00:00:01Ancient ruins submerged for thousands of years.
00:00:07Alien creatures lurking beneath our seas.
00:00:11And unidentified objects emerging from the depths of the ocean.
00:00:19For nearly two decades, ancient aliens has traveled the globe exploring towering megalithic structures,
00:00:27mysterious artifacts, and stories of otherworldly beings
00:00:32in a quest for evidence that might reveal the truth of our extraterrestrial origins.
00:00:39It's fascinating to think of stories from around the world of disc-shaped crab coming up out of the water.
00:00:46Now, we take a look back through the ancient aliens' archives to the show's very origins
00:00:53to examine the evidence that we are not alone.
00:00:57We have never been alone.
00:01:08You know, in ancient aliens we often talk about what people have seen in the sky,
00:01:11but there are many accounts of strange beings and craft coming up out of the water.
00:01:15Yeah, and when you consider the fact that two-thirds of our planet is covered in water,
00:01:20you have to imagine that there are things hidden in the oceans and lakes that we know nothing about.
00:01:25And in fact, we're finding entire cities in the depths of the ocean.
00:01:29Oh, absolutely. That's why we start this episode with Atlantis,
00:01:32the legendary island that sank into the ocean.
00:01:36And let me tell you, if we find Atlantis, then I know we'll find more proof of ET visitation.
00:01:43We covered it in Season 2 in Underwater Worlds.
00:01:50Covering more than 71% of the planet,
00:01:53the Earth's oceans are a vast and largely unexplored mystery.
00:02:00For most of recorded history, man could only guess at what lay beneath the ocean's surface.
00:02:06But new technologies are reaching new depths.
00:02:11Researchers around the world are finding the unexpected.
00:02:15Underwater complexes and sophisticated monuments that defy the conventional historical record.
00:02:22There are remains of urban civilizations on parts of the Earth that were exposed on land 10,000 and more years ago.
00:02:37And this means that urban civilization is far older by many thousands of years than many scientists now believe possible.
00:02:52Scientific theory suggests that during Earth's last ice age, ocean levels were once much lower than they are today.
00:03:00You have to envisage a world in which there are two-mile-deep ice caps sitting on top of Northern Europe and North America in which are accumulated enormous quantities of water.
00:03:15And we know that this water began to melt about 21,000 years ago and finished melting about 10,000 years ago.
00:03:27As a result, rich coastal lands were slowly submerged by rising sea levels.
00:03:32Ten million square miles of land was flooded all around the world.
00:03:39That's roughly the size of Europe and China added together.
00:03:43We're just rubbed from the record.
00:03:46They just disappear from the story.
00:03:49And in my opinion, archaeology is not doing enough work to investigate those lost and submerged lands.
00:03:55While much of the ocean's floor remains unexplored,
00:03:59for thousands of years, philosophers and scientists have been drawn to one of the greatest mysteries of the sea,
00:04:08the legend of the lost city of Atlantis.
00:04:14It's been said that more books have been written about Atlantis than any other subject.
00:04:21But most of what we know comes from the Greek philosopher Plato, who wrote two books about Atlantis, the Timaeus and the Critias.
00:04:31Written in 360 BC, Plato described Atlantis as a highly advanced city, ringed by concentric walls,
00:04:39which flourished 9,000 years before his own time.
00:04:42There are descriptions of huge palaces for kings.
00:04:50It's stated that Atlantis had huge naval forces, which it used to conquer other parts of the world.
00:04:59It was an urban civilization.
00:05:01According to the ancient Greek texts, Atlantis was connected with extraterrestrials from the beginning.
00:05:12It was founded by the Greek god Poseidon.
00:05:18Poseidon can be regarded as an extraterrestrial in the sense of not being of this earth.
00:05:26According to the legend, after a failed attempt to invade Athens, disaster struck the island.
00:05:37According to Plato, Atlantis was destroyed in a day and a night.
00:05:47In a cataclysmic destruction that sank the entire island and its capital city.
00:05:54Some researchers believe that the Atlanteans somehow destroyed themselves.
00:06:03According to Plato, Atlantis was located in front of the Pillars of Hercules,
00:06:09a location beyond what some scholars attribute to modern Gibraltar.
00:06:14And to the ancients, as they left the Mediterranean Sea to go into the larger Atlantic Ocean,
00:06:21this was where they went beyond the Pillars of Hercules between Spain and Morocco.
00:06:28Across the Atlantic lies the island chain of the Bahamas, just southeast of Florida.
00:06:35Here in 1968, archaeologist Jay Manson Valentine believed he found part of Atlantis when he discovered an unusual rock formation off the coast of North Bimini Island.
00:06:49It's only in about 12 to 18 feet of water, so you can view it easily.
00:06:56First scientists thought this was just beach rock.
00:06:59First scientists thought this was just beach rock.
00:07:02But then several other scientists exploring the Bimini Road noticed that the beach rock was on top of other beach rock with balancing stones wedged in between.
00:07:13And they said, nature doesn't do that, man does.
00:07:16And they realized this is a harbor, a breakwater for a harbor.
00:07:23From the shallow edges of Bimini all the way to the Gulf Stream in 300 feet of water,
00:07:30we have found many fascinating complexities that look like remnants of ancient cities or structures.
00:07:38Roads, pathways, structures covered in coral.
00:07:42Could the Bimini ruins be remnants of Atlantis?
00:07:47And if so, could these roads lead to other sites buried under sand and water?
00:07:55In the year 2000, while mapping the sea floor off the western coast of Cuba,
00:08:00a research expedition led by Russian-Canadian oceanographer Paulina Zalitsky
00:08:06spotted symmetrical stone structures deep below the water.
00:08:09Remarkably, they were over a half mile down.
00:08:13Divers cannot do this kind of investigation, so we have to use a remote operating vehicle.
00:08:21And this vehicle is equipped with video cameras and manipulators.
00:08:26And it's controlled from the deck of the ship.
00:08:28The expedition was also armed with side-scan sonar equipment, used to create images of large areas of the sea floor and underwater objects.
00:08:42I was in control room on the board of the ship, and we were receiving that image coming from side-scan.
00:08:49And this is just one of the many other images that we were obtaining of the area of structures made of large stones placed one on top of another.
00:09:04Well, what do they end up with?
00:09:10It is an image that shows these rectangular, 90-degree angles over and over and over on very large structures that seem to have wide avenues.
00:09:22The exploration found huge stone blocks in pyramid shapes, others more circular.
00:09:31Most were gigantic, reaching 16 feet in height and weighing several tons.
00:09:36Thirty geometric structures emerged, appearing to be the remains of streets, buildings, tunnels and pyramids, all at a depth of 2,200 feet below the surface of the water.
00:09:51We might well have here the evidence of a prehistoric culture that would probably go back tens of thousands of years, and that's very exciting indeed.
00:10:03Using dating techniques based on the presence of nearby volcanic ash, geologists estimated the underwater city sank over 6,000 years ago.
00:10:17Could this be a half mile down some part of the sunken Atlantis from 9,000, 10,000 years ago that Plato talked about?
