Transcript
00:01Hey, what's up, everyone? I'm Brent.
00:02I'm Zach.
00:03We are two-fourths of the band Shinedown.
00:06We are.
00:07We are.
00:08So we're going to play you a song that's all about finding your purpose
00:14and going after the life that you want
00:18and doing your best to make your dreams come true
00:22and stay inauthentic.
00:24This is called Searchlight.
00:30I'm a new soul working my way down an old road
00:37Asphalt churches all around
00:43Roots break through this deep foundation
00:50Can't find my place on solid ground
00:57No one taught me how to let go
01:02Been hanging by a thread on a tightrope
01:05And you can't speak what you don't know
01:08That's for sure
01:11So don't wait up for me
01:14I don't need your searchlight
01:18While you're fast asleep
01:21I'm running free
01:23It's alright
01:25I know you had a plan
01:27But that's not who I am
01:29I don't know where I land
01:30But I don't need your searchlight to see anymore
01:37Raindrops fall and they feel like the open ocean
01:47Spider webs shimmer in the dark
01:53These movies play out in slow motion
02:00And cobwebs linger in the heart
02:06No one taught me how to let go
02:12Been hanging by a thread on a tightrope
02:15But you can still learn
02:17But you can still learn what you don't know
02:19That's for sure
02:22So don't wait up for me
02:25I don't need your searchlight
02:29While you're best asleep
02:32I'm running free
02:34It's alright
02:36I know you had a plan
02:38But that's not who I am
02:40I don't know where I land
02:41But I don't need your searchlight to see anymore
03:01I'm a new soul
03:02Making my way down an old road
03:05Just looking for a place on solid ground
03:12So don't wait up for me
03:16I don't need your searchlight
03:20While you're best asleep
03:23I'm running free
03:25It's alright
03:27I know you had a plan
03:29But that's not who I am
03:31I don't know where I land
03:32But I don't need your searchlight to see anymore
03:39The whole interview has to be done while drinking Shinedown Hot Sauce
03:58Yeah, I'm out
03:59This interview
04:00Is it really hot?
04:01This interview is brought to you by Shinedown Hot Sauce
04:03The one to the far
04:06Now you're far left
04:07The attention, attention, this is hot
04:08Yeah, that one's hot
04:09No, it's the
04:10Is it the attention?
04:11Yeah, that one's hot
04:12Yeah, that one's hot
04:13That one's the hot
04:14Are you guys into hot sauce?
04:15Our drummer is
04:16Oh, so the drummer's like, let's go
04:17We're gonna hot sauce it up
04:18This was his
04:19This was his baby
04:20So
04:21So he spent about eight and a half months doing flavor profiles with a company called Torchbearer
04:25Which does hot sauces for like hot ones and stuff like that
04:28And so
04:29Long of the short of it though
04:31The very first one that was released was the Symptom Sauce
04:35Okay
04:36And that actually won
04:38Its first time out in the New York City Hot Sauce
04:42Hot Sauce of the Year
04:43Convention
04:44Hot Sauce of the Year?
04:45Yeah
04:46That was a thing, we learned
04:47It's a
04:48We know that it's the band of the year but then Hot Sauce of the Year
04:50It won best in show for the Chipotle category
04:53And it's very rare that like you get
04:55No one gets like first, you know, their first year
04:58Right
04:59Like no one wins first
05:00And actually all three of them are award winning
05:03That is fantastic
05:04Right?
05:05I had no idea
05:06This is so fun
05:07You got a spot for it
05:08Is there a trophy there for the
05:09Yeah
05:10There is a trophy
05:11We actually did win a trophy
05:12Next to all the other trophies
05:14Yeah
05:15We're gonna put it next to all
05:16Does it look like a chili pepper or something?
