07:47They're like, hey, you know, I've done my job.
07:50This job is not over.
07:51He's running into the play.
07:53That trail big knocks down the three.
07:55Man, that's some beautiful work there by the big man in the middle tonight.
07:58Just such a great sequence to show.
08:01But exactly how impactful he can be and everything that he's capable of.
08:06I mean, he can command that lane.
08:08You've got a guy like Shaden Sharp.
08:09He's excellent on the offensive end.
08:11You run into Chet, you can't even get the shot up to the rim.
08:14And then, as you said, you're that trail three on the other end.
08:18You called him a three?
08:20He's a trail big.
08:21You're going to say big.
08:22With the trail three.
08:24Oh, the trail three.
08:25I got this in the hurt because I'm going to say.
08:27Oh, no.
08:27We're going to get on the flight tomorrow.
08:29I'm going to tell him that you called him a three.
08:31All right, my bad.
08:32Okay.
08:33He can play that position, too.
08:36He's got versatility.
08:37This is his position is basketball.
08:40And the Thunder have been able to do that so well, folks.
08:42There's SGA.
08:44First shot.
08:45That is a beauty.
08:47And he's had so many on this season.
08:49He was excellent the other night in that win against the Atlanta Hawks.
08:53And the footwork is just outstanding.
08:57He can pull it from anywhere on the floor.
09:03And put a pure shot up as Avdia hit the deck.
09:06Long rebound.
09:07Karam's right to Lou Dort.
09:08Good job by Lou.
09:10Chessing him.
09:11Being very physical.
09:13Dort off the catch.
09:15Second three, no good.
09:19Avdia is one of those guys who likes to drive.
09:22He is more committed to driving than he is.
09:25Being able to take shots.
09:27That's a tough shot that time by Shea and Sharp as Shea was all over it.
09:33Another good contest.
09:35Another part of this Shea's game that doesn't get enough recognition.
09:39As he was able to chisel his way through the defense.
09:41It is Kaysen Wallace who had to look at three.
09:43No good.
09:44As Kamara will push.
09:46Shea initiated that excellent ball movement by the Thunder.
09:50He is so selfless and giving up the basketball.
09:55Trusting his teammates.
09:57Klinging inside.
09:58We got contact in there.
10:00It's Longren.
10:00Drawing the offensive foul.
10:02It's going the other way.
10:03A couple of big bodies splattering on the deck.
10:06How about that?
10:07You think this guy is going to take the shot block?
10:10That's what he does.
10:11And every now and then he shows you something.
10:13It's just beautiful.
10:14It's just been a great month of December for Chet on plays like that.
10:21Just making the last second decision to take a charge rather than try to block the shot.
10:25Already seen him patrol the lane.
10:28Nice pass SGA.
10:29Got it inside.
10:30And Holger, even with Klingon there, still able to flick it up and in.
10:34You got your top player just always looking for his teammates and trusting in his teammates.
10:39Good things happen.
10:42Good start offensively here.
10:44Throw KC.
10:45Obvio.
10:46He got swatted initially by Holmgren.
10:48Second effort by Klingon on the offensive rebound.
10:50No good.
10:51And Chet Holmgren right now is commanding the key.
10:55Look at this little wraparound.
10:57Man, look at that.
10:58In traffic.
10:59And still a little beat left on that bone by Chet.
11:01He had to put the ball on the floor, go on the other side,
11:03avoid the big shot blocking presence of Klingon.
11:07That should be an offensive foul.
11:09And it is.
11:11We got Citi Sissoko with a moving screen.
11:13Dort took the contact.
11:15He got two of the best in the NBA at drawing fouls like that.
11:19And Dort and Tamani Kamara.
11:22That's why he was a first team all-defensive specialist.
11:26He knows how to navigate through those screens.
11:28Dort again, an open look.
11:33That guy no good.
11:34Holmgren.
11:37Couldn't tap it over to a teammate.
11:40That's Wallace who tries to keep sharp in front.
11:42Sharp, a little bounce off of.
11:44Klingon the offensive rebound.
11:45And he's going to go to the free throw line.
11:47And that's what he does.
11:49Averaging over four offensive rebounds a game, which is number one in the NBA.
11:53He's such a big body, too.
11:55He knows how to use it very well.
11:56Just plants himself right in front of the rim.
11:59That's where most of those shots come off.
12:02And he's got that advantage like Chet with the size and the length
12:05to be able to flat-footed rebound a basketball.
12:08Let's take a look.
12:11Tonight's Paris Devon injury report.
12:14And you mentioned Jeremy Grant out for Portland.
12:18Drew Holiday.
12:19He's only played 12 games this year.
12:21Henderson, Lillard.
12:22Expect him to be out all season.
12:25His heart and style remains out for OKC.
12:27As Tiago Splitter, 40 years old, but he turns 41 tomorrow.
12:31Right, his birthday is on New Year's Day.
12:34He's done a good job, too, of getting this team ready.
12:36He's done a good job for the Trail Blazers.
12:47So four minutes got by here in the first quarter.
12:52As Abdiah, you mentioned how he likes to drive.
12:56He's the number one driver in the NBA.
