00:00Big breaking news coming in from Maharashtra.
00:02It seems that the post-pol alliances which were made,
00:06which were quite unique and were raising eyebrows,
00:09now have been put aside by the Chief Minister Devendra Patnavesh himself.
00:15He has said that ideology is first and power is later for BJP.
00:21Remember in Akola, in District Akola,
00:23there was an alliance that was made with Sudhuddin Ovesi's AIMIM
00:28and now it seems that the Chief Minister who was not happy with it
00:33has told him to end that alliance and also an alliance between Congress and BJP
00:38saying that ideology is supreme.
00:43And joining us now is India Today's Vidya on this issue.
00:47Vidya, you know, these alliances that we saw in Maharashtra,
00:51that two post-election alliances, they were very surprising
00:56and now it seems that the top man has put them aside.
01:07Okay, we'll try and speak to Vidya in a bit,
01:09but let's try and explain to you what really happened.
01:12We saw the local body elections being held after many years in Maharashtra
01:17and in that, in many municipal councils later on after the election,
01:22we saw alliances emerging which people couldn't really wrap their heads around
01:27and it seems that the Chief Minister Devendra Patnavesh also could not wrap his head around
01:32this alliance that was made by the BJP.
01:34BJP made an alliance with the Asaduddin Ovesi's party AIMIM.
01:39BJP made an alliance with the Congress party which is supposed to be its ideological rival
01:46and they ended up making a local body alliance together
01:52and that is what upset the Maharashtra Chief Minister
01:57and he has made it clear that all these alliances do not have his permission,
02:02they do not have his blessings
02:03and he has warned the local leaders who went ahead and made these alliances
02:07that they need to put these alliances aside.
02:11Remember, the BJP had entered into a post-pol alliance
02:14with the Congress and AIMIM in some municipal councils of Maharashtra
02:21and these tie-ups have now been rejected by Devendra Patnavesh
02:26and he has warned of action against the party leaders
02:29who were involved in forming these alliances.
02:32Now, the civic elections were held last month
02:35and the BJP joined hands with Congress
02:38and the Ajit Pawar led NCP as well
02:42under the banner of Ambarnath Vikas Agadi
02:45and it seems that Vidya now joins us on the phone line.
02:51Vidya, all these alliances that we had seen,
02:55BJP AIMIM, BJP Congress, of course,
02:58these were something that people couldn't really understand the basis of.
03:02So, what is happening now?
03:04What has the Chief Minister said?
03:07Well, the Chief Minister has, of course,
03:09come down heavily on the BJP unit
03:11which has gone and formed this alliance
03:12and asked for it to be withdrawn immediately
03:14and it is a similar case with the Congress as well
03:17which claims that they did not know,
03:20the senior leaders of the Congress party
03:21did not know in the state
03:23as to whether this kind of alliance was being formed
03:26at a very local level.
03:27Though they are saying that, you know,
03:29it was formed because of very local issues
03:32against the Ekna Sinde faction
03:35that took at Ambarnath
03:36that they had formed the alliance with the BJP
03:38but because it goes against the ethos
03:41that the party really stands for now
03:43that the party has now decided
03:45to suspend those very leaders
03:47who, you know,
03:48they issued a show cause notice
03:50and suspension letter
03:51to the bloc leader of Ambarnath
03:54as well as those leaders,
03:55elected leaders
03:56who had formed this kind of coalition in Ambarnath
04:01and that's one of the reasons
04:02why Congress too
04:03is coming down heavily on its own leaders
04:05and there
04:06and it's a similar case with the BJP
04:09with the Chief Minister now expressing
04:10that, you know,
04:12local leaders who have formed this
04:14will have to break off this alliance
04:16before it gets out of hand.
04:18Right.
04:19Thank you Vidya for all those details.
04:21So, clearly now the party top leaders
04:23are putting an end to this uneasy alliance
04:26that we were seeing happening at local levels.
