild Summit we held early last year,
07:35which informed some of the efforts you're going to hear about today.
07:39Yep.
07:39And the long-term class identity, vision, goals, and roadmap we shared last December.
07:46We'll continue to expand and evolve based on your feedback.
07:49So, later in the show, you'll also hear more about our community collaboration
07:53and next steps as we develop ESO together.
07:57All of this resulted in the big changes we're going to be talking about and sharing with all of you today.
08:03So, Nick and Susan, let's hop right into what's coming to ESO.
08:07Absolutely.
08:07Well, we're happy to welcome you to our new content model, Seasons.
08:12With Seasons, updates and content will still arrive quarterly,
08:17but we're moving away from that predictable, templated release cadence that players are familiar with,
08:22that featured zone, dungeons, and so on.
08:25We're still going to be telling incredible stories and exploring new areas of Tamriel and beyond.
08:31But the delivery will be different.
08:33Each season may look completely different.
08:37This will give us the flexibility to make our game more exciting and invest in addressing long-standing pain points, right?
08:43Add features and improvements players have been asking for, and update and iterate on the core game,
08:48rather than always just tasting something brand new.
08:51Key difference is variety and choice.
08:54We want to be building what's important to you, the players,
08:57and we believe that this new model is the best way to do so.
09:01So, speaking of big changes, now is a good point for us to talk about one of the first big changes that we're going to be introducing.
09:09We've always charged for most of the new content and features,
09:14because they were part of the whole chapter model, you've got the chapter every year.
09:18We felt like, ultimately, that this created barriers to play,
09:21where, depending on whether you owned a chapter or not,
09:24depending on whether you could play with your friends or not,
09:25and with so many versions and DLCs on sale at any given time,
09:29it could actually get pretty confusing to try and sort out what you needed to buy to play with your friends.
09:33Yep, one of the biggest questions we always got.
09:35Absolutely.
09:36So, we're going to change that.
09:37Starting with Season Zero, all new content and features are all going to be available for free
09:43for anyone who owns ESO or who plays via Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus.
09:49Yeah, this is a really exciting change, so it's going to include if we do any new zones
09:53or any new stories or new systems that we release.
09:57Exactly.
09:58To be specific, there will still be some paid content,
10:02and we're going to talk a little bit about that later,
10:03but in general, the things that were rolled out as part of Chapters,
10:08those will just be game updates from now on.
10:11And speaking of game updates,
10:14this is also probably a good time to point out that as part of all of this,
10:18with Update 49 in March,
10:20we are going to go ahead and roll the Thieves Guild,
10:22the Dark Brotherhood, and Arsenium into that main game as well.
10:25Awesome.
10:26Yeah, this is a huge change for ESO,
10:29and I really love that we're not just making all the new content available to everybody,
10:33but to your point, it's just going to be so much simpler
10:35for players to understand what to buy to.
10:38All right, now let's talk a little bit about the team's vision
10:40for how seasons are going to work in ESO.
10:43Susan, what would you say makes up a typical season?
10:46Well, for starters, I kind of hope we don't actually have typical seasons.
10:50That's kind of the point of all of this.
10:52Touche.
10:52So the seasons themselves can actually be anything we want them to be in terms of content.
10:59But experimentation, variety, you're going to hear those words a lot today.
11:04Trying new things.
11:05These are the touchstones that we are building seasons on.
11:08We're still going to be the Elder Scrolls Online.
11:11We'll mix in new systems, features, stories, zones,
11:14all of those things that everyone knows and loves about ESO.
11:18But we want to look at them through a new lens
11:20and ask ourselves about everything.
11:23Okay, but it's like, what if?
11:25Right?
11:26So stuff like, what if there were dragons here?
11:30Or what if you could do this content solo instead of with a group?
11:35Or what if you did this content with a group?
11:37What's up in Winterhold?
11:38So all of that said, seasons are going to happen four times a year.
11:43They will be three months long.
11:45And each one is going to contain a Tamriel tome and access to the Gold Coast Bazaar.
11:50And one last big change as part of this.
11:54And absolutely one of those things that we said, okay, but what if?
11:58About when we launch Update 49 in March,
12:01we are going to move to a simultaneous release schedule
12:04with PC and consoles now releasing on the same day.
12:07Their patches, their updates, all of that going forward.
12:10That's really cool.
12:11And I think that really kind of mirrors
12:14what exactly we're trying to do here this year
12:16with, you know, taking a look at things that we've always done
12:19just because we've always done it that way
12:21and identifying areas where we can change things up
12:24and make things better for the community.
12:26Yeah, actually, based on player requests.
12:28Yes.
12:28That okay, but what if?
12:29That is actually exactly how we came around
12:31to doing the simultaneous releases.
12:34We had a few people on the team go,
12:36okay, well, actually, can we?
12:37What if we did?
12:38Can we just do this?
12:39Let's do it.
12:40Love it.
12:41So, all of that said,
12:45Nick, you want to talk about the roadmap?
12:47I do, yes.
12:49Very exciting.
12:50I've been waiting.
12:52I've been waiting.
12:53And yeah, exactly.
12:54We want to, I think what if is a good way to,
12:57is a really good way to put it.
12:59We want to walk away from too predictable
13:02and instead be exciting, different.
13:05Something that players also have been asking us a lot for
13:08is more transparency,
13:09and more visibility into what's coming.
13:12In the past, we've held a lot back,
13:15like to the last, until the last minute.
13:17But we're trying to be more transparent
13:19and we'll try to provide players with an idea
13:22of what to expect, what we're thinking.
