00:00Dancing judge Anton Debeck
00:02I love Christmas
00:05I wish I was one of those people who would start buying presents in June
00:09But I'm not
00:10I start buying presents on the 23rd of December
00:13It's not Christmas unless you're running around with your hair on fire
00:16Going, ah, I haven't got any more presents
00:22Comedian Lucy Beaumont
00:24Christmas Day, there's usually some sort of argument
00:27But nothing too major
00:29It calms everybody down
00:31We do that instead of playing board games
00:34We used to do Guess Who
00:36And now we just have an argument
00:38Oh my God
00:40Actor and writer Susan Wakoma
00:42Christmas gives a point to it being cold
00:45I love big coats
00:47I love, like, mulled wine
00:49And then as soon as it's, like, the 1st of January
00:51I'm like, where's the sun?
00:52And gladiator Tom Wilson
00:54A.K.A. Hammer
00:56I want to show people gladiators can sew
01:00From jewel to the sewing machine
01:02I can do it
01:03Merry Christmas one and all
01:10Celebrity sewers, please come forward
01:14We are 50 clear of the world
01:16We are pushed and free
01:18So, I'm your host Sophie
01:21I'm pregnant
01:22I'm practically the Virgin Mary
01:23Without the barn, the donkey
01:25Or the virginity
01:26Let's be honest
01:27Yeah
01:28Are you ready?
01:29I'm ready
01:30So ready
01:31It's that time of year
01:32You're going to make some terrible life choices
01:34At the Christmas office party
01:36You will, I think
01:38I've got my eye on you
01:39Yes, I will
01:40I can tell
01:41Yeah, you're wild
01:42I know
01:43But until then
01:44We're going to sew
01:45Esme
01:46What we're doing first
01:47Right, here we go
01:49Pass them round
01:50Thank you very much
01:51Oh, okay
01:52We want you to make a Christmas present sack
01:56It's got a band at the top
01:58With a drawstring closure
02:00And a lining
02:02Lining?
02:03Yeah, lining
02:04Is it absolutely necessary?
02:05Yes
02:06Okay, just checking
02:07Cheating already
02:08You'll find loads of coloured fabric
02:10In the haberdashery
02:11And there's festive embellishments on the cutting table
02:14With which to Christmasify your sacks
02:18Because we know that Christmas is not all about presents
02:22It's about the fabulous sacks that they come in
02:24So, are you ready to pimp your sacks?
02:27Oh, I'm ready
02:28Are you ready, I'm Tom?
02:29Yes
02:30Fabulous, okay
02:31Right
02:32You've got two hours
02:33Your time starts now
02:35Now
02:36Here we go
02:37As time is of the essence
02:39The celebrities need to think fast as well as festive
02:42When choosing both their fabric
02:44He's a bit you lads
02:46And their decorations
02:48That one
02:50An electric print
02:51I'm very traditional
02:52So, I love this
02:54This is Christmas
02:55And if my children were to wake up with a Christmas sack like this
02:57At the end of their bed they'd be delighted
03:02So, what have they got to do then?
03:04We've asked them to make a Christmas present sack
03:08Think how many presents will go in this bag
03:11Yeah
03:12So do you think the bigger the better than Esme?
03:13Yes
03:14Fabulous
03:15We could almost fit Esme in this sack
03:17I was thinking that
03:18That would be the best present, wouldn't it?
03:19It's a bottle of sherry and Esme pops out
03:21Yeah
03:23So what are all the elements that they have to do?
03:25Well, you've got the outside of the bag, you've got a lining
03:29And then you've got cords
03:32They might not choose the easiest fabric
03:34They might go for something sparkly and fun looking
03:36Which would be tricky to sew
03:37And you've got decoration
03:39It's important you express yourself
03:42You express yourself through your sack
03:45My job as a gladiator is being up there, knocking people down
03:52It's pretty heavy handed
03:54So pinning fabric is a challenge
03:57I've never made a sack before
03:59But I've made an oven glove
04:01They're quite different actually
04:04Last time I went on the sewing machine was about 35 years ago
04:08We used to make our own costumes
04:10Basically love this
04:12Alrighty, come on!
04:15The Christmas present sack is made from four pattern pieces
04:19First the top band pieces are stitched to the top and bottom edges of the main panel
04:25Then it's time to decorate
04:27Next the lining is attached to each top band piece creating a big loop
04:33A gap is left in one of the seams for turning out later
04:37Then the sides are sewn leaving a gap for the cord
04:41The sack is then turned right side out and the opening is stitched closed
04:46Finally two rows of stitching create a channel for the cord
04:51The cord is threaded, extra decoration is added and the sack is complete
04:57Good morning!