12:59Kamara, 4-3 from the outside, and that one rattles in.
13:02Kamara, 34% from deep.
13:09As J-Duff navigating, fading away right there.
13:11Free throw line.
13:12Man, he makes that look easy.
13:15And it's a thing of beauty.
13:16He just did a good job with that Doppler radar.
13:18Just struck by where the traffic was.
13:20He just navigated away from it.
13:25Abdiah.
13:26And it might have been picked off by Lou Dort.
13:312-1-2.
13:32Dort dumps it off.
13:33Holmgren!
13:34This might go the other way.
13:37And it is.
13:39And Tamani Kamara, as we said, one of the best in the NBA at drawing offensive fouls.
13:45Yeah.
13:46Take a look at this.
13:47He's actually going to round him on that play.
13:49Got that leg around him.
13:50Fishers didn't quite see it that way.
13:52Take a look at that.
13:53Look at that.
13:54Yes.
13:55That lead foot is around him.
13:57Generally, that's a no call.
14:01I'm wearing black and white, but I'm not wearing the stripes tonight, so.
14:04You don't got to whistle.
14:09There's a drive and a dish.
14:11And Klingon affected again.
14:12Holmgren.
14:13My goodness.
14:15He's doing a little bit of everything in the lane.
14:18Shea.
14:19On the second.
14:20Oh, that is pretty.
14:22He rips the cards from deep.
14:25We talked about those fast break points as one of the keys for the Thunder.
14:29Getting down the floor quickly.
14:31You saw a chain hit a transition three.
14:33Shea bringing the ball up the court and just calling his own number.
14:37There's a little bit of defense to offense.
14:38Boy, he won't see Klingon get his shot blocked at point-blank distance from the rim.
14:43But you'll see a lot of this tonight, folks, as Shea knocks down the trifecta.
14:45Yeah, it's cool.
14:52It's great.
14:53There's always a great, you know, vibe in the building when we play on New Year's.
14:56The fans are always great.
14:58The guys, I think, enjoy the game.
14:59And so we just get a great, you know, get the wind to our back, you know, when we play here on this night.
15:05And so hopefully we match the energy of the crowd and give them a reason to be into the game, as we usually try to do.
15:11And we'll see how it goes.
15:14And that was Leonard.
15:14Here comes Mark Dagnol in tonight's OU Health Coach's Corner.
15:17And he was mentioning energy.
15:19And so far, Michael, over the first five minutes, 11 seconds, there's been good energy from the Thunder.
15:24Keep in mind, too, this is a third game in four nights.
15:27So to show that kind of energy at the start is always a good set.
15:31And it's showing up on the scoreboard.
15:33That's going to be a deflection for the Thunder.
15:34They've been very good.
15:35There's nobody better at getting those deflections than the Thunder.
15:39Just forcing them to reset their shot, their offense on a shorter shot clock.
15:4413 seconds.
15:47Kaysen Wallis right up on Love.
15:49Love on the step-back shot.
15:51And it almost banked in.
15:53There is Klingon using his size.
15:55But Holgerin standing his ground on top.
15:58Klingon with the spin move and the jam.
16:04Klingon is a big bodyguard.
16:05He's a true seven-footer, and he's got some width.
16:09He's got size.
16:11He knows how to plan himself right there in front of that ground.
16:17Thornton had a look from three on the outside.
16:22As Murray has checked in, that'll be a foul on J-Dub.
16:25Easy call for the official far sideline.
16:28Leon Wood makes the call.
16:36This Portland team, Michael, how do you keep a guy like Denny Octia at the lane when he's so committed to driving?
16:45Well, I mean, it takes everybody to do that.
16:48And you see, once again, he's trying to get in that lane.
16:50He's successful at all times.
16:52It just doesn't take one guy, because you've got to realize he's got screens.
16:55I mean, people have said one, two screens to free him up.
17:02Thornton from the corner.
17:04Let's it fly.
17:05That's it.
17:06He buries it.
17:07This looks like the defense had any interest in getting up on him.
17:12And so, Doort able to knock it down.
17:14Kling it from the outside.
17:15Comes right back with a three of his own.
17:17And the big fella, not bad from three on the season.
17:22Certainly got a good look at Trump.
17:25That's a big plus for the Cowboys.
17:28They've got two big men that are taking threes.
17:30They're trying to get up there on the offensive glass, but too much size by Arthia.
17:38He's going to get back defensively.
17:41The drive by Murray.
17:42Jalen Williams, great job staying in tall.
17:44Who's at last touch by Portland?
17:45Out of bounds.
17:48Once again, the defense just protecting that painted area.
17:51It's going to be something the Thunder will have to do here on this New Year's Eve.
17:55The trailblazers do two of two things.
17:58They're either going to take the three or get in the paint.
18:00Don't take a whole lot of mid-range.
18:02So, you've got to pick your poison with them.
18:04Deny the paint.
18:05And close out on shooters when you can.
18:08Just to back up your point, Michael, 93% of the field goal attempts are either threes or in the paint.
18:15That is most in the NBA.
18:17Carlson, excellent look from downtown.