00:10:28Well, the Atlantis myth is integrally related with the area of the Caribbean and the Bahamas, in particular Cuba.
00:10:38Plato talks about an island empire.
00:10:40He's probably talking about dozens of different islands of different sizes, not just in the western Atlantic, but probably stretching out right into the central Atlantic area.
00:10:50Both the Cuban and the Bahaman ruins lie on the western edge of the Bermuda Triangle, an area of ocean covering over 500,000 square miles, known for magnetic anomalies, extraterrestrial sightings and unexplained disappearances of aircraft and ships.
00:11:11Could there be a connection between Atlantis and the area known as the Devil's Triangle?
00:11:21On the edge of the Bermuda Triangle, there are underwater ruins of the ancient city of Atlantis, the prehistoric city of Atlantis.
00:11:29So, yes, there is a theory that Atlantis lies not near Greece, but in the Bermuda Triangle.
00:11:40If Plato's texts are true, then other Greek myths may provide a hint of the true fate of Atlantis.
00:11:47One myth tells of the Titan goddess named Asteria, who fell from the sky and became an island.
00:11:57In ancient Greece, we have a number of myths which describe islands, bronze gleaming islands that fell from the sky and landed in water.
00:12:10I don't think that Atlantis, therefore, was an actual stationary physical island.
00:12:20Atlantis, according to Plato, disappeared in one night with a lot of fire and a lot of smoke.
00:12:29See, I don't think that Atlantis sank.
00:12:32I think Atlantis lifted off.
00:12:35Was Atlantis a safe haven for ancient aliens before the end of Earth's last ice age?
00:12:48And if so, could there be other alien cities submerged deep underwater?
00:12:58Yonaguni, Japan.
00:13:00This small island is at the westernmost tip of the Japanese archipelago.
00:13:08Scholars believe the first inhabitants migrated here from Southeast Asia during prehistoric times.
00:13:14In 1987, in nearby waters, dive tour operator, Kichiro Arataki, made a shocking discovery.
00:13:33A massive complex of stone formations lay hidden a mere 60 feet beneath the ocean surface.
00:13:40Experts call it one of the greatest discoveries in the history of underwater archaeology.
00:13:52What's intriguing about the complex at Yonaguni is that there are a whole range of monuments pretty much side by side.
00:14:00And this, to my eye, looks unmistakably to be the work of human beings, not the random action of the ocean on differential layers of stone.
00:14:09There are several reasons why I think this is not a natural formation.
00:14:23A number of tools and numerous engraved stones were found at the site.
00:14:28Because of these things, there is no doubt to me that this was made artificially.
00:14:35Submerged beneath 60 to 100 feet of water, the largest of the formations resemble a massive five-layered stepped pyramid,
00:14:48the size of two football fields.
00:14:50You see unambiguous carvings that clearly are geometric in nature, tons of right angles.
00:15:01We see channels that you can walk through with stairwells at the end that are perfectly rectangular in shape.
00:15:06There are places where you find megaliths piled on top of one another to create a tunnel through which you can swim.
00:15:15There is a set of megaliths positioned side by side against the side of the cliff.
00:15:21There's a gigantic human face carved underwater.
00:15:27There is a stone in which is carved a face almost 23 feet tall.
00:15:33Our first impression was that it looked a lot like the moai on Easter Island.
00:15:39Then we began to realize that it strongly resembled the Sphinx, which guarded the pyramids.
00:15:46We wondered if that might be the function the face is also serving here.
00:15:51It's the whole combination of all these structures together which convinced me that we're looking at a ceremonial complex.
00:15:59The mystery surrounding the Yonaguni underwater structure is when did it go underwater.
00:16:08The geological evidence is that it was submerged during the meltdown of the last ice age.
00:16:15All around the world, whether it is France, India or Japan, there are man-made structures that lie underwater.
00:16:34Two ways how our ancestors could have done this.
00:16:37Either they had scuba gear, I don't think so, or this stuff was built when the ocean levels were lower.
00:16:48And that was over 14,000 years ago.
00:16:52And 14,000 years ago, according to mainstream archaeology, we were just dwelling in caves, hunter-gatherers.
00:16:58Could the Yonaguni structures have been built by such primitive people?
00:17:05And what evidence exists of the people who inhabited this island?
00:17:10Human fossils were found, so I'm sure there were people living on the island.
00:17:15But there's some question about whether or not they had the technology to create structures, or anything like this.
00:17:21It's not so much the question of could the stone have been chipped away and removed.
00:17:26It's a question of the vision, of the scale of the complex, of thinking in those kind of terms.
00:17:34And we know of no other Stone Age culture that thought in those kind of terms of creating a gigantic, seemingly ceremonial complex.
00:17:44If, according to scholars, the ancient Japanese people could not have built this monument, who did?
00:17:55And how did it get here?
00:17:57Speculation is that extraterrestrials created the Yonaguni monument.
00:18:03The engineering is just beyond the capacity of Stone Age civilizations.
00:18:07Ancient astronaut theorists also believe the key to the Yonaguni mystery is found in its global positioning.
00:18:21Strangely, the complex lies within an area of the Pacific, long suspected of extraterrestrial activity.
00:18:30It's called the Dragon's Triangle.
00:18:33Just south of Japan, you have a mysterious area called the Dragon's Triangle, which is very similar to the Bermuda Triangle because you have planes that have disappeared from the air, ships that have disappeared from the ocean.
00:18:50In fact, Japan has declared this a disaster area.
00:18:53Don't fly through it, stay the heck away, because if you go in there, terrible things can happen to you.
00:19:09In ancient Japan, and even into the relatively modern era, there are stories about the Dragon's Sea, in which objects rise out of the water and sail through the air.
00:19:19In ancient Japan, these were winged monsters breathing fire.
00:19:26In more modern times, these took on the appearance of actual machines.
00:19:30When you compare those descriptions of these devices with the description that Columbus gave of a craft nearing the Bermuda Triangle actually rising out of the water, a light that followed the ship, you realize there's a similarity in both of these locations.
00:19:48To things, objects, that are in the water and rise out of the water and fly through the air.
00:19:55But why are the two submerged structures found within the perimeter of these strange regions of the planet where so much unusual activity occurs?
00:20:05Is it coincidence that the Earth's 25th parallel north cuts through both the Bermuda Triangle and the Dragon's Triangle?
00:20:15They lie on a plane along the same line, and both of them have the same magnetic phenomena in which compass bearings are lost and instruments go down.
00:20:29People wonder if there's a real strange UFO connection.
00:20:36If UFOs and flying saucers do exist, then we should suspect that they could originally come from an ancient super-civilization.
00:20:42It makes you wonder if flying saucers, UFOs, whatever you want to call them, actually use the area of the Triangle as their major base and perhaps even coming back to the remnants of a civilization that they were familiar with.
00:20:55What if the sunken monuments at Yanaguni and near Cuba had alien origins?
00:21:02Might they have been used as alien bases?
00:21:06And if we believe extraterrestrials functioned on land, could they have also functioned underwater?
00:21:13Could there be more evidence lying in the vast Pacific?
