00:00I had this girlfriend back in high school. I found her after prom in a bathroom and four years ago
00:05I was diagnosed with cancer. Given our continued fallout from the mess Monica in Blair London created
00:11Wesley Evers has been assigned here to make sure we're flying right.
00:15Now I'm supposed to work next to Angel Lopez when all I can think about is how much I want him.
00:18Malvado is a myth. The criminal equivalent of the boogeyman.
00:22Well apparently Southern Front hired him to kill Jason.
00:25We have the same goal. All you have to do is leave and your problems go away.
00:29I can't do that.
00:35I know you like oat milk but the store was out so I got almond. I hope that's okay.
00:41Hello my beautiful wife. Hey, I just wanted to check in and see how it's going with my newer
00:46replacement model. Hi Bailey. Yeah, she's not a replacement. She's a bait. And no one could
00:51replace you because you are awesome. Thank you. Now is this really necessary? We have U.S. Marshals
00:57watching the house 24-7 and Jason is being hunted by a hitman. Can I please come home?
01:03Yeah, you can 100% come home if you can look me in the eye and tell me that Jason's not a relentless
01:08psychopath that would risk everything to get back at you for betraying him.
01:12Okay, fine. You win. But I'm climbing the walls here.
01:15No offense. Gun taken. I totally get it. I mean, with Rachel here it is a little snug. Hey.
01:21Oh, so have we had any movement on the mystery woman that Jason is supposedly shacked up with?
01:25No, but given Jason's history, I would say she's probably the lonely wealthy type.
01:30Yeah, which would give him the resources to stay under the radar.
01:33Okay. Well, if I can't come home, can you please pack up some of my things and give them to Lucy?
01:38I'll text you a list. Yeah, of course. And uh...
01:40Maybe a little later we can find some personal time.
01:48There will be no personal time until we're in our own bed.
01:51I will have Jason caught by tonight.
01:58Hey, I just want to reiterate I know what I did last week was wrong.
02:02And I take no delight in any of the public fanfare around my hero moment that our hero
02:09moment that we had together. I just, I fell out of my groove with the whole
02:13TO swap thing. So I'm just, I'm happy to be back with my OG.
02:17Oh God.
02:19No one likes to suck up Ridley. Let's go.
02:21Yes, ma'am.
02:22Anything you want to add to this sad mea culpa?
02:24I'm not looking for any extra credit, sir. I just want to be prepared as possible for whatever the day hopes.
02:29Preparation is only half the battle.
02:31All I care about is how you perform on the streets when your adrenaline's high
02:33and you want to be an action star.
02:35Yes, sir. I'll keep the wild horse locked in the stable, sir.
02:40Check your phone on your own time, please.
02:41Yes, ma'am.
02:44Oh wow, I just keep coming in.
02:46Okay, seriously, what's going on right now?
02:48I'm sorry. I'm just, I'm waiting on my test results to come in. I'm a little bit paranoid.
02:52Oh, that's right. Well, um, did you get any news?
02:55No. These are just notifications that my name's being mentioned somewhere online.
02:59Are you serious?
03:02Yeah, sorry. I'll put it away.
03:04Oh, okay.
03:05Wow, they just, they're good. They're nice comments.
03:08Airplane mode.
03:09Right.
03:12Hey, Mr. Evers.
03:13Welcome back.
03:14Hi.
03:14Sean, hey.
03:18I just wanted to be here to welcome you back. The office wasn't the same without you.
03:21I mean, I'm glad to be back, as is the entire Midwilshire Station. Apparently they don't appreciate
03:26oversight.
03:26Yeah, well, look, I'm sure you have a lot to catch up on, but the district attorney election is right
03:31around the corner, and I just wanted to be sure I could count on your endorsement, man.
03:34Hmm.
03:36Wesley, oh, you are aging backwards.
03:40I just wanted to say welcome back and make sure you're all squared, pen-wise.
03:44Oh, thank you.
03:45Nice try, Vivian, but you're not going to buy your way to a win here.
03:48Don't you find an insecure man such a turnoff?
03:52I am light years from insecure.
03:55Anyway, I would love your endorsement.
03:57Okay.
03:58Okay. Bye.
03:59Okay. You know, in my younger days, she really would have gotten under my skin.
