00:09All prepped to respond to incidents that may go awry as a result of pyros and fireworks
00:14and indiscriminate stray bullet firings.
00:17And the nation's top cop has some choice words for pyrobags or fire-cracking fiends who set
00:22tires afire on the road and those who deliberately harm people or property by way of pyros or
00:28fireworks.

00:33A day before the New Year's celebration, the Philippine National Police or PNP has recorded
00:38incidents of stray bullet firings and indiscriminate shooting.
00:42According to PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo, four cases of stray
00:46bullets have been reported.
00:47Three of them are from the NCR and the other one from Region 9.
00:52Meanwhile, 15 cases of indiscriminate firing have been recorded.
00:56Four are from the NCR, six from Calabarzon, two from Region 7, and one each from Regions
01:029 and 11.
01:03The number of firecracker-related injuries also continues to rise, now exceeding 500,
01:28according to the PNP.
01:29The PNP reminds the public to welcome the New Year safely and avoid illegal fireworks.
01:34Earlier, Philippine National Police Chief Police General Romel Francisco Marbil directed
01:39all personnel to prioritize public safety and security during the New Year's celebration.
01:45The PNP chief issued the statement to ensure a peaceful celebration and to reaffirm the
01:51readiness of the police to respond to emergencies, including fires and fireworks-related incidents.
01:57The PNP has first-aid responders on standby for firecracker victims and vows to support
02:02the Bureau of Fire Protection in putting out fires if need be.
02:06Marbil warned anyone who burns tires to block roads hinders emergency response and will
02:12face appropriate penalties.
02:14In addition, the PNP chief urged the public to be cautious of the dangers posed by firecrackers
02:19and fireworks.