00:21:22When we talk about things hidden in our oceans, it's fascinating to think of stories from around the world of disc-shaped craft coming up out of the water.
00:21:32Yeah, and these stories have happened throughout history.
00:21:35One of my most favorites comes out of Japan, where a craft washed up on shore and it is said that it had strange inscriptions all around it.
00:21:45Yeah, and they said there was a being inside the craft holding some kind of a box.
00:21:50And this was documented by multiple witnesses.
00:21:55As an island nation, it should come as no mystery that much of Japan's rich history is tied to the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
00:22:04But although many of Japan's legends are largely unknown to the West, some are drawing the attention of ancient astronaut theorists.
00:22:17One such legend dates back to 1803 and traces its origins to a beach north of Tokyo.
00:22:25Allegedly, a craft that was quite large in size, washed up on the shore in Japan.
00:22:34Strange round ship reached ashore in this area.
00:22:40And the people investigate the inside of the ship.
00:22:44They found a young, beautiful woman inside the boat.
00:22:48The woman did not speak any language they could identify.
00:22:51There were written inscriptions inside her craft that they could not identify.
00:22:55And she's clutching this box that she didn't want anybody to touch.
00:23:00In some legend, the box was used for severe lover's head.
00:23:06However, the shape of the box a little bit different from the box that is traditionally used for severe head in Japan.
00:23:16So I have no idea the function of this box.
00:23:21So it's an interesting mystery.
00:23:23Known as the legend of the Utsurubune, or hollow ship, the details of the story have puzzled historians for centuries.
00:23:33Where, for example, did the mysterious hollow ship come from?
00:23:38Could it have come from the area of the submerged Yonaguni Monument?
00:23:43Who was the strange woman?
00:23:45And what were the contents of the box she guarded so carefully?
00:23:49Was it a human head?
00:23:51Or was it, as some ancient astronaut theorists believe, a type of brain or other form of extraterrestrial intelligence?
00:24:01If so, could it have been intended as a gift to the early Japanese by an ancient space traveler?
00:24:11There's five different drawings that have survived from completely different regions of Japan.
00:24:16They're almost identical to modern UFO reports.
00:24:19The motif of this legend is the same as that of modern UFO legend.
00:24:24That is the visitors from outer world in the disc-shaped craft.
00:24:31I think that this legend may have a key to solve the modern UFO legend.
00:24:38As evidence to support their claims, ancient astronaut theorists point to early Japanese carvings and statuary, each suggesting a variety of extraterrestrial encounters.
00:24:51This is a dogoo figure, and it comes from Japan.
00:24:56Even to the untrained eye, you look at this, and it's as if this being is wearing some type of a suit with a helmet, some goggles on the back.
00:25:07There are all these weird buckles and circles, you know, straps.
00:25:14Very similar to a modern day space suit.
00:25:18In my opinion, this is a likeness of a possible extraterrestrial that visited Earth thousands of years ago.
00:25:25Archaeologists have catalogued the existence of more than 15,000 dogoo figures made during the Jomon period of prehistoric Japan, dating from approximately 14,000 to 300 years BC.
00:25:43But could, as ancient astronaut theorists believe, these strange dogoo figures really be a primitive interpretation of a pressurized space suit or diving apparel?
00:25:58The story behind those dogoo figures is very clear.
00:26:02And anyone can go and read translations of the ancient texts that the dogoo a long time ago descended from the sky and taught the first Japanese people in various disciplines.
00:26:15And the whole Japanese culture, including the timono, the tea ceremony, the use of wasabi and ginger for eating sushi, the way that they build their architecture, the written language, everything, they say, came from these visitors.
00:26:32From these gods from the universe.
00:26:35The picture shows beings who look like astronauts.
00:26:39They are dressed like an astronaut.
00:26:42They have the helmet as an astronaut.
00:26:44They have some strange tools in their hands, tools which we don't understand.
00:26:49Now, there is a link.
00:26:51The Japanese call it dogus.
00:26:54In North America, we have still the Hopi tribe in Arizona.
00:26:59And the Hopi Indians are still making today kachina dolls.
00:27:09Kachina dolls look similar to the Japanese dogoo figures.
00:27:17Further back in the Sahara Desert, Africa, we found cave paintings.
00:27:24When you see the picture, you see definitely an astronaut suit.
00:27:31No doubt.
00:27:32Absolutely.
00:27:34Now you compare these cave paintings with the kachina dolls of the Hopi and with the dogoo of Japan.
00:27:42You have one line.
00:27:43Do the mysterious dogoo figures provide tangible evidence of extraterrestrial encounters in Japan's ancient past?
00:27:54And does the legend of the Utsurubune suggest that the Earth's oceans may be hiding even more proof of alien contact?
00:28:07Perhaps further clues can be found by examining ancient accounts detailing otherworldly entities that inhabit our oceans.
00:28:16What I find intriguing is that there are multiple ancient cultures that describe encounters with amphibious human-like beings.
00:28:29In other words, fish people.
00:28:31Yeah, like the Greek stories of the Telkinese.
00:28:33These fish-like beings who are sometimes described as the children of Poseidon.
00:28:37Yeah, what's interesting is they're described as master metallurgists with high technology.
00:28:42We featured the Telkinese in a Season 3 episode called Aliens, Gods, and Heroes.
00:28:51Cape Sunion, Greece.
00:28:54Perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the sea,
00:28:59lies the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon, built in 440 BC.
00:29:04The second son of the Titan King, Cronus.
00:29:08Poseidon was worshipped throughout Greece, almost as much as his younger brother, Zeus.
00:29:16Poseidon was the god of the sea.
00:29:18He was also the god of earthquakes and, strangely, horses.
00:29:22When Poseidon was in a good mood, he created new lands out of the sea.
00:29:26He gave calm waters for good voyages.
00:29:29When he was in a bad mood, he destroyed ships and brought storms.
00:29:34Poseidon does rule over the kingdom of the sea.
00:29:40It is envisioned as a kind of a place where people live.
00:29:43And when he comes out of that place, yes, he rides this spectacular kind of like water chariot
00:29:49that is driven by dolphins and he holds on to a really big trident.
00:29:53In Greek mythology, Cronus eats all of his children, except for Zeus, who eventually rescues his siblings, including Poseidon, from the belly of his father.
00:30:04A potion is prepared that makes him heave up all the other siblings of Zeus and they become the gods of Olympus.
00:30:10But ancient astronaut theorists believe this Greek myth is actually a metaphor for an extraterrestrial event.
00:30:20They believe the notion of gods being vomited up from the belly of their father actually describes mutinous aliens being expelled from the mothership.
00:30:30Any being which is swallowed up into a living creature will not be able to survive for three days.
00:30:40It will die from suffocation and will begin to decay.
00:30:44What we have here is not a creature but something else.
00:30:49It could have been an object which was clearly of a man-made or extraterrestrial origin.
00:30:55A mutiny took place.
00:30:57Some of the extraterrestrials, they had sex with wonderful earthly females, women.
00:31:04They were not allowed to do this.
00:31:05So one of these extraterrestrials who were not allowed to go back with the mothership
00:31:12had the name of Poseidon.
