00:01Go!
00:05Perfect!
00:08For me and Dave, every day is a lot of moving parts.
00:12With five growing kids...
00:14No! Do not go in the house!
00:17All right, put a break on.
00:19Whoa!
00:21A working farm full of our beloved animals.
00:24Sometimes cows don't do what you want them to. It's the strangest thing.
00:27I think I have to go in and scoop some poop, too.
00:30A renovation business.
00:35And running two stores in our community of Northwest Arkansas.
00:38I think we did it.
00:40We definitely did it.
00:42We stay pretty busy.
00:44And sometimes a little stressed.
00:46God! Oh, my Lord, David!
00:49But when your job is helping your neighbors transform their lives...
00:53Oh, my God!
00:55By transforming the place they call home...
00:58They crushed me.
00:59Oh, my God! It's so pretty!
01:02Oh!
01:03It's not really work at all.
01:04Just another day in this crazy, beautiful life we call ours.
01:08Oh, my God! How did you do that?
01:10Oh, my God!
01:20Just tear it up.
01:24Can you grab that side?
01:25Yep, I got it.
01:27Whew!
01:29Well, that worked out good.
01:30It's gonna be an awesome demo.
01:31It's really nice having guys in all different areas.
01:35You see the progress happen a lot quicker.
01:37Today, we are starting demo at Debbie Neiman's house.
01:41We have had extensive conversations with Debbie.
01:43So far, she and her family have just used this as a lake house for visits,
01:46but she wants to make this her permanent residence.
01:49We wanted to get started right away.
01:50It's very dated and kind of dark and closed in, even though you have this incredible view of the lake.
02:01So we're demoing the spaces that we know need to be removed.
02:06This house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a living room and kitchen separated by a big fireplace.
02:12There's also a dining room and a connecting porch.
02:14We've already been given the go-ahead to demo all these walls out, to open up the space, and make way for a whole new floor plan.
02:22This is a project she has dreamt about and planned for for a long time.
02:25She and her husband had bought this house a couple years ago.
02:28They were going to renovate before moving in, and were just five weeks from starting the renovation together,
02:33and her husband unexpectedly passed away about a year ago.
02:37So the project was on hold for a while.
02:38But she feels like this is the time to really go forward with her and her husband's dreams.
02:45This will become the new kitchen.
02:47Does this wall stay?
02:49That wall's going.
02:50This whole cabinet section is going.
02:52The door behind us is going.
02:54Okay.
02:55The kitchen is relocated so that it maximizes the lake view.
02:58Can we see if we can get this countertop to pop off?
03:00Can I get the giblets?
03:08Yeah.
03:09Thanks for that.
03:10Nice.
03:12It's a big project.
03:14So the plan is to open as much up as we can.
03:19Look at that.
03:21Because Debbie, her son Gates, and his wife Robby are coming by today.
03:25So we can really kind of plan things out after it's at the shell stage.
03:29Let me get this knocked free and then we got it.
03:32Oh my word.
03:35So we are just updating, like refreshing, refreshing.
03:39But this is the main bedroom.
03:41Isn't it so weird that you would create a room where you walk through the closet to get to the bedroom?
03:46Yes, it's very weird.
03:48So I think we should move the entrance right here so you're coming off the living room.
03:53Okay.
03:54They will be here in, what, three hours now?
03:56Yeah, I think so.
03:57So we've got a lot of work to do until then.
03:58Hello.
03:59Wow.
04:00Hello.
04:01Wow.
04:02You guys, I love it.
04:03Annihilated.
04:04Inspired.
04:05So good to see you again.
04:06You too.
04:07Hi.
04:08Oh my gosh, look, a baby.
04:09Yay.
04:10Getting close.
04:11Oh my gosh, yeah.
04:12About a month away.
04:13Deb, look.
04:14The windows are down.
04:15That is incredible to see this whole section.
04:16I know.
04:17Isn't it so pretty?
04:18Oh wow.
04:19Gates had some of the best conversations with his dad out here.
04:20Aw.
04:21That's amazing.
04:22I love that.
04:23And I wouldn't have had that time if my parents didn't decide to buy this place two years ago.
04:26Right.
04:27Greg and I really wanted to move here from Plano, Texas because our son and daughter-in-law,
04:32Gates and Robbie, live up here in Bentonville.
04:33We wanted the house on the lake and our realtors called us to come and see the house.
04:34We walked in, called Gates and Robbie, and found out that they were the one that we had
04:39and they were the one that we had in the house.
04:40We had a lot of conversations with his dad out here.
04:41Aw.
04:42That's amazing.
04:43I love that.
04:44And I wouldn't have had that time if my parents didn't decide to buy this place two
04:45years ago.
04:46Right.
04:47Greg and I are not going to buy this house because our son and daughter-in-law, Gates
04:49and Robbie, live up here in Bentonville.
04:54We wanted the house on the lake, and our realtors called us to come and see the house.
04:59We walked in, called Gates and Robbie, and found out they were pregnant with their first
05:02child.
05:03So I looked at Greg and said, we're buying this.
05:08But the house hasn't been touched since the 70s.
05:11So it's run down.
05:14I really don't like the way it looks.
05:16Greg and I wanted to renovate and make it our forever home together.
05:21I just thought I had longer than I did, but he passed away last July.
05:26So everything came to a halt.
05:29But Robbie and Gates, they're everything to me.
05:32And I adore my grandchild.
05:35Katie's a blast.
05:36And soon to be two grandbabies.
05:38So I decided to go ahead and renovate.
05:41I just want everyone in the family to use it and enjoy time together.
05:45But not having Greg here, it's still pretty hard.
05:48But I'm really excited because this was our dream.
05:54I know we've had some conversations, but let's talk through what you guys are imagining for this room.
06:00Carpet gone.
06:01Carpet gone.
06:02Yes.
06:03You want wood flooring.
06:05I would love it throughout the house.
06:06Perfect.
06:07Perfect.
06:08I know you want an electric fireplace, right?
06:10I thought it would be safer with children.
06:12Yes.
06:13Well, and it's nice.
