00:00Ellie Pashley is one of Australia's best marathoners.
00:07She's an Olympian and once held our 8th fastest time.
00:14Recently she's been doing a different type of running around.
00:17You hungry?
00:18Chasing after kids.
00:20I think where once it was sort of a career ending thing to start having children
00:25nowadays it's not looked upon like that at all.
00:28Ellie had Tiggy after the 2021 Olympics.
00:31Then this year, Bobbie.
00:33She missed qualifying for the 2024 Olympics.
00:36I knew it was going to be a tough ask coming back from having a baby.
00:40She now has her sights set on the next games.
00:43LA is in 2028 and obviously I would love the chance to try and qualify for that.
00:49Yeah.
00:50Oh you're hungry are you?
00:52Jess Stenson considered giving up her marathon career in 2019
00:57when she was pregnant with her first child.
00:59It was kind of just said and accepted that 28 was your kind of peak marathoning age
01:06and then you tended to decline after that.
01:08That was based on a study on men though.
01:10Jess now has two kids and this month broke the national record, beating the 2022 record
01:16of another mum, Sinead Diver.
01:18At the Paris Olympics, all three Australian marathon women were mums.
01:22It's an exciting era to be a part of.
01:24Pregnancy was once treated as an injury by Australian athletics.
01:28Now a new pregnancy policy ensures athletes maintain their level of official support,
01:33including funding, until they return.
01:35And just this month, the Australian Olympic Committee announced a $10,000 incentive
01:41for Olympians returning after birth.
01:43It's nice to be a part of that sort of little community at the moment that is all the mums.
01:52It's a big issue.
01:53It's a great idea.
01:54It's a great idea.
01:55It's a great idea.
01:56It's a great idea.
01:57It's a great idea.
01:58It's a great idea.
02:00It's a great idea.
02:02It's a great idea.
02:06Thank you so much.
02:08For the rest of us, a great idea for us to go to develop a company's day it's time.
02:11Thank you so much.
02:13The round of reimagining work is to run forward,
02:14with us to get a future plan and do not change your time for us.
02:17And, of course, we are a great idea.