13:25Just know that this is,
13:26it's a living plan, right?
13:28And things may change.
13:30And we want that.
13:31That's part of this.
13:32We don't want to be beholden to an 18-month roadmap
13:35that we can't adjust.
13:37We want to be able to change based on feedback
13:39and what we've learned.
13:40So let's talk a little bit about,
13:42a bit about what's coming to Tamriel in 2026.
13:45There's a lot on this roadmap
13:46and I'm going to list these off quickly,
13:48but we're going to go into more of these later,
13:51either in the stream or in upcoming announcements.
13:53So in Season Zero,
13:56players can experience the first ever event zone,
13:59the Night Market.
14:00And that's going to be,
14:02well, it's going to be a lot more challenging
14:04than our usual content.
14:06We're also going to be launching a whole suite of changes
14:08to improve visuals for class and weapon abilities
14:11and start to provide better class identity
14:13and make more builds viable.
14:16We'll have brand new Thieves Guild content
14:17coming later this year.
14:19So, you know, the next Thieves Guild story in the game.
14:22There will be new stories,
14:24some new systems to experience the content with,
14:26like the Vault, Rumors, Favors, and Dynamic Events.
14:30Shia Gorath is returning to Tamriel.
14:33I'm personally, yep,
14:34I'm personally very excited for players
14:36to experience this story.
14:38Let's see, there will be a new trial
14:39for our in-game community
14:41and for players who prefer to take the game on solo.
14:45We have a few things coming.
14:46First, we're planning to launch an early version
14:50of Overland Difficulty.
14:52There's a lot that we want to do here.
14:55So this is just, it's just a first step
14:57for this highly requested feature.
14:58But again, just like we were talking about earlier,
15:00this is something we want to get to players soon
15:03and adjust based on feedback
15:05and do more with it in the future.
15:08So, and we're also introducing solo dungeons
15:10later in the year,
15:11where players will get to take on
15:14some of our existing dungeons and new solo modes
15:16with dedicated rewards.
15:19Like Overland Difficulty,
15:20we're planning to start small here,
15:22so maybe two or three dungeons to begin with.
15:25And we want to see what players think
15:27and if they want more.
15:28That's awesome.
15:29It seems like a really good way to learn dungeons.
15:31Yes, yes, yes, exactly.
15:33Like, in fact, we're planning to have,
15:36I mean, things are currently in development,
15:38so it may change,
15:39but we're planning to have multiple modes,
15:40including a story mode.
15:42Oh, cool.
15:42So that's something that, you know,
15:43I personally experience.
15:44I know that our players have experienced
15:45where they just want to,
15:46they want to do the quest,
15:47but groups will just run ahead.
15:49And enjoy the story.
15:50Right, right, exactly.
15:51And also other modes for, you know,
15:53more of players who want more of a challenge,
15:55so we want to have, like,
15:55different levels of difficulty for a solo.
15:58That's exciting.
15:59I'm super excited about this,
16:00because I'm a solo player.
16:02I love playing MMOs.
16:04I like a lot of other people being around me playing,
16:06but I like to play by myself.
16:07Yep.
16:07And so I'm really excited
16:09for all of those changes.
16:12Yes, very excited, too.
16:13So, yeah, that's going to be coming in 2026,
16:17and if players like it,
16:18then, you know, more to come.
16:19So, let's see, what else?
16:22We're doing some experimental content.
16:24So, like, there's some that's,
16:26well, it's involving seas and ships
16:28and naval battles.
16:29All right, yep.
16:30We're trying things out
16:31and still figuring it out,
16:33but, you know, the team has the space
16:34to run with their best ideas here,
16:36and that's something that we want.
16:38Let's see, we're investing
16:39pretty heavily in PvP this year,
16:41and we're providing
16:42many player experience improvements
16:45and addressing a lot of pain points
16:47that players have expressed.
16:48both of these,
16:49what we're going to do here
16:50for PvP and for addressing these,
16:52we're going to talk more in a bit.
16:55So, yeah, as mentioned earlier,
16:57like, this new approach
16:58is going to hopefully allow us
17:00to work hand-in-hand
17:01with our desire
17:02to craft ESO's future
17:04with and for the community.
17:07We want to hear your thoughts
17:08and feedback early
17:10and often to help us build
17:12the Tamriel that you want to experience.
17:14What's also really cool
17:16about this new way
17:18of allowing the dev team
17:19to kind of experiment
17:20a little bit more
17:21is they'll participate in game jams,
17:24you know, maybe once a year or so,
17:25and I think having them
17:28have the opportunity
17:29to potentially put some of these
17:31really kind of creative
17:33and unique ideas into the game
17:35is going to be really exciting for players.
17:36Yes, and actually that's happening.
17:38One of the,
17:40well, I'm not ready to talk about it.
17:41Oh, come on, Nick.
17:43Just between us.
17:45But that's happening.
17:46Even there,
17:47we are actually releasing things
17:48that came out of the game jam
17:50that were purely like passion projects
17:52from the people here at ZOS,
17:55and we're putting them in the game,
17:56and I think there's going to be
17:57a lot more of that.
17:58Oh, that's so exciting.
17:59I've seen some of them,
18:00and now I wonder
18:01which ones they are.
18:02That's exciting.
18:02I have a pretty good idea.
18:06All right.
18:06So as we look to the future,
18:08we want to share
18:09what we're working on with you,
18:10like we have said much earlier
18:12and more often
18:13than we have in the past,
18:14and hopefully everything
18:15we're going through right now
18:16is a testament to that.