04:04Right. Definitely not now.
04:06No.
04:07Hey, Sean.
04:09You have five minutes to talk about something that's been
04:12eating away at the very core of who I am?
04:14Well, that sounds like it's going to take longer than five minutes, but yeah, sure. Okay.
04:18Thanks. You're really the only person I can talk to about this.
04:24I heard something on the Blair London tapes that has got me spinning.
04:27I thought you turned in your final report on those.
04:29No, I did. It's not criminal. It's...
04:31You know Keith Graham from Mid-Wilshire?
04:34Yeah, sure. He's a great guy. Annoyingly handsome.
04:36I mean, he's a solid detective. He was seeing Blair?
04:39Yeah. And during his sessions, he revealed that he has recurring
04:45intimate dreams about Angela.
04:47Yikes.
04:48Yeah.
04:50Well, look, you know that legally you cannot divulge any of that to her.
04:54That's a violation of his privacy, and that puts the two of them in an incredibly
04:58uncomfortable position. I know, but it's driving me crazy.
05:01Why? Wes, you know, it seems to me it comes down to how secure you are in your marriage.
05:07He's definitely not the first guy to hit on your hot wife. He certainly won't be the last.
05:13Wait. Did you?
05:15I plead the fifth.
05:33All right, this is not going to be easy. When the CHP calls for mutual aid,
05:37usually because things have gotten messy, even for LA.
05:45Now, wrecks like these are all about problem solving and accuracy. We have to be exact with
05:51every word in our reports. Our measurements can't be off, not even by an inch. That would mean a
05:56change in liability, and then a half-decent lawyer could use that to discredit our entire investigation.
06:01Well, that's mildly terrifying.
06:02Which is why I'm making you primary.
06:04What?
06:05It's your fears, Officer Juarez.
06:06But I...
06:07You can handle this. Tell me you can handle this.
06:09I-I can handle it. I can handle it.
06:14This is going to be as fun as putting socks on a rooster.
06:17Come to Chippy's.
06:18He's like 50 feet away. He for sure could have walked.
06:23Afternoon. Thanks for the assist.
06:25Where do you want us?
06:26Given the circumstances, we think this should be an LAPD-led investigation.
06:29No problem.
06:30Where will CHP be stationed?
06:32He'll be helping out at the off-ramp.
06:34Oh, over in the shade for leaving grateful citizens from bumper to bumper traffic. That's nice.
06:38We just want the freeways up and running as quickly as possible.
06:45I told Juarez she's got primary on this.
06:47Bold. You either want to end her career right now or you honestly believe in her.
06:50What do you want us to do?
06:52Okay, well, first thing first, we-we render safety and aid to all victims.
06:56That means that our number one priority is just clearing a path for the next ambulance.
07:00I gotta take this.
07:04What's happening?
07:04Were you able to get that stuff from Lucy? She was gonna come by here at lunch and bring it to me.
07:10You forgot.
07:11Yeah, sorry. This morning's been just a little chaotic. But you stay put, I promise. I'll get it to you tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
07:16Okay. Yeah, stay safe. I love you.
07:19Love you, too.
07:20How far, boot?
07:3218.6 feet, sir.
07:34Sure about that?
07:34Positive, sir.
07:35Ridley, how far?
07:3820. No, that's 20.1, 20.2. It just keeps moving. Oh, I have to stand still. Yeah, okay. 20.2.
07:48Okay, that's right. That's right. Hey, what's next?
07:50Okay, well, now, I mean, now you take a million photos. Just make sure you get the scene from every angle.
07:56You search the cars for any open containers, alcohol, drugs. If there's any indication that this is a DUI,
08:02that changes everything. Okay? Okay.
08:04Okay.
08:11Clear.
08:15Well, hey, hey. Did you get pictures from underneath the car and above as well?
08:19No. No, sorry. Sorry. It's my bad. Listen, I understand there's a lot going on right now,
08:25but I can't be holding your hand every step of the way. Yeah.
08:28It's time to take the training wheels off, Dad. Really?
08:34Can you just lay off?
08:37You have no idea what anybody's going through, okay? My girlfriend died in high school in a car
08:41accident, and this whole thing is bringing up a lot of bad memories. I'm sorry, dude. I didn't know.
08:45Just think next time before you speak, okay?