06:14It's just easy to flip a switch.
06:15Right.
06:16Turn it on and turn it off.
06:17That's what I want.
06:18This will basically be living in a hangout room.
06:21Right.
06:22And then you were concerned about this.
06:23Greg and I, we wanted to close in the porch because we felt it was a hazard for all the
06:28kids.
06:29Yeah.
06:30It's about a 30-foot drop.
06:31So I was thinking, make it dining.
06:33Dining.
06:34Yes.
06:35Which will be really cool.
06:36Because I know you like to bring everyone here for Thanksgiving dinner.
06:37Oh, everybody comes.
06:38Huge table.
06:39How many people?
06:40I think so.
06:41Well, last year we had 15.
06:43Okay.
06:44And now we're about to have 16.
06:46Oh, it's so exciting.
06:47So reworking the living room.
06:49We're going to have new flooring, hand lighting, electric fireplace.
06:52You have your dining room.
06:53We'll obviously have new glass that's safe.
06:55And then you also have the big table.
06:57That'll be perfect.
06:58We already cut this hole here for your door for your bedroom.
07:02Ooh.
07:03You will no longer have to walk through a closet to get to your bedroom.
07:05Yes.
07:06We're going to close the old door, so now you have a big walk-in closet.
07:11Nice.
07:12Yes.
07:13Okay, let's talk about your bathroom.
07:14So what would you like to see?
07:16I still want two sinks.
07:18Okay.
07:19And a tub, shower.
07:20Tub and shower.
07:21Any colors that you love for your room?
07:24I like, I like, oh, blues, greens, beige.
07:27Okay.
07:28So the bedroom.
07:29We're going to close this old slider up, change out the flooring, change out the lighting,
07:33all new windows, paint.
07:34We'll re-work your entire bathroom, replace everything.
07:38You'll have a shower, a tub, two sinks, and just a nice, beautiful updated space.
07:43That's wonderful.
07:44Let's go talk kitchen.
07:45Okay.
07:46That's very important.
07:47There was some debate on where to put the kitchen, but it really makes sense to have it
07:50here with the view.
07:51Yes.
07:52We're going to obviously maximize this with windows.
07:53Yes.
07:54This wall will scooch back so you can have a nice walk-in pantry.
07:58As you know, we estimated $300,000 for this whole renovation.
08:01But what do you envision for your dream kitchen?
08:04I like lower cabinets with windows.
08:07Oh, I love that.
08:08Oh, yeah.
08:09Especially here.
08:10I know.
08:11An island, I'm assuming.
08:12Oh, yeah.
08:13Definitely an island.
08:14Do you have any preference?
08:15Stained, painted, do you have a preference?
08:17Not really.
08:18Okay.
08:19I so trust y'all's creativity.
08:20I can't imagine not relying on y'all.
08:23Oh.
08:24Well, we're honored to do this, so thank you.
08:26Okay.
08:27So the kitchen will be all new windows.
08:29We're going to replace the flooring, consistent flooring throughout the house.
08:32All new cabinets, countertops, appliances, island, and obviously a big walk-in pantry.
08:38If we could also add like a little sign above the kitchen that says Dee Dee's camp for the grandkids.
08:43I love that.
08:44Like you do camp with the kids?
08:45Yes, or I will.
08:46They're a little young yet, but I did get a bracelet.
08:49Dee, I love that.
08:50Dee, I love that.
08:51So we need a place, since you're going to have all the kids, you need lots of snacks, too.
08:54So we're going to make sure there's snack storage.
08:56Ooh.
08:57Okay, so here we have pantry, which is going to be snack storage, small appliances, lots of extra stuff here.
09:03And I know we talked about giving you a nice laundry room, but you still have this space here.
09:07Right.
09:08In your dream world, having a little bit of extra space, how do you see that being used?
09:12It could be a game room.
09:13We do entertain.
09:14Okay.
09:15A lot.
09:16So I would love to have like a bar.
09:18Yeah.
09:19Okay.
09:20We got to talk about outside, too.
09:21Yeah, we haven't talked outside.
09:22Oh, yes.
09:23Let's go do that.
09:24Oh, also this door.
09:25What, um...
09:26Yeah, what are your thoughts on the door?
09:27It's a little dated.
09:28No.
09:29On the other side, the hardware doesn't really work.
09:30Got it.
09:31But you would write just a new door.
09:32Yes.
09:33All right.
09:34This is an interesting house.
09:35It's like, it's very unassuming from out here.
09:37You have no idea what's back there.
09:39I particularly don't like the outside.
09:42I would like it to be taller.
09:44And I don't mind brick, but I definitely don't like the color.
09:48I know.
09:49I was actually wondering if maybe we could do some sort of dormers or something.
09:51Like a dormer or something like that.
09:52Because it is such a flat room.
09:53Oh, that's a good idea.
09:54Yeah.
09:55What about stone?
09:56What do you think of stone?
09:57Oh, I love stone.
09:58I love stone.
09:59Oh, well then, yeah.
10:00That's kind of what I was thinking, is to make it kind of like a stone-looking cottage.
10:05I think it could work.
10:06So, instead of the brick, we'll add stone to the exterior.
10:09Update these windows.
10:10Update these shutters.
10:12We'll change out the lighting.
10:13Change out the front door.
10:14Add some dormers, so it looks like more of a modern cottage.
10:18That's greatness.
10:19I love about this place.
10:21Like, you came here and dreamed together to, you know, make this amazing space for your family.
10:25Yep.
10:26My dad was going to be boots on the ground, really managing the renovation himself.
10:30And I know that my dad is thrilled that we're working with you guys to finish the job.
10:34We'll try to do right by him.
10:35Yes.
10:36I know.
10:37Well, thank you for trusting us.
10:38I can promise you we will not be done by the time your baby is born, but we will hurry.
10:43We are on a time crunch because, at the moment, Debbie's going back and forth from here to Texas,
10:48and she just wants to be here next to the grandbabies.
10:50So we want to get her in as quickly as we possibly can.
10:53There's just a lot to do.
10:55We are touching every single aspect of this house.
