00:00An investigation is underway after two reportedly armed men entered a mosque during Ramadan prayers.
00:06The men were spotted acting suspiciously by volunteers at the Manchester Central Mosque on Upper Park Road in Victoria Park
00:13on Tuesday night.
00:14A spokesperson for the mosque said they were carrying bags, with one believed to be containing an axe and the
00:19other a hammer and a knife.
00:21Police arrested one of the men on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of Class B drugs.
00:26A search is now underway for the other suspect. GMP confirmed the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
00:33Superintendent Simon Nassim said no threats were made and thankfully no one was injured.
00:38Police patrols have been stepped up in the area.
