The Quadrantids are the first meteor shower of 2026. They are one of the most intense, but shortest, meteor showers. After that, shooting stars won't return until the peak of the Lyrids in late April.

00:00The first meteor shower of 2026 is this weekend. The quadrancids are one of the most intense but
00:10also shortest meteor showers of the year, peaking for just a few hours after sunset on Saturday,
00:16January 3rd. But this year, a full moon will wash out most of the show. Expect fewer than
00:2010 meteors per hour, but it's still worth a look. Check the AccuWeather app for your local forecast
00:25and keep the moon out of view. Give your eyes about 15 minutes to adjust. And I'm saying this
00:30because the next meteor shower won't peak until late April.