00:31:15Poseidon fell in love with the beautiful human girl and he made her pregnant.
00:31:25Poseidon is married, right?
00:31:27He's got a child.
00:31:28He's got some grandchildren, right?
00:31:30There's a whole cast of sea nymphs as well.
00:31:33All of them presumably like live in this place.
00:31:36Poseidon has the power of the deep, the unseen place.
00:31:40If you look out of the sea, you see a surface and you're aware there's a whole world below that,
00:31:45suggesting powers beyond that which meet the eye.
00:31:52Among the mythical creatures associated with Poseidon are the Telkinese,
00:31:57a race of advanced fish children.
00:32:00These human-like beings could live both in and out of water.
00:32:05They're masters of technology and seem to match up with the fish gods of ancient Sumeria,
00:32:11who worked for Enki, the great god of alchemy and technology in Smithcraft.
00:32:16The Telkinese are also kind of in the shadowy territory of god-human monster things.
00:32:23They're just these kind of figures who are not gods but were like human beings.
00:32:29There's one story about the Roman version of Zeus, Jupiter, trying to destroy them.
00:32:35Now, we don't know whether they are actually all destroyed,
00:32:38but it's possibly because of their relationship to the magic.
00:32:43In Greek legend, the Telkinese were also metallurgists.
00:32:52They were said to have created Poseidon's magical trident
00:32:55and to have cast the first bronze statues of the gods of Olympus.
00:33:00And according to some historians, the Telkinese may not have been creatures of myth,
00:33:08but were beings who actually existed.
00:33:15There were people called Telkinese.
00:33:18We do actually have evidence of these beings.
00:33:20They were actual ancient Greeks who had specific tasks and trades,
00:33:25like metallurgy, like smithing and so on.
00:33:28And so you could see how it is that a being like Telkinese,
00:33:32that these things could in fact not just be these mythological beings,
00:33:36but like actual people.
00:33:38So the way that we look at the ancient Greeks and Romans
00:33:40would have been the way that they would have looked at the stories
00:33:42that are being told about the Iliad.
00:33:47We've got the stories of the Telkinese,
00:33:50and they were able to survive underwater for unlimited amounts of time.
00:33:57Now how is such a thing possible?
00:33:59Could the ancient Greek myths really be based on actual events?
00:34:05Were the Telkinese, early humans, enabled with godlike abilities?
00:34:10According to some researchers, these entities,
00:34:14along with other legendary underwater creatures,
00:34:19were not fictional creations, but aliens of the sea.
00:34:30Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, May 2014.
00:34:35At the historic Miyakonojo Shimazoo residence,
00:34:40the mummified remains of a sea animal with webbed hands and feet
00:34:44are put on public display.
00:34:46Discovered in 1818, the bones are the first of their kind to be exhibited
00:34:52and are purported to be from the legendary Kappa,
00:34:56a species of amphibious humanoid creatures believed to lurk in the waters of Japan.
00:35:02These remains were from allegedly a Kappa that had been shot in 1818 near a local river.
00:35:11The Kappa, which translates as water child,
00:35:16is a creature that is usually about five feet in height,
00:35:21has scaly skin,
00:35:25and is usually blue or green in color.
00:35:29It has a turtle shell on its back and a beak,
00:35:33as well as a kind of plate on the top of its head,
00:35:37in which it always has to carry water.
00:35:40If it spills this water, then it loses all of its power
00:35:44and it can die within a very short period of time.
00:35:47So the Kappa is basically a water demon.
00:35:52The Kappa is perceived to be a very malevolent and quite violent creature.
00:35:59And in fact, children are warned to stay away from bodies of water
00:36:02because the Kappa will actually drag them in and drown them.
00:36:09While accounts of the Kappa are rare in modern times,
00:36:13there are still sightings in remote areas, like the Fukuoka prefecture.
00:36:18In fact, to this day, signs can be found posted near bodies of water
00:36:23throughout Japan, warning of the Kappa.
00:36:28For ancient astronaut theorists, the Kappa are not only real,
00:36:32but their existence is proof of otherworldly beings inhabiting the Earth's waters.
00:36:38These Kappa are reported as having an unusual intelligence.
00:36:45Apparently, they can speak even though they have a bird-like beak.
00:36:48And now, physical, tangible artifacts of the body of the Kappa have gone on display.
00:36:55Will we find genetic markers that clearly show that it could not be something from Earth?
00:37:01Could it be that the Kappa are indigenous to planet Earth?
00:37:10Or did they come here by some extraterrestrial means?
00:37:16Perhaps the answer can be found by examining the many historical accounts of mermaids.
00:37:23The very earliest accounts of mermaid-like creatures reveal a connection with beings that come from the sky.
00:37:35A story from ancient Syria that dates back to 1000 BC,
00:37:40relates that the goddess Atargetus came down from the sky and dove into a lake to become a half-fish, half-human creature.
00:37:51And in Greek mythology, the goddess Aphrodite is sometimes associated with mermaid-like beings.
00:37:59If you look at some of the ancient classic authors from the Greeks, from the Sumerians,
00:38:05you see tales of mermaids in which there is a very direct connection with the heavens,
00:38:12with a fish-like creature that comes from outer space.
00:38:16There's something out there that may not even be connected to our known biological world.
00:38:24For ancient astronaut theorists, the strongest evidence that humanoid sea creatures not only existed,
00:38:33but came from somewhere beyond our Earth,
00:38:36can be found in the origin tale of yet another aquatic creature with human traits.
00:38:43The West African Dogons worship ancestral spirits they call the Namo,
00:38:50the first living creatures created by their sky god, Ama.
00:38:55Described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures,
00:38:59they descended from the stars in a vessel accompanied by fire and thunder.
00:39:06There's a really incredible story of the Namo that descended from the sky in a loud, noisy whirlwind that made the Earth shake when it landed.
00:39:18And their knowledge of everything was given to them by that being that descended in a whirlwind from the sky.
00:39:27Now this is interesting because we have so many traditions of extraterrestrial beings riding upon clouds,
00:39:33that you have to ask, did the Namo come from the stars?
00:39:37Were they extraterrestrial beings that came to Earth to teach the Dogon?
00:39:41Is this perhaps why they called them the monitors and the teachers?
00:39:45The legend said they described the star Sirius as being their point of origin and had very accurate information about a dwarf star called Sirius B that wasn't even known at the time.
00:40:00The Dogon said that when the Namo landed and came out of this craft that they arrived in, they almost immediately got into the water.
00:40:11Because they were essentially fish-like humanoids, it seems that they needed to be in the water.
00:40:17We are definitely dealing with some sort of intelligent aquatic humanoid species that came here as an extraterrestrial visitor from outer space.
00:40:30Might the detailed descriptions of the Namo suggest that they were extraterrestrials that came from space to inhabit our oceans?
00:40:42And might these be the same beings that are described in the accounts of the Kappa and mermaids?
00:40:49Ancient astronaut theorists say yes, and suggest this otherworldly connection may also explain the existence of legendary sea monsters.