10:59Anything we've got to do on the exterior, all these new windows, siding with trim is going to be a big challenge.
11:06Thanks, guys.
11:07Bye, guys.
11:08Also, we have to be very mindful of Greg's legacy because they had this dream and they were going to do this together.
11:15So we really have to figure out the different ways to honor that.
11:18Yeah.
11:19So this is where I think we do floor to ceiling.
11:39We just do lots of storage, built-in drawers, maybe on the bottom where you can put stuff.
11:46Okay.
11:47We are at Debbie Neiman's house today.
11:49We have got all the demo done, and now we're framing all of the walls back in.
11:54You know, Debbie talked about Camp Dee Dee, and we talked about snacks.
11:57Of course, Grandma needs to have snacks.
12:00What if, this is weird, but what if we got a vending machine?
12:04Oh, I love that idea.
12:05Isn't that cool?
12:06How much would our kids love a vending machine?
12:07That's what I'm saying.
12:08I'm going to start looking.
12:09Okay, well, I do want to talk about the front door, though.
12:11I mean, first of all, this one's super dated.
12:14I just think the outside of this house needs to be more cheery.
12:16Debbie is, like, cheery and happy and amazing, and I feel like the outside of the house is not, and it needs to feel like sunshine.
12:23Dutch door would be super cute on this, like, stone cottage.
12:26And then when the kids are over and it's out, she has the top of the door open, but the kids are trapped and safe.
12:32Not trapped.
12:33That didn't sound...
12:34That's not the right word.
12:35You want to leave it at the same location?
12:37But then what...
12:38This is weird.
12:39Just put glass in there.
12:40I know, but it's...
12:41It's...
12:42Put clear glass.
12:43Look how ugly it is, Dave.
12:44Come look out here.
12:45It's ugly.
12:46Okay, so a centered-up, four-foot Dutch door.
12:48Right?
12:49Doesn't that feel like sunshine to anyone else?
12:50Yeah.
12:52Okay, one more thing.
12:53I was thinking for this dining room...
12:55Okay.
12:56It looks super sketch.
12:57I don't want to go on it.
12:58So remember when Gates was talking about this room?
13:00This is where him and his dad, like, had lots of really good conversations.
13:03So I think we need to get a giant table, number one.
13:06Okay.
13:07But you know how you like to work with stained glass back in your college days?
13:11It was an elective class.
13:12What if you make a piece of stained glass that we hang in the new windows?
13:17It's not part of the windows because I don't want to...
13:19Like, that's too complicated.
13:20But we can just hang it.
13:21And then when the sun shines on it, the colors will come through onto the dining table.
13:26So it's like in honor of their dad and memory of their dad.
13:29And the light shines down on the table so he's still here because this was the space where they have such great memories with him.
13:35And I don't think you need to do anything, like, elaborate.
13:37I think it should just be lots of pretty colors that sort of mimic the lake.
13:40Like, really soft lake, sky.
13:42Blues and greens.
13:43Yeah.
13:44Okay.
13:45Stained glass, baby.
13:46Some of the classes that you take in college you never think you're going to use.
13:50But that is one that we have put to good use.
13:52All right.
13:53Break.
13:54Good job.
14:00Today, Chris and I are cutting eyebrow arches to go over the bar and the pantry door.
14:04There we go.
14:05Howdy, howdy.
14:06Hey.
14:07Got a lot of framing.
14:08The arch looks really good.
14:09So what else?
14:10Okay.
14:11On this doorway here into the pantry, what Chris and I had talked about was, you know, running a three-foot opening and then just doing the archway and the trim.
14:27So then you'd have just the standard square doors.
14:29Yeah.
14:30The good news is I have the vending machine ordered.
14:34Here's, it's going to match the color of the cabinetry in the pantry.
14:38How big is it?
14:39Four foot one and a half inches.
14:40Four foot one and a half wide.
14:41Yeah, it's not going to fit.
14:43It's not going to fit?
14:44What do you mean it's not going to fit?
14:45Not with an arched doorway.
14:46Who knew that a vending machine was four feet wide and seven feet tall and 30 inches deep?
14:51It needs to fit all the snacks.
14:52It needs to fit all the snacks.
14:53Here's a thought.
14:54Do we just do a cased opening and not have a door on the pantry?
14:57If it's all closed cabinetry, it's actually really beautiful.
15:00No.
15:01So I have one more question.
15:02Okay.
15:03Yes.
15:04I know that we have square cased opening, square cased opening and one random eyebrow.
15:08No.
15:09That's like a unique spot.
15:10No.
15:11I don't think so.
15:12That's all I needed.
15:13At the Neiman House we moved the kitchen so now we have this extra space and they love
15:26to play games as a family so we are making a game table for this room.
15:31We're using walnut.
15:32It's really beautiful.
15:33The guys are cutting the top and this space in the game room is going to feel very different
15:38than the rest of the house which is what I wanted.
15:40I'm going to go look through a pile of tile because I need some tile for the little bar
15:44area.
15:45Okay.
15:46Next to the game room at the Neiman House we have a little bar and I know we had some
15:52leftover green tile back here and I have to find it because I really think it would
15:57be pretty.
15:58Oh yes.
15:59This is it.
16:00I need 35 square feet and I knew I had this somewhere.
16:06This is actually leftover from Sylvie's bathroom and I think it will be really pretty.
16:09In that arched bar right next to the game room with that dark walnut table I think that'll
16:14be really pretty.
16:15So okay good.
16:16I'm just going to leave it here but I'll bring it to the house tomorrow.
16:18There we go.
16:22Time is of the essence at Debbie's house because her new grand baby is due any day now.
16:32We're adding the dormer, the back wall is being prepped for new windows and at Derrick's shop
16:37Dave, Derrick and his brother Damon are going to start building the front door.
16:41It's going to be a nice door.
16:42It's done.
16:43Yeah.
16:44Winters are going in.
16:57Oh my gosh.
16:58Look at this view.
16:59Are you kidding me?
17:00It's incredible isn't it?
17:01It's been a while.
17:02Hi.