05:17That'd be sick
05:18I don't
05:19I think Barry has it
05:20I can't remember
05:21I don't even know what it looks like
05:22Yeah, me neither
05:23You know, before we came in here I was gonna
05:24I was kinda joking and gonna ask if you guys got lost
05:27Because you know we're a country radio station
05:29Yes sir
05:30Okay
05:31No, but we know that there's
05:32Ma'am
05:33There's been a lot going on in the country music community
05:36With your new song, Searchlight
05:39Even the Grand Ole Opry invited you out to play
05:42When I first heard this song I didn't immediately think country
05:45But in the country world right now
05:48It seems like anything goes
05:49It's like you have traditional country, new country, pop, rock
05:52It's like a subgenre
05:54Between the genres
05:55There's like a mix of everything
05:56So just tell us about what it's been like
05:58Kinda being invited into that space as of recently
06:01It's been amazing
06:02I mean we have so many friends in that world
06:04And to me like
06:05Most of the new country artists that come out now
06:08Are kinda wanna be in rock bands
06:10It feels like
06:11Like they're like
06:12Like Hardy put out a rock album
06:13Yeah
06:14First time I ever saw Hardy
06:15And I've known Michael for a long time
06:17The first time I ever saw him I was like
06:18This is a rock band
06:19This is a rock show
06:20Morgan's kinda the same thing
06:22This is a rock show
06:23So it's like to be in that space feels more natural now
06:25Than maybe it would've ten years ago
06:27But now it feels normalized
06:29Like it doesn't feel like we swerved the bus over in some lane
06:33That we weren't supposed to be in
06:34You know it feels
06:35It feels like something that's a natural fit now
06:38And the song just kinda lent itself
06:40We don't ever
06:41We didn't go in and go
06:42Let's write a song and put a fiddle on it
06:43It was like when we write songs
06:45The song is just
06:46We were told to
06:47Yeah
06:48What do you mean?
06:49What do you mean?
06:50Cause I wanna know the story about the song
06:51I wanna let my man finish
06:52Oh it just
06:53The song just kinda came to us
06:54It was
06:55It didn't take long to write
06:57And when it came to it was like
06:59It just lent itself to that kinda thing
07:01It wasn't
07:02We're never like
07:03This is the only chart we haven't been on
07:06Let's go to this chart
07:07Cause then the next one
07:08We'd have to make like an R&B record
07:10You know?
07:11Right
07:12We've been on five so far
07:13Do you think you could do that?
07:14We probably you know listen
07:15We don't limit ourselves to anything
07:16You know we could probably do something
07:17You like a challenge
07:18You like a challenge don't you?
07:19I just
07:20I think we're
07:21We're
07:22And that's the one thing I do
07:23I respect so much about the country world
07:25A good song is a good song is a good song
07:27And like that's what all we care about
07:29So if the song
07:30Whatever the song lends itself to
07:31Is what we want it to be
07:32We're never gonna try to force something
07:34One of the dynamics too
07:35About like the way that we look at things
07:37Is that we understand the world
07:40In regards to the music industry
07:42And how people consume music
07:43And that streaming is everywhere
07:44And I think that's a great thing
07:46Where you can explore
07:47But that's all fine and good
07:49But where we come from
07:50Radio will give you a career
07:52And so that's where the difference is
07:55And the whole reason that we've been able to
07:57Honestly
07:58Be able to be authentic
08:00And honest
08:01Is because radio has allowed us to do that
08:03Our fan base has allowed us to do that
08:05So again
08:06You know like he was saying
08:07We're not walking into these rooms
08:08When we make these records
08:09And say
08:10Let's write a song
08:11In this style
08:12Or this style
08:13About this subject matter
08:14Because we want to win an award
08:16Or we want some kind of a trophy
08:18You have to have something to say
08:20And for Searchlight
08:22When we were in there
08:24The initial first run of the song
08:26It was a different song
08:28And then I sat with it for a few days
08:31Went back into the studio
08:33With everybody
08:34And said
08:35Let me re-sing this
08:36And did you get like push back?
08:38We were like
08:39Oh no it's done
08:40We don't want to do the work
08:41I didn't get push back
08:42We don't do that
08:43We don't work that way
08:44I just heard it differently
08:47Than what had been presented in the demo
08:49And you know
08:52Me and Zach
08:53Were born and raised in Tennessee
08:54He's 901
08:55I'm 865
08:56So Memphis and Knoxville
08:58We were raised on country music
09:00We were raised on a lot of different music
09:02But for the song
09:03I just went in and said
09:05Let me do this
09:07And just hear me out
09:08I sang it
09:09And then Eric went back in
09:11And you know
09:12Kind of reworked
09:14Some of the track
09:15We added a banjo
09:16Because it asked for a banjo
09:18We added a steel guitar
09:20And a slide
09:21Because it asked for that
09:23And it had more of an endearing quality
09:27Because I sang it with a bit more of a draw
09:31And we have some people that listen to it
09:33That are in country music
09:34That are like
09:35This is very country
09:36And then we have some people that are like
09:37I don't know if it's country
09:39And that's fine
09:40Because at the end of the day
09:41We had to be honest
09:42With the song
09:43With the song
09:44We're a vessel
09:45For these songs
09:46Like we have to be very open
09:48And allow the universe to talk to us
09:50But I think the song
09:53And we were talking about this earlier
09:54I just look at the band that we're in
09:56That Shinedown's everyone's band
09:58So we're pretty broad musically
10:01And then when did the fiddle come in?
