00:44You know, presents are really supposed to be for Christmas, but there's a New Year's present for the Mavericks and the MFFs.
00:50Anthony Davis returns tonight, Devin, from a two-game absence.
00:53You're talking about one of the best two-way players in the world.
00:55Somebody that can guard one through five, can help a lot of different ways when he's healthy on the floor.
01:01Offensively, he can go get you a bucket, win that one-on-one matchup.
01:04Jay Kidd talked about him being a calming presence for Nimhart, who struggled with him off the floor.
01:09And then, obviously, with Cooper Flagg, taking one of the best defenders off of him.
01:12That should open up the court for him.
01:14And you've got Max Christie shooting the ball well on the weak side.
01:16Defensively, he's going to rebound, change shots, block shots.
01:20For a team that likes to push the ball, really kind of protecting that paint, that's going to be huge tonight.
01:23Well, you saw monster numbers for A.D. in the six games that Dallas won in December, nearly 25 points per game.
01:30One of their losses in December, Devin, was on the road against Philadelphia.
01:33We started that broadcast talking about their dynamic backcourt.
01:36We know how good Tyrese Maxey is.
01:38And B.J. Edgecombe that night and ever since has continued to hold up his end of the story as well.
01:42It was really a star in the making in this league.
01:44And when you can learn from a guy like Tyrese Maxey and take in all that information and put it on the floor,
01:49you see exactly that.
01:50He's a three-level scorer, can hit the three, can get to the mid-range.
01:53He's athletic enough to finish at the rim.
01:55But in the fourth quarter, he is unafraid.
01:58Coming off a game-winning shot against Memphis, hit big-time shots in that fourth quarter.
02:02So we're going to win this game.
02:04Stopping the backcourt is going to be a big part of that.
02:06And a big part of that is B.J. Esco.
02:08Well, one of his top five scoring games earlier this season was against Dallas with those 26 points.
02:13And this year, amongst rookies, he's in the top six in these four categories.
02:18Points, he's third.
02:19Board's over five.
02:20Assist, he's fourth at four game.
02:22And he's the best steals guy amongst rookies at 1.3 per contest.
02:26The Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers meet for the second and final time this regular season tonight.

03:11And that move back to the starting lineup really paid dividends in his second game

03:18Yeah, Jake Kitt talked about wanting to take a different approach
03:20and moving him into the starting lineup.
03:22I think part of that approach is wanting to get more aggressive in the perimeter attack
03:26as far as getting up more three-point attempts as a team.
03:28He responded with a strong game in Sacramento.
03:31He took that strong game into a really dominant performance against the Portland Trail Blazers.
03:35With Anthony Davis returning to the lineup,
03:37it should open up the floor a lot more for him to duplicate a performance like we saw in Portland.
03:42He had 25 points in the game on Monday night, and that puts him in the driver's seat.

05:47And there were some quality opponents in that run when you're talking about beating Denver
05:51and Houston.
05:52And the best team in the East, the Detroit Pistons.
05:54Now, before the game, Coach Kidd was talking about, look, this is a younger team.
05:57They have two rookies in the starting lineup.
05:59And a lot of times, younger players are more comfortable in their own building.
06:04And certainly, we've seen that from Cooper Flagg and Ryan Nimhart.
06:08And hopefully, they can build on that and get 20-26 started with a win in this building.
06:13Keep the streak alive.
06:14Well, they've got another quality opponent tonight.

06:17Their record coming into this game tonight.
06:19And they just won on the road two nights ago in dramatic fashion.

06:29the floor, able to get downhill and use that left hand he loves so much.

06:36The lowest output was the 15 he had on Monday against Portland.

06:42Niddy Jumper is on the money for Joel Embiid to start the scoring tonight for Philadelphia.
06:46He's rounding into shape, coming off one of his best performances in the last two years.
06:50Almost a triple-double.
06:52But he'd love to get to that mid-range and knock it down.

07:02The kid said before the game, Nimhard should benefit from AD's presence and the gravity that

10:58This is a team that really struggles to score in the first and third quarters.
11:01Yes, so getting off to that start is really imperative.
11:04Well, Dallas has a chance to retake the lead with a trip to the free throw line for Max Christie.
11:09On the foul here on Vijay Edgecombe, his first.
11:13Look at Max just attacking here, running him off the line.
11:18It's the next step for him as they start to really kind of take away that three-point shot.
11:22You've got to counter that with strong drives and seeing that back-to-back possession.
11:26And Barlow is called for the foul.
11:28So it's two fouls early in the game on Dominic Barlow.
11:30And Max Christie to the free throw line where he's made 50 free throws now this season.

11:38So approaching 85% on his free throws this year.
11:42Javari Walker will go in the game because of the early foul trouble for Dominic Barlow.
11:47And Paul George goes out and Quentin Grimes subs in.
11:50The 30th game of the year for Grimes, who's averaging about 15 points this year, but over the last eight.
11:58Only eight and a half points per game for him and 30% from the floor.
12:03So hoping to build off a double-digit scoring game against Memphis.
12:06He had 11 points and three steals against the Grizzlies the other night.
12:09That ended a three-game losing streak for Philly.
12:16The Sixers beat Dallas on December 20th and then lost three in a row before the OT win Tuesday against the Grizzlies.
12:24Keep the flag and a recovery by Grimes, but he goes out of bounds after he blocked the shot and caught the ball.

12:33First up for Dallas, Marshall in, Washington out.
12:39Marshall may be back in a roll off the bench, but he's going to play probably more minutes than any other individual off the bench for Dallas.
12:46Unless something out of the ordinary happens over the course of the game.