17:03It looks like you're knee deep in something are you?
17:04I am.
17:05Look at this view.
17:06Look where I'm at.
17:07Hang on.
17:08Let me show you.
17:09Look at this view Brian.
17:10I mean.
17:11Okay.
17:12Well I'm knee deep in HGTV Dream from 2026.
17:14It's in North Carolina.
17:15This is actually the first time I've ever done a lake house and you have done like a dozen.
17:20We're actually at a lake house literally right now.
17:21Come say hello.
17:22Okay.
17:23So what's up?
17:24Can we help you?
17:25Yes.
17:26So because you've done so many lake houses, we would love to kind of collaborate on this
17:31one area that is going to be used for al fresco dining.
17:32It's a covered outdoor space on the dock.
17:33Oh my gosh.
17:34That'd be amazing.
17:35Yeah.
17:36We would like a table that seats about 60 people.
17:37Okay.
17:38It can be in an outdoor covered space.
17:39But aside from that, we would love your spin on something.
17:41That would be amazing.
17:42Yeah.
17:43We would like a table that seats about 60 people.
17:45Okay.
17:46It can be in an outdoor covered space.
17:48And aside from that, we would love your spin on something that you would enjoy with your
17:51own family by the water.
17:52Okay.
17:53Love to see you there.
17:54Okay.
17:55Amazing.
17:56Okay.
17:57We can do that.
17:58I'll keep you posted.
17:59Okay.
18:00Bye, Brian.
18:01Thanks.
18:02Bye.
18:03Okay.
18:04So that was a friend of mine, Brian Patrick Flynn.
18:05He is another designer and he is actually working on the HGTV Dream Home, which is so cool
18:09because they essentially create a dream home and then they give it away.
18:14So he just asked if we could come up with an idea for an outdoor dining table, come up
18:18with something.
18:19But this is very exciting.
18:20Very fun.
18:21I love this kind of stuff.
18:22Dave, we got to think on this.
18:25Gosh.
18:26Oh my gosh.
18:27Oh my gosh.
18:28Oh my gosh.
18:29Look at this.
18:30Look at this.
18:31Oh my gosh.
18:32This is what I wanted.
18:35You're good.
18:36You got plenty of room.
18:45This is the door that we finished at Derrick's shop.
18:48Oh, you guys.
18:49I got it.
18:50Oh, oh, oh, oh.
18:53Like a dream.
18:55Oh, the door.
18:57Knock, knock.
18:58Oh.
18:59Oh, hi guys.
19:01What's up?
19:02Oh, did you see the stone is here too?
19:04No.
19:05Hello.
19:06Charlie.
19:07What's up, man?
19:08Brought you a few rocks.
19:09Holy cow.
19:10This was probably a heavy, uh, look.
19:12We're looking at all the different sizes and stuff.
19:14I kind of like that it's all different.
19:16Jay's really good at it.
19:17You're good at piecing it together.
19:18I want it to look haphazard like an old cottage, you know?
19:21Okay.
19:22Like I don't want it to be all...
19:23Uniformed?
19:24Yeah.
19:25Debbie's going to love this.
19:26She loves stone.
19:27And so I think we just make it super cute.
19:30Dave?
19:31Yeah?
19:32I have Debbie Neiman on the phone.
19:33Debbie.
19:34She has some news for us.
19:35Debbie.
19:36What's going on?
19:37Yes.
19:38The baby's here.
19:39Oh!
19:40Oh!
19:41Congratulations.
19:42Oh my goodness.
19:44I'm so happy to share it with you guys.
19:45Well, thank you for doing so.
19:46And this kind of lights a fire on getting your house done now.
19:47We've got to get that thing done so you can come and enjoy that new baby.
19:48Well, thank you, Debbie.
19:49Go enjoy that baby.
19:50Congratulations.
19:51Thank you so much.
19:52All right.
19:53Bye.
19:54I actually was going to go pick out a gift for them anyway, and now the baby's here.
20:09What are you doing?
20:10Cleaning?
20:11This is a mess.
20:12I know.
20:13It used to be organized, but it's like everything we have.
20:15Oh, I love it.
20:16We're selling Seth.
20:17I know.
20:18We're selling.
20:19Do you want to help me put together a gift?
20:20Sure.
20:21Yeah, I'll take a break from this.
20:22Okay.
20:23Back at the house, while Jay is working on the stone exterior, the new layout is coming
20:26together inside, and we've got our beautiful hardwood floors going down throughout the house.
20:31It's going to be great.
20:32Feeling good.
20:33Okay.
20:34I'm going to stick them over here.
20:40So if you did the metal base with this.
20:43Let me go grab the steel.
20:44So we are working on a tabletop for Brian Patrick Flynn and the dream home.
20:51This is all handmade tile.
20:52You can see it's gorgeous.
20:53The mosaic tile that we are going to put as the top of the table Dave will build.
20:58Here's your edge.
20:59And we're trying to decide.
21:00We have this tile here.
21:01Okay.
21:02Which again, I've got to go get one inch steel.
21:03This is two inch.
21:04Remember this is like on the dock.
21:05Alfresco.
21:06Okay.
21:07Okay.
21:08Okay.
21:09Okay.
21:10Okay.
21:11Okay.
21:12Okay.
21:13Okay.
21:14Okay.
21:15Okay.
21:16Okay.
21:17Okay.
21:18Okay.
21:19Okay.
21:20Okay.
21:21Okay.
21:22Okay.
21:23Okay.
21:24Okay.
21:25Okay.
21:26Okay.
21:27Okay.
21:28All fresco dining by the lake.
21:29It's very soft.
21:30How do you feel?
21:31I think this is it.
21:32I think it's so pretty.
21:33We have the tabletop decided.
21:34We have some beautiful mosaic tile.
21:36Dave's going to build the actual top where we'll lay the tile in.
21:40And then for the legs, we'll repurpose some steel that he can then weld into the legs.
21:45It also needs to look old.
21:47That's what I love about that tile.
21:48So it looks like an antique piece of furniture that will be really beautiful for this al fresco dining.