10:03Fiddle came in after the Opry
10:04After the Opry
10:05All right, so
10:06Tell me about the Opry invitation
10:08Because that was them reaching out to you
10:11They had no idea that there was even a song
10:13So they didn't know about
10:14They had no idea
10:15It was almost like the universe knew though
10:17You know?
10:18100%
10:19Pretty much
10:20Yeah, they didn't know that we had a song
10:21That we were getting ready to take to country
10:24They just asked us to do it
10:26Which of course like
10:27Again, two Tennessee boys
10:29Our bass players from South Carolina
10:30Our drummers from Florida
10:31All four of us grew up watching the Grand Ole Opry
10:33Hee Haw
10:34Dukes of Hazzard
10:35In that order
10:36Literally, every Friday night
10:37At my grandmother's house
10:38I watched the Grand Ole Opry
10:39Hee Haw
10:40Dukes of Hazzard
10:41Sometimes stay up for Dallas
10:43You know?
10:44And you know
10:45If I was feeling frisky
10:46You know?
10:47And um
10:48Or my parents fell asleep
10:49Who shot JR?
10:50But you know, so
10:51Poor JR
10:52It was
10:53You know, to get an invite to the Opry is
10:54It doesn't matter what genre of music you're in
10:56That's
10:57You know
10:58I'm sure there's other bands
10:59Like rock bands that would be like
11:00Eh, whatever
11:01Like for us though
11:02That is
11:03The mother
11:04That's the Mecca
11:05Of everything
11:06So it was amazing
11:08And then the second we announced it
11:10I mean within 30 minutes
11:12I got a text from Carrie Underwood
11:13It says
11:14I'm not gonna say what she said
11:15But she said
11:16The expletive Opry
11:18And with a bunch of explanation points
11:19And I was like
11:20Yeah, you're introducing us, right?
11:21As a joke
11:22And then like the day before
11:24I hadn't talked to her since
11:25And the day before she goes
11:26Hey, I'm still introducing you, right?
11:27I wrote all this stuff down
11:28I was like
11:29Absolutely, you're doing it
11:30So it was just to have her
11:32Because we've known her for so long
11:33It was a very full circle moment
11:35For a bunch of kids from the south
11:37To be able to play the Grand Ole Opry
11:38And have someone as illustrious and amazing
11:41And you know, one of my favorite singers
11:43Is Carrie Underwood
11:44And it makes so much sense by the way
11:45Carrie Underwood
11:46Because she loves rock
11:47Absolutely
11:48And she is country as well
11:49She's the best
11:50She's the best
11:51How does your relationship with Carrie start?
11:52Where did that come from?
11:53Yeah, how are you texting Carrie Underwood?
11:55Like that's normal
11:56Me and her
11:57I think bonded originally over our love of Halloween movies
12:00Okay, yes
12:01I know she loves scary movies
12:02She loves scary movies
12:03And I have a bunch of like original like Halloween masks
12:07My name is Michael Myers
12:08My real name is Michael Myers
12:10Really?
12:11I'm actually in the last Halloween movie as well
12:13Are you lying?
12:14No, for real?