18:19Trying to tap it over to Wallace.
18:21Couldn't do it.
18:21Here is some speed.
18:22There's a putt away from behind.
18:24Nicely done.
18:25And Jason Billbel says it's going to be Blazer's ball.
18:28Look at the hustle, getting back, sprinting.
18:34And Lovey, he had some speed.
18:37How about that?
18:38Just busting up that fast break was Kaysen Wallace.
18:41Just to bust that ball.
18:41We talked about deflection.
18:43These are deflections now.
18:44You're forcing the Blazers to reset their offense.
18:48As Adyon lets it go from deep.
18:50There's a three.
18:50And what a season he is having offensively, averaging over 25 points per game.
18:59Carlson again.
19:00And a trail of three for the five.
19:05I'll make sure he knows that on the plate tomorrow to San Francisco.
19:08But Cleo is hanging in the paint.
19:10He's a drop-back coverage guy.
19:11She can't make a three already.
19:13And he will go to the free-throw line.
19:25There were options there for Caruso.
19:28And he's a little upset with himself.
19:30He thought he should have kept it himself.
19:33Check out the action here.
19:34Carlson just in the ballgame, sets a screen, and then keeps his distance from Shea.
19:38Spacing, and he spots up.
19:41And Shea already knows what this guy is going to do.
19:43And he passes it back to him.
19:45And he knocks down the three.
19:47That's not really a set piece.
19:49That's just a read right there to kind of get a guy open.
19:52Like Shea, just to get the pressure off him when he brings the ball up the floor.
19:55You brought up an interesting point about how Portland is playing.
19:58Clingens, he wants to stay below the free-throw line.
20:01He's not coming out to the perimeter.
20:02No, absolutely.
20:03You saw Lou Dort make the three in the corner a moment ago.
20:05That was Clingens.
20:06He was supposed to get out there to him.
20:07He took the shot, knocked it down.
20:09And the same thing that happened with Carlson.
20:13One of the reasons why the Thunder, 12 out of the first 15 field goal attempts,
20:19have been from behind the arc.
20:21Wiggins, two for two at the free-throw line.
20:23Robert Williams, the third, is in the third game for the Blazers.
20:27Not so much of a three-point throw, but a terrific rebounder.
20:32Very athletic and around the rim as Obdiah just kind of put it up there.
20:36And he's still got some bounce, does Williams, who came over from the Boston Celtics.
20:41That's his game.
20:44You know, he's a riser, got good hands around the basket.
20:48Shea getting to his spot just below the free-throw line.
20:51He's got another two.
20:53You just can't speed him up and you can't slow him down.
20:55He's going to get to those spots.
20:57As Carlson, able to poke it away, hits it ahead to SGA, waiting for his teammates outside.
21:04And it's Caruso, it's going to be too strong.
21:06Carlson, an offensive rebound.
21:07He's got some space inside.
21:09Murray cuts the rim and puts it up and in.
21:11Yeah, sometimes your teammates just say, look, you can take that shot.
21:15It's okay.
21:20Oh, I love it, man.
21:22Teammates.
21:23As Murray across the baseline.
21:28Carlson, he was looking to pass it out to the perimeter, but he realized that he was told that everybody.
21:35He realized he was in the paint, tallest guy.
21:37How about this Shea, once again, just spearheading the offense for the front row?
21:42This is what made this guy so unique.
21:44He's a setup guy, he's a first-shot guy, and he's a third-option guy if you need him.
21:50He can do it all.
21:52You just don't see that in star players that have so many dimensions to their game.
21:57And that's what makes him so special, folks.
22:00It's so easy to just key in on the scoring and all the loud nights.
22:04But the defense, having a career year in assists.
22:07Obdiel, nice strip.
22:09Oh, Caruso was there.
22:10That was Shea on the runoff.
22:12Can he win the race?
22:13Yes, he can with the left hand and the finish.
22:16And it comes off a great defensive play by Caruso.
22:19That poke away that came in the backcourt, that was by Shea.
22:23That eventually a steal by Caruso.
22:26Oh, look at this.
22:27Come on, man.
22:27It's a little insane.
22:30It's A.J. Mitchell.
22:33The Thunder getting their defense involved here in the first quarter.
22:38Extra pressure forcing those turnovers and capitalizing on the other end.
22:43Everybody getting involved.
22:47Caruso, SGA, A.J. Mitchell.
22:51That's where the Thunder at the best.
22:52Center on this New Year's Eve, the Thunder with an early lead here over the Portland Trailblazers in the first quarter.
22:59And Alex Caruso has checked into the game for Oklahoma City with instant impact, as he always does in his early minutes.
23:05And Alex has often talked about the benefits that can come with being in the second unit in the NBA.
23:10He said that it can be a valuable tool to come off the bench as long as you're paying attention.
23:14And we saw that value in OKC's last game against Atlanta, where A.J. checked in and finished with a season-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and two steals.
23:24And Alex told us that he's really built up his attention to detail over the course of his career in the NBA.
23:29And that's really given him a strong advantage out there on the court to be able to come in and make an instant impact.
23:34All right.
23:35Thank you, Paris.