21:58And we have the Grab.
21:59It's very Doctrine.
22:00It's very nice to see.
22:01So it looks like a lie.
22:02That's what it looks like.
22:03I'm going to do my own.
22:04I'm going to do not take this off.
22:05I'm going to do a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of aìš©.
22:06trim, and we're seeing good progress in Debbie's main closet and bathroom suite.
22:26Hello, how are you? I'm great, how are you? Good, I'm Jenny. Great, I'm Beth. Nice to meet you.
22:30Nice to meet you. Hey Beth, I'm Dave. Hi Dave. Nice to meet you. Thank you for coming in.
22:33This is so awesome. Now how long have you been here? I didn't even know you were here.
22:36Just moved to this location, but I've been in the area for 15 years.
22:39Oh, okay. Well we have some plans. So we're wanting to make a piece of stained glass art.
22:44Dave is also a stained glass artiste. Beth, I took some classes in college. Awesome.
22:49Just a few short years ago. So we wanted to make a piece for a homeowner that we're working with on a renovation.
22:54Her and her husband had been looking for a house out on the lake for many years.
22:58They finally found one, and he actually unexpectedly passed away.
23:02And she is now continuing with their plans to renovate this home and make it what they wanted it to be together.
23:07Oh, okay. Wonderful. So this, I want it to be very natural.
23:10It's kind of like the lake and the sunset and the sky.
23:14So do you want to pick some colors then? Sure. Let's...
23:17Glasses over here. Good supplies.
23:19Dave has fixed pieces of stained glass before that we found in old homes, so a historic glass.
23:25But I don't know that he's ever actually made a piece.
23:28I don't know. He says he has in college, but that was a very long time ago.
23:31But we'll pick out some glass here and work on it later at the barn.
23:34Hey, Jen, what about something like this for the mountains?
23:37Kind of has that Ozark Mountain look.
23:39Ooh, that's a little, a little bit too, too much.
23:42It feels like a little bit like a peacock. No offense to the glass.
23:45I feel like that's bright. Yeah, too bright. Yeah.
23:49That's a little too veiny, a little too much movement.
23:52There's just, you know, this kind of thing.
23:54Where are you leaning color-wise?
23:57I know you said too bright. We don't want to be...
24:01That's too wavy.
24:03I feel like the biggest issue to getting this done is going to be standing right behind you.
24:08How are you going to cut these little pieces? I'm so confused on how this works, to be perfectly honest.
24:18You make a pattern, and then you lay them on the glass, and then you trace around, and that gives you...
24:22It's like a puzzle.
24:23...where you cut. Okay. I feel good about this. What about this for, like, the mountains?
24:27I feel like we've got sky, water, and mountains.
24:31I think that's great.
24:33How are you going to be able to do this?
24:34I can do this.
24:36I don't think it's going to be that bad.
24:38Sometimes Jenny, she just, she's not an artist. She's a designer, and it's a different thing.
24:43What'd you say?
24:44Nothing.
24:45What did you say?
24:47I'm not an artist? I'm not an artist. I know I'm not.
24:50Anything else you would recommend I get from you while I'm in here?
24:53No, that's it. See, this is why I love glass.
24:56Stained glass, the technology, the only thing that's really improved since the 1400s is the grinder.
25:03Yeah.
25:04That's amazing.
25:05So everything that I use and do is what they used to do way, way back.
25:09That's super cool.
25:10And I just love that.
25:11I love that too.
25:12How do you feel knowing that your husband does a craft that's been done since...
25:14You're basically like Michelangelo over here.
25:17You're basically the sculptor of the David at this moment.
25:19Nice.
25:20Maybe that's why you're named David.
25:21That's right.
25:22We're here at Neiman.
25:27We have the stone on the house.
25:30It looks so good.
25:31We have the dormer up.
25:33All the cabinetry is here.
25:36And in the living room, we're bringing in the stone that we used on the exterior to the fireplace,
25:41giving this whole lakeside cottage a fresh feel.
25:52Are you ready?
25:53Yeah.
25:54You have the gift or do you want me to grab it?
25:55Yeah, I've got it.
25:56Oh my gosh.
25:57How are you?
25:58How are you?
25:59How are you?
26:00How are you?
26:01Oh my gosh.
26:02How are you?
26:03How are you?
26:04Dave and Jetty are here.
26:05How are you?
26:06Hi.
26:07Oh my gosh.
26:08Congratulations.
26:09Congrats.
26:10Hey guys.
26:11What's up?
26:12How are you?
26:13Hey, how are you guys?
26:14Oh my gosh.
26:15Look at that little thing.
26:17Thank you so much.
26:18Hey, congrats.
26:19Thank you so much.
26:20You guys are so sweet.
26:21Got a little gift for you guys.
26:22Just dropping this by.
26:23Oh, thank you.
26:24Is he a duck?
26:25Are you gonna be a duck?
26:26And how's he doing?
26:27Is he eating and sleeping and all the things?
26:30Doing all the baby things.
26:31Yeah.
26:32How's your mom doing?
26:33Is she getting...
26:34Well, I'm sure she's just fine.
26:35She doesn't care about the house because she's got the baby.
26:37I'll be honest.
26:38She asks if we can go over to the house and snoop every once in a while and I'm like,
26:41can't do it, Mom.
26:42Nice.
26:43Oh, I love it.
26:44So good.
26:45I don't even know where the time's gone because it feels like we were at the house yesterday.
26:48We were having a baby.
26:49And I'm like, well, that was like three months ago.
26:51Yeah.
26:52Okay.
26:53Well, there's a whole baby here now.
26:54Yes.
26:55A whole new life.
26:56Well, we'll be done pretty soon.
26:57Well, congratulations.
26:58We will leave you.
26:59See you guys.
27:00Bye.
27:01Bye, guys.
27:02Bye, guys.
27:03Debbie's new grandbaby has arrived.
27:04So we're picking up the pace at her house to try to get it done in just three weeks so
27:06she can be close to her family.
27:08Paint is happening.
27:09The bar is underway with the green tile I had being installed.
27:13Kitchen countertops are going in.