00:41:04You know, just like we have these multiple accounts of these humanoid amphibious creatures around the world, we also have stories of sea monsters.
00:41:16Right, for example, these giant octopus creatures like the Kraken, or for example, the Loch Ness monster.
00:41:23Yeah, and we have reports of UFOs over Loch Ness.
00:41:27So you have to wonder if there's not a connection between extraterrestrials and these monsters.
00:41:32We covered this in a Season 3 episode called Aliens and Monsters.
00:41:40In March 2010, a panel of 41 international experts concluded that the impact of an asteroid that smashed into Earth
00:41:50at Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula 65 million years ago probably triggered the global climate change
00:41:57that resulted in the mass extinction of the Earth's dinosaurs.
00:42:03But is there also evidence that some dinosaur species survived?
00:42:09And if so, might they also have evolved?
00:42:13Paleontologists tell us that, oh, these things have been extinct for 65 million years,
00:42:18yet they still crop up.
00:42:20And they appear to be prehistoric animals, dinosaurs literally, that have survived right down to today.
00:42:28Much like the coelacanth and alligators and sharks and turtles also have survived from those same prehistoric times.
00:42:37I believe that ancient prehistoric monsters are still living in remote areas of the world,
00:42:43either in oceans and lakes or jungle areas, to today.
00:42:52In the Highlands of Scotland, the legend of the Loch Ness Monster has long been part of Celtic and Norse folklore.
00:43:00Recorded accounts of sightings can be traced to the year 565, to the Irish monk Saint Columba,
00:43:09a powerful leader who founded monasteries in both Ireland and Scotland.
00:43:15In his journals, Columba wrote of an encounter with people bearing a man near the shores of the now fabled Loch Ness.
00:43:23They explained to Father Columba that the man who had died had been swimming in the lake and was attacked by the water beast.
00:43:32Upon hearing this, Father Columba sent his own follower into the lake.
00:43:36When the beast came after this man, Father Columba made the sign of a cross and commanded the beast not to harm the man.
00:43:42The beast fled and was never seen harming another man again.
00:43:46A lot of people don't realize how big Loch Ness is.
00:43:54It's 23 miles long, a mile wide, and at its deepest point, about 800 feet.
00:43:59And the water is very, very dark and dense.
00:44:03And so it is the prime location where, conceivably, they didn't need to surface that often.
00:44:08They would sort of bypass detection.
00:44:11When we're confronted with the Loch Ness monster or any kind of anomalous creature, the question really is where does it come from?
00:44:21Is it a remnant of the dinosaur age or is it something which is out of this world?
00:44:27We know that, for example, Saint Columba definitely felt that the lake was sacred and that there was something present there which had a religious connotation,
00:44:36which is why he went to that place to begin with.
00:44:40The intriguing thing is that there actually have been a significant number of UFO sightings over the Loch itself,
00:44:46of strange brightly lit objects hovering over the water late at night,
00:44:50which clearly aren't helicopters or aircraft or meteorites or anything like that at all.
00:44:55So, in other words, Loch Ness is a weird and spooky place.
00:44:59Could the so-called sea monsters of Loch Ness possibly be descendants of ancient dinosaurs?
00:45:12Or might it be of another, perhaps, extraterrestrial origin?
00:45:16And if so, what might this say about other mythical sea beasts like the seven-headed Sumerian sea monster, the Leviathan?
00:45:25The Leviathan is sometimes described as a serpent or a crocodile or a dragon, but it lurks.
00:45:32It is the gatekeeper to a portal to hell.
00:45:35And this gateway to hell is apparently deep in the ocean and the Leviathan is there forever lurking.
00:45:45In Greek myths, the Hydra was described as an ancient sea serpent with many heads.
00:45:51It was said to be a descendant of the Earth goddess, Gaia.
00:45:58Hercules was sent to kill the Hydra.
00:46:01But it was terribly difficult.
00:46:02He would slice off the head and two heads would form.
00:46:06He had to ask help from his nephew.
00:46:08And his nephew had a brilliant idea.
00:46:11Bring a torch.
00:46:12Fire might keep the heads from forming.
00:46:15So Hercules would bash off one of the heads and his nephew would essentially cauterize the next so that another one wouldn't form.
00:46:21And in this way, the Hydra was finally defeated.
00:46:25In the case of a Hydra, we have something which has several heads, which is once again a category of a creature which you would expect not to see.
00:46:33So we are either confronted here with something which was genetically engineered or which genetically went wrong.
00:46:40But clearly it was of such importance that it was adhered to in mythology, where it attained a status over the years, over the centuries, up until this moment in time.
00:46:51According to Scandinavian legend, the kraken are legendary sea monsters of gargantuan size.
00:47:03And are said to have roamed the seas off the coasts of Norway and Iceland.
00:47:08This fearsome beast was infamous for its attacks on sailing ships.
00:47:13The danger was not only being attacked by the kraken.
00:47:17They would come up to the surface and were enormous, the size of small islands.
00:47:21So you could have a collision with a kraken that wasn't even out to attack you.
00:47:26Another great danger was that if it submerged suddenly, it formed such a great whirlpool that it could pull a ship under.
00:47:37Could such legendary sea monsters have actually existed?
00:47:42Might they have escaped extinction in the safety of cold, deep waters?
00:47:47And if so, what other alien life might be lurking beneath the surface?
00:47:57When we talk about strange underwater creatures, it's not just, you know, things we find in mythology.
00:48:03And in fact, there are some really bizarre underwater creatures that we know really exist.
00:48:08Yeah, we now have the technology to explore the deepest parts of our oceans.
00:48:12We're finding creatures that are so strange that even some scientists are calling them aliens of the sea.
00:48:18Right. And what's even more mind blowing is that astronauts have found evidence that some of these aquatic life forms can survive in the vacuum of space.
00:48:29Now, how exciting is that?
00:48:36August 19th, 2014.
00:48:41During a routine cleaning, Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station discover something incredibly unexpected covering parts of the windows, living sea plankton.
00:48:53According to some mainstream scientists, the tiny organisms may have been carried to the station on air currents from the Earth's oceans, or perhaps launched into space on a contaminated rocket.
00:49:08But many say these are both highly improbable scenarios.
00:49:13In the previous episode of cleaning, which was only about a few weeks prior to that particular date, there was nothing found.
00:49:22And the space station was in orbit. There was no connection with the ground.
00:49:28So I really think that there's absolutely no chance that these are microorganisms that were somehow lifted from the Earth.
00:49:35Astrobiologist Chandra Wickroma Singer believes the plankton is of extraterrestrial origin and evidence of panspermia, the idea that life exists throughout the universe and is spread by comets and asteroids.
00:49:53I think what happened was that a small fragment of a comet that carried microorganisms, including plankton, landed on the window of the International Space Station.
00:50:08It's not surprising if one accepts the idea that life is continuing to arrive at the Earth from space.
00:50:16There's always been a problem about life on Earth. Did it actually start here on Earth or come here from somewhere else?
00:50:24Seeing as we don't know how life began, it's up for grabs.
00:50:30But whether life originated on Earth or somewhere else in the universe, one thing is now certain.