23:35And I love listening to Alex Caruso, Mike, because, you know, he's a thinker out there as much as anything.
23:41And one of the reasons why he was able to build his career up to this point.
23:45He's such a high-IQ player on both ends of the floor, doing the right thing, making the right play.
23:51And he's paying attention when he's on the bench, whether he's got to come in with that second unit and provide energy or pick up where the Stars left off.
23:59Well, his defense is surgical.
24:02I don't know about this ball move by the Thunder as it continues to get open shots.
24:07You know, something we were talking about this a couple of broadcasts ago.
24:11You know, when the Thunder, you know, some guys play defense with a hammer, some guys play defense with a screwdriver.
24:16Alex Caruso, he plays with a screwdriver.
24:18He just takes things apart.
24:19He's just waiting right there.
24:20You know, like Bob DeGolbert.
24:21You don't know about Bob DeGolbert, but I thought you made a little bit more of your time.
24:25But he just takes things apart.
24:26He's going to be surgical at times.
24:29Nice play.
24:30How about Jim Mitchell?
24:32Boy, with a defender on him, just able to kind of absorb that contact and then still finish off the glass.
24:40Love.
24:42Kick out to Sissoko.
24:43Got right back in the corner.
24:45That's a contested three as the threes are going down here early for Portland.
24:53Thunder know all about that.
24:55And there is seven seconds between shot and game.
25:20That's Caruso now trying to stay with Shane and Sharp.
25:27Scoreless here in the first quarter.
25:29Look at Caruso.
25:30Go with his feet.
25:31What a tough shot that is by Sharp.
25:33Really hard to make.
25:34Oh, my goodness.
25:35He was all over the head like a cheap suit.
25:38And Shane comes back.
25:39And Shane comes back.
25:40Fire and an even to Carter's in for the easy goal.
25:43It's going to be goals.
25:46And not that time.
25:48Unlike Nikhil Alexander-Walker on Monday night.
25:52The lefty flick from half court.
25:54That time it planks off the backboard.
25:56And a 38-point first quarter for the Thunder.
25:59Rocks shoot 62%.
26:01Just a great start for the first 12 minutes here on New Year's Eve.
26:06Folks, glad to have you with us.
26:07We've got 36 more minutes to this.
26:09And 26 here inside Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City.
26:19Glad to have you with us on FanDuel Sports Network.
26:22Your key to the game coming in, Michael,
26:24was those fast break points and clearly an advantage
26:27for the Thunder in that first quarter.
26:28And he sped the game up and kept the speed up there, too.
26:31Would not allow Portland to relinquish
26:34any kind of transition opportunities.
26:36And Isaiah Joe, fresh into the game,
26:40wastes no time to bury that three.
26:45Pants, that was quick.
26:46That's also been a good thing for the Thunder here.
26:49Just that ball movement.
26:50We talked about that one of the keys, the passing game.
26:52They've done a great job.
26:54Already with 10 assists.
26:5710 assists on 16 main field throws.
27:00Pretty efficient.
27:03How about the Thunder shooting?
27:04It's 64% early on.
27:07And they're just taking what the defense has given them.
27:09If Portland's going to sack back the way
27:11that it has defensively,
27:13the Thunder will take those open threes all night long.
27:15Yeah, that's absolutely.
27:18And, oh, what a recovery by Holmgren.
27:21And they're going to say it's a goaltend.
27:26And Chet already with some magnificent defensive plays.
27:30That's a good call.
27:34As it was over the front of the cylinder.
27:37So Sissoko's going to get the credit for the two points there.
27:40You know what I like?
27:42That he challenged it, man.
27:44That's some good stuff.
27:45You know, I'm talking about that's the right stuff, folks.
27:48And that guy is protecting the house.
27:50Cat Rich, weak side rebound, Holmgren.
27:54Trying to sneak it over to J-Dub.
27:56Now Cat Rich in the middle of the lane.
27:58And a shot of the player.
27:59And Holmgren puts it down hard.
28:02How about Chet once again getting the offensive rebound
28:04and into becoming the recipient of that lob.
28:07I feel like every single possession here, Michael,
28:11we're calling out Chet's name both defensively and offensively.
28:15Yeah.
28:16This is some of the stuff he's been doing, folks.
28:20From that first quarter, you just got to throw it up there, man.
28:23He's got that great length.
28:24And when we talk about the albatross of arms and legs he has,
28:29and he's so well balanced, too.
28:31And it's his tenth dunk over the last three games
28:36as Shaden Sharp finally gets his first points.
28:39He started out 0 for 6.
28:42Her defense doing a great job of making things difficult.
28:46That's Holmgren.
28:47Nice pass underneath.
28:48Kenrich Williams using the rim
28:50to get at the shot block ability of flinging.
28:53That's just a nice little pocket pass,
28:54but you keep talking about Chet once again.
28:57He was the one that created that assist.
28:59Oh, another steal.
29:00Oh, J-Dub's got it on the move.
29:03Pushing it up the floor.
29:04Had it knocked away initially.
29:06Holmgren faces up, and not going to get the bounce.
29:12But so far here, 10 different Thunder players have scored.