08:47I'm sorry, sir. I thought we were checking for beer cans, not firearms. I mean, back home,
09:01every call you pull over, have a gun in the glove box.
09:04Bag this, please.
09:10R.S.?
09:11Yes, sir?
09:11What about this car? Do we have any information on this driver?
09:13Uh, no. Nobody's talked to him yet, but it is registered to a Harrison Novak.
09:19Officers! Yes, sir.
09:25Double time. Coming.
09:26You're right there.
09:28This is the LAPD. Is anyone in there? We're going to get you out. Just hang on.
09:34Please, please, please.
09:34Oh, my God.
09:36We need an ambulance!
09:38I've never seen him before, but he knew me. He was waiting. He called out Savannah,
09:46and when I turned, he sprayed me in the eyes with something. It burned really bad.
09:53I tried to run, but he hit me over the head, and the next thing I knew, I was tied up in the trunk.
10:01And we drove around forever. It felt like hours. And, uh, he was singing. He kept replaying the same dumb
10:12pop songs, singing along at the top of his lungs without a care in the world.
10:16Well, you're safe now, okay? And the good news is we know who he is. Officers are kicking down his door as we speak.
10:25Police! Harrison Novak, we have a warrant for your arrest. Ridley.
10:31Police!
10:50Clear!
10:51Clear!
10:51Clear!
10:52Clear!
10:55This place is giving me the creeps. Feels like teenage girls live here, not a 40-year-old dude.
11:00Get used to it. We're gonna be her for a minute. It's the only property registered in his name.
11:03We need to search every inch of this place. So glove up, tear it apart.
11:07Yes, sir.
11:11How bad?
11:11Physically, she should be okay. Guiding after out in public and kept in a trunk for hours.
11:16Being a woman is consistently terrifying. Then you have a daughter and it only gets worse.
11:19Harrison Novak was arrested three years ago for burglary and assault. He broke into a woman's home
11:24and choked her. Seemed open and shut, but evidence was compromised and the prosecution lost the case
11:29at trial to Novak's hotshot lawyer. Who the hell was that?
11:33Your husband. Yeah, I recognize the case. The cop screwed up the chain of evidence and I got him
11:37acquitted. Why? We found a girl in his trunk in pretty bad shape. He's currently at large, so if you
11:41can give us anything, that might help. I'll pull his file and get it to you ASAP. Let me know if
11:48there's anything else I can do. Thanks.
11:53You remember the Harrison Novak case? Uh, yeah, of course. That's the only time I lost a trial. Why?
11:58Novak just abducted a woman. Maybe not the first. Well, that's not good. For either of us.
12:04Hey, I'm sorry again for not reporting the gun, but I did find out the owner had purchased illegally
12:17and it was registered. That's not the point. The cars are frequently broken into by criminals
12:21who do not have a license to carry. A weapon not registered to them is a win for the criminal
12:25community. Understood. It won't happen again. You know what? I'm going to recommend you undergo
12:29additional training and testing all weekend, plus an additional three hours a day for the next two
12:33weeks. What? It was a simple mistake. Look, if I can't trust you to clock loaded weapons in plain sight,
12:38what else can't I trust you with?
12:52What's wrong? I lost her. She left the apartment. I got blocked in by a truck.
13:03Hello? Come on. Come on.
13:11She's ducking my call. Well, you can track her phone, right?
13:22Oh, this guy is totally a psycho. He wore his outside shoes right in the bedroom.
13:40Wait, these things got to be caked in evidence, right? Potentially. Take a photo and then bag them.
13:44Hey, uh, Ridley, can I ask you a question about something from earlier?
13:51Yeah, that's not really my favorite way to start a conversation, but sure.
13:54A few weeks ago, you told me that your girlfriend overdosed. And then earlier,
13:58I swear, I thought I heard you tell Miles that she died in a car accident.
14:01Yeah. Sorry, I should have made that more clear.
14:05Sarah didn't actually die from the OD. We got super lucky. My friend's daddy's a doctor,
14:10and he came home just in time with some naloxone. And then she died in a car accident?
14:15No, that was a different girlfriend a year later.
14:18Savannah wasn't a one-off. I found this hidden in the hallway closet.
14:23Oh, my God.
14:26More victims.