00:50:37Sea plankton can survive in outer space.
00:50:40Surviving space is very difficult, obviously, primarily because of the vacuum of space and then the intense radiation.
00:50:49And so those things in general were sort of rip apart tissues.
00:50:53So the presence of plankton on the space station is remarkable.
00:50:59The discovery of plankton on the International Space Station has led ancient astronaut theorists to ask the question,
00:51:07if sea life can thrive in the furthest reaches of space, could the reverse be true as well?
00:51:15Might there be undiscovered alien life forms dwelling in the deepest regions of our oceans?
00:51:27Portsmouth, England, December 21st, 1872.
00:51:32The HMS Challenger sets out on a three-year scientific expedition to survey the Earth's oceans and search for new marine life.
00:51:43At the time of its departure, the mainstream scientific viewpoint is that life cannot exist more than 1,800 feet beneath the surface of the ocean.
00:51:54But in March of 1875, after more than two years at sea, the crew of the HMS Challenger makes a remarkable discovery.
00:52:07Using a deep sea dredge, they uncover an abundance of life at depths well beyond 1,800 feet.
00:52:14Every time they dredged the waters of the ocean, they kept bringing up weirder and weirder creatures at deeper and deeper levels.
00:52:23It quickly became apparent that the oceans are teeming with life.
00:52:29Throughout time, we tend to sort of impose our own limitations and our own perspectives on sort of our view of the universe, right?
00:52:36And so our idea of the deep ocean was similar to that, too.
00:52:40We thought that probably nothing else could live at great depths because we certainly couldn't survive.
00:52:45Our bodies couldn't take the pressure.
00:52:47Sort of biased, I think, our interpretation of life in the deep ocean.
00:52:51They found over 4,700 different types of new life.
00:52:58It was a wealth of data so vast that it filled 50 volumes with 30,000 pages of information and was essentially a scientific revolution for its time.
00:53:12It was fascinating that it only was five scientists, 220-plus crew, only five scientists.
00:53:21And only five scientists in about three years, they made oceanography.
00:53:25They made modern science.
00:53:27And the reason for that why they did it is because they blindly go where no man goes before.
00:53:31And this is what scientists should do.
00:53:34In addition to finding new species of marine life,
00:53:38the Challenger crew also made the first discovery of what are called cosmic spherules, nickel-iron micrometeorites from outer space.
00:53:50According to some scientists, these spherules could be capable of carrying extraterrestrial life.
00:53:58A lot of those rocks would have carried a microbial cargo cocooned inside of rocks.
00:54:03A microbe could be quite happy in the harsh conditions of space.
00:54:07In particular, it would be shielded from radiation by the depth of rock.
00:54:11It could probably stay in a dormant phase out in space for certainly thousands, if not millions of years.
00:54:19When scientists explored these nickel-iron spherules in depth, they discovered that they contained iron that was extraterrestrial in origin.
00:54:28Is it possible that these extraterrestrial substances were brought here by alien beings and deposited in the oceans of Earth, along with other forms of life?
00:54:40Is it possible that the Challenger discovered the conveyance of extraterrestrial life on the sea floor?
00:54:57Might the deepest parts of the ocean be as alien to us as the farthest reaches of outer space?
00:55:03Ancient astronaut theorists believe the answer is a resounding yes, and point to other strange creatures that have recently been found in the seemingly inhospitable deep.
00:55:16March 2005, scientists off the coast of Easter Island discover the Yeti crab, a furry crustacean that thrives on the sea floor near hydrothermal vents, fissures that release geothermally heated water.
00:55:36Using the hair that covers its body, the crab is able to filter out the toxic minerals the vents excrete.
00:55:47But as extraordinary as the Yeti crab is, it is just one of many forms of marine life known to be able to exist in such extreme conditions.
00:55:59Because of the unique conditions that exist in the hydrothermal vents, some really interesting and remarkable organisms can be found there.
00:56:12Another newly discovered organism that puzzles scientists is the tenophor, or comb jelly.
00:56:18When neurobiologist Leonid Moroz sequenced the DNA of this translucent creature at the University of Florida in 2007, he discovered they possessed a complex nervous system completely different from the entire animal kingdom.
00:56:37In fact, tenefors have two nervous systems, not only one.
00:56:41And each of this nervous system is different from our nervous system.
00:56:47And apparently it's involved independently from the nervous system and the rest of the animals.
00:56:52So tenefors are a master of regenerations.
00:56:56They can regenerate their brain.
00:56:59In one of the animals, I did it four times.
00:57:02I removed this brain, let it live for two days.
00:57:05For two days, it's regenerated, then it removed again, and it grows back again.
00:57:12But what is most interesting is they can also heal wounds in two and a half hours and no scar left.
00:57:19So in fact, they not only can make neurons independently from us, they can make it fast.
00:57:25And they can make it different.
00:57:26How comb jellies function continues to baffle scientists and their unique properties have led Dr. Moroz to dub them, quote, aliens of the sea.
00:57:40I call them aliens of the sea in terms of their reference to another animals.
00:57:46They're different from the rest of the animals much more than you are different from a sponge.
00:57:51We're still finding incredible creatures in the ocean, creatures that we never even knew existed.
00:57:57Could be extraterrestrial life.
00:57:59It's a big planet, and there are a lot of mysteries still here.
00:58:03Could there really be alien life thriving in Earth's oceans?
00:58:08And if so, might our waters harbor not only extraterrestrial marine life, but also advanced, intelligent beings?
00:58:17Perhaps further evidence can be found in the accounts of mysterious flying objects rising from the depth of the sea.
00:58:31You know, we really live in the most exciting of times because for the first time ever, we get to see video that was shot by Navy pilots showing unidentified craft flying into and out of the ocean.
00:58:46Yeah, and that's really exciting footage.
00:58:49And what we call USOs, or unidentified submerged objects, have been reported by the military going back decades.
00:58:56Right, and there was one case where they detected a USO at a depth of more than 20,000 feet.
00:59:02We featured this in a 2013 episode, Aliens and Forbidden Islands.
00:59:09March 1963.
00:59:1375 miles off the coast of Puerto Rico.
00:59:16While training in anti-submarine maneuvers, the United States Navy's fleet, led by the USS Wasp aircraft carrier, detects an unknown sonar target moving in the nearby waters.
00:59:30For four days, the fleet tracked the unknown object, recording its speed at more than 150 knots, or 170 miles per hour.
00:59:44There is nothing in any naval inventory anywhere in the world that can approach anything remotely that speed. Not then, not now.
00:59:57Moreover, the object descended to a depth of something like 27,000 feet.
01:00:02Again, another impossibility. The pressures down there are vastly too much.
01:00:07They would crush any vessel that went down that deep.
01:00:10At that time, the technology that we had, the best that we could do underwater was about 45 knots and a maximum depth of about 3,000 feet.
01:00:19For the last 100, 200 years, there have been many, many accounts of objects that have been seen underwater.
01:00:30But exactly what they are, we still do not know.
01:00:34There has been a tremendous surge of UFO sightings in Puerto Rico since the early 1990s.
