00:00Big cook, little cook, welcome to our cafe. Big cook, little cook, want you to come and play.
00:15Meeting all the friends we cook for, sharing stories, trips and fun. Big cook, little cook, we'll cook for everyone!
00:29He's got to be here somewhere. Maybe it's in here. No? Oh, hello. Welcome to our cafe. The best cafe in the world.
00:44I'll be with you in a minute. I'm just looking for something. Oh, maybe it's in here.
00:51Looking for something small? You surprised me, Ben. Just trying to help. Have you lost something?
01:03The button's come off my trousers and I can't find it anywhere.
01:07Oh, well, we'll need to get a needle and thread and sew it back on. I'll find it.
01:11OK. Oh, hang on a minute. If I've lost my button, I won't need a needle and thread, will I?
01:17Oh, well, that's good, small. Why? Because I can't find the needle and thread either.
01:24It's the ice cream van. Whoopee! Quick, Ben, get the money. OK. Um...
01:33Oh, hang on, small. I can't find the money. Oh, no. We can't find anything today, can we?
01:40Well, we can't be worrying about that now, small. Sounds like we've got a customer.
01:45I'm on my way. Woo-hoo!
01:57Who's in our cafe today, small? Wow! What a surprise!
02:02Who is it? See if you can guess. She's come all the way from Australia.
02:07Australia? Wow!
02:10And she's as big as you, Ben. And her feet are even bigger than yours.
02:15I know. It's Emily Emu.
02:18Oh, no, Ben. But I'll give you another clue. She keeps her babies in her pouch.
02:24I've got it. It's Kim the kangaroo.
02:27That's it. And she loves hopping. Now, what can we cook for a kangaroo?
02:34I think it's time to look in my book.
02:48We need a story to help us cook.
02:50Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
02:53Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World. Let me see.
02:58I'd always wanted to visit Australia. It's such a huge country with lots of interesting animals.
03:07Koala bears and noisy kookaburra birds.
03:11And, of course, kangaroos. Hey! I've always wanted to jump like a kangaroo. Boing, boing. Ho, ho, ho.
03:22But when I met Kim the kangaroo, she wasn't jumping. She was slumping. She was totally exhausted.
03:30I asked her what the matter was. It's my children, Jenny and Jemima, she said.
03:36They keep throwing their toys everywhere. I'm worn out trying to pick them all up.
03:41I went to find Jenny and Jemima to ask them for their help.
03:45We didn't mean to make a mess, they said. We just wanted to find our favourite toys, Wally and Sid.
03:53They're baby kangaroos just like us. And we can't find them anywhere. Boo, hoo, hoo.
04:00We all need to tidy up, I told them. We're never going to find Wally and Sid in this mess.
04:07Let's pick up all these toys. That'll help Mum too. You can put them in your pouches.
04:13That sounds like fun, they said. And soon they were hopping around, filling their pouches with toys.
04:21When Kim the kangaroo saw her children picking up their toys, she joined in.
04:26We soon got them all back into the toy box.
04:30Once all the other toys had been cleared away, Jenny and Jemima spotted their favourite toys sitting on a rock.
04:37Hooray! they shouted. We've found Wally and Sid.
04:42Try not to lose them again, Kim told them.
04:45We won't, they said. Small's given us a good idea.
04:50We'll keep them in our pouches for safe keeping.
04:55Kim the kangaroo was so pleased I'd got them to tidy up, she gave me a ride in her pouch.
05:00Hoo, hoo. So I got to jump like a kangaroo after all.
05:04Little cook to the rescue once again.
05:08That was a great adventure.
05:10Ho, ho, ho. So Jenny and Jemima found the perfect place to keep all their things safe.
05:16Wahey!
05:18Yes Ben, in their pouches.
05:20That's what we need. Somewhere to keep our things safe.
05:23But what can we cook for Kim the kangaroo?
05:26Hmm, well nothing springs to mind.
05:30Ho, ho, ho. No.
05:32I know. Big cook's big cookery book.
05:44Of course, the big cookery book. There's recipes for everything in there.
05:48And where do we look for things to cook?
05:50In the book. In the book. In big cook's book.
05:54Aha! The perfect thing. Kangaroo pouch.
05:58Brilliant.
06:00Come on then little cook. You read out the ingredients and I'll see if we've got them.
06:04OK, let's see. We're going to need onion.
06:07Onions over here. Oh yes, got the onion. Yep.
06:10Potatoes. Oh yes, here we go. Got the potatoes.
06:13Garlic. Oh, that's in here as well. Here we are. Got it.
06:17Baby sweet corn cobs. Oh, they'll be in the fridge.
06:20Here we go. Nice and yellow. Got those small.
06:24Spinach. Oh yes, spinach here.
06:26That's what makes you strong. Got it.
06:28Lemon. That's over here. Got the lemon small.
06:32Coconut milk. Oh, that'll be in the cupboard. Coconut milk.
06:36Here we are. Got the coconut milk.
06:38Tomato puree. In here as well. Got that.
06:42Mild curry powder. Oh, very tasty. Got it small.
06:46Raisins. Here we go. I love raisins. Yep.
06:49Vegetable oil. Vegetable oil. Here we go. Got that.
06:53And naan bread. Oh, very tasty.
07:02Here we are. Everything we need for the recipe.
07:06I've always wondered how naan bread is made, Ben.
07:09Well, why don't you whiz off and find out, little cook, and I'll get everything ready.
07:13That's a great idea. See you later.
07:15Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
07:17Hey, why don't you come along too?
07:21We-hey!
07:23Go small, go small, go small, whiz away.
07:29I wonder what he'll see today.
07:40I'm so excited.
07:42To make naan bread, first of all you need to make the dough.
07:46You need some milk.
07:49Then some baking powder.