29:16That is a really tough finish by Sharp.
29:19He had to earn that for two.
29:20Chet made him earn the two.
29:22Wapped him up in the air, stayed vertical.
29:25Surely, Chaden Sharp showing his athleticism.
29:27Mitchell's going to give it up.
29:31Holmgren, wide open.
29:32And Cleveland just gave him way too much space.
29:34That is a layup line jumper for Chet Holmgren.
29:38Yeah, yeah, that's a drop-back coverage.
29:40And how about the pressure once again,
29:43this time by A.J. Mitchell on the inbound pass
29:46to get the deflection off of the Portland Thunder basketball.
29:51Didn't he do that on Monday, too?
29:52He had a great one on Monday.
29:54And this is a great one here, too.
29:55And Sharp just didn't expect him to get his hands in there.
30:00And outside, John!
30:01Just showing his range from the outside.
30:04Nails another one from deep.
30:05And look at the pressure now by the Thunder.
30:09Almost 90 feet of pressure.
30:14The guards just hate that.
30:18And Sharp can't respond with a three of his own.
30:20And it's Holmgren.
30:24Mitchell, get it in.
30:27Chet is going to get fouled by Klingon
30:30and go to the free-throw line.
30:32He's got an opportunity to get into double digits.
30:35We're talking about Chet.
30:37I'm starting to think maybe there's two Chets out there, man,
30:39because every time there's something happening on the defensive end,
30:41we're talking about this guy.
30:42And even on the offensive end, he's either dropping assists,
30:44catching the lob, knocked the guard at three.
30:46Now he's got three throws.
30:48Man, what a first half of basketball he's had
30:49in these first 15 minutes.

31:17Some of the Thunder have done a great job of with key personnel missing.
31:23You know, that next-man mentality.
31:25How about this?
31:25The bench already stepping up with 24 points here, folks.
31:30He's got a little bounce in the Section 329
31:32and the number of different points.
31:34Different scores.
31:36It was just early here in the second quarter.
31:38Tough drive, and no good by Rupair.
31:43Once again, Joe Ucic had a change-up there shot.
31:49Chit it up.
31:51Had a look from three, no good.
31:54Adia's on the floor.
31:56I don't want to keep him off the free-throw line.
32:01Switch now.
32:01Adia going to work.
32:06Love, back outside, an open look.
32:09It is Sissoko, and no good from three.
32:12At some point, the Blazers, they're going to cool off.
32:14They've started six out of seven from deep.
32:17Kenrich, too much speed on the blow-by.
32:19Got all the way to the cuff.
32:20Too strong on the attempt.
32:22You love that quick hop.
32:23That's just a Thunderer showing right now with the pace.
32:26And that's going to be a foul on A.J. Mitchell.
32:30Just a little swing-through from Adia.
32:35And so A.J. Mitchell picks up his first.
32:41Pace has been lightning for the Thunder.
32:44Keep in mind, folks, three games and four nights here.
32:47Lancey had a little heavier on that third night.
32:50Thunderer not showing any kind of heaviness.
32:53If anything, they've kept this pace pretty fast.

33:19Are you ready to turn the calendar to 2026?
33:22No, not yet.
33:24Not yet?
33:2425 has been great, man.
33:25Don't get me started,
33:26because I got a lot of your list of things
33:28that I've been loving about 25.
33:29But I know we've got to do it after tonight.
33:32I know we've got to flip the calendars, but...
33:34Oh, nice.
33:36And J-Dub's going to get the and-one and a chance
33:40for an old-fashioned three-point play,
33:43as that was a blur.
33:44Yeah, Murray got there late, almost took him out.
33:47J-Dub did a good job of just keeping his balance.
33:49Watch Murray just get there late,
33:50and he's kind of undercutting.
33:51He just couldn't get out of his way, I guess.
33:57You talk about the blow-by by J-Dub.
33:58He got there so fast that weak-side just could not get there.
34:01He was in the air laying the ball up
34:03before the weak-side man and Murray got there,
34:06to your point about the blow-by.
34:10And maybe Murray thought that somehow
34:12he was going to be able to affect that shot by J-Dub.
34:15But J-Dub, he's used to a lot more congestion in there
34:19than what he saw.
34:22Because I think that Jason Goble here
34:24is trying to get something right with the clock.
34:27And explaining it to Mark Dagnall.
34:35Hey, hey, Flores.
34:36Hey, we got to talk good on yourself.
34:37Hey.
34:41You know, we're asking me about 20-25,
34:43and I'm just waiting to see him.
34:44Not that the season of Thunder had last year.
34:48Well, maybe it was the season of Thunder had last year.
34:50That was more of a 25-2.
34:51But that parade, man, I was in that parade downtown.
34:54It was so much fun.
34:55And then, of course, you know, the summer,
34:57and then getting to a great start with the Thunder had
34:59a 16-game winning streak already in this season.
35:03Started to get the season 8-0.
35:06And as J-Dub will finish the end-1.
35:09You don't get those kind of bounces off the rim.
35:12I think there's...
35:13No, that's what shooters get.
35:15I'm a rebounder by nature.