12:15No, I'm really not
12:16I play an undercover cop
12:17In the diner scene
12:18In the diner scene
12:19That's like next level horror movie
12:21It's my birthday in the movie
12:22Yeah, they made me shave my face
12:24I don't look the same
12:25But yeah
12:26It was um
12:27And so we kind of bonded over that
12:28And um
12:29And then obviously I went out to one of her shows
12:31Met her and Mike
12:32And Mike's such a cool guy too
12:33And then so
12:34When uh
12:35Every time we come to Nashville
12:36She'll come out
12:37If she comes around
12:38We'll go to her shows as well
12:39And again
12:40One of the best performers you'll ever see live
12:42I mean she's so amazing
12:44And like
12:45The reason like
12:46I get jealous sometimes of the country artists
12:47So they
12:48We call it country touring
12:49Where they just
12:50They do Thursday, Friday, Saturday
12:51Carrie is a
12:52Kind of a rock artist in that way
12:54She'll tell you
12:55She's like when I go on tour
12:56I go on tour
12:57She does not do Thursday, Friday, Saturday
12:58Like she leaves and is gone for three months
13:00Like that
13:01She does what we do
13:02Yeah
13:03So it's really cool
13:04And I think that just kind of came about naturally
13:05I started playing Halloween once
13:06She didn't even take Halloween off
13:08She was like we're doing it on Halloween
13:09I was like alright
13:10She's the best
13:11And one of the best shows I've ever seen
13:12Yeah
13:13We have so much to learn about Shinedown
13:15Because you know
13:16We just know you of having the most number ones out of any rock band
13:20But didn't realize you're doing movies
13:22And you grew up on country music
13:24You have hot sauce
13:25And you have hot sauce
13:26I know
13:27We literally just try to be everywhere
13:28Yeah
13:29Let's go
13:30Dip our toe in everything
13:31Yeah I like that
13:32Can we go back and actually get a story behind one of your biggest songs
13:36Which is Second Chance
13:37Yeah
13:38Well I mean that whole record
13:39Which is crazy to think this
13:41But we just found this out
13:43I guess it was like earlier this week
13:45Last week
13:46Yeah
13:47Last week
13:48Not the song Sound of Madness
13:50The album
13:51Just hit a billion streams
13:53Holy
13:54Which is crazy
13:55Congratulations
13:56Thank you
13:57Yeah
13:58It seems like a fake number
13:59Does it seem real?
14:00Like when you're like a billion
14:01None of this seems real
14:02It doesn't
14:03That's all feels like Monopoly
14:04I was asking earlier
14:05I don't mean to interrupt
14:06I just want to ask one
14:07Do you believe in fate?
14:09Because I was asking you earlier
14:10We're here with you all
14:11Yeah but like you talk
14:12You're like well I believe in gut feelings
14:14And I'm like okay well that also could lead you to fate
14:16Absolutely
14:17We believe faith and fate I think we're strong believers in
14:20No but like Second Chance came from
14:24I mean in all honesty
14:27It really was about the fact that
14:30So you know I'm from Knoxville
14:33I have a past
14:34We don't have to necessarily get into that
14:36But I was not an easy kid to raise
14:39And my parents even with all those hurdles and those obstacles
14:44You know I was still and still am their son
14:49And so there were a lot of people that were just like
14:51Why do you even bother?
14:52This kid is out of his mind
14:54And you know this and that
14:55And he wants to do these
14:56You know he thinks he's gonna do
14:58You know be a performer
14:59And he can write songs and all this stuff
15:01And you know I was defiant
15:03And anybody that you know would talk to them about that
15:08They were like he's on a journey
15:10You know what I mean?
15:12It was more like he just hasn't found his purpose
15:14Like his true purpose yet
15:16But they always had my back
15:18You know so when it was time
15:21Because I got signed to Atlantic Records with a different group
15:25And then that went for a nine month demo phase
15:30And then I was dropped by Atlantic
15:32And then I was re-signed to a development deal
15:34And then I found this guy
15:36All right
15:37And the rest is history
15:38And well I found my three
15:40I found the three brothers that I had waited my whole life for
15:44Yeah
15:45You know with Zach and Barry and Eric
15:47But to the song
15:49When I made the decision to take the development deal
15:53Because all I knew is that
15:55And that was because of Steve Robertson
15:57Who was the A&R
15:58Who was A&R'd every record
16:02You know it led me to Florida
16:04Because the band is based
16:06The estate is 2001 in Jacksonville, Florida
16:09But right before I took off
16:11Like I was leaving to go do this again
16:13Yeah I think my parents are like
16:14He gets signed
16:15He got dropped
16:16Now he's got signed again
16:17Like what is happening?
16:18Well even just doing music
16:19They're like what is going on?