18:18And in turn,
18:19we want to get your feedback earlier
18:20and more often as well.
18:21So this means
18:22we may share things with you
18:23that range anywhere
18:24from the early conceptual phase
18:26to actively in development,
18:28things that are not yet set in stone.
18:30This content could be experimental,
18:33like we've mentioned,
18:34or something we're actively developing
18:35and need live feedback on.
18:37So this is a big pivot for us,
18:40and while it won't happen overnight,
18:41you'll see it continue to evolve over time
18:43based on your feedback.
18:45Yep, exactly.
18:46Like we want to be more transparent.
18:48We want to change the way
18:50that we engage with the community
18:51to be more transparent,
18:52more collaborative,
18:53and provide more opportunities
18:55for player input and feedback
18:57so that we can incorporate that
18:58into our plans.
18:59So, you know, recent surveys,
19:01posts asking for feedback
19:02and suggestions,
19:03showing the roadmap
19:04like we are today
19:05with a farther outlook.
19:07Like those are just steps
19:08in that direction.
19:09Right.
19:10So as we head into 2026,
19:12seasons,
19:13and ESO's next era,
19:15all of you will play
19:16a critical role
19:17in the game's future development.
19:18So please do continue
19:20to let us know
19:21what you'd like to see
19:22and hear from us
19:22on our official
19:23social media channels,
19:25forums, Reddit,
19:26Discord servers,
19:27and the feedback surveys
19:29we send out.
19:30Yeah, I think at the end
19:31of the day,
19:31we just want to make the game
19:33that the community
19:34wants to be in
19:35and enjoy.
19:36You know, it is a game.
19:38Should be fun.
19:38Yeah, exactly.
19:40All right.
19:41Now let's take a closer look
19:43at what's in Season Zero
19:44specifically.
19:45We're going to start
19:47things off here
19:47with two things
19:48that Susan actually
19:49touched on earlier,
19:50Tamriel Tomes
19:51and the Gold Coast Bazaar.
19:52These are two
19:53brand new features
19:54launching with Season Zero
19:56that are going to allow you
19:57to earn all sorts
19:58of in-game rewards.
19:59And we will also talk
20:01about how ESO Plus
20:02evolves in this
20:03new seasonal world.
20:04Afterwards,
20:05we're going to get
20:05into the Night Market
20:06and a whole slew
20:08of quality of life
20:09improvements that you
20:10are definitely
20:10going to want to hear.
20:12But first, Susan,
20:13why don't you talk
20:14to us about
20:14Tamriel Tomes?
20:15Sure.
20:16So Tamriel Tomes
20:18is our take
20:19on a battle pass
20:20for ESO.
20:21and each season
20:22is going to have
20:23a unique Tamriel Tome
20:24that is available
20:25for the duration
20:26of the fall season.
20:28Everyone will have access
20:29to the free version
20:30of the season's Tome
20:31and you'll progress
20:32the Tome
20:33by completing weekly
20:34and seasonal challenges
20:35and earning Tome Points.
20:37You earn points,
20:38you unlock pages
20:38in the Tome
20:39and then you can use
20:39those points
20:40to choose your rewards.
20:42When the team set out
20:42to design Tamriel Tomes,
20:44we wanted to make sure
20:45that it met a few
20:46really important goals
20:47for us.
20:48First, we wanted everyone
20:49to be able to participate
20:50in it.
20:50No matter what your
20:51interests are
20:52or how you play ESO,
20:54challenges will cover
20:55everything from quests
20:57to trials
20:58to PvP
20:59and crafting,
21:00dungeons,
21:02and you'll have
21:03the option
21:03to re-roll
21:04the weekly challenges
21:05during the season
21:06if you are interested
21:08in the current options
21:09that you've got
21:10on deck for that week.
21:11Nice.
21:11Yeah, so players
21:13will be able
21:13to re-roll
21:14on their own.
21:14They don't have
21:15to wait for a maintenance
21:16or wait for us
21:16to do it.
21:17They can just say,
21:18I don't like these
21:19weekly challenges
21:19and just push a button.
21:21Yeah, exactly.
21:22Second, it was really
21:23important to us
21:24that this had
21:26compelling rewards.
21:28The team designed
21:28the free Tome
21:29to include exciting
21:31rewards all season long.
21:33So in Season Zero,
21:34for example,
21:35you'll be able
21:36to earn new cosmetics.
21:38There's a brand new armor.
21:40There are 10,
21:41I think, weapon styles.
21:43There's a new skill style
21:44for vigor.
21:46And additionally,
21:47you're going to be able
21:47to earn 8,000 Seals
21:49of Endeavor,
21:50six crates,
21:51furnishings,
21:52trade bars,
21:53which we'll talk about
21:54in a minute,
21:54and even more stuff
21:56over the course
21:56of the season.
21:57And yes,
21:58I did just say
21:58you can earn
21:59Seals of Endeavor
21:59as part of Tamriel Tomes.
22:02And that's part
22:04of the big drive
22:05to cut down
22:06on complexity
22:07and confusion.
22:08We want to move away
22:09from having multiple types
22:11of challenge lists
22:12to complete
22:13every single day.
22:14I don't know about you,
22:15I have enough to-do lists
22:16in my life
22:18on a normal basis.
22:20I need things
22:20a little bit simpler
22:21when I go home
22:22and I want to relax
22:22and play the game.
22:24So we are going to go ahead
22:25and eliminate
22:26the daily login rewards
22:27and the Endeavors
22:28challenge systems,
22:30but we're moving
22:31all of that
22:32into Tamriel Tomes.