01:00:40And for many of the Puerto Rican witnesses, they are absolutely convinced that there is some sort of massive futuristic installation deep below Puerto Rico under the ocean bed.
01:00:55Is it possible that aliens have bases here on Earth, hidden deep underwater, and off the coasts of islands?
01:01:05Could this explain why so many islands around the world have stories of unexplained sightings of objects both overhead and beneath the sea?
01:01:20Isolated islands would be a perfect location for, say, extraterrestrial beings to make their base of operations.
01:01:28Radar could spot any kind of craft in orbit very quickly.
01:01:32However, if you had your base underwater near an island, a lot more difficult to be discovered.
01:01:41Islands are essentially mountains that are mostly underwater.
01:01:46What they are, in essence, is energetic upwellings of the energy of the Earth pushing higher and higher and higher.
01:01:54Logically, these types of locations would be very attractive to visitors from another world,
01:01:58especially visitors that would be looking for an ideal place to set up a base or a landing spot,
01:02:05or simply a place where they could draw some of the Earth's energy.
01:02:08The Aleutian Islands.
01:02:16Just off the Alaskan coast, this chain of more than 100 small islands extends west for 1,100 miles,
01:02:24separating the Bering Sea from the Pacific Ocean.
01:02:29Here in the summer of 1945, 14 crew members of the United States Army Transport Delaroff reported seeing what they believed to be a large UFO emerge from the waters near the island of Adak.
01:02:50It's reported that a round object that appeared dark against the setting sun at the time actually rose up vertically into the air and then circled the boat two or possibly three times and was visible for about seven or eight minutes before it vanished.
01:03:12Something that comes out of the water circles around and then takes off like that, that's well beyond anything we're supposed to have.
01:03:21And they're in the middle of the ocean, that's the important thing to remember here.
01:03:25There's just nothing, nothing that's supposed to be there and yet there's activity being reported there.
01:03:30UFO sightings around the Aleutian Islands continue to this day.
01:03:39But why?
01:03:41Is it perhaps more than mere coincidence that the native people known as the Aleuts believe this is the exact spot where their ancestors first descended from the skies?
01:03:52The Aleuts believe they descended from a creature that had come from the sky.
01:04:02Dog actually had fallen to the island of Umnak and had had two pups with paws.
01:04:09But the children that came from those two were perfect humans.
01:04:14So by way of this descent from the heavens and by way of animal form, we get the Aleutian people.
01:04:22I find it intriguing that the Aleuts origin story has something to do with them having arrived from the sky, essentially saying that they have been seated.
01:04:34So the fact that to this day, that area of the world is considered a hotspot for UFOs is not coincidence.
01:04:47There have been rumors that there is an underground alien or UFO base in the Aleutian Islands.
01:04:54The question is, could a base really exist there? And the answer is yeah.
01:04:57There's plenty of places, knolls, atolls, volcanoes, where if hollowed out, they would pretty much make ideal bases for UFOs to use to come and go as they please and to investigate that area.
01:05:13Could there really be a connection between the high number of UFO sightings and the Aleuts origin story?
01:05:20And if these sacred accounts are rooted in reality, as ancient astronaut theorists suggest, might evidence be found underwater?
01:05:32Perhaps the undeniable proof lies on the other side of the world with the extraordinary discovery of a submerged city.
01:05:42You know, to me, some of the most exciting discoveries come when we find that a story we thought was fiction is actually based on historical fact.
01:05:52Right.
01:05:54One of the best examples of that is the discovery of Dwarka.
01:05:56Oh, absolutely. And according to the ancient Hindu texts, that was a site where a cosmic battle between rival gods happened who had access to flying machines and the most incredible of weaponry.
01:06:09And what's so cool is that archaeologists found underwater ruins that many believe are the remnants of exactly that city.
01:06:19Right. And this shows you that some of the best evidence for ancient astronaut theory is actually underwater.
01:06:25In 2001, researchers from India's Oceanic Institute detected anomalies on the bottom of the Gulf of Combat, seven miles from shore.
01:06:39They had been commissioned by the Indian government to do a survey of pollution in the Gulf of Combat up in the northwest of India.
01:06:50And they were not expecting to find anything except a mess down there.
01:06:55But suddenly their side scan sonar started returning images of regular structures.
01:07:02The images revealed an enormous network of stone buildings now shrouded in mud and sand and covering an area of five square miles.
01:07:14What we're looking at in the Gulf of Combat are the remains of cities.
01:07:19It's actually two of them.
01:07:20And it turns out that they are positioned on the side of ancient river channels.
01:07:25They look like cities that have been submerged for a very long time at a time when mainstream archaeology tells us there were no cities anywhere in the world.
01:07:34Powerful cross currents made it nearly impossible to dive the 170 feet to the bottom.
01:07:43Still, scientists retrieved dozens of artifacts, including wood and pottery shards.
01:07:51Some of the dates on some of the human artifacts that were brought up extended as far back as 32,000 years.
01:08:02But the oceanographers concluded that the area had been covered by water about 9,000 years ago.
01:08:11So this city had apparently existed from 32,000 to about 9,000 years ago.
01:08:20Mainstream scholars today claim that ancient Indian civilization only goes back 4,000 or 5,000 years.
01:08:28Yet, Hindu scholars themselves say that Hindu civilization is going back many tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of years.
01:08:39Might the ruins below the Gulf of Combat prove the Hindu scholars right?
01:08:45Another recent discovery may support their claims.
01:08:48200 miles to the northwest lies the modern city of Tuarka.
01:08:58Archaeologists digging deep under the city found signs of a settlement once inundated by the sea.
01:09:05Inspired by this clue, they began searching for more ruins in waters just off the coast.
01:09:14In only 70 feet of water, divers discovered sandstone walls, cobblestone streets, and evidence of a prosperous seaport.
01:09:27Scholars declared these ruins to be remains of the ancient and legendary city of Duarka.
01:09:37Ancient Hindu texts explain that the legendary city of Duarka was said to be the dwelling place of Lord Krishna, a deity worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism.
01:09:50Imagine what it would mean for the Christian world to all of a sudden discover the actual Holy Grail, the actual Ark of the Covenant.
01:10:03That would be akin for the Indian population to discover an actual Duarka.
01:10:09This was a very powerful city which was ruled by Lord Krishna, and Krishna is still revered until today.
01:10:19It's one of the highest gods that we have in Hindu culture.
01:10:25Hindu texts explain that a king named Shalva attacked Lord Krishna in the mythical Duarka.
01:10:31Ancient astronaut theorists believe the descriptions of the battle suggest the use of alien technology, and even spacecraft.
01:10:44According to the ancient Sanskrit texts, with this spacecraft, Shalva attacked the city, raining down energy weapons that resemble lightning.
01:10:55He destroyed large parts of the city in this way.
01:11:02When this happened, the king of the city, the god Krishna, responded by firing weapons at this spacecraft.
01:11:15The weapons are described as arrows, but they're not ordinary arrows.
01:11:18It's said that they roared like thunder when they were launched and resembled bolts of lightning or rays of the sun.