35:19Oh, that's a nice shot there by Love.
35:21Stopping on the dime.
35:22Pulling up outside the free-throw line.
35:26As Barucho quickly enter the frontcourt.
35:27Well, it has been a banner year in 2025 for this Thunder team.
35:36Try to keep it going in 2026.
35:38That is a hard drive.
35:40And it's at about seven seconds on the timer.
35:44That's the hard part about the NBA, Michael.
35:462025 in the rearview mirror.
35:48About to be.
35:49And you've got to keep it going into the next year.
35:53Let's hear it.
35:54Oh, it's nice to see all the fans here once again on the...
35:57New Year's Eve to start their festivities.
36:00This kid, he's a sophomore, but I'll tell you one thing.
36:06He doesn't play like it.
36:07He knows how to get to the basket.
36:10Get your shot on a short shot clock.
36:13End of the shot clock guy.
36:15Ball handler.
36:16Setup guy.
36:16He does a little good job of really putting a lot of pressure on the defense.
36:21And for more on A.J., let's go over to Nick.
36:23Well, guys, as a second-year player, A.J. Mitchell scoring in double figures over 80% of his games this season.
36:31It's just remarkable what this guy has been able to do.
36:34And Mark Degnold said the physical development, the way that he invested in his body during the time that he was out last year with a toe injury,
36:41has been paying massive dividends this year.
36:43This team knew that he was an impactful player, all the way dating back to training camp of last year.
36:48But what A.J. has been able to do with his body has made him a high-level defender, an underrated defender on this team,
36:54as you see him at the point of attack here on Caleb Love.
36:57Being able to come up with another stop.
36:59And he's doing it on the offensive end, too, of course.
37:01Just did a great job of affecting that drive, affecting the shot, didn't commit the foul.
37:08That's going to be a turnover on Kenridge Williams.
37:10But A.J. Mitchell, Michael, and Mark Degnold talks about his versatility on the defensive end
37:15and what it allows the Thunder to do.
37:17Because he's never overmatched, you can put him on different guys.
37:21And because of the physicality that Gallo was talking about,
37:24he can play with a lot of different guards.
37:27You just saw a couple times where he bumped Love.
37:29You don't want any straight-line drives.
37:32You just got to bump that guy.
37:36There's another good defensive lead by Alex Caruso on Omdia, who missed the drive.
37:42They forced the miss.
37:44But an offensive rebound that results in a foul.
37:46Timeout on the floor.
37:48Yeah, A.J.
37:49That's a good fit, boy.
37:50That's a good fit.
37:51Look at you, boys.
37:52All right.
37:53That's a good fit, boys.
37:55That's it.
37:59How do you keep shooting, bro?
37:59One from Chiefs!
38:01Good.
38:01Happy New Year, man.
38:03First!
38:04He won!
38:07Mike, take it back.
38:07Get back.
38:08Go, go!
38:11Well, great to hear Kenridge Williams, an opportunity to have him miked up.
38:16So we thank him and just can't get enough of that, Mike, and some of those comments, some
38:21of the conversations, the encouragement.
38:23We know how important Kenridge Williams is to this Thunder team.
38:26Just love hearing that stuff.
38:28Well, he's a quarterback.
38:29And, you know, just hearing, you know, calling out signals, good job, you know, box out, things
38:36like that.
38:37And, you know, he's one of the veterans on the team.
38:41I want to know, where is the mic?
38:43I mean, I got a mic all up in my mouth all, you know, running in front of me all.
38:47I mean, technology today.
38:49I mean, it's like, where is it?
38:50But you can hear him so clearly giving out instruction, certainly on that and won by AJ Mitchell.
38:56I just want to hear more of that.
38:58I love that.
38:59You got to ask him, where's that thing hiding?
39:04They can play with it.
39:05You can broadcast with it, right?
39:07That's great.
39:07All right, AJ Mitchell into all kinds of traffic inside.
39:13And he's going to get fouled.
39:15He got hammered.
39:16He gets hammered a lot.
39:18When he goes to the basket, and it's nice to see him get calls.
39:22Because, man, he goes to the floor.
39:24And when he goes to the floor, it's hard.
39:25And a lot of times, you know, he's just glad he gets up.
39:31He's a tough kid.
39:32I'll tell you what, he played four years at UC Santa Barbara.
39:37The name of his home gym.
39:39Are you ready for this?
39:39It's just perfect, folks, to end the 25 season tonight to say this.
39:44In college, right?
39:45In college.
39:45Yeah, okay.
39:46Okay, UC Santa Barbara, Gauchos.
39:48The Thunders.
39:50How cool is that?
39:52And he was drafted by the Thunders.
39:53Come on.
39:55The Thunderdome.
39:56You can't make that up.
39:59Michael Jordan used to have his summer camps out there in Isla Vista.
40:03One of the great places if you ever have a chance to go visit.
40:05It is beautiful out there.
40:07It's like a vacation.
40:09It's like going to college on vacation, Mike.
40:11I'm telling you.
40:11It's beautiful.
40:12It's beautiful.
40:13Coastal town of Santa Barbara.
40:1916-point Thunder lead.