22:33So you will earn
22:34Endeavor Seals
22:35as part of the Tomes
22:37system now,
22:37and the things
22:38that you used to encounter
22:39in the daily login rewards,
22:40those would be
22:41the sorts of things
22:41that are available
22:42for you to select
22:43from within the Tomes.
22:45So just streamlined.
22:46Lots of rewards
22:47still streamlined.
22:48Yeah.
22:48And one other thing
22:49just building on that
22:50is that the challenges
22:53are weekly and seasonal
22:54as opposed to Endeavors
22:55which were the dailies
22:57and the weeklies
22:57and it does feel like,
22:59oh no,
22:59I have to do this today,
23:00I have to do this today.
23:01So we're hoping
23:01that the weekly nature
23:03of this is going
23:03to allow more flexibility
23:04for players.
23:05Yeah,
23:05and just kind of release
23:06some of that pressure
23:06of needing to log in
23:08every day.
23:09I was kind of bummed out
23:10if I knew I wasn't
23:11going to complete,
23:12you know,
23:12I would,
23:13I would like your daily login
23:14if you're away
23:15for a few days
23:16or something.
23:16It's like,
23:16oh,
23:17I guess I'm not
23:17going to get this.
23:18Do one of the
23:19Endeavor's challenges
23:19and I'd be like,
23:21oh,
23:21cool,
23:21I did that.
23:22And then I'd look
23:22at the other ones
23:23and I'd be like,
23:23well,
23:23not actually.
23:24If you're a completionist,
23:25that is all of those.
23:26So,
23:26yeah.
23:27So,
23:27anyway,
23:28hopefully,
23:29this is more engaging,
23:31an engaging way
23:31to do all of this.
23:32We're excited about it.
23:34So,
23:34the last thing to note
23:35with the Tamriel Tomes
23:36is that there are
23:37two paid premium
23:38upgrade options
23:39that are going to be
23:39available for Tamriel Tomes.
23:41And depending on
23:41what those upgrades are,
23:43they're going to unlock
23:43additional tier,
23:45additional tiers
23:46of reward choices.
23:48There'll be bonus items,
23:49there'll be
23:50additional cosmetics,
23:51there's a personality,
23:53amount,
23:54outfit styles,
23:55and
23:55and more stuff
23:56that will happen there.
23:57So,
23:58with both of the premium options,
24:00you will also get the ability
24:01to keep unlocking pages
24:02and rewards
24:03in a season's tome
24:05even after the season ends.
24:06So,
24:07you can actually complete it
24:08on your own schedule
24:08in your own timeline.
24:10Also,
24:11one thing
24:11I do want to quickly note
24:12is that we are not
24:13taking away
24:14any rewards
24:15for completing things in game
24:17like the dungeon hard modes
24:18or doing quests
24:19or what have you.
24:20This is just going to be
24:20another way
24:21for everyone
24:22to earn different types
24:23of rewards
24:23by doing various activities.
24:25Alright,
24:26so this seems like
24:27a good time
24:28to talk about
24:28the Gold Coast Bazaar
24:29which was the other thing
24:30that you had mentioned.
24:31This is the new
24:32in-game storefront
24:33that will allow you
24:34to unlock in-game rewards
24:35just by playing
24:36through the game.
24:37And it will also be a way
24:38to acquire older items
24:40which is, again,
24:41something that we've seen
24:42from the community
24:43that they've been wanting
24:44for a pretty long time.
24:45Yep.
24:46I mean, yeah,
24:47so we,
24:48Tamriel Tomes
24:49is going to offer
24:50a lot of unique rewards
24:50like both the free
24:51and the paid tracks
24:53but we didn't want
24:54to stop there.
24:54So, yeah,
24:55we're launching
24:55the Gold Coast Bazaar
24:57alongside our first season
24:59and it's a store
25:00dedicated to earnable
25:02rewards for players.
25:03So, just like you said,
25:04over the years
25:05we've introduced
25:06so many limited time
25:07cosmetics
25:07through Golden Pursuits,
25:10daily login rewards,
25:11Twitch streams,
25:12the anniversary spotlights,
25:13events, and so on.
25:15And if you missed them
25:16it was either impossible
25:18to get them again
25:19or we would reintroduce them
25:20unpredictably
25:22or inconsistently.
25:23The Bazaar provides
25:24a consistent
25:25and reliable place
25:26for players
25:27to finally be able
25:28to claim these rewards.
25:30We'll also have
25:31some utility items
25:32and some new,
25:33brand new items
25:34that have never
25:34been seen before
25:35in the Bazaar
25:36and we're going to continue
25:36to add to the Bazaar
25:37over time.
25:39In fact,
25:39in the future
25:40we're planning to make
25:41some previous crates
25:42and their contents
25:43earnable in the Bazaar.
25:44That's something else
25:45that players have asked for.
25:47That's not going to be present
25:48in Season Zero
25:49but it'll likely be
25:51in the next season
25:53or the season after that.
25:54Let's see,
25:55items are going to rotate
25:57in and out
25:57but we're trying to avoid
25:59frustrating FOMO.
26:00Most items will be up
26:01for long durations
26:02like the entirety
26:02of a season
26:03or longer
26:05and we're hoping
26:05to bring things back quickly.
26:08You may have noticed
26:08that I keep saying earnable.
26:10So,
26:10to redeem items
26:11from the Bazaar
26:12players will need trade bars
26:13and trade bars
26:14are primarily earned
26:16in Tamriel Tomes
26:17and also elsewhere
26:18in the game.
