00:01Alright Suns fans, listen up, let's talk about a familiar face who's having a completely
00:05different experience this time around, Jordan Goodwin, the Phoenix scenery isn't new for
00:10him, he first came here in the Bradley Beal package before the 2023-24 season, but his
00:15second run, it's a whole new ballgame, just look at the numbers, the 6'3 guard is balling
00:19out with 8.9 points and 21.2 minutes over 29 games, with 2 starts, compare that to his
00:26first stint, just 5 points and 14 minutes and 40 games before he was shipped to the
00:30Brooklyn Nets, but stats only scratched the surface, on Tuesday, Goodwin told Arizona Sports
00:35Burns and Gambo that this jump is all about the free will given to him by the new coaching
00:40staff, including head coach Jordan Ott, he said, and I quote, the free will that the coaching
00:45staff gave me to go crash the glass is definitely different than anywhere else I was in the league,
00:51it did make a huge impact on my decision, like why I'm here, Simba, think about that,
00:55he was on a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, got waived in July, and the Suns picked
01:00him up four days later, now he's crashing the boards hard, he's grabbed at least 5 rebounds
01:05in 18 of his 29 games, supercharging Phoenix's second chance offense, in that recent win over
01:12the Washington Wizards, the Suns had 26 second chance points, Goodwin, he was responsible for
01:184 offensive boards and 7 total rebounds, he said, I've been feeling more pressure on the
01:24glass the last couple games, but I'm still going to go every time, and get this, he's
01:27been doing all this while wearing a face mask for a jaw sprain, the 27-year-old out of St.
01:32Louis is consistently giving us 20-plus minutes off the bench, his season plus-minus of plus
01:37and 58 is the 5th best on the team, look at the bench mob with him, Colin Gillespie, having
01:42a breakout year at plus 124, second-year pro Oso Ig-Hodaro, pausen pausen 86, and two-way player
01:51Isaiah Livers, pausen 61, this bench unit is a huge reason we're off to a 19-13 start, Goodwin sets
01:58the tone saying, before the game even starts, I call the bench in for a huddle, our job is to come in
02:03here, and change the pace of the game, and when we out there, man, it's our chance to go hoop, and get
02:10this, even though he's only in his fifth season, he's mentoring the rookies, especially Rasher
02:14Fleming, Goodwin calls himself, a big Rasher Fleming fan, saying, I'm in Rasher's ear all the
02:20time, every day, I just tell him every time he go out there, just make sure that they see you, go get a
02:26block, go get a rebound, these minutes aren't meaningless, it's paying off Fleming, the 6-foot-9
02:33forward selected number 31 overall in the 2025 NBA draft with that crazy 7-foot-5 wingspan,
02:40has played at least 10 minutes in his last 5 games with the big club, after developing in the G League,
02:46so Suns fans, here's my question for you, when you look at this team's depth and energy, how important
02:51is a guy like Jordan Goodwin, who brings hustle, defense, and now this confident leadership to
02:57making a real playoff run, is he the x-factor for our bench?
