43:41But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
43:47My parents were both junior hockey coaches.
43:50And they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
43:57Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:00Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
44:06I didn't have anybody else to help me.
44:11Had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
44:17St. Thomas filled it with hope.
44:20The hope of a new family.
44:23Things, things weren't always easy.
44:25You know, they never are for anybody.
44:27But, in hockey, I found what I was missing.
44:32First at my high school, then later at college, and now here, with the Admirals.
44:36And I never looked back.
44:40Because I never had to.
44:44The family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today.
44:48Hockey gave it to me.
44:52And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
44:55So, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight.