26:19So they're playing the game.
26:20Yes, exactly.
26:22We've tried to balance
26:23this carefully
26:23with the majority
26:24of trade bars
26:25in the free track
26:26of the Tomes.
26:27We're planning to include
26:28a small amount
26:29in the paid version
26:31as a bonus reward
26:32for players
26:33who support the game
26:33with the remaining
26:35earned through
26:36other in-game activities.
26:37Now,
26:38some of the things
26:39we're talking about
26:39are things
26:40that you previously
26:41earned from events.
26:43Well,
26:44we're getting rid
26:44of event tickets
26:45with seasons.
26:47So,
26:47players who have
26:48event tickets
26:49will receive
26:49an appropriate amount
26:50of trade bars
26:51for the number
26:51of event tickets
26:52that they have.
26:53But unlike event tickets,
26:54there's going to be
26:55no cap
26:55for how many trade bars
26:57players can have.
26:58Yep.
26:58And critically,
26:59trade bars cannot
27:00be purchased
27:01for crowds.
27:02They must be earned
27:03by playing the game.
27:04So,
27:05the bazaar,
27:06it's designed
27:07to give players
27:07more options
27:08and choice
27:09over the rewards
27:10that you earn,
27:11right?
27:12There will be
27:13around 100 items
27:14in the Gold Coast Bazaar
27:15in the first season
27:16with more coming
27:17each season.
27:18That's great.
27:18So,
27:18this calls back
27:19to players asking
27:20for more ways
27:21to earn rewards
27:22just by playing the game.
27:23Yes,
27:24exactly.
27:25Nick,
27:25is the change
27:26with event tickets,
27:27is that coming
27:28with Season Zero?
27:29Yes,
27:29that is coming
27:29with Season Zero.
27:30Fantastic.
27:31That's great.
27:31Okay,
27:32so,
27:32we've talked a bit
27:33about Tamriel Tomes
27:34and the Gold Coast Bazaar
27:35at this point.
27:36So,
27:36ESL Plus also
27:37was a part
27:39of the holistic design
27:40when we were
27:40thinking about
27:41how to give players
27:43more choice
27:44in how they earn
27:44rewards in game
27:46and more ways
27:46to earn through
27:47gameplay specifically.
27:49So,
27:49Susan,
27:49can you tell us
27:50a little bit
27:50about how
27:52Tamriel Tomes
27:53and the Gold Coast Bazaar
27:54interfaced with ESL Plus
27:56and what this
27:57means for those players?
27:58Sure.
27:59So,
28:00for starters,
28:01first,
28:01most important,
28:02we aren't changing
28:03the price of ESL Plus
28:04and we're not taking
28:05anything away from it.
28:08ESL Plus members
28:09are going to continue
28:09to have access
28:10to all of the past
28:11chapters and DLCs,
28:13but they're also
28:13going to get new benefits
28:14layered on top
28:15of the membership
28:15that already exists
28:17starting with Season Zero.
28:18So,
28:19first,
28:19Plus subscribers
28:21will get a monthly
28:22grant of Tome Points
28:23to spend on any
28:24of the Tome Rewards
28:25and they're also
28:26actually going to earn
28:27Tome Points
28:27at an accelerated rate.
28:29Nice.
28:30And then,
28:30beginning with this month,
28:32any ESL Plus subscribers
28:34will receive credit
28:35every month
28:36towards a free
28:37Premium Plus
28:38Season upgrade.
28:40Now,
28:40once you've accumulated
28:4112 months
28:42of being subscribed
28:43and that's total months,
28:44you will be awarded
28:46a Premium Plus
28:48Season upgrade
28:48that you can spend
28:49on any season.
28:50Now,
28:51we do have some
28:52new improvements
28:53coming for everyone
28:54and ESL Plus subscribers
28:56will have some
28:57extra benefits
28:58for a few of the things
28:59that Susan will talk
29:00about in just a second.
29:02Let's actually get
29:03into those game improvements
29:04now because there is
29:05a lot of stuff in here
29:06that addresses
29:07some longstanding requests
29:08and pain points
29:09and I'm personally
29:10really excited
29:11about this stuff.
29:12I'm also,
29:13I'm very excited
29:13to share all this stuff.
29:14It's a lot.
29:15Okay,
29:16so,
29:17let's dig into the list.
29:19With Season Zero,
29:20we're going to start
29:20to see updates
29:21from a new team
29:22that has been devoted
29:24to finding and focusing
29:25on the community's
29:26most requested
29:27quality of life features
29:28and other improvements.
29:30So,
29:31they have been gathering
29:32these from
29:33community wish lists,
29:34from surveys,
29:35from summits,
29:36from lurking on forums
29:37and seeing what you all
29:38are talking about.
29:39They are looking
29:41at last year's requests
29:42that we put out,
29:43for example,
29:43for top pain points
29:44and using all of that
29:45to build a backlog of work
29:46that they can devote
29:49their time to.
29:49So,
29:50we're going to keep doing
29:51more of that in the future
29:52as we continue to build out
29:53this group's schedule
29:54of work as well.
29:55So,
29:56update 49
29:57will include
29:58the first wave
29:59of all of these changes,
30:00specifically focused
30:01on reducing friction
30:02and respecting player playtime.
30:05To start with,
30:06we're going to add
30:06the ability
30:07to respec skills
30:08and attributes
30:09directly from the UI
30:10at no cost.
30:12Nice.