04:58Morning!
04:59Cracking on!
05:00You've got a plan for embellishing it
05:02Yes, so every Christmas I spend it in Lancaster with friends of mine
05:06And we drink martinis
05:07So that is what's going to be the embellishment on the front
05:10Ooh!
05:11Yeah!
05:12She is certainly keen on a Christmas martini
05:15Have you done any of this sort of stuff before?
05:17None at all!
05:18That's brave of you to come on
05:19Well doubly brave because you've chosen a slippery sequin fabric
05:22Which is really hard to sew
05:24It is really hard to sew, you're right
05:25That seems like madness
05:27Madness!
05:28Well, I've made something for madness
05:30Yeah
05:31It sucks
05:33Just name drop
05:35What's Christmas if it's not a massive clanging name drop?
05:40Yeah
05:41Clang!
05:42While Susan's gambling on sophisticated sequins
05:46Hello!
05:47This looks good!
05:48I like leopard print
05:50Lucy's gone for something saucy
05:52Well, I'm going to tell a story
05:54Because my mum used to have a nightdress like that
05:56It's meant to be, you know, When Mummy Kisses Santa Claus
05:59That song
06:00Right
06:01Like a take on that
06:02I show Mummy Kisses
06:05The inside of it is meant to be Father Christmas
06:09Mmm
06:10It's a bit like your mum sleeping with Santa in the 90s
06:13I'm very joking
06:15Good luck!
06:16Oh, thank you, Sophie
06:17Fabulous
06:18It's delivering up to sew
06:21Right sides
06:23Ah!
06:24Right sides together
06:26Stitch the top band
06:27I'm absolutely terrified
06:29My first step
06:31Oh, this is exciting
06:33The first job is to sew the top band to the main fabric
06:36That's so cool
06:38A gladiator on a sewing machine
06:40This is just where it's meant to be
06:41But the celebrities will have to hang tough
06:44Ooh!
06:46As even delicate sewing has its own dangerous obstacles
06:50Pins get in the way, don't they?
06:52They're moving with me
06:54I feel like I'm on Coronation Street, you know, that factory
06:58While this isn't a soap
07:00There's certainly room for slip-ups
07:02Careful of the sequins
07:03Ooh, God, that's slipped out underneath
07:05Especially with Susan's slippery fabric
07:08The sequins are hard
07:10As my and Patrick went lying
07:12Hello, Anton
07:14How are we doing? You look very studious
07:17I have to tell you, I'm terribly excited
07:19My children will love this
07:21How many kids have you?
07:22Two, I've got a boy and a girl
07:24Eight now
07:25Right
07:26Which makes Christmas even more feminine
07:27That is fun, isn't it?
07:28Do you dress up as Santa?
07:29Yeah, there's a photograph of me being Santa Claus
07:31Right, very thin, athletic Santa, aren't you?
07:33Well, I'd try to
07:34Actually, I am also quite good at moving
07:37I can do a twerk
07:38Can you now?
07:39I'd like to learn some ballroom
07:41Would you?
07:42Yeah
07:43You go back with your left foot
07:44So you go back
07:45Side
07:46Together
07:47Forward
07:48Side
07:49Together
07:50I feel amazing
07:51I feel like a swan
07:52You do feel amazing
07:53Thank you
07:54Shall I quickly show you the twerk?
07:55Yeah
07:56The best thing to do, Anton
07:58Imagine you're getting electrocuted
07:59Let me give that a thought
08:01Hang on
08:02And it's like it's coming at you
08:03Right
08:04And his legs are shaking
08:06And you're trying to get away
08:07But you just can't
08:08Okay
08:09You're searching
08:10Okay
08:11And then all the jelly goes
08:12All the jelly goes
08:13What?
08:14That's it
08:15Yeah
08:16Yeah
08:17Ah
08:18See you at the Christmas party
08:20All righto
08:21Let's make some mistakes
08:24Just like the wise men
08:29You've got a long journey ahead
08:30And no sat-nav
08:32You're half way there
08:34Oh my god
08:35We're looking good
08:36You've done this before, haven't you?
08:37No, I've not
08:38Yeah, you have
08:39Having attached their top bands
08:41It's time for our novice sewing stars
08:44To stitch on their decorations
08:46Sorry, did I say stitch?
08:48I mean iron
08:49Martini glass
08:52But even ironing
08:53Oh
08:54Might be a stretch for an Anton
08:56Don't wrong way around
08:57How can I get the sticky bit
08:58On the wrong bit?