14:36Hello? Hey, counselor. Harrison Novak.
14:41You helped me out of a jam a few years ago?
14:42Of course. I'm just finishing up a meeting. Can I call you right back?
14:46That's okay. I can hold. I got time.
14:49I've got Harrison Novak on the phone. He wants me to represent him. What's my ethical obligation here?
14:53Do I have to tell him I'm no longer a defense attorney?
14:55Uh, no. But as a prosecutor, the only thing you can't do is agree to represent him.
14:58Other than that, you can tell him anything he needs to hear to keep him on the line.
15:01Okay. Angela, it's Del Monte. I've got your husband here.
15:03He's talking to Novak on the cell phone right now.
15:05Hot damn. Setting up a trace now.
15:07Okay, I'm putting out speaker.
15:09Wesley, just keep him talking as long as you can. I'll mute my phone so we can listen.
15:14All right, great. I'm going over to him now.
15:17Sorry to keep you waiting. How can I help?
15:19No problems. Look, I know you're a very busy guy, so I will skip the foreplay.
15:23I was super impressed with how you handled my case back in the day, and I find myself in a bit of fresh legal jeopardy.
15:30How bad are we talking?
15:32I don't like to use that word, bad. It's so judgy.
15:36Good, bad, right, wrong. We're all just choices and decisions repressed people use to keep more free-thinking individuals in a box.
15:44Right. Well, I wasn't trying to judge. I just need to know a little more of what I'm getting into before I commit.
15:49Well, I can tell you this much. Most people might not like what I do, who I am, but everyone inflicts
15:56and contributes to some level of pain and suffering. Might step on a bug or cook a steak. Let's do my version of that.
16:04Only on a bigger, more connected level with larger and more conscious animals.
16:09Are you saying you've killed people?
16:10Are you saying you're my lawyer?
16:12Mr. Novak, I'm just trying to make sure we're both on the same page.
16:14This is taking longer than I'd wanted, and I have a bit of a ticking clock problem.
16:17I'd wanted to achieve so much more by the end of my story.
16:20A certain number of accomplishments to make the world take notice.
16:25So, now I find myself having to get into the volume business.
16:28Wait, why don't we get together in person and discuss?
16:31I gotta go, but don't worry. You'll probably see me later tonight on your TV.
16:34Wait.
16:35Ciao for now.
16:37Please, tell me you got a location.
16:39He's calling from Sorority Row.
16:41He's gonna pull a Ted Bundy.
16:43I'm sending every cop in the city, but I'm not sure we're gonna make it there in time.
16:46Say a prayer.
16:55Who is it?
17:04I, uh, Melanie?
17:20I think I have your package.
17:23Got delivered to my place by mistake.
17:28For you.
17:29Thanks so much.
17:30No!
17:49Police!
17:56Step away!
17:57Get it out!
17:58Get it out!
17:59Get it out!
18:00Get it out!
18:01Get it out!
18:02Get it out!
18:03Oh my God!
18:04Oh!
18:05Oh!
18:06Oh!
18:07Oh!
18:08Everybody okay?
18:09If any of you ladies are looking to join the LAPD, I'd like to offer a letter of recommendation
18:14written by me, personally.
18:16Ugh.
18:17Get back!
18:18This is a crime scene.
18:19Let me throw him in the DA's office.
18:20I need to get in there.
18:21Set back!
18:22Angela!
18:23Hold on.
18:24Angela!
18:25Stand down!
18:26He's allowed to be here.
18:27Hey, what happened in there?
18:28Please tell me no one's dead.
18:29No one is dead.
18:30In fact, he got his ass kicked.
18:31Hey, it's okay.
18:32You did good.
18:33You're the reason we got this guy.
18:34I'm also the reason that he's been free to kill innocent women for the past three years.
18:50His actions are not your fault.
18:52You're just doing your job.
18:55Hey!
18:56Thought you were too busy for me.
18:58You changed your mind.
18:59I'm not a defense lawyer anymore.
19:01Prosecutor now.
19:02Tricky.
19:03That's how the cops got here so quick.
19:05Yeah, you're lucky we did.
19:06Those girls are about to kill you.
19:08Get in.
19:09We should get him back to the station as soon as possible.
19:12He is a talker.
19:13Yeah, go.
19:14I'll be fine.