01:11:27In response, it is said that the spacecraft began to appear in different places simultaneously.
01:11:38It appeared to be moving in ways that resemble modern descriptions of UFOs.
01:11:45So what I find interesting about this account is there's a spacecraft made of metal that is firing down weapons on a city on earth.
01:11:58The legend says that Krishna eventually departed earth, and the ocean consumed his city of Duarka.
01:12:05For many people, the description of fabulous ancient cities and the Sanskrit writings of India were simply mythology.
01:12:16But with the discovery of the remains of a sunken city off the coast of India and the location of Duarka, all that has changed.
01:12:26People are beginning to look at these ancient writings in a new light and see them not simply as mythology, but as actual historical records.
01:12:40Did India's ancestors witness a war between extraterrestrial entities?
01:12:50If the mythical city cited in the Hindu texts turned out to be real, could there also be evidence of Krishna and his supernatural powers?
01:12:59Ancient alien theorists believe a link between the submerged ruins and extraterrestrials can be found in another set of texts known as India's Sangam literature.
01:13:17Sangams were assemblies of sages.
01:13:24It says that the first two Sangams took place on a sunken landmass called Kumari Kandam.
01:13:32This area was once above water thousands of years ago, according to the accounts, but it's now under water.
01:13:41It's also interesting that these assemblies of sages included extraterrestrial beings as well.
01:13:50And this fits in with evidence discovered in the Gulf of Kambay and off the coast of the present city of Duarka.
01:14:01Are the interpretations of India's ancient texts proof of alien contact in Earth's past?
01:14:16And are the descriptions of gods actually descriptions of extraterrestrials?
01:14:21Perhaps another discovery, one beneath a mysterious lake, will yield even more evidence of alien visitors in the remote past.
01:14:39The Andes Mountains, Peru.
01:14:41Here, at an elevation of 12,500 feet, lie the dark waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable body of water in the world.
01:14:55In August of 2000, an Italian team of divers and archaeologists launched an underwater investigation of the legendary lake.
01:15:04There, submerged under 100 feet of water, the team uncovered traces of a paved road, a stone terrace, and a wall nearly a half mile long.
01:15:18For centuries, local legends have spoken of a lost underwater city called Wanaku.
01:15:24Could these ruins provide proof that such a city did, in fact, exist?
01:15:31Then, another shocking discovery.
01:15:35Lying on the lake bed was a large sculptured stone head.
01:15:41Could this ancient relic offer a clue to the origins of this incredible archaeological find?
01:15:47Comparisons were quickly made to similar stone work found at the nearby ancient city of Tiahuanaco, just 12 miles south of Lake Titicaca.
01:16:01A city long thought by ancient astronaut theorists to have extraterrestrial origins.
01:16:06When the early conquistadors talked to the local Amara Indians, they were told that giants at the beginning of creation had created Tiahuanaco.
01:16:22The Spanish, too, were amazed by the gigantic blocks of stone.
01:16:28They felt that the devil had built this building.
01:16:31If you look at some of the rock cut and megalithic structures in the site of Tiahuanaco, I personally believe very strongly that we are looking at an older episode of construction.
01:16:46And the traces of a forgotten episode in the human story.
01:16:52But if the ruins found at the bottom of Lake Titicaca are from the legendary lost city of Wanaku,
01:16:59what happened to it?
01:17:02Did it fall prey to a major earthquake or other natural disaster?
01:17:07Or was the city, as some ancient astronaut theorists believe, deliberately flooded?
01:17:14The more you know about Lake Titicaca, the stranger it gets.
01:17:18Archaeologists have problems in really explaining why there are sunken ruins there, because they're saying that the ruins aren't that old.
01:17:31They're only 1,500 years old.
01:17:34And that would mean that Lake Titicaca has gone through a number of major changes in that period.
01:17:41And it's possible that somehow the lake itself and the shorelines were manipulated so that certain areas of Lake Titicaca were flooded in a sort of artificial way.
01:17:53There is a type of seahorse that lives in Lake Titicaca, and seahorses are coming from salt water and oceans.
01:18:06Yet these seahorses are living at nearly 13,000 feet in the Andes.
01:18:11But just how could an ancient people have artificially created South America's largest lake?
01:18:20A lake that is 118 miles long and 50 miles wide?
01:18:24When you ask the local population, how did all of this come into being, the Aymara Indians will tell you that all of this has existed since before the beginning of time.
01:18:40In the Aymara legends, the lake is like the place of Genesis, the place where it starts all the civilizations in our continent.
01:18:52These very, very, very old roads.
01:18:55I mean, we're not talking only about this civilization, this humanity.
01:18:59We are talking about our seeds, the roots of the stars.
01:19:03Some people believe that extraterrestrial build, but what I believe is that the Space Brothers help us, direct us, teach us, because they had the experience in many ways.
01:19:22The legend says that once the Space Brothers came to this planet, and they used to live with us, and they were very important in our lives, and they used to be very powerful people.
01:19:37But is it possible that the lost city of Wanaku was really built or inhabited by the ancient ancestors of the indigenous Aymara people?
01:19:54And if so, could it have been deliberately flooded to avoid detection from the outside world?
01:20:00The elders, they used to talk about the underwater city.
01:20:07The elders, they used to talk about the underwater city.
01:20:10They talk about the lights like stars connecting with the lake.
01:20:15The stars, when they come down to the lake, there is changes in the temperatures.
01:20:23There is many legends with lights coming from the outside world.
01:20:28the underground of the lake.
01:20:31It seems they come, they go, and they return in the different moments.
01:20:37You'd start to get the idea that there's some kind of ancient alien underwater base.
01:20:44And it's possible that some of these sunken ruins are somehow part of that base.
01:20:50Could the ancient city of Wanaku really have been built by alien visitors?
01:21:00And if so, why?
01:21:03What was their purpose?
01:21:05Could the discovery of this and other sunken cities provide the evidence that mankind has been seeking for centuries?
01:21:12Evidence that proves we are not alone.
01:21:19These mysterious underwater structures really don't have any context or any background, but just seem to come from nowhere.
01:21:26They seem to stand out as being out of place in time.
01:21:29So there's some question marks, some mysteries surrounding them that might shed new light on human history.
01:21:36Atlantis, Lake Titicaca, Dwarka.
01:21:41All those ancient mystery places always have had a connection to the gods.
01:21:49The gods who, in the ancient astronaut opinion, were flesh and blood extraterrestrials.
01:21:56And in the end, the ancient astronaut theory will be proven right.
01:22:09The more we'll discover on our ocean floor, the more we'll understand that our history goes way far deeper into our past
01:22:16than what we've been told because it's right there.
01:22:19It's right there, but it's being ignored.
01:22:21Yeah, there's so much more out there to discover.
01:22:24I mean, we've only just scratched the surface.
01:22:27Yeah, so humanity is more and more being forced to face that we have this lost history, this lost ancient past, and it's underwater.
01:22:34And these stories make it really clear that maybe we should be concentrating our effort on going deeper into our oceans
01:22:41instead of trying to go deeper into space.
01:22:46We'll see you next time.