27:15That's a big piece of countertop.
27:18This place is coming together.
27:21Let's keep going.
27:28How's it going?
27:29It's going pretty good.
27:31This color is so pretty.
27:34Is the color pretty or is the work that your amazing husband did pretty?
27:39Yeah.
27:40So basically what I'm doing is I'm not following these lines exactly because once I started
27:45doing this, I realized it doesn't really matter if the lines are exact because I can
27:51make these seams wherever I want.
27:53So even though I just broke that piece.
27:55Mm-hmm.
27:56It'll work.
27:57It'll work.
27:58This is like doing a puzzle, which is basically torture.
28:01So what is this thing?
28:02That's my grinder.
28:03That's an old, it's like a relic.
28:06That came from the 14th century.
28:11You want to try to grind?
28:12No.
28:13Come on.
28:14I just don't want to.
28:15I know you, I know there's an artistic side in there.
28:17I know there is an artistic side.
28:18I picked out the colors.
28:19You're not able to pick out colors.
28:20You can cut and paste.
28:22I can pick out the colors.
28:23That's my art.
28:24Did you just?
28:25I think you just insulted me.
28:26You insulted me first.
28:29All right.
28:30I'm going back to work.
28:32This stained glass project I thought would be really, really special for Debbie and I
28:35want it to be really peaceful and beautiful and evoke a calming emotion, not like a stark
28:41in-your-face jarring emotion.
28:44Yes.
28:45See what you think of the sun.
28:46Okay.
28:47I think I'm close.
28:49Oh, it's so pretty.
28:50I think the color's perfect.
28:51I feel really good about this now.
28:55We've got about two weeks left on the Neiman house.
28:58We're putting in new lighting.
29:00We've got hardware to install.
29:03We have a fireplace.
29:05Let's go.
29:06We've got, I mean, we're moving along.
29:07We're close.
29:08We're getting close.
29:09So nice and clean.
29:12Perfect.
29:13Are we all set in the pantry?
29:14Oh, yeah.
29:15It looks so cute.
29:16I can't wait to put the vending machine in.
29:17Are we going to do that today?
29:18Yeah.
29:19I'm not looking forward to this one.
29:20I know.
29:21Oh, great.
29:22Okay.
29:23Twist.
29:24We're gonna have to lay it down to go in the door.
29:25I didn't realize it would be this difficult to get this thing in here.
29:40Still a good idea, though.
29:42It's a really cute vending machine.
29:44Do you want me to hold the strap?
29:47Oh, you're doing, oh, wow.
29:48Is that on your side?
29:49Yeah.
29:50How are you guys gonna fit through the door?
29:51You're not gonna fit.
29:52We haven't figured that out yet.
29:53Man, that's heavy.
29:54Dave, you're gonna get it on those pipes.
29:57Oh, my gosh.
29:58Is it on there, Jen?
29:59Yes, it's on.
30:00Hey, now take and push that other pipe a little closer.
30:03Like that?
30:04Yep.
30:05Okay.
30:06Okay.
30:07Now, hold on.
30:08Let us get on the inside with the straps.
30:10Huh.
30:11This might work.
30:12Where there's a will, there's a way.
30:13I'm impressed.
30:14Do you need the strap?
30:16Oh, you got it.
30:17Oh, you got it.
30:18Okay.
30:19Okay.
30:20Now you need another one.
30:21Oh!
30:22Now you need another one.
30:23Oh!
30:28Now you need another one.
30:29Oh!
30:30Then Chris just laughs.
30:34Okay.
30:35Good?
30:36Yep.
30:41I think we're gonna clear by about a quarter of an inch.
30:44Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're good.
30:45We're good.
30:46Oh!
30:47Oh!
30:52Look!
30:53Oh my gosh, it's so cute.
30:55Pretty cool.
30:56I like it.
30:57You guys did great.
30:58Good job.
30:59Man, the color's perfect.
31:00Looks good.
31:01So we've got the table for Brian and the HGTV Dream Home.
31:13All built.
31:14Did a steel table with the tile that Jenny wanted.
31:17She picked out a grout that just matches.
31:20You can kind of see the white that's in there right now.
31:23So something that just matches that.
31:25So I'm gonna just grout this stuff in, sponge it off, and then silicone the edges and get this thing in the mail.
31:34How stinking pretty is this table?
31:37Looks so good.
31:38You did such a good job.
31:40I think Brian's gonna love it, don't you?
31:43Whoever wins the house is gonna love it.
31:44Do you think they'll change the name of the competition to the Dream Home and Table giveaway?
31:49No, I think they'll call it the HGTV Dream Table.
31:52And home.
31:53And if you win, you get this house.
31:57All right, the table is done.
31:58It's taken apart.
32:00We're packing it up.
32:01We're gonna ship it off to North Carolina to the Dream Home.
32:05There we go.
32:14Jenny.
32:15Right here, right?
32:16Mm-hmm.
32:17Man, it does kind of look like the mountains beyond.
32:19Uh-huh.
32:20Gosh.
32:21I have to admit, Dave exceeded expectations.
32:23I wasn't so sure how this stained glass would come out.
32:26Hey, actually, did you go back to the shop and have her help you?
32:29Or did you really do this by yourself?
32:31100% me.
32:33Okay, good job.
32:35When we started this, it was in hopes that they could remember their dad,
32:38like with the sunlight coming through the stained glass.
32:41Let's try it.
32:44Oh, be careful.
32:45Do you like that?
32:46Actually, it's perfect, I think.
32:47Do you like that?
32:48I think.
32:49What do you think?
32:50Picasso?
32:51I think if you're happy, I'm happy.
32:52All right, should we go get the game table?
32:53Bring that in?
32:54Sure.
32:56All right, keep going.
32:57Let's get you level.
32:58Let's get you level.
32:59Why are you making fun of me?
33:01I'm trying to help him out.
33:02I don't know.
33:03He's just really funny to me for some reason.
33:05Hi.
33:06What's up?
33:07There we go.
33:08Oh, it's so pretty.
33:09Yeah, it came out really pretty.