40:20Caruso has been playing great defense on Obdia.
40:25On that time, Obdia, just a better shot with the long two.
40:28But if you're Caruso on a play like that, you're just going to tip your cap.
40:31Absolutely.
40:32He's having a terrific season.
40:35It's a tough shot that he made.
40:37He's made a couple of tough shots like that.
40:39Just shaking off the defender.
40:50Took a couple of hits.
40:52They made him iron that bucket just like Obdia had to earn his last bucket against Caruso.
40:56J-Dub just showing that all-around game since he has come back.
41:02Obdia is going to get the and one.
41:04And that time, just a little bit of contact from Caruso.
41:08And you can see the body of Obdia is really developed.
41:11Coming from Israel.
41:14That's that J-Dub spot.
41:16When he gets below the elbow, he is so tough to stop.
41:19J-Dub, that is.
41:20They're doing a good job.
41:23Last time he's two teams met in Portland.
41:27He took 23 free throws.
41:31That's certainly one of the challenges for the Thunder.
41:33He's averaged 14 free throws in the three contests that the Thunder have played the Blazers
41:38over the course of the season.
41:40But the game here inside Paco Center, Michael, he had just three.
41:46J-Dub off the catch.
41:47Fires.
41:48No good.
41:50Fires.
41:53Thunder have done a good job of limiting Shaden Sharp.
41:57Russo, looking at a move his feet, forced to pass.
42:01Obdia, off balance, not going to get it, but the tip in.
42:04Williams, just so much balance underneath the basket for those rebounds.
42:08And the Thunder did such a good job to defensibly finish it on top.
42:12Shot by Obdia.
42:13Isaiah Joe, way behind the three-point line.
42:20Go, go, go.
42:21Still have a lot of confidence there.
42:23He's four feet behind the tape.
42:25He's going to make it.
42:26That three is short out of the hands of Tabara.
42:28He's tied up with his head up.
42:33They're going to make a play.
42:34Got Mark screened for Caruso.
42:36And then, that's bucket picked.
42:37Sharp on the move the other way.
42:40Do it was there.
42:41Hit for him.
42:41And you get contact.
42:44But it's just going to be the layup.
42:46And Mark Dagnall is going to call the timeout.
42:51Blazers put a little dent into what was a 16th.
42:54And Denver Nuggets got a late Christmas present with good news.
42:58Even though Nicola Jokic is going to be out at least four weeks with that hyper-extended knee,
43:02there were fears it could have been a lot worse.
43:04But Jokic, not a season-ender.
43:06Josh Giddey is going to miss two to three weeks with the Chicago Bulls,
43:09a hamstring injury.
43:11And some games already done earlier today on New Year's Eve,
43:14for the matinee in Charlotte.
43:16Golden State was a winner.
43:17Atlanta took down the Minnesota Timberwolves in Atlanta.
43:21Orlando victorious and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
43:25Victory over the Phoenix Suns.
43:27One of the best parts about New Year's, Michael,
43:30everybody seems to get into the festive spirit.
43:32Yeah, everybody's happy.
43:34It's hard to find someone that's not happy on a night like tonight, folks.
43:39Well, there's a deflection.
43:40Come out of the timeout.
43:42And Sharp not to be denied at the rim with authority.
43:48As SGA has come back into the game,
43:50Marita Wiggins has come back into the game for OKC.
43:54SGA got a huge break at the top of this quarter.
43:57Oh, hell, hell.
43:58The bench has, due to the bench,
43:59who scored 28 points so far.
44:01Wallace off the deck, pulls up, no good on the three.
44:07That's going to Kamara.
44:11That's the ball in his hands for the Blazers.
44:13Developing offensive player, and he's going to get fouled.
44:17And go to the free throw line.
44:19He's done a good job of keeping the Blazers off the line in this first half.
44:26Kamara will get his first attempts.
44:30The Blazers, a little bit of a run here.
44:32Go!
44:33She's two.
44:35And a quick word from your Oklahoma Ford dealers.
44:45Visit your local Oklahoma Ford dealer today.
44:49Ford is built for Oklahoma.
44:51No, no, pardon, I got to get this out of the way.
44:53I've been waiting for this day, New Year's Eve,
44:56because from Christmas to now, it's like a week.
45:00Like, there's a big buildup to Christmas, OK?
45:02We were excited about Christmas, no doubt about it.
45:05Best time of the year.
45:06But from Christmas to now, it's like takes forever.
45:11Is this your first time going through it?
45:13No.
45:14Man, it's like I've been waiting, like, for today.
45:17Like, the kids are home.
45:18What are the kids supposed to do from Christmas to now?
45:20They're on Christmas break.
45:22They're on Christmas break.
45:23I know all the parents are saying,
45:24we want them to go back to school.
45:27No, this is the time they get to be home.
45:29But they think they've been home for 23 days.
45:32Man, I can't believe you're hating off the time off here.
45:36This is the best time, especially when you're a kid.
45:38You don't have to go back to school yet.
45:40Wiggins, a little flat on that shot.
45:43And Holmgren had it taken away, snatched away by Love.
45:47After tomorrow, miss both free throws only on the rim.