19:15You sure?
19:16Yeah.
19:17Go.
19:18Hm.
19:32Put your hands on the wheel.
19:58I'm impressed.
19:59Like I care.
20:00Who are you?
20:01Why are you following me?
20:02Did Jason send you?
20:03No.
20:04I'm the man hunting your ex-husband.
20:05Malvado.
20:06I'm not your enemy.
20:07We want the same thing.
20:08Jason dead.
20:09You're a wanted man.
20:10I should call 911.
20:11Go ahead.
20:12Have me arrested.
20:13And spend the rest of your life worrying about Jason.
20:14Or you could let me go and never have to worry about him again.
20:18Hmm.
20:19May I?
20:48This number cannot be traced.
20:51But messages will get back to me.
20:53If you hear of Jason's whereabouts, let me know.
20:58And I will put an end to your nightmare.
21:18Hey.
21:19You okay?
21:20Hey.
21:21Yeah.
21:22I'm fine.
21:23What were you thinking?
21:24Do you have any idea how dangerous this was?
21:28Oh, look.
21:29My phone is ringing.
21:31The idea was that you stay in the apartment.
21:33All of a sudden, I got marshals blowing up my phone telling me you've gone missing.
21:36You almost gave me a heart attack.
21:37Wait.
21:38How did the marshals know I left?
21:40Are they tracking my phone?
21:41We had a guy posted outside Lucy's apartment.
21:43To spy on me?
21:44To protect you.
21:45In case Jason saw through the ruse and went after you there.
21:48Can we get back in the shop, please?
21:49Why didn't you tell me?
21:50That's not the point.
21:51What were you even doing down here in the first place?
21:54It doesn't matter.
22:02Before we get started, I'd like to get us on the same page as to how we speak to each other.
22:08I mean, we may have, well, differing philosophies, but it doesn't mean we can't be cordial.
22:14To one another?
22:15You don't make the rules here.
22:17I think I kind of do.
22:20I mean, you must have a lot of very distressed families who are desperate for answers.
22:25And I am willing to tell you everything.
22:28But I expect to be treated like a person, not a monster.
22:31Sure.
22:32We can do that.
22:33We will just listen.
22:35Whatever you want to tell us.
22:37These on?
22:39Yes, you're being recorded.
22:45It's not.
22:46The killing.
22:50You'd think it would be.
22:52It's the least interesting part.
22:55The anticipation.
22:58The planning.
22:59That puts wind in my sails.
23:02The killing itself is more like eating, for me.
23:05Necessary, but not as holistically stimulating as the lead-up.
23:12Now, hunting my victims, really feeling their fear, that just fills me up.
23:31When the killing's done, I tend to feel a little empty inside.
23:38Lonely, even.
23:39So then I have to do it again.
23:44These are human beings you are talking about.
23:47You don't feel any kind of remorse.
23:49Do you feel remorse when you eat a burger?
23:52What did you do with the bodies?
23:54Buried them.
23:55Where?
23:59How about I show you?
24:05All right, you can stay here till the end of shift, and then Lucy will be here to bring you back to her apartment.
24:11I'm your wife, John. I don't work for you.
24:14And in case you've forgotten, I literally spent the last three weeks doing tactical military training in Germany.
24:19I don't need you to protect me.
24:21Nolan, Novak gave up the location of his dump site.
24:24You just on the way. I need you guys to meet him now.
24:26Right. Um, we'll finish this later.
24:28Mm-hmm.
24:29Promise. Uh, would you watch her, please?
24:33You're a grown-ass woman. I'm not babysitting.
24:54Hey.
24:55Hey there. If you really want to be shooting from the outside, I'm completely backlit.
25:03And no offense, but if you want to have an easy time selling this doc to Hulu or whatever, you want to see my face and not, uh, random cops.
25:09It's what people actually care about.
25:10Something here.
25:11Hey, we got something.
25:12Hey, we got something.
25:13Hey, we got something.
25:14Hey.
25:15Hey, we got something.
25:16Hey, we got something.
25:17Bye.
25:19Oh, he's a great time.
25:20Bye.
25:23Hey, we got something.
25:25Oh, my God.
25:26Hey.
25:27Hey.
25:28Hey.
25:29Hey.
25:30Hey.
25:31Hey.