16:20Yeah it doesn't seem like a normal job
16:22Right
16:23For parents to be like
16:24Oh yeah of course he'll do this
16:25Right?
16:26It doesn't seem like feasible
16:27Right
16:28So me and my mom had a thing growing up
16:29Where on Sundays
16:30We would have McDonald's breakfast
16:32So we had hot cakes, sausage
16:34The whole thing
16:35It was like our thing
16:36And we hadn't done it in years
16:37Or I hadn't you know
16:38But so I woke up
16:40Two Sundays
16:42Or was it I leave on a Sunday?
16:44No I left on a Monday
16:45So I'm in the house
16:49And I'm you know
16:50I'm still asleep what have you
16:51But it was Sunday
16:52And I could smell it in the house
16:54Like you know what I mean?
16:55You know that smell
16:56Yeah
16:57And so I'm gonna speed this up
16:59So we
17:00I went upstairs
17:02And my mom had you know
17:04It laid out and everything
17:05Still in the styrofoam
17:06Like you know old school
17:07And she was like
17:09Will you have breakfast with me?
17:10I'm like
17:11Yes ma'am
17:12And
17:14And I sat down
17:15And we were just talking about life
17:17And stuff like that
17:18And she knows I'm getting ready to leave
17:19You know
17:21And she just looked at me and said
17:23Hey
17:25I can't really really tell you
17:27That I understand exactly
17:29What this is that you're after
17:31And what you're going for
17:32But what I do know is
17:35If you stay here
17:37You're gonna die here
17:40And I don't want that
17:41For you
17:42And why that matters
17:44Is because again
17:45I have a past
17:46And she's like
17:47Whatever you're chasing
17:48Because people would tell my parents
17:49Like what is he running from?
17:51My mom and my dad
17:52Were like he's not running from anything
17:53He's running towards something
17:55You know
17:56He's gotta find it
17:58And you know
17:59When we were in the writing sessions
18:01I have to be careful
18:02I get emotional
18:03They really believed in you
18:04They really believed in you
18:05Yeah
18:06Like really really really
18:07You know
18:08It was
18:09It's heavy now
18:10When I think about it
18:12Because they're one of the reasons
18:13Like I'm here
18:15So
18:17You know
18:18Just having that blessing
18:20From my parents
18:22And so when we were
18:23In the writing sessions
18:24For you know
18:25What would become
18:26The Sound of Madness
18:28That's what I thought about
18:29You know
18:30And it's my mom and my dad's favorite song
18:32Because
18:33Yeah
18:34Because people
18:35Understandably
18:36Yeah
18:37They get it
18:38Yeah yeah yeah
18:39But that dynamic
18:40And what's being said in that song
18:41Is like
18:42That sometimes
18:43Goodbye is a second chance
18:44Doesn't mean goodbye forever
18:45It means like
18:47Don't
18:48Second guess yourself
18:49You know
18:50Even if you fail
18:51It's fine
18:52Just go after it
18:53You know what I mean
18:54Because we always talk about
18:55Like you gotta fail
18:56Like we want
18:57You need to fail
18:58Many many times
19:00Like your failures
19:01Aren't gonna
19:02That is not
19:04That's not your legacy
19:05Your legacy is that
19:06You refuse to give up
19:07So you know
19:08The tell my mother
19:09Tell my father
19:10I've done
19:11All that whole dynamic
19:12Was that moment
19:13At the kitchen table
19:14Where they didn't
19:16They didn't have to do it
19:17And maybe they didn't realize
19:18What they were doing
19:20But I
19:21You know
19:22I wanted them to say
19:23It's okay
19:25Go get it
19:26All from some
19:27McDonald's hotcakes
19:28Hell yeah man
19:29Totally
19:30It's where the best things start
19:31Yeah yeah
19:32I feel like that
19:33When everyone was saying
19:34That he's chasing something
19:36But he doesn't know what it is
19:37Yeah
19:38Or we don't know what it is
19:39Did you always feel like
19:40You know
19:41You knew exactly
19:42What you were chasing
19:43I think me and him
19:44Are cut from the same cloth
19:45With that
19:46Like I don't have
19:47A memory
19:48Or a conscious thought
19:49Of not wanting to be
19:50A performer
19:51When I entered the earth
19:52I've never had a job
19:53Other than this
19:54That's incredible
19:55So
19:56It's good
19:57I started playing guitar
19:58When I was 13
19:59I started touring
20:00When I was 14