45:49Now, I will say, it is kind of that gray area where,
45:53like, are people working?
45:54Yeah.
45:55I just, man, I'm just glad for today to happen.
45:59Pull-up shot no good.
46:01Nice tap out.
46:02As Dort was able to flick it out to Wiggins.
46:05In a seven-point game.
46:06That's what made Blue Dort so valuable.
46:09Oh, Wiggins getting the dribble alive and then gets hacked
46:13hard by Williams in the lane.
46:15And Wiggins going to go right back to the free throw line.
46:19That was a hammer time foul.
46:22That was.
46:23How about this?
46:24Shake that defender.
46:25Gets all the way to the rim.
46:28And there's that swipe down and hard five, as you mentioned,
46:33by Williams III.
46:36But I'm not a, you know, I'm not a downer on this time of the year,
46:41you know, between Christmas and now.
46:43I'm just saying, for me, I've just been waiting for something to
46:46happen.
46:47Because Christmas is such a great time and it's such a big day.
46:50And then all of a sudden, things just go flat.
46:53Till now.
46:54What do you mean?
46:55You got something to look forward to.
46:56You got New Year's.
46:57Yeah.
46:58Everybody's still, the Christmas lights are still up.
47:00Yeah, but it's a week later.
47:03Is what I'm saying.
47:04Santa hat's still okay to wear.
47:09Love.
47:10Oh, he got rejected at the rim.
47:11What a great defensive play.
47:13Holmgren, once again, right there, making his presence felt.
47:16SGA, tough fade away from behind the basket.
47:21And he shoots it right over Kamara.
47:23What a shot.
47:24I can tell you, he's got ice water in his bag
47:26and a much-needed bucket for the Thunder.
47:28He's got to starve off this run here.
47:30Just over two minutes remaining.
47:33Before halftime, Nick and Paris got you.
47:37Stick around.
47:38They'll break it down for you.
47:39Shane, listen to the steal.
47:41Thor came up with it.
47:42What does SGA do?
47:43Bounces off of Kamara.
47:44And then spikes it down.
47:46Tomara must have been trying to draw the offensive foul,
47:50but Shea, way too smart.
47:56Way too skilled and crafty.
48:00And Shea is up to 13 in the game.
48:02It's a Thunder lead.
48:03Back up the double digits.
48:04There's a deflection by Wiggins into the hands of Holmgren.
48:08It's just one of the ways that the Thunder are able to build the lead in the first quarter.
48:14And Shea is going to go to the line.
48:16The foul on Sharp.
48:18How about this once again, the defense quick hands of SGA.
48:22Showing you his defensive prowess.
48:24Kamara trying to take the charge.
48:26Shea does a spin.
48:28And just dunks the basketball.
48:30Yeah, that's what you call a smooth operator, folks.
48:33He has been, folks, you know, that's what he thinks, man, I think I've enjoyed this year.
48:36It's just this guy right here, the things he's been able to do, MVP, NBA Finals MVP, Western Conference Finals MVP.
48:46I mean, a leading scorer all in one season.
48:48We showed you that graphic.
48:49He's in an elite crowd with Michael Jordan.
48:53I think I saw Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
48:55I can't remember the other two.
48:56Shaq.
48:57Shaq, thank you.
48:58I mean, it's just been a pleasure to watch all season long, folks, as we wrap up 25 tonight.
49:06Shaden Sharp with the technical foul.
49:07The thing about that graphic, Michael, we mentioned this in the pregame show.
49:11About the only players to win the scoring title, regular season MVP, and the Finals MVP.
49:18Two of those guys were big men, and Kareem and Shaq.
49:22The other was Michael Jordan, who's the greatest to ever lace him up, and to join that category.
49:27He did it four times.
49:28He's just...
49:29Four times.
49:30Jordan.
49:31Jordan did.
49:32Right.
49:33Correct me if I'm wrong.
49:34No, that is 100% right, which makes it even more impressive, because it's just elusive territory.
49:39And we get to watch this guy every night, right here in Oklahoma City, folks.
49:43Let's end the last four!
49:49Now trying to check on the defensive end, and much like Michael Jordan, he was committed to playing defense, and so is SGA.
49:56Three-point shot, not short, trying to keep clinging off the offensive glass, and Holmgren does a great job.
50:05Hey, that's impressive.
50:06I mean, my goodness, folks.
50:08And when was the last time it happened with the Michael Jordan era?
50:12Or are we gonna put Shaq in there?
50:14That's right, he's a hit.
50:15He's a...
50:16He did in the 2000.
50:17Come on!
50:18Wiggins on the pass!
50:19Second of Biosley!
50:20Andre with the slam!
50:21This is a nice little push before halftime for the Thunder, after the Blazers had gotten
50:29within seven.
50:30Thunder pushed that lead back up to 16.
50:34Edgar!
50:35He!
50:36He!
50:37D!
50:38practice!
50:39Ad Dia, oh nice crossover, but Thork able to recover and then commits the foul!
50:41It looked like Thork for a moment there, after the nasty crossover from Ad Dia, was gonna be able
50:48to get back into position, when he commits the foul.