30:12We kind of thought
30:14of this as
30:14we talk all about
30:15being experimental.
30:17Hey,
30:18why don't you guys
30:18get experimental as well?
30:19Players do that too.
30:21So,
30:22we're going to go back
30:23to the 30-day listing window
30:24for guild traders.
30:25We didn't really see
30:26a lot of effect
30:27from the change
30:28that we rolled in
30:29previously
30:30and nobody really liked it.
30:33So,
30:33we're going to go ahead
30:33and roll that back out
30:34and take it back to 30 days.
30:36Great.
30:36We are making
30:37outfit slots account-wide.
30:39We're adding
30:40faster rider training.
30:42We're going to allow
30:43for three stat increases
30:44instead of one at a time.
30:47And,
30:47speaking of riding,
30:49we are adding
30:50a brand new mount
30:51available for gold
30:52and we're going to move
30:5316 mounts
30:54out of the crown store
30:55and put those up
30:56for gold purchase
30:58as well.
30:59Okay.
30:59So,
31:00we are also
31:01increasing the furnishing limits
31:03on over half of our houses
31:04as part of a plan
31:06to boost furnishing limits
31:07across all of our houses.
31:09For example,
31:10the cap on large homes
31:12is going to increase
31:13from 328 to 450.
31:15Nice.
31:16Yes.
31:17There's going to be
31:17so much more room
31:18for activities.
31:19Susan,
31:20that's actually
31:21a very frequent question
31:22we get from the community
31:23is increasing furnishing limits
31:25so they can add more
31:26to their house.
31:27And previously,
31:28we had looked at it
31:29and there were
31:30some technical limitations,
31:31but what has changed now
31:32where we were able
31:33to do this?
31:34So,
31:34technical limitations
31:35do still exist
31:36for some of our houses.
31:37One of the things
31:39that we looked at
31:40in that spirit,
31:41going back to,
31:42as I said earlier,
31:42that spirit of,
31:44okay,
31:44but what if?
31:45What we looked at here
31:46was we said,
31:47all right,
31:48well,
31:48let's try and solve
31:48this problem.
31:49We can't solve it
31:50for every single house
31:51across the board
31:51right now.
31:52There are still
31:52technical limitations
31:54related to the largest
31:55of our houses,
31:55but that doesn't mean
31:57we can't update
31:57some of the others
31:59as we go.
32:00So that's kind of
32:01how we're looking at it.
32:02Let's not hold
32:03the whole thing
32:03if we can make
32:05a large chunk of it better
32:06while we continue
32:07to solve the problem
32:08behind the scenes
32:08for the rest.
32:09That's great.
32:10We are also going to go ahead
32:11and add longer antiquities
32:13exploration times
32:14and we're increasing
32:15the duration
32:15across all difficulties
32:17and for those last two
32:19in particular,
32:20ESO plus subscribers
32:21will get an additional boost
32:22above and beyond
32:23what the standard value is.
32:24So, all in all,
32:27we're still a few months
32:28away from the update.
32:30There might be
32:30a few more things.
32:31In fact,
32:32there are probably
32:33some more things
32:33that Nick knows about
32:34that I don't actually
32:35know about yet
32:36that are going to
32:36make it into that.
32:38So we'll talk about those
32:39over the next couple of months
32:40as we lead up to the updates.
32:42And then the last thing is
32:44with this group,
32:45which I'm excited about,
32:46they've got longer term stuff
32:47going on in the background
32:48as well.
32:49So these are things
32:50that won't be
32:51in the next update,
32:52but the team is busy
32:53working on
32:54and some bigger,
32:55longer initiatives
32:56like allowing guilds
32:58to send mail
32:58to their guild members,
33:00cross play,
33:01and guild housing,
33:03and more.
33:04That's exciting.
33:06I love how you just
33:06kind of casually
33:07drop something like guild mail
33:09and then move on from it.
33:10Do you know,
33:10we have so much stuff
33:11to talk about today.
33:12Like if we weren't casual
33:14about some of them,
33:15we'd never stop
33:16talking to each other.
33:17I suspect viewers
33:19wouldn't mind
33:19if this went
33:20for five or six hours
33:21and we just talk
33:22about everything.
33:23All right.
33:24So let's now shift
33:25over to the night market.
33:27Nick,
33:27why don't you first cover
33:28what exactly
33:29an event zone is?
33:30Yeah.
33:31So an event zone
33:32is the first type
33:34of new experimental content
33:37and the night market
33:38is our first one of these.
33:39And the core idea
33:40behind the event zone
33:42is simple.
33:43It's limited time,
33:44highly focused,
33:46and it's designed
33:47for us to try
33:47new concepts,
33:48mechanics,
33:49and importantly,
33:50new difficulty levels.
33:51So it gives the team
33:52the space to be creative
33:53and gather feedback.
33:55The night market,
33:56it's a PVE zone.
33:57It's set in Fargrave
33:59and it's filled
33:59with challenging encounters.
34:02We wanted to experiment
34:03with a zone designed
34:04to be genuinely difficult.
34:06So this zone
34:07is specifically geared
34:08toward experienced players
34:09and groups,
34:10but it's designed
34:11to be accessible
34:12by anyone.
34:13It's a fantastic place
34:15to try group content
34:15for the first time.
34:17You don't need a guild
34:17to have fun here,
34:19but we're hoping
34:19that it's a fun place
34:20for guilds to take on.
34:22And we believe
34:23that the zone's difficulty
34:24will naturally encourage
34:26players to work together.