08:59Absolute eejit
09:00I'm going for traditional Christmas design
09:02For my new nephew
09:04My sister's had a lovely boy
09:05Yeah
09:06Called Grayson
09:07Well, I know Grayson Perry
09:08Oh dear
09:09More name dropping
09:10Yeah, name dropping there
09:11I'm going to sew tinsel
09:14So this is going to be the martini liquid
09:17Oh, oh
09:18It's too fast
09:19What?
09:20Foot thing
09:21That's the technical term
09:22The foot thing
09:23A pedal
09:24Like I'm in a band
09:25Yeah
09:26While Susan pushes herself
09:27In the name of glamour
09:28Hello
09:29Hello
09:30Hello
09:31Lucy's saucy leopard print design
09:33Is ready for a sneak preview
09:35Do you like what I'm doing?
09:36Personally
09:37I'm not sure that just a leopard print sack
09:40That just
09:41Mam
09:42Screams Christmas
09:44It's meant to be
09:45You know that song
09:46I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus
09:47Oh yeah
09:48But feels like he's gone a bit seedy
09:50Wise men, how are you doing?
09:55Tired?
09:56Confused?
09:57Following a light in the sky that you hope is a weather spoon?
10:01You've got 30 minutes left
10:03Currently sewing the lining
10:07It's inside out
10:08With the lining attached to the sack inside out
10:11There's one important step for the sewers to remember
10:14And you must leave a gap in the seam
10:17The gap enables the sack to be turned the right way
10:20Oh, I've made a bit of a boo-boo
10:22This is closed
10:23But Lucy has sewn us together
10:26It's all going on here
10:28I'm going to unpick it
10:30I'm about to pull this through
10:32Yes
10:33It looks a bit like when you get stuck with a duvet
10:35While the other celebrities turn their sacks the right way
10:38Can she do it?
10:39Will she do it?
10:41She's doing it
10:42Brilliant
10:44Lucy's left looking for an opening
10:46Surely
10:48There's the technology to not have to do this
10:51The need to invent a machine for unpicking
10:53Tom
10:54This is quite a sight, I have to say
10:56Seeing a gladiator intricately sewing a pattern
11:00So is this a hammer here?
11:02This is a hammer
11:03This is to remind myself who I am
11:04How tall are you?
11:05Six foot six
11:06How tall are you?
11:07Five foot three
11:08Let me stand up
11:09Hey, my bum just fits completely just above yours
11:11Oh, yeah
11:12It's really comfy
11:13I know
11:14It's really comfortable
11:15Can you just follow me round like this?
11:16I'm going to stay here
11:17It's fabulous
11:18I've finished unpicking
11:19I might just have a break
11:21I haven't
11:23I feel like we've been here years
11:25Hurry up, wise men
11:26The baby's crowning
11:27We've got 15 minutes
11:29I'm trying to pull the drawstring through and it's getting constantly caught
11:35The cord needs to be threaded through the narrow channels
11:38Last time I pulled the cord through, it was my children's swim costumes
11:42In actual fact, my wife's swimming costume
11:45We're nearly there, I think I can do this
11:48But Lucy's still battling with her bag
11:51If I finish it
11:53It's going to be a miracle
11:55Right, we've got ten minutes
11:57Oh my gosh
11:58And now I'm going to tart it up
11:59How about bells?
12:01That's me
12:04I've decided to me
12:05Lovely big bow
12:06You know
12:07You know it
12:08How much time have we got left?
12:11One minute left
12:13Terrifying
12:14Keep it up
12:15Fosse-fosse
12:16Ooh, ooh, ooh
12:17Fosse-fosse
12:18Come on, come on
12:19Come on
12:20Jazz hands
12:21Jazz hands
12:22So, so, so
12:23Piece of the resistance
12:24Bow
12:25Put some bells on
12:26I hear bells
12:27Perfect
12:28Oh
12:29It's just arful
12:31Needles of sewers
12:34It may be the most wonderful time of the year
12:37But your time is up
12:39I could actually do one of them martinis, Susie
12:42I know, right?
12:43The candle was homemade
12:44Wow
12:45Think arts and crafts
12:46That's great
12:47And you've got bells on it
12:48I like bells
12:49That's really cool, isn't it?
12:50I sewed it a bit messy
12:52But it's an actual sack
12:54You can't be sure that he's coming around
12:59With presents in his sack
13:03Four Christmas sacks
13:05Packed full of presents
13:07Made in just two hours
13:09Look at you, sparkly lot
13:12You look like a fabulous festive bunch of burglars
13:15So what do you think?