20:01Like did you ever think that
20:02Or did people probably told you
20:03You might need a backup
20:04Do you need a backup plan
20:05Well
20:06People told us
20:07But him and I never
20:08That's our joke
20:09We never have
20:10There's no plan B
20:11Yeah we encourage people
20:12Not to have a plan B
20:13But do you think that
20:14That's what drives you
20:15To be even better
20:16Because you're like
20:17This is all we have
20:18Yeah because I think
20:19If you don't make a plan B
20:20It's all you have
20:21It's all you make it
20:22Right
20:23You know what I mean
20:24My thing is
20:25I'm doing right now
20:26And making a living
20:27At what I would be doing
20:28Even if I was homeless
20:29I would be in an alley
20:30Somewhere playing guitar
20:31Or on Beale Street
20:32Or in Nashville
20:33You know like
20:34So I get to do
20:35What I was gonna be doing anyway
20:36I just get to take care
20:37Of my family doing it
20:38And have the best fans
20:39In the world
20:40Oh yeah
20:41Yeah we've gotten to play
20:42Little Caesars Arena
20:43Twice in what
20:44Three months now
20:45That's great
20:46And that's a country song
20:47Right there
20:48That's a Luke Combs song
20:49I'd still be doing this
20:50If I wasn't doing this
20:51Yeah and Luke's amazing too
20:53I love Luke
20:54And I couldn't help but notice
20:55When you were telling that story
20:56Your tattoo on your hand as well
20:58That says your pain is a gift
20:59Yeah yeah yeah
21:00Can you tell us about
21:01When you got that tattoo
21:02Yeah I got it in Texas
21:03It's actually the last time
21:07I put ink on my body
21:09I still need to get the Burge
21:11From Sound of Madness
21:12Which I haven't done yet
21:13Which I have to do
21:14That is not the last time
21:15You put ink on your body
21:16Your stomach was after that
21:17Was it my stomach?
21:18Oh yeah yeah I guess it was
21:19Don't
21:20Where's the camera?
21:21Where's the camera?
21:22Wherever it is
21:23Hey do me a favor
21:24Don't do drugs
21:26Don't
21:27Don't do it
21:29These are down bad decisions
21:30I'm telling you right now
21:31Don't do it
21:32It's so funny
21:33No this was
21:34I guess you're right
21:35It was the one on my stomach
21:36Still gotta get the birds though
21:37Yeah I do have to get the birds
21:38When Sound of Madness went platinum
21:3915 years ago
21:41We all said we were gonna get the birds
21:43I gotta put them right here
21:44I have the birds on my arm right here
21:46He's gotta get the birds
21:47Everyone else in the band
21:48Has the birds from Sound of Madness
21:49I'm sure we can find
21:50A good tattoo artist here in Detroit
21:51Are you just procrastinating?
21:52We found
21:53We have a lot of them
21:54We have them out on tour all the time
21:55I'm totally procrastinating
21:56He's just procrastinating
21:57It's a lot of effort
21:58I feel like
21:59He's just gonna show up
22:00I know him
22:01He won't
22:02He's not gonna make a thing about it
22:03Cause like every time a tattoo artist comes
22:05I've gotten a bunch of lyrics
22:06Like on this last tour
22:07I got like a turnpike troubadour's lyric
22:09And then a counting crows lyric on here
22:11And like I was like
22:12Hey I got a great tattoo artist
22:13I was like nah nah nah
22:14I'm gonna do it today
22:15When people look at it though
22:16They'll be like
22:17What do you mean my pain is a gift?
22:19Like cause it says
22:20Your pain is a gift
22:21I'm like no no no
22:22It's me
22:23It just means what doesn't destroy you
22:25You know
22:26Will make you stronger
22:28Or what doesn't kill you
22:29Makes you stronger
22:30But the reality of it is
22:31I need that as a memory
22:33You know to
22:34Not a memory
22:35But to remind myself
22:36Like you know
22:37You gotta use those moments
22:38That are painful as fuel
22:40You need them birds too
22:41Is what you need
22:42Yeah I need them birds too
22:43Yeah and then the one on my stomach
22:45Reminds me to
22:46Don't do drugs
22:47Like ever
22:49I need to go back and google it
22:51And see what it looks like
22:53I have a question though
22:54So if you guys have
22:55It looks hideous
22:56If you have one country song
22:58Does this mean
22:59Maybe you would entertain
23:01Like a country leaning album?
