00:01Five years after her last appearance at the Australian Open, Venus Williams is back.

00:08The tournament kicks off on the 18th of January in Melbourne.

00:13Aged 45, Williams is to become the oldest woman to compete in an Australian Open main draw.

00:20Back in November, she announced she would play in Auckland, New Zealand,

00:25where she was given a wild card days ahead of the Australian Open.

00:30Her return to the tournament comes 28 years after her first appearance in the competition in 1998.

00:38That year, she beat her younger sister Serena in the second round,

00:43before losing in the quarter-finals to fellow American Lindsay Davenport.