25:32Hey.
25:33Hey.
25:34Hey, hey.
25:35Hey.
25:36Hey.
25:37Hey.
25:38Hey.
25:39Hey.
25:40Hey.
25:41Hey.
25:42Hey.
25:43A vulgar infection
25:46And a selfish heart creature
25:50With self-deception
25:58Where are they going?
25:59I don't know.
26:02I didn't even bury anyone over there.
26:13They're all wrapped the same. They must be yours.
26:21I swear to God, all my kills are back there.
26:24These aren't mine.
26:32I'm gonna have nightmares about that burial site.
26:34Shouldn't I be more hardened by now? I should, right?
26:37No, your empathy is your best quality.
26:39Really? Best quality?
26:41Well, there are certain others.
26:43Best discussed in a non-professional setting.
26:48Thanks for coming right over.
26:50Yeah, of course.
26:51You saw the bodies?
26:52Yes, we didn't unwrap any of them for fear of compromising DNA evidence.
26:55They're all being sent to our morgue facility downtown.
26:58Give us the room, guys.
27:00Hey, good to see you again.
27:02Likewise, wish it was over a cafe americano, but here we are.
27:05Hi, nice to see you.
27:06Uh, who wants to start?
27:07I will.
27:08As I told Garza, it seems clear that we have a second serial killer at large.
27:12Harrison Novak has been falling all over himself to take credit for his kills, but he seemed genuinely shocked when we uncovered those bodies.
27:18You think he knows who the second killer is?
27:20Maybe, but it feels unlikely. I agree with Nyla.
27:22Novak seemed totally thrown by the bodies and worried that this killer would somehow overshadow him.
27:27Okay, so what's our first step?
27:29Mine is a thorough examination of all the victims, which will take days, if not weeks.
27:34In the short term, we need to try to figure out a connection between the two killers.
27:37Well, let's say Harper's intuition is right and Novak doesn't know the identity of the second killer.
27:42I mean, it can't be a coincidence that number two used the same green tarp to bury his victims.
27:48He's clearly piggybacking off of Novak's burial site, right?
27:51Which would indicate that killer number two is trying to hide his crimes inside Novak's.
27:55Which is a complete opposite of Harrison Novak, a killer who's desperate for recognition.
27:59How did number two know about the burial site? I mean, they must have crossed paths somewhere, right?
28:04Theoretically, but without even the slightest hint of where to start looking, we're talking about an infinitely large haystack hiding a very small needle.
28:10Hope I'm not interrupting, but I might have a smaller haystack for you to search.
28:13I dug through my notes from the Harrison Novak case file.
28:15When we first met, he mentioned that he had spent some time in a psychiatric facility.
28:19That wasn't in his file.
28:20Well, he was 15. Voluntary admission, not criminal.
28:23Which facility?
28:24Westview, out in Chatsworth.
28:25We've been there before. Director's a pill.
28:27We'll go talk to her. Do you mind expediting a warrant?
28:29She's not going to give us anything unless she has to.
28:31Yeah, consider it done.
28:33You do know not everyone suffering from mental illness is a serial killer.
28:37Of course, but we did just arrest one, and he was treated at this facility 15 years ago.
28:42So we're not just here because we heard how personable the staff is.
28:46Okay, listen, we know that this is a sensitive subject, but most serial killers suffer from some sort of psychosis or antisocial personality disorder.
28:53Nice! Which Psychology 101 book did you pull that from?
28:57I'm about to put her in a different kind of hospital.
28:59With all due respect, we just pulled more than a dozen bodies out of a field.
29:03And now we have a court order for your patient records.
29:06Either you give us access to those records now or later, after you spent the weekend in jail.
29:11Are you aware people suffering from mental illness are actually more likely to be victims of violent crime?
29:17Yes, but that's not relevant at this moment.
29:19So are you going to give us the list of patients and staff who are here with Novak or not?
29:23It'll take a while to assemble.
29:26You have 12 hours.
29:28And we don't do grace periods.
29:30I really thought you were going to hurt her there for a minute.
29:33Me too.
29:34And you weren't exactly playing good cop either.
29:36Whatever gets the job done.
29:38What?
29:39Satan Green Tarp, you want to go in?
29:54As opposed to calling in 100 cops to do it for us?