23:03We'll have to see
23:04Again it's that universe thing
23:06It's that universe thing
23:07You know
23:08Before we knew about
23:09What was going on here
23:10My immediate thought was
23:12Jelly Roll must have
23:13Something to do with this
23:14I just thought maybe
23:15There was something
23:16He collabs with everybody
23:18He's got a million collabs
23:20And you know
23:21His story
23:22His story of pain
23:23Yeah
23:24And comeback
23:25And everything
23:26Listen the world
23:27Made the right guy famous
23:28Yes
23:29We've known Jelly
23:30I've known Jelly for a very very
23:31Very long time
23:32And obviously he did his
23:33His last supporting tour with us
23:36In 2022
23:37Yeah
23:38When he toured with us all year
23:39And we knew that
23:40That was the last time
23:41He was gonna be supporting anyone
23:43You're like there he goes
23:44At that point
23:45We even talked about
23:46Doing it again in 2023
23:47And I was like buddy
23:48You're not
23:49The days of you opening for someone
23:51Are over
23:52And yeah again
23:53The world made the right guy famous
23:55The you know
23:56Media has missed a lot
23:58In making the wrong people famous
23:59Yeah
24:00They did not with that guy
24:01They made the
24:02They made a guy who
24:03The guy you see
24:04Is the guy you get
24:05And he's genuine
24:06When he gives you a hug
24:07He doesn't not want to do it
24:09He's not just doing it for pleasantries
24:10Right
24:11You know he's just that guy
24:12He's that guy
24:13And he's always been that guy
24:14And talk about somebody
24:15That's running towards something
24:16Like people
24:17Literally running now
24:18Now he is running
24:19Literally running
24:20Down like 215 pounds
24:21He just celebrated
24:22Looks incredible
24:23Yeah
24:24But the thing about that is
24:25Is like even when
24:26You know we met him
24:28You know there was just a lot of people
24:31That scratched their head
24:32At it
24:33And you know
24:34The way that we saw it
24:36Was he was so engaging
24:40And real
24:41Like just a real person
24:44And people talk about like
24:46You know well that was like
24:47An overnight thing
24:48And it's like no man
24:49This guy has been
24:50His entire life
24:52Has been leading up to this moment
24:54Or these moments
24:55And that's why
24:56He's so like locked in
24:59On everything
25:00Cause he's
25:01You know
25:02He's
25:03He has trained for this
25:05And you know
25:06He's an amazing influence
25:08On a lot of people
25:09All over the world
25:10We
25:11Dude he
25:12You know what Jelly Roll is?
25:13He's necessary
25:14That's what he is
25:15Yeah and it made sense
25:16I'm assuming
25:17You might have to start calling him Spring Roll
25:18Yeah
25:19You know
25:20Because he's
25:21Definitely
25:22I'm definitely
25:23Only calling him that
25:24We will definitely
25:25Welcome you in with open arms
25:26And if the
25:27And if you know
25:28Universe or God
25:29Or whatever it is
25:30Pushes you more towards country
25:32It's okay
25:33Thank you very much
25:34We love it
25:35We're honored to be here
25:36And even to have the opportunity
25:37And you know
25:38Everyone in the format
25:39Has been super nice to us
25:40Without question
25:41And you know
25:42Listen
25:43Music is powerful
25:44You know
25:45We've watched it save lives
25:46And you know
25:47At the end of the day
25:48I think it's what brings us all
25:49Together
25:50Like it literally
25:51Is the most universal language
25:52You know
25:53On this planet
25:54That we're on right now
25:55So embracing
25:56All kinds of
25:58Of music
25:59And you know
26:01All types of cultures
26:02You know
26:03That
26:04Just to get the opportunity
26:05Is you know
26:06Really
26:07All we've ever asked for
26:08Is just the
26:09You know
26:10We'll knock
26:11And hopefully
26:12We'll be let in
26:13You're here
26:14Yeah
26:15Thanks for doing it
26:16All right
26:17Shine down
26:18Thank you so much
26:19Thank you so much
26:20Both of you
26:21We appreciate you
26:22You