34:28To be clear,
34:29we talked about
34:31Overland difficulty earlier.
34:32This is not
34:33Overland difficulty.
34:34We are also doing
34:35Overland difficulty
34:36later in 2026,
34:38but this zone
34:39is going to be,
34:40well, more difficult.
34:43The night market
34:44is going to feature
34:44three factions,
34:46and you can choose
34:46one to align with
34:47each time the zone
34:48becomes available,
34:49and there will be
34:50a competition
34:50between the factions
34:52to see who can
34:53make the most progress
34:54in the night market.
34:56Like any zone,
34:57the night market
34:57is going to have
34:58its own unique rewards,
35:00and the most notable
35:01is a brand new house
35:02that players will unlock
35:05and upgrade
35:06by progressing
35:06through the zone.
35:08I think the house
35:08is pretty cool
35:09and unique,
35:10and it's going to be
35:11the first time
35:12there's a bank
35:14that's actually included
35:15inside the house.
35:15So we're planning
35:17to release also
35:19a brand new
35:20functional reward type
35:21with the event zone
35:22that we think
35:23is going to affect
35:23gameplay in an exciting way.
35:26The night market
35:26begins on April 29th
35:28and will run
35:28through mid-June,
35:29but this isn't
35:30a one-and-done event.
35:31We're planning
35:32to bring it back
35:32at least once
35:33in 2026,
35:35and if players enjoy it,
35:36we can bring it back
35:37more often in the future
35:39or potentially
35:39make it permanent.
35:41We're introducing
35:41this content
35:42to gather feedback
35:43and data
35:44on what works,
35:45and we'll take
35:45those learnings
35:46and apply them
35:46potentially to this event zone,
35:48to the next event zone,
35:50or even future seasonal content
35:51to ensure that
35:53we're always improving
35:54the experience.
35:56All right,
35:57so in addition
35:57to the event zone,
35:58we also have
35:59the first wave
36:00of updates
36:00for the class
36:01and combat work
36:02we talked about
36:03in December
36:03going live
36:04with Season Zero.
36:05So, Nick,
36:06would you tell us
36:07a little bit more
36:07about that?
36:08Yes, yes.
36:09Like we've been talking
36:10about throughout this,
36:11the health
36:11of the base game
36:12and reinvesting
36:13in existing parts
36:14of the game
36:14is really important,
36:15right?
36:16The improvements
36:16that Susan just talked
36:17about are one step
36:19in that direction,
36:20and another one
36:21is that we're
36:21planning to invest heavily.
36:23We are investing heavily
36:24in foundational experience
36:26of ESO.
36:28So as part of that,
36:29we're reviewing
36:29and improving
36:30the combat experience.
36:32This is ongoing.
36:33It's going to be released
36:34in parts over the course
36:35of the next few years,
36:36so this isn't just
36:37a single update.
36:37and the responses
36:40from the class survey
36:42we shared last September
36:43and the combat
36:45and vision roadmap
36:46we released in December,
36:47those were crucial
36:48in helping us
36:49to prioritize
36:50and shape the team's
36:51work on this.
36:53What's going to be included
36:54as part of this?
36:55First is a visual refresh
36:56for all of our classes
36:57and combat skill lines
36:59and also mechanical updates
37:01to reduce floatiness
37:03and deliver a more
37:04modern feel.
37:05ESO was made
37:06over 10 years ago,
37:07right, close to 12 years
37:08at this point,
37:09and we've learned
37:09a lot since then
37:10and newer classers
37:12have benefited from that.
37:13We want all classes
37:14to benefit from
37:15what we've learned
37:16while still feeling unique
37:17and staying true
37:18to their core.
37:19Critically,
37:20we remain dedicated
37:21to the play your way
37:23core combat pillar.
37:24However,
37:25we recognize that
37:26with the introduction
37:27of subclassing,
37:28that's created issues
37:30at odds with that goal,
37:31specifically impacting
37:32class identity,
37:33peer classes,
37:34build viability,
37:35and flexibility.
37:37We're working on addressing
37:39these issues
37:39with these efforts.
37:41We want class identity
37:42to be clearer.
37:44We want peer classes
37:45to be competitive,
37:46and we want as many builds
37:47as possible
37:48to be viable
37:49across all content.
37:51So the first major wave
37:52of this work
37:53is arriving in March,
37:55and the March update
37:56will feature
37:56the Dragon Knight class,
37:58and that will include
37:59a visual refresh
38:00for many of its abilities.
38:02It's really cool
38:04to see how these
38:06are shaping up,
38:06and I really can't wait
38:07for players to get
38:08to experience them.
38:11We're also making adjustments
38:13to the skill lines
38:14to make them feel
38:15like a more complete kit,
38:17to make peer classes
38:18more viable.
38:19As a bonus,
38:20you can also earn
38:21a full set of blue
38:22skill styles
38:23for Dragon Knight abilities
38:24in-game
38:25in Season Zero.
38:30We're also,
38:31as part of the March update,
38:32including a visual refresh
38:33for the two-handed
38:34weapon skill line,
38:36and we're going to keep
38:36working on those
38:38weapon skill lines
38:39as a part of this.
38:42We're also going to be
38:43revamping werewolf visuals.
38:45That will likely come in June,
38:47and that'll include
38:48the werewolf model,
38:49and as part of that,
38:50we're actually going to be
38:51including a female werewolf model
38:53that's going to be free,
38:54and that's something
38:55that players have been
38:56requesting for years.
38:57Oh, yes.