29:56No guts, no glory.
30:01Control, this is Detective Lopez.
30:03Harper and I are code six on a follow-up at Westview Psychiatric Hospital.
30:07Start up another unit in case we come across anything.
30:09Copy that, Detective.
30:10Copy that, Detective.
30:32You ready?
30:35Ready.
30:39You okay?
30:40Yeah.
30:41I'm just regretting my choice of footwear.
31:00I can't believe they still have all this equipment.
31:02You never know when the lobotomies will come back and start.
31:09There's something written here.
31:21Maybe from an old patient?
31:32I feel like I've seen this movie before.
31:34Yeah, but they didn't have guns.
31:39Control, this situation is escalating.
31:40Attach a few more units.
31:41Code three.
31:42Copy that, Detective.
31:51I am starting to regret more than just my shoe choice.
31:54No guts, no glory, remember.
31:56It's not fair using my bravada against me.
31:58Police!
31:59Stop!
32:00Police!
32:04Stop!
32:05Police!
32:06Help me!
32:07He's coming back!
32:08You have to get me out of here.
32:09He's gonna get me out of here.
32:10He's gonna get me out of here.
32:11He's gonna get me out of here.
32:12He's gonna kill us.
32:13Are there others?
32:14Does he have someone else?
32:15I don't know.
32:16Please!
32:17He needs medical attention now.
32:18Alright, go get him to safety.
32:19I got this guy.
32:20Alright, go get him to safety.
32:21I got this guy.
32:50Thanks!
33:20I don't know.
33:50I don't know.
34:20I don't know.
34:22I don't know.
34:27I don't know.
34:29Naila!
34:30Here.
34:31Are you okay?
34:33No.
34:34He injected me with something.
34:36I can't feel my legs.
34:37Okay, hang on.
34:38There's an ambulance on the way.
34:40This is Lopez.
34:41Officer down, Westview basement.
34:43Conscious and breathing but injected with some type of paralytic and can't move her legs.
34:47We need those EMTs down here now.
34:49Copy that, detective.
34:50They're on their way.
34:51It's gonna be okay.
34:54How you doing?
35:03Better.
35:04My feelings mostly back.
35:06My best guess is short term paralytic.
35:09I'll just try not to think too hard about how dirty all the needles were down there.
35:13Probably for the best.
35:14Any sign of our suspect?
35:16No.
35:17He clearly had an escape route.
35:19Psych hospital just sent the list of patients and employees.
35:22It's a lot of names.
35:23FBI's digging in.
35:24How's the guy we pulled out of there?
35:26Remy Darden.
35:28He's in rough shape.
35:29Hopefully he's stable enough in the morning to talk to us.
35:33And James will be here soon.
35:34Yes.
35:35I didn't tell him what really happened, just that you suffered a minor injury on the job.
35:39Thanks.
35:42You wanna talk about how scary that was?
35:44Nope.
35:45You wanna hug?
35:46No.
35:51Yes.
35:52Nolan.
35:53My office.
35:54Did I have to tell you this?
35:57Yes, sir.
35:58I got a call from Detroit PD.
36:13They pulled prints from a liquor store robbery last night.
36:17Were they Pete's?
36:18They were Pete's, weren't they?
36:19Jason Weilers.
36:20Detroit, Michigan?
36:22I ran a VICAP search.
36:24There was another hit on Jason's prints two days before outside of Provo.
36:28Looks like Melvato's got him spooked.
36:30He's been heading east, getting as far away from L.A. as he can.
36:33I'm a little surprised he picked survival over revenge, but I'll take it.
36:37I gave Detroit PD your info.
36:39They'll call if they have anything more.
36:41Thank you, sir.
36:42Hold up.
36:43One more thing.
36:44I've been overprotective, and if Bailey divorces me, no one will blame her.
36:49If I'm in your shoes, I'm just as crazed.
36:52But you have to live your lives.
36:54Yes, sir.
37:02Where do you think you're going?
37:04Home feels like the wrong answer, but I'm not sure why.
37:08Sawed off shotgun, dagger, nunchucks, AR-15.
37:11Which two violate the same penal code?
37:13We doing this now.
37:14You need to know the law cold, no matter how tired you are, no matter how many of the things are going on.
37:18Right.
