00:00We all consume it every day, because it is healthy and because it benefits everyone in the household.
00:06In the Brussels region, tap water is distributed by VivaCroix 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
00:12Perhaps you didn't know it, but VivaCroix provides a large number of services which you can find on your water bill.
00:18If you have just received yours, here is how to read it.
00:22The price of water covers the supply of drinking water, in other words,
00:25the production and distribution of water to your homes and the strict monitoring of its quality.
00:31But it also covers its sanitation, that is to say, the management of the sewer system
00:36and the purification of wastewater before returning it to the natural environment.
00:40Moreover, your water bill includes a particularly important mission,
00:44the management of stormwater basins to prevent flooding.
00:47For households, the price of water consists of two elements,
00:51the fixed charge, previously called the subscription fee,
00:53the variable charge, which depends on the quantity of the water consumed.
00:58In concrete terms, in 2026, you will pay an annual fixed sum of €40.23
01:04and an amount for the water you have consumed, at the rate of €5.35 per meter cubed, VAT included.
01:12In the Brussels capital region, water costs less than in the two other regions of the country.
01:17Whether you consume large or small quantities of water,
01:20your VivaCroix bill only takes up on average 1% of your household budget.
01:25If you are having difficulties paying your bill,
01:28you can ask VivaCroix to spread the payment of your bill over several instalments,
01:34apply for assistance from the social water fund managed by the CPAS of your municipality,
01:39or benefit free of charge from a social aid intervention,
01:42– in other words, a reduction of your bill – if you benefit from preferential reimbursement.
01:50Take care not to waste drinking water.
01:53Watch out for leaks.
01:54Ideally, take showers instead of baths.
01:56And, if you can, consider acquiring a rainwater system.
02:00That will reduce your bill.
