00:18A no-nonsense directive on all men and women of the uniform to absolutely abstain from celebratory indiscriminate firing of their firearms

00:27during the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day celebrations.

00:30This reminder echoed today by the force explicitly commands, in no uncertain terms, all PNP officers and personnel,

00:39the seriousness of the one-strike policy on the New Year gunfire ban and severe repercussions of violating the ban.

00:46This includes dismissal from the force.

00:49Then again, the reiterated command comes in the wake of the gruesome firecracker-related fatalities in Tondo

00:56where a 12-year-old kid perished in the Gupad, where two lost their lives from an illegal firecracker factory explosion

01:03and over 100 injuries sustained from the firecracker blast all across the nation over the past two weeks.

01:11Malacanang said,

01:12President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is keeping his eyes on the price and remains unfazed by survey ratings

01:18as his administration intensifies its anti-corruption drive, especially against anomalous flood control projects.

01:26Despite Pulse Asia showing continued negative public sentiment toward the president,

01:32palace officials stressed that ratings are merely a compass, not the steering wheel of governance.

01:37Palace press officer and communications undersecretary Claire Castro emphasized

01:42that the president is willing to bite the bullet and accept political cause if it means doing what is right,

01:49even when it is not popular.

01:51She added that the chief executive knowingly walks a tightrope choosing public accountability over political comfort

01:58for the sake of the nation.

02:00Castro also pointed out that high approval ratings in the past administrations did not automatically clean house.

02:07noting that popularity does not always put heads on the shopping block for corruption.

02:13In the world news, U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran and Hamas of severe consequences

02:19as he appeared alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,

02:24projecting a United stance on regional security.

02:27Trump threatened press strikes to prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear or missile capabilities

02:33and said Hamas would face hell to pay if it fails to disarm under the Gaza ceasefire terms.

02:40It is missed reports of tensions, with Netanyahu insisting Israel has met its obligations

02:46and placing responsibility on Hamas, which has refused to surrender its weapons.

02:51Iran, meanwhile, responded with a warning of its own,

02:55saying any new aggression would trigger an immediate and harsh retaliation.
