43:35For those of you who've attended before, feel free to ignore my sob story and go straight to the bar.
43:42But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
43:45My parents were both junior hockey coaches, and they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
43:57Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:00Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas Scholarships existed.
44:04I didn't have anybody else to help me, had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
44:15St. Thomas filled it with hope, the hope of a new family, things, things, things weren't always easy.
44:25You know, they never are for anybody.
44:27But in hockey, I found what I was missing, first at my high school, then later at college, and now here with the Admirals.
44:36And I never looked back, and I never looked back, because I never had to.
44:41The family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today, hockey gave it to me.
44:53And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
44:57So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight, and for supporting this cause, because it's not just a scholarship, it's everything that comes with it.