13:16Brilliant
13:17All of them, brilliant
13:18Bags of festive goodness
13:20Mmm
13:21It's a bad joke
13:22Yes, I get it
13:23That was good that
13:24Thanks
13:25Fast
13:26Jingle bells, jingle bells
13:28Jingle all the way
13:30Oh what fun it is to ride
13:33In a one horse open sleigh
13:36Jingle bells, jingle bells
13:39Jingle all the way
13:41Oh what fun it is to ride
13:44In a one horse open sleigh
13:47A
13:48Hey
13:49Hey
13:50I think the candle's great
13:51You've got little berries
13:53I love the colours
13:54Oh and it's a red lining
13:56That works really well
13:58If I'm being nitpicky
13:59Slightly misaligned at the side
14:01A little step
14:02But
14:03Put your draw chords
14:04Those work
14:05You hold it and tug
14:06Hold and tug
14:07Hold and tug
14:08That's the way with this sack
14:09Right
14:10Excellent
14:11Thank you very much
14:12Oh I feel a bit emotional
14:14I've had such a bad experience with judges over the years
14:17Let it out once
14:19Let it out twice
14:22But everyone knows
14:24It's just sevens and bones
14:27Pretty good
14:30Thank you
14:31Pleased?
14:32Yeah very pleased
14:33We've got a Christmas message which is to your new nephew
14:36Grayson
14:37Draw chords are in
14:38Yup
14:39The only thing I don't like is gold decorations
14:43Don't go with white
14:45But
14:46Obviously trying to curry favour with this judge
14:49With a massive bow
14:50And it's plump
14:51How do you have time to make bows?
14:53That's the difference between gladiators and strictly dancers
14:57They have time to make bows
14:59Thank God I'm no longer a dancer
15:02Everybody there was drinking martinis with me
15:06Everybody there was drinking martinis with me
15:10Well cheers Susan and your martini
15:15I think it's a lovely idea
15:16I like the fabric and it's great that you sewed these sparkly bits
15:21But the martini glasses disappear a little
15:24Yeah it does
15:25I think you needed a bit more contrast
15:27If they'd been a different colour they might have leapt out a little bit more
15:30It's interesting that you use sequins because they come unravelled
15:34Yeah
15:35This stuff is really difficult to sew
15:37There's a couple of little raw bits
15:39Also gold brocade phrase
15:41But I think it's a really good effort
15:43Mega festive
15:44Bravo
15:45Thank you
15:46I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus
15:54Underneath the mistletoe last night
16:01Well it's a murkier Christmas tale
16:04A bit of Christmas sleaze under the mistletoe
16:07Yeah, my mother
16:09I was hoping for a bit more than just ma'am
16:13I mean there isn't Santa Claus
16:15He's the toweling
16:16Santa's the toweling
16:17So it's a story we need to unpack
16:19With a bit more thought
16:21Slowly
16:22I'm not sure about this fabric
16:24Why?
16:25Because it's brown
16:26And it's not very Christmassy
16:28Christmas puddings are brown
16:30Well we could throw a bit of brandy over it and set fire to it
16:36Seems a little harsh
16:38It's a little bit untidy
16:41Got these little raw bits
16:42Yeah
16:43Oh God
16:44Yes
16:45He's had a hard life
16:46How come you didn't sew this in?
16:49I don't know
16:50You don't know
16:51I think I was eating a toffee crisp at the time
16:53If I'm honest
16:55When do we set fire to it?
16:59The judges will now rank the Christmas sacks
17:02From fourth to first place
17:04Fourth place
17:05We have
17:06Lucy
17:08It's a little untidy
17:10And I don't like brown
17:13As she had told you before
17:14In third place
17:16Is Susan
17:17The martini glasses disappear
17:19Oh okay
17:21In second place
17:26Tom
17:27Nothing much to choose between them
17:28You can be really really proud of it
17:30It's brilliant
17:31Thank you very much
17:32In first place
17:33Is Anton
17:37It's fabulous
17:38I love the candle
17:39And all the bells
17:41Thank you very much
17:42So you can bob off now
17:44Enjoy yourselves
17:45Relax and chill
17:46And you come back for the transformation challenge
17:48Off you go
17:49Thank you
17:50Shall we have an hack knock?
17:51No, I want a brandy
17:52Brandy
17:53Brandy
17:54Well done yours
17:55Thank you
17:57We wish you a merry Christmas
17:59We wish you a merry Christmas
18:01We wish you a merry Christmas
18:03What's green, covered in tinsel
18:07And goes ribbit, ribbit, mistleturd?