33:10It looks fantastic.
33:11All right, let's bring it in.
33:12Oh, that dude has not gotten any lighter though.
33:14All right.
33:15It is very heavy.
33:16I'm going to roll around this way.
33:18Yep.
33:19I was trying to help him.
33:20I don't think it really helped you at all.
33:22There we go.
33:23I was just making the noise.
33:24It looked like I was helping.
33:25Dave and Austin built this beautiful walnut table for the game room here at Debbie Neiman's.
33:32Right into that room there.
33:33They love playing games as a family, so this table will be the centerpiece of the game room
33:38where they will enjoy card games and board games and all the things.
33:42All right.
33:43I mean, this is perfect.
33:44It's like the room was built around the table.
33:46Yeah.
33:47I love it.
33:48This is awesome.
33:49It came out pretty.
33:50Good room.
33:51Good job, guys.
33:59Doesn't that look so cute?
34:00Yeah, does that work?
34:01Camp Dee Dee.
34:02Yep.
34:03That little step stool is pretty slick, too.
34:04I know.
34:05Let's get here for the...
34:06Built for kids or Dave.
34:07Yeah.
34:10Oh, my gosh, babe.
34:11Look at this view.
34:12Oh, and your stained glass looks so good with the light coming in.
34:15She does.
34:16It turned out nice.
34:17It looks so good.
34:28Perfect.
34:30Hey, will you turn that lamp on?
34:31Yes.
34:32I got all the pillows, like, all set.
34:34Is this good?
34:35I had done these before, but good job, babe.
34:37If you did.
34:38Cozy.
34:39I am so excited.
34:43This is going to look phenomenal.
34:45I know.
34:46I've got butterflies in my stomach.
34:47I know.
34:48Heart rate is jacked.
34:49I'm sort of in shock.
34:50Like, this really is not happening to me.
34:53Yeah.
34:54I cannot be this lucky.
34:56Ooh.
34:57Look at this.
34:58Oh.
34:59Oh, my gosh.
35:00Look at the stone.
35:01Oh, God.
35:02So much better.
35:03Oh, God.
35:04Guys.
35:05Oh, I love this already.
35:07Hello.
35:08Okay.
35:09I said I wasn't going to cry.
35:10Aw.
35:11Hello.
35:12Okay.
35:13I said I wasn't going to cry.
35:14Aw.
35:15Oh, my gosh.
35:16Good to see you.
35:17Great to see you.
35:18Oh, my God.
35:19This is so beautiful.
35:22What do you think about the stone?
35:23Yes.
35:24I love it.
35:25All three in the same sense.
35:26The stone.
35:27Yeah.
35:28The dormer is incredible.
35:29You like the windows.
35:30Yes.
35:31I know.
35:32It gives it some dimension, because it used to be all roof.
35:34Yes.
35:35Yeah.
35:36And it now looks like this, like, little cottage.
35:38We've got the shutters and the window boxes.
35:40The new windows.
35:41The new windows.
35:42Oh, my gosh.
35:43Oh, my gosh.
35:44Oh, my gosh.
35:45Good to see you.
35:46Oh, my gosh.
35:47Oh, my gosh.
35:48Oh, my gosh.
35:49The new windows.
35:51A new front door, which I don't even think you've seen yet.
35:53No.
35:54Oh, wow.
35:56Oh, that's beautiful.
35:57You like the door?
35:58Beautiful.
35:59Don't look in the window.
36:00This is such a good cottage look.
36:01Yes.
36:02Oh, it's gorgeous.
36:03I always wanted a dutch yard.
36:05Oh, yay.
36:06I'm so bad.
36:07If this was the end of it, I would overjoy.
36:10Oh, we have so much more.
36:12So much more.
36:13I have overjoyed at this point.
36:14Yes.
36:15All right.
36:16Go and have fun.
36:17Oh, my gosh.
36:18Oh, wow.
36:19Oh, it's gorgeous.
36:21Look at the fireplace.
36:22Oh, I love it.
36:23Look at the fireplace.
36:24Oh, my God.
36:25The fireplace.
36:26Yes.
36:27I love that bookshelf.
36:29You know, obviously, this used to be the screened-in porch, so we opened all this, connected
36:33the spaces.
36:34I'm so excited.
36:35I want to go.
36:36I was like, oh, I'm so glad.
36:38You all just outdid yourself.
36:41Oh, well, I know this is a long time coming and a big dream for you and Greg as well.
36:47Yes.
36:48You'll be able to enjoy with your kids and grandkids and his memories here.
36:52Yes.
36:53And I have this feeling right now just to keep walking to the window.
36:57Yes.
36:58Let's go to the window then.
36:59That's how it's been this whole time.
37:00It's just that view is so stunning.
37:02Oh, my gosh.
37:03Oh, my gosh.
37:04Look at this.
37:05Look at this.
37:07Go see it.
37:08Do you believe this?
37:09Oh, my Lord.
37:10This is what I wanted, too, man.
37:12This is beautiful.
37:13Before we go in the kitchen, I would like to point something out.
37:16You guys did talk about this is where you and your dad spent a lot of time and had a lot
37:19of good memories.
37:20And so Dave actually made this stained glass piece that we put right here.
37:24Oh, my gosh.
37:25A mirror reflection of the lake.
37:26Thank you so much.
37:27Yeah, but in memory of your dad.
37:28That's awesome.
37:29Thank you so much for that.
37:30That is very thoughtful.
37:31Thank you, Dave.
37:32You're welcome.
37:33Gorgeous.
37:34Yeah.
37:35It is gorgeous.
37:36All right.
37:37Now go check out the kitchen.
37:38Yes.
37:39Okay.
37:40Oh, my goodness.
37:41I love with this.
37:42This kitchen is very classic and timeless.
37:46Debbie.
37:47Oh, Cam Didi.
37:49That is so cute.
37:50Yes.
37:51That is really cute.
37:52This countertop was determined by the widest slab of material we could get.
37:57So we're like, we've got the room.
37:59Let's go as the biggest, lightest slab we can get.
38:02That's what we'll make it.