07:55And eggs.
07:58Those black seeds will give the naan bread a lovely flavour.
08:05Now for some water.
08:08And then it has to be mixed together.
08:13Mixy, mixy, mixy. Whoopee!
08:16I nearly forgot.
08:20You also need flour to make dough.
08:22Hee-hee-hee.
08:25It's all sticky and gooey.
08:31Now the dough can be made into naan bread.
08:37First, the dough is pressed into the right shape.
08:43It's ready to be cooked.
08:45In a special clay oven.
08:48The naan bread is stuck to the side of the oven to cook.
08:52That's clever.
08:55It's very hot in there.
08:59And the naan bread cooks really quickly.
09:02That looks great.
09:08Yummy!
09:10See you later.
09:15Oh, I still can't find our things anywhere.
09:22Wahey! I'm back!
09:25I saw a chef making naan bread in a special oven.
09:29Sounds amazing, Small.
09:30Come on.
09:31Let's get cooking.
09:32We're all ready.

10:00Friends in our cafe, we cook for them all.
10:05When your tummy gets all rumbly, you're ready for a treat.
10:11You can make something delicious to eat.
10:21Have you cleaned the surfaces?
10:23Yes.
10:24Have you washed your hands?
10:25Yes.
10:26All clean and ready to cook.
10:29Do you remember the ingredients to kangaroo pouch?
10:32You do.
10:33There was onion.
10:35One.
10:36Finely chopped.
10:37Potatoes.
10:38200 grams.
10:39Cubed.
10:40Garlic.
10:41One clove.
10:42Crushed.
10:43Baby sweet corn cobs.
10:44Ten.
10:45Cut into quarters.
10:46Lengthways.
10:47Spinach.
10:48Two handfuls.
10:49Lemon.
10:50The juice of one.
10:51Coconut milk.
10:52200 millilitres.
10:53Tomato puree.
10:54One tablespoon.
10:56Mild curry powder.
10:57One teaspoon.
10:58One teaspoon.
10:59Raisins.
11:00Four.
11:01Vegetable oil.
11:02One tablespoon.
11:03And naan bread.
11:05Two.
11:06Now Small and Ben are in a hurry to whip him up a special curry.
11:11Whoopee!
11:12Let's get started.
11:13Now the first thing we need to do is turn on the oven to 200 degrees Celsius, gas mark
11:19six.
11:20And remember, the oven is hot, hot, hot.
11:23So that's a job for your grown up helper to do.
11:26And so is this.
11:28I've heated the oil in a pan.
11:29I've heated the oil in a pan, and I'm going to fry the onions, the potato, and the garlic,
11:45over a medium heat for about five minutes.
11:49And remember to give them a bit of a stir every now and again, so that they don't stick.
12:02Now I'm going to add the curry powder.
12:06Give it a quick stir.
12:08Now if you don't like curry powder, you could always leave it out.
12:13There we go.
12:15And I'm going to turn the heat right down.
12:21Pop the lid on.
12:24And leave it to cook for about ten minutes.
12:27I'm going to give it a stir every now and again.
12:29And if it gets a little too dry, just add a bit of water.
12:32What are you doing Small?
12:34Oh, nothing to worry about Ben.
12:36I'm just looking for something.
12:41When the mixture's cooked for ten minutes, add the sweet corn.
12:46Don't forget to leave eight pointy bits for later.
12:49There to decorate the kangaroo later.
12:52In goes the sweet corn.
12:56And stir it in well.
13:02OK, now pour in the lemon juice.
13:09And the tomato puree.
13:14There we are.
13:16Mix it in well.
13:18Oh, this is coming along nicely now.
13:21There we go.
13:23And now all we need to do is pour in the coconut milk.
13:28And add the spinach leaves.
13:33And stir it all in.
13:39And leave it to bubble on a low heat.
13:43Are you all right Small?
13:46Yes, I'm fine Ben.
13:48I'm still looking for my comb.
13:50Oh, Small, did you know you had a...
13:52Now where did I put that comb?
13:54Look at that comb.
13:55Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
13:59Right.
14:00While this is cooking and making the curry all coconutty,
14:04we can wrap the naan breads in a little foil parcel.
14:09Like this.
14:14There we go.
14:15And then we can pop them in the oven for about ten minutes.
14:18So, oven gloves on.
14:21Open the door.
14:24And in they go.
14:29And that's another job for your grown-up helper to do.
14:31I'll set the timer for ten minutes.
14:37The naan bread's cooked and cool enough to handle.
14:43And the yummy curry's ready too.
14:46I've put one of the naans onto a plate.
14:49And I've cut the top off another one.
14:51To make a little pouch shape.
14:54Now we can spoon on some of the yummy curry.
15:00Onto the middle of the naan.
15:03And if I pop the other piece on top.
15:06Hey Presto.
15:09The curry's in a little pouch.
15:11Hee hee.
15:12We can use the other piece of naan for dipping in the curry later.
15:15I'm a kangaroo.
15:17Ho, ho, ho.
15:19Right.
15:21I've decorated the kangaroo using the saved pieces of baby sweet corn
15:26to make her ears, face, arms and tail.
15:31And now all we need to do is pop on some raisins.
15:35As her eyes.
15:38Little nose.
15:40Hee hee.
15:41And there we have it.
15:42Kangaroo pouch.
15:43What do you think Small?
15:44That looks great Ben.
15:45Kim will love it.
15:46We'll send it through then.
15:47Er, but Small.
15:48Don't you think you should comb your hair first?
15:49It's a terrible mess.
15:50I've been trying to Ben, but I can't find my comb.
15:51Ho, ho, ho, ho.
15:52Isn't that it stuck to your back?
15:53Huh?
15:54Ho, ho, ho, ho.
15:55It was hiding.