18:10covered in tinsel and goes ribbit ribbit mistleturred mr. turd toad oh went swimmingly
18:22i have to say i mean this is my best christmas i've ever had who knew bells would have such an
18:29effect you know anton's got his creativity hasn't he from his dancing so i perhaps could have just
18:34swayed it if i'd got the chords right it'd have been in mind then esme said she wanted
18:39to burn it she doesn't like brown but they did acknowledge that it was a sack i'm actually
18:47really excited by the transformation challenge because like what's it going to be you've got no
18:50idea like we'll cross that bridge when we come to it which is basically how i approach life
18:58that bridge has arrived sooner than susan thinks patrick and esme are about to get the party started
19:06welcome back sewers it's now time for the transformation challenge which is where you
19:12take something old unloved and a bit knackered and you usually up a bit a bit like i've tried to do
19:16with my feet they still look like hocks of ham but now they look like hocks of ham you might win in a
19:22raffle which is lovely so patrick what are you asking them to transform this week on this day of
19:29christmas we judges give to the party where inspired by the 12 days of christmas we would like you to
19:41make a fancy dress outfit for a child i think swans milking maids geese leaping lords etc right when we look
19:52at them we must know what verse you did and we want to smile immediately all right okay now the
20:01judges aren't allowed to be here for this they're going to go out probably eat some chocolates and
20:05put the wrappers back in the tin off you pop now the adults have gone you've got an hour and a half off
20:12you go right that is cool i think i've actually worn that with 12 possible characters to choose from
20:22our celebrities need to be decisive do you know what color swans legs are let me think about the
20:28last one i shaved if they're to transform their chosen garments in time what's it doing piece of
20:35laying swans are swimming this is a swan what i'm thinking i might just put this on the mannequin and
20:41call it a lady dancing i don't know all the 12 days of christmas i was the kid who was quiet and
20:46then shouted five gold rings so party wear into a fancy dress outfit inspired by the 12 days of
20:58christmas they could be quite literal it could be a swan or a hen or a drummer but it could be something
21:04a little more tangential as long as we can link it there are lots of birds involved there's lots of
21:10feathery fabrics and that lends itself obviously to our feathered friends we have cut them a bit
21:15of slack because we've given them these base outfits that they can use as a kind of structure
21:21to build their fancy dress outfit around there's also wording they can use so they could make
21:27something 3d right i'm off to see what my true love has given to me i'm your true love
21:38oh no that's torn it i need lots of padding you know to go in it like filling what i'm doing three
21:45french hens we've got uh kind of like ghibli bits awful uh we've got like a bit of red we've got a little
21:53bit of this we're going to rustle feathers that's what we're going to do oh it's feathers everywhere
21:58tom how are you i'm covered in feathers but that should be a good sign to what i'm doing seven swans
22:03are swimming do you like the swan's beak i'm going to go for what else is going on then have you got eyes
22:09i had not thought about eyes i'm guessing the child will have eyes yeah because they bring their own
22:15eyes so i've got a goose here i'm doing gisa lane can't you tell can't you tell
22:27i'm absolutely quackers while most celebrities choose to make beautiful birds
22:32don't fight the sparkle lucy's choice what are you making uh udders
22:37udders you know the maids milking is a little more niche have you done another before this is my
22:43first udder surfing right that's quite a good udder isn't it do you think yeah well it's going to be
22:48a cow are you confident you'll know this is a cow i mean it's not a giraffe is it you know your animals
22:57so far i've done a bit of stitching on the washing machine what did i say washing machine
23:04sewing machine that's about fits on my arm to be really honest with you
23:07that's my swan do i hear the word swan from over the other side of the room i've got bird competition
23:16anyway i'm creating wings right hello dear i'm just checking out what you're doing i'm just trying
23:23to get a few tips since you did win the first one i need to know what well you are yeah but we've moved
23:29drawn from sax so i'm i'm about where i start so as you're halfway through i've just sewed this with
23:39a slight opening i'm gonna just stuff with filling while it's traditional to stuff birds at christmas
23:46if this doesn't say bird i don't know what does lucy's udders are having an identity crisis
23:51i am worried that this looks like a turkey and she's not the only one getting muddled we're
24:00gonna be putting this tartan hood on my french hen susan's french hen has become a scott i probably
24:08should have picked something less scottish but it's cool hello it looks fabulous i think i might like
24:14this for the baby really i might take it home with mess if it all goes really bad and you sort of
24:20have to lie yeah you just know because i won't pick it up at the end i'm just attaching patches
24:28in the udder to the cow look at that
24:34hey wow my daughter would never let me make her a dress like this