37:19Sawed off shotgun and dagger.
37:21Violation of 1-2-0-2-0, possession of an illegal weapon.
37:24What about nunchucks?
37:25Formerly a violation of 1-2-0-2-0, but currently no violation at all.
37:29They became legal in 2023.
37:31Good.
37:32You're dismissed.
37:33Sergeant, I appreciate it.
37:36How hard you are on me and how dedicated you are at doing the job right.
37:40And I swear I'm not kissing up.
37:41Where I'm from, a lot of cops don't have that same love of diligence.
37:44Some were transplants where I fell from other departments.
37:47They didn't care the way that you do.
37:49You know, I guess I really understand how much I had to learn.
37:52So, thank you.
37:54Dismissed.
37:55Yes, sir.
37:56I know that logically, intellectually, even legally, I'm not to blame for Novak's crimes,
38:13but emotionally, I'm struggling.
38:15Well, you're not a robot, Wes.
38:18I mean, I would actually be more concerned if you felt nothing after all this.
38:22But on the bright side, at least you've forgotten about the detective who has the hots for your wife, right?
38:26Well, now I'm thinking about him.
38:28Anyway.
38:29What is this?
38:30You're having a wake for Sean's political career.
38:33Didn't invite me.
38:34I made a sound only a bat could hear. I figured that would do the trick.
38:37Oh.
38:38It is so nice to see you retain your sense of humor given the end of your campaign.
38:42I mean, who would elect a DA who is so instrumental in letting a serial killer go free?
38:48Okay, you and I both know that what happened is far more complicated than that.
38:52Of course.
38:53But voters don't do complicated.
38:55You should withdraw before you get embarrassed at the polls.
38:59Mm-hmm.
39:00Really nice to have you back.
39:01Mm-hmm.
39:04She's lovely.
39:05Mm-hmm.
39:06Oh.
39:07Third down and three inside the 25-yard line.
39:10Here's the snake.
39:11And he hands off to number two with a snake.
39:15Stay.
39:16Hey.
39:17Hey.
39:18Um, how much do you trust the LAPD background checks?
39:21I'm sorry, why are you at my door asking me that?
39:23Come on.
39:24Okay, so, Seth told me that his high school girlfriend died of an OD, but then he told Miles that she died in a car accident.
39:31I confronted him about it.
39:32He covered it pretty well, said that they were different girlfriends, but I, that, that seems pretty unlikely.
39:38I just can't shake this feeling that there's something off with him.
39:41Look, our background checks are pretty invasive.
39:43Andy would have had to pass a polygraph test, which we both know those are illuminating.
39:48If he was hiding something, I think it would have come out.
39:50You're right.
39:51But you're still not satisfied.
39:52No, I, I'm sorry, I, okay.
39:58Oh.
39:59Oh my gosh.
40:00Hey, go Joe.
40:04You like a butt scratch?
40:05I miss you.
40:07Feelings mutual.
40:13Look, I, I know it's late and I don't have much in the way of food, but I can order something.
40:17Um, oh, no, no, I should, um, I'm gonna go and so, have a good night.
40:31You too.
40:32Yeah, okay.
40:33Okay.
40:34Okay.
40:35All right.
40:38Ow.
40:39Okay.
40:47I'm happy to come back whenever you need me.
40:50I think, though, uh, you're all set.
40:52Thanks for the offer.
40:55I'm happy you're back.
40:56Oh.
40:58Thank you so much.
40:59Yeah.
41:00Alrighty.
41:01Bye, guys.
41:02Bye.
41:03See you soon.
41:08I am sorry.
41:10I am sorry for treating you like a damsel in distress when you are anything but.
41:15You are strong, you are smart, and you are more than capable of handling yourself.
41:23Sometimes it's just hard to figure out what kind of help you need from me.
41:28Well, I knew you were coming from a good place.
41:30I just, in the future, I recommend asking instead of telling.
41:34Agreed.
41:35Let me try.
41:37Would you care to spend some quality personal time with me in our quality personal bed?
41:45Perfect.
41:48I'm just gonna get us a water.
41:50You know, for after.
41:51Excellent.
41:52Hydrate.
42:14Thank you for moving.
42:15Cheers, folks.
42:16Thanks a lot for attending!
42:20Damn it.
42:50Damn it.