38:58And so we're just going
38:59to keep going with this,
39:00you know,
39:01every loss,
39:02multiple times a year,
39:04and again,
39:05feedback is an important part
39:06of this.
39:06We want to hear from players.
39:08You know,
39:09is this the right direction?
39:11What should we be doing differently?
39:13And that's part of this.
39:14To be clear,
39:15like,
39:15this doesn't mean
39:16that we won't make
39:17other changes to classes
39:18along the way.
39:19We do want to address
39:21outstanding issues
39:22throughout development,
39:23not just focus on
39:24one class at a time
39:25at the expense
39:25of all else.
39:27However,
39:27our primary focus
39:28will be on addressing
39:29each class holistically,
39:31revamping them
39:32both visually
39:33and mechanically,
39:34again,
39:34to modernize them
39:35and tackle
39:36major player concerns
39:38like class identity,
39:40build viability,
39:40and flexibility.
39:41It's a different way
39:44we could go about it
39:45is to try to hit
39:46like many classes
39:47all at once again,
39:48again,
39:48and again,
39:49and again.
39:49But taking a step back
39:51and looking at the classes,
39:52looking where we want
39:54the classes to be,
39:54again,
39:55based on feedback
39:55from players,
39:56we thought was really important
39:57to be able to do this
39:58as well as possible.
40:00I think it's also important
40:01for us to touch on PvP
40:02and some things
40:03that we're doing
40:04for the PvP community.
40:05Yeah, absolutely.
40:05I mean,
40:06like I mentioned earlier
40:07when we were going
40:07over the roadmap,
40:08we are making
40:09some pretty big investments
40:10in PvP this year.
40:12So first,
40:12we'll continue
40:13our PvP vengeance work
40:14after the March update,
40:15and we'll share learnings
40:17and a new plan shortly after that.
40:19We're going to be launching
40:20a new PvP progression system
40:23that's going to include
40:24dedicated PvP rewards,
40:26including unique cosmetics
40:27that we're planning
40:28to update regularly,
40:30and that's likely
40:30coming in June.
40:32The team's also bringing back
40:33three-sided battlegrounds.
40:35That's, again,
40:35something that players
40:36have been asking for,
40:37probably starting
40:39with a three-sided
40:40battleground weekends
40:40to see what players think.
40:42If it's received positively,
40:43we'll make it available
40:44more often
40:45or potentially make it
40:46in a permanent mode.
40:48Cool.
40:49We'll be addressing
40:49pain points
40:50and quality of life
40:51improvements with PvP.
40:52Just a few examples.
40:54We're planning to add ways
40:55to get around Cereidle faster.
40:57We're going to be fixing
40:59the Alessia, Ash,
41:01and Chalman keeps
41:02to stop the issue
41:04of players slingshotting
41:05into the inner keeps,
41:06which players have understandably
41:07expressed frustration about.
41:09We're fixing
41:10a couple of battleground maps
41:11like Riemann's Folly
41:13and Huntsman's Fortress
41:15to address spawn camping issues.
41:17And those are just
41:18a few examples.
41:19There will be more things
41:20like this over the course
41:21of the next year.
41:23And just like everything
41:24we've talked about today,
41:25all of this will be available
41:27to all players
41:28who own ESO.
41:30No new chapter
41:31or DLC required.
41:32This focus on base game health,
41:35transparency,
41:36and listening to your feedback.
41:38It's not just a temporary goal.
41:40It's the foundation
41:41of our new model
41:42and the key
41:42to ESO's future.
41:44I've said this before,
41:45but ESO is nothing.
41:47It's nothing without you,
41:48the players.
41:49And we truly believe
41:50that by building
41:51this game with you
41:52that we can make
41:53the next decade
41:53of Elder Scrolls Online
41:54the best one yet.
41:56All right.
41:56Well, we covered a lot
41:58in this show.
41:59And while we'll have
41:59web articles going up
42:01with more details shortly,
42:02we did just want to
42:03quickly summarize
42:04everything we just went through.
42:05So first,
42:06seasons are coming to ESO.
42:08This is going to introduce
42:09a host of new
42:10and varied
42:11and sometimes even
42:12experimental content
42:13that will be free
42:14for all ESO players.
42:16Each season will also
42:17introduce a Tamriel Tome.
42:19This is going to give you
42:20new ways to unlock
42:21in-game rewards
42:22with both paid
42:23and free options.
42:25And we're adding
42:26the Gold Coast Bazaar
42:27for even more items.
42:29Season zero is going to
42:30kick off all of those
42:31quality of life features
42:32that we covered
42:33in addition to the
42:34visual refresh
42:35and mechanic updates
42:36for the classes
42:36and the combat skill lines.
42:38As a reminder,
42:39the next game update
42:40will roll out March 9th
42:42on all platforms
42:43simultaneously.
42:44And moving forward,
42:45all updates and patches
42:46are also going to occur
42:47on the same day,
42:49which is really exciting
42:50for console players.
42:52Season zero is officially
42:53going to kick off
42:54on April 2nd,
42:55along with the first
42:56Tamriel Tome.
42:57And that's going to be
42:58followed by the Night Market
42:59launching on April 29th.
43:01And remember,
43:02if you want to get
43:03a first look at season zero
43:04and a lot of the things
43:05we covered today,
43:06it will be available
43:07on the test server
43:08next week.
43:09So your feedback
43:10on our future plans,
43:11as we've said a few times
43:13throughout today's stream,
43:14whether it's about
43:14season zero,
43:16update 49,
43:16or anything else
43:17from the roadmap
43:18is very important to us.