24:38i've just seen lucy's is that a swan it could be a swan no milking things nice excellent cows are
24:47milking
24:48oh hello cheeky lady do you like it interesting very avant-garde do you think yeah you've definitely
24:58got the edgy number thank you right so it's 15 minutes stress stress stress all the celebrities
25:06are rushing to add familiar features might make an egg geese are laying and lucy's milking it
25:14through live life dangerously i would like to make udders for the head as well
25:20i'm only going to need about 10 minutes and then i'm just going to cry in the toilet
25:24like christmas day really for susan
25:28bugger christmas is already by a humbug i've sewed strips of embellishment over the beak
25:35i'm hiding the end of the beak which i really wasn't meant to do so i've got to unpick it which is
25:42really annoying well i'm having a lovely time making a golden egg a five six seven and a one
25:49anton too much fossing i said lie oh my god i'm attempting to sew the swan's feet
25:57and that is a swan's foot i put some leggings on the head and now i'm stitching the udders with no
26:04one else dressed like this you know they've got um sew this again five minutes come on oh god no
26:10they are shall we hang the egg from the bottom oh i love the feet it's that competitive gladiator
26:18i've got it in here come on i'm a bit worried i'll ruin it one minute you're running on it
26:26stuck no child would want to wear this shove the eyes on celebrity sewers needles up i did it guys
26:35no bother as the scots say it's like beyonce if she was a hen imagine going out of the house dressed
26:43like this mama's got piles please bring your mannequins forward got a lot of birds going on
26:54aren't my lucy fantastic genius oh i know who my winner is you did the audience
27:14a collection of party clothes transformed into outfits that celebrate the song
27:19the 12 days of christmas judges you can take a break from
27:23wrapping my fabulous presents come and have a look esme and patrick having a clue whose outfit's
27:29whose well that's quite a lot of birds ooh la la yes somebody's geese have been a laying
27:45what do you think this is well i mean it is very clearly a bird yes which of our birds is it
27:51is it it's not a french hen because it's got a tartan hat on although the french did like the scots
27:57yes well maybe it's got bird yeah i don't remember that one from the rhyme
28:04it's not the swan it's not a geese is it a calling bird i don't know but i'll tell you what this hat is
28:11brilliantly engineered look how great the fit on that hat is the feathered dress has been used to
28:19perfection i mean it does look like something you'd wear to a party doesn't it yeah i mean
28:25there's hints of pipers because they're scottish is it a bird is it a piper or is it a plane
28:30this to me is a swan yes by his orange beak it's great how this orange matches this i love the way
28:49that they've used felt just to cut out bright orange feet this party dress has given us all
28:56the white feathers that we need yes it's really wearable i think it's a great fancy dress outfit
29:01love it this is maids are milking isn't it this is the cow that the maids who are milking yes
29:17are milking what do you think these are the nipples i think they call them udders but we
29:23can go with nipples i think this is very amusing i'm a maid milking it she can't resist i think the
29:32use of the fabrics here is brilliant we've just got a couple of judicious brown spots on our cow just to
29:41signpost it i love the little horns if they are horns the udders i just think are brilliant i mean this
29:47looks like a pair of leggings that have been somewhat crudely manipulated yes i've rarely been
29:54more amused by anything i've seen in this room that's the sound effect you need to make whilst
30:01wandering around in this costume but i'm not going to wear it you're lost i'll be wearing it anyway
30:07this is another bird which bird begins with a g and rhymes with moose goose correct that's what i
30:24think it is anyway again i think it's brilliant use of the feathery party frock the beak the eyes you get
30:30a lot of storytelling there any eggs you can see no what about the egg at the back what about this egg
30:37what did you think that was i didn't see it doing a golden poo for christmas yes it is laying a golden
30:45christmas egg i think there's some really lovely details in this it's great pass off to all of you
30:51this is an absolute christmas cracker i don't think we've seen transformations this good in a long while
30:56esme and patrick will now rank the festive outfits whose will be gifted victory and whose goose is
31:06cooked in fourth place it's that one with the tartan well that's susie's we really liked it but we didn't
31:17know what it was it's a french hen but the tartan threw you a little beret and maybe a string of onions
31:24or like carrying a baguette anything french really merci in third place is our swan a swimming tom i mean
31:35that is seriously impressive loved it it's just amongst a menagerie of other brilliance in second place is
31:43cow that's lucy's oh my god i can't believe it did so well it's mad and that's why we liked it i just
31:54knew how to make udders sometimes you find your calling in life well done lucy which means in first
32:00place is our wonderful goose a lay-in i mean it was all a very close run thing you've created this wonderful
32:11shape but the crowning glory is its little egg what a day what a day what a day i could
