00:27Il me semble bien.
00:54et, vous savez, Cuba being, quote, «ready to fall ».
00:59So is this action in Venezuela just the beginning of a more regional push
01:06by this president ?
01:07Well, in some ways it's a beginning.
01:09But in some ways, if you think about what he's been doing for the last 12 months,
01:13there is a pattern here.
01:14It's not traditional diplomacy, shall we say,
01:16and it's not even traditional American interventions.
01:20But if you think about the fact that he's given a $20 billion loan
01:24to the Argentinian government, which he regards as friendly.
01:30He's imposed massive tariffs on the Brazilian government run by somebody who he doesn't like.
01:37You know, there is already a pattern here, Venezuela, because of its oil, was next on his list.
01:43But clearly he has made a real policy position.
01:47He calls the Donro Doctrine, after the Monroe Doctrine of the 19th century.
01:52It's about the Western Hemisphere.
01:54And I think one of the more alarming things that he has actually said today
01:59is that he's talked about Greenland as well.
02:01So that's basically the whole of the Americas that he's talking about.
02:05But now, needless to say, Denmark and Greenland aren't very impressed about this.
02:10Cuba, I think, must be very, very worried, because he is right to say that most of its
02:15income was coming from Venezuela and Venezuelan oil.
02:20So there's a big question about whether these sanctions that is imposed on Venezuelan oil
02:25will actually completely crush the Cuban economy.
02:28So I don't think it can be at all.
02:33I think you've got to presume that these threats against both Colombia and Cuba are very real.
02:37They're very real.