38:03I like that line of thinking.
38:04The spread we could lay out here, I mean, you guys have created, like, the ultimate hosting
38:08house.
38:09We're going to have to kick people out.
38:10Ultimate family house.
38:11Yeah, I will.
38:12Speaking of hosting, we do have, like, a lot more hosting spaces.
38:16Yes.
38:17We've got to go around the corner here.
38:18Yeah, there's one.
38:19Really?
38:20I can't imagine.
38:21I can't imagine.
38:23Oh, my God.
38:24Oh.
38:25Oh.
38:26What is this?
38:29Okay.
38:30All right.
38:31This is hilarious.
38:32That's hysterical.
38:33You had me a chocolate chip cookie.
38:35I mean.
38:36Look at all the kid pouches.
38:37So you key it in.
38:39You also key in the price.
38:40You can put prices on here if you want.
38:42Oh, my goodness.
38:43But you don't have to.
38:44Like, two hugs and a kiss.
38:46Yeah, that's a good idea.
38:47And then it vends right for you.
38:49Yeah.
38:50I love that.
38:51It's a working vending machine.
38:52That is amazing.
38:53And your own swag.
38:54Yeah.
38:55I know.
38:56That's what I said.
38:57It can't be on everything.
38:59And we thought, consider putting doors on here.
39:01But I wanted it to be really beautiful.
39:03So we went with this, like, taupe.
39:04Yeah.
39:05It has a little pink undertones.
39:06A little bit of a rose.
39:07So I think it's just a really pretty and fun space that we wanted to leave open.
39:11I think it's hysterical.
39:12Yeah.
39:13I love it.
39:14Okay.
39:15So we have more spaces.
39:16We'll just go straight out.
39:17Take a left again.
39:18Okay.
39:19Oh, wow.
39:20Oh, I love that.
39:21Oh, look at the arch.
39:22This is beautiful.
39:23Oh.
39:24So you have the space in there for the kids.
39:25And then when you're entertaining, you can have the bar set for the adults.
39:28The wood is gorgeous.
39:29So we brought in the walnut and the dark green tiles.
39:32One of my favorite mellows.
39:33Yes.
39:34I know.
39:35I love it.
39:36You also said you guys love to play games together.
39:38Yes.
39:39So we also created another space specifically for you guys to come in and hang out and game.
39:44Oh, wow.
39:45Look at these chairs.
39:47Poker night.
39:48I love this table.
39:49You like the table?
39:50Yes.
39:51I built that for you.
39:52Did you?
39:53We had to have something that was specific for this room.
39:57Jenny wanted to keep the dark walnut.
39:59It's gorgeous.
40:00Yeah.
40:01So you've got a nice game table.
40:02This is unbelievable.
40:03This is gorgeous.
40:04Isn't it beautiful?
40:05That is.
40:06Oh.
40:07Okay.
40:08So now we have your bedroom still.
40:09You ready for that?
40:10We still have that.
40:11Yeah, there's more.
40:12Let's go.
40:13All right.
40:14Okay.
40:15After you.
40:16Oh, wow.
40:17You're kidding me.
40:18Absolutely.
40:19You're kidding me.
40:20This is beautiful.
40:21Look at this bed.
40:22Look at my view.
40:24That's what I wake up.
40:25Amazing.
40:26We talked about colors in here.
40:29I wanted this to be really soft and soothing and peaceful.
40:32It feels very airy.
40:33Yeah.
40:34So you remember before you didn't enter your bedroom.
40:36Yes.
40:37No.
40:38You had to go down a long hallway.
40:39We called it the hall of mirrors.
40:41It was the hall of mirrors.
40:42Yes.
40:43There's nothing I don't like.
40:45Oh, wow.
40:46Oh, man.
40:47Oh, okay.
40:48Look at this storage space.
40:49I have never had such a...
40:51Oh, I love this for you.
40:53It was a closet, but you don't want a closet exposed that everybody has to walk through.
40:58So now it's private.
40:59And closing off that wall gave us more storage, which is wonderful for a closet.
41:03So you got lots of space.
41:04That's right.
41:05Let's go look at your bathroom.
41:06Yeah.
41:07Oh, wow.
41:08That's beautiful.
41:09Look at this.
41:10Look at the walnut cabinets.
41:12Oh, my gosh.
41:14Another perfect room.
41:17Look at the shower.
41:18I love the tile, but I love the size.
41:21It's a nice big shower and a soaking tub.
41:24And again, bringing in that walnut that we have there at the house, so it feels traditional,
41:29but modern.
41:30This is just gorgeous.
41:31And you have a separate water closet now, so a proper door.
41:35Should we go say goodbye?
41:36I think you got to take over your place now.
41:38Yes.
41:39Let's go out here.
41:40I think Dave and Jenny hit it out of the ballpark, as they say.
41:44This whole house really is in honor of Greg.
41:47He always said in the beginning he bought it for me.
41:51Turned out he loved it.
41:53We'll see you later.
41:54Enjoy.
41:55Okay.
41:56Bye.
41:57Thank you again.
41:58I know my dad's really happy with this house because he always wanted to take care of my mom.
42:03He always wanted to give her this house.
42:05And now that it's here, I know he can see it.
42:07It's going to be an opportunity to bring our family together.
42:10Hi.
42:11Welcome.
42:12Hey, guys.
42:13The thought they put in, Dave made a gorgeous round table in the game room.
42:19And y'all play a lot of games.
42:21Yeah, we play a lot of games.
42:23Just beautiful.
42:24And then the stained glass.
42:26When we'd go to our church, we had beautiful stained glass windows.
42:30And Greg would always say, pick one piece in the stained glass.
42:35And that's your piece.
42:37We're all going to have pieces.
42:39It is absolutely beautiful.
42:42We thought the view was nice before.
42:44That's what I said.
42:45It looks so much better without screens.
42:47That's the thing as you get older in life that you gravitate to.
42:51The things that you know are going to be priceless.
42:54Being your own heavens and deste general.
42:55I think the truth signs are that you wouldn't be priceless.
42:57We'll see you next time.