32:17rarely have ever dreamt of yes one again sounds too grand isn't it i just came out on top
32:24i couldn't believe that i came second don't think i deserved it from a technical point of view from a
32:29novelty point of view yeah i wipe the floor with everybody brilliant a bit disappointing i came third
32:36but to be fair because look at that lineup they were just all fantastic every time i hear three french
32:42hens i'm going to start wildly screaming or i don't know speaking in a scottish accent
32:56it's a new day and the celebrities must now make garments to fit a model nice to meet you how are
33:06you it's nice to see you whoever shines in this final challenge could walk away with the christmas
33:12sewing bee trophy in my head it looks great but whether that actually happens i have no idea
33:19hurry down the chimney tonight welcome back celebrity sewers and hello to our fabulous festive models
33:29so today's made to measure challenge the judges would like you to create an outfit
33:34based on your favorite christmas treat mine would be a hot man wrapped in bacon
33:39you've got four hours and your time starts now put your arms up for me if you hold it on your waist
33:51and put it all the way to the ground i love food at christmas i cook it's my job i'll do the ham
33:56because you know i mean it's hammer like a soggy brussels sprout but i feel like christmas is the time
34:03where i'm allowed to and no one's going so tell me why have you picked this challenge we all love a
34:12christmas treat true we've given them complete free reign they could dress their model up as a
34:17christmas put you know something that's literal or it could just be something that takes inspiration
34:22from their christmas treat we just want to be able to follow that story but they probably never done
34:29fitting on the body right that's going to be difficult that's me what would be your christmas treat
34:35sherry it's quite sweet just like you as me a sweet and alcoholic yeah
34:48oh the fabric's lovely isn't it right let's go good morning morning what is your treat something
34:56that i know it's going to be in abundance in my house at christmas which is champagne right uh
35:01champagne i wanted to incorporate old ballroom dresses something a little old school lovely
35:07anton's aiming for high fashion with a dress inspired by a glass of his wife's favorite festive
35:12tipple a fishtail skirt represents the base while a structured bodice will mimic the rim of the champagne
35:19flute the front is going to sit out and also i love all this stuff so we're going to use this in the
35:25glass as though it's champagne wow it's ambitious but i think if you pull it off it'll be a knockout
35:32hopefully cheers cheers nice while anton plans to toast his victory tom's hoping success will be
35:40sweet what's your treat gingerbread gingerbread oh you know i love gingerbread and you've got a ginger
35:46wife i have got a ginger wife you love the ginger ginger i know you know what i mean you're my favorite
35:51um of course yeah but don't try and eat me i won't have a the base of tom's gingerbread
35:58inspired outfit will be a satin pinafore dress decorations include rick rack icing a candy
36:05striped belt and an assortment of treats plus one final touch there's going to be a big boat to win
36:11esme over ready as well loves the boat yeah i think it's you actually do you know what thank you it's all
36:16yours if when it's finished yeah we'll see how good it is you'll know yeah you'll know right hilariously
36:24i need a nice pencil to make time come on
36:33it takes something special to win the sewing bee crown and susan's sewing a design inspired by the
36:39after-dinner classic vionetta this is a ice dessert that i would have as a kid at christmas my mom
36:47would say serve yourselves and we'd be like stabbing it trying to get it all crunchy and get to the bottom
36:53susan's making an asymmetric mini dress with a base of satin white and brown organza ruffles
37:00represent the iconic chocolate and vanilla layers i'm pleating to create the frilly chocolate the key
37:07is to not make it look garish so it's elevated yes it's haute couture chocolate couture oh
37:20while susan indulges her sweet tooth lucy good morning fancies something more savory i'm doing
37:27blue cheese and onions pickled onions that's what i like to eat what time of day are you getting stuck
37:33into the blue cheese and pickled onions straight away before the presents i just mean from december
37:40lucy's festive cheese dress features blue overlay and pickled onion pearls with a cream cracker handbag
37:47borrowing a style from another era the dress emulates a wedge of cheese the 60s style lends
37:53itself to the shape of cheese i think the 60s and cheese go hand in hand also this is very clearly
37:59veiny cheese it's making me very peckish he's going for cheese see you but attaching the delicate
38:07veiny fabric is no mean feat the pink coming up it's stuck on the pin it's so wonky i'm going to unpick
38:15it what a shame although lucy's cheesed off the other celebrities careful i don't think it
38:22i'm ready for the first fitting yay how's that it's quite nice isn't it anton's champagne flute is
38:30far from finished this lovely fabric will sit underneath so it will kick out he's adding
38:36multiple layers well i wouldn't expect anything less than this sparkly affair i'm doing a little
38:42gathering technique what we do is you put a couple of rows of stitching in there pull and it starts to
