00:00On the outskirts of Dongora, dirty deeds are being done dirt cheap.
00:07Oh, this looks prickly. Have you got your long stick with you?
00:10Three women teaming up to clean up.
00:13Just seeing how clean it is, that's the best part.
00:17How does that make you feel?
00:18Good. Makes me good. And it's good exercise.
00:22But it's hard work.
00:23I tell you, the road's not easy to do it
00:26because some of them are on an incline
00:31and sometimes you've got to be a four-legged animal.
00:35And the most common bits of rubbish?
00:37Coffee cups, water bottles and alcohol containers.
00:41But they have fun along the way.
00:49They've dubbed themselves the roadside rubbish relics
00:52but for the town of Dongora, they're absolute treasures.
00:55Recognised at the Tidy Town Awards.
00:58We were gobsmacked.
01:00You know, we just didn't realise that we'd be the winners.
01:04But the real winner is the environment.
01:07We figure between eight and ten tonnes we've picked up.
01:11There's probably, there's over 13,000 containers for change.
01:16And it's all a labour of love.
01:18I've been here for 30 years
01:20and I sort of wanted to say thank you to Dongora for having me here.
01:26And Dongora says thank you back.
01:29That's what we like to see.
01:32Well...