38:48together we can get a nice champagne effect so you love champagne and who cooks hannah my wife i do
38:55topping up and entertainment that's my role i just bring charisma and a speaker that's what i bring then
39:04yeah yeah go on thank you love that you can come round i might well might even bring the frog bring
39:12the frog for me i'll have that if your wife doesn't want it of course no no you can have it all right
39:17yeah sodder sod hannah hannah who merry christmas hannah
39:21celebrity sauce halfway oh wow i'm so behind while lucy races to catch up hey anton do you want a quick
39:40dance the other celebrities five six seven are kicking back turn one two three
39:50one add the jump as well and the big finish well thank you for that a show stopper is certainly on
39:55susan's mind couple up there i need massive volumer thrills but bigger isn't always better
40:02i'm hand sewing the decorations look at these big spades of hands it's well difficult i want lovely
40:10show buttons down the middle my needle is really getting stuck my hands are too big to get behind
40:15let me just bring it up a little bit well that's not even working either tom might be battling buttons
40:22but anton has to make an entire glass of champagne but this is paper pattern for my flute
40:28i don't know what shape uh let me have a little thing and he's not the only one
40:43i was making a champagne flute but maybe the coupe would have a bit more of a effect sorry my love i'll
40:50be with you in one second uh what do i want right thank you so i'm basically going with a coupe
41:02i mean sure there's glue gun somewhere
41:06right i'm catching up it's a blue cheese i love blue cheese and pickled onion on a cracker i once got
41:12back from a christmas party and sat on the floor by the fridge and ate a whole wheel of camember
41:22celebrity sewers
41:27you've got one hour oh gosh
41:30i think you'll find craig will want that back rather soon well he's not having it
41:34a little stab on the finger to join the many this is more dangerous than the gladiators tom has
41:43really gone to town on his gingerbread creation i hope he gets it finished i'm now sewing ice cream
41:50onto my dress as we go there's more and more material so it's harder to manage susan's is pretty
41:55complicated she's got all those layers she's actually still got quite a lot left to do these look like
42:01pickled onions i'm just going to use these as decoration lucy reads well as a veiny cheese and
42:08i really like the little pickled onions but it's simplest dress what anton wouldn't give for a simple
42:15slice of cheese this is looking a bit like a shield at the moment anton's is the most difficult it's
42:22supposed to be the flute of champagne with the froth but yeah at the moment it's looking more suit of
42:30armor it seems that somebody's eating all the chocolates i don't know who it is but what i could
42:39interest you in is 30 minutes left no i'm making a cheese cracker handbag which is going to be all
42:49the rage everyone's going to want one while the girls rush to accessorize headband tom has gone rogue
42:58ditching his needle and fixing decorations with glue and some heavy metal this is great work of an iron
43:06right quick kiss on the hammer you know and we'll get there the true gladiator inside of me has got to
43:13come through and take the win but tom's not the only gladiator in the arena is it still too shieldy
43:20anton's model should fit in at a champagne reception not ancient rome maybe the sequence could work oh no
43:29it's still too much of this i think it looks like richard of lionheart right just need glue oh well the
43:36gladiator's nearly done do you know my gladiator name the spike the spike how about if we put some of this on the
43:45outside it's like chanel let's try and glue the back of that oh disaster snapped i need to put this
43:55back together how much time have we got five minutes cheeky geese a bit of bling do you know what
44:02me oh no if it falls down i'm gonna run out of time one two come on i'm going to sir handler oh god that's
44:11stuck how long left one minute my naughty little puddings panicking stress oh no just pinning
44:19gonna go through this buckle oh god this could take forever finish a nightmare let's see it needles up
44:29sewers it's time for the catwalk do you think you're enough that's cool it's actually really cool this is
44:37christmas it's christmas yes man
44:41fashion ooh ooh ooh ooh fashion ooh ooh ooh fashion ooh ooh ooh fashion ooh ooh ooh ooh
44:51well i wish it could be christmas every day
44:57work work work work
44:59when the kids start singing and the band begins to break
45:05it's beautiful
45:10yes
45:18good job big hammer big hammer wow he loves a bow got bow envy
45:29it's an absolute triumph i mean it really really leaps out at me that this is decorated gingerbread it's
45:39got very strong hansel and gretel vibes you've managed to pull off this amazing feat of making
45:45something that could feel quite novelty actually feel really fun and chic to wear one thing i just wish
45:51you'd put this icing right over the edge you've got half straight half curve half straight and also
45:57did you sew these decorations or did you iron them on stitch some iron some what did you stitch
46:05well i'll look there's ironed there's iron there's iron there's iron there's iron i think they're all ironed but
46:16but i do think it looks like a gingerbread and you've got a bow
46:21do you like it yeah i do it's great thanks so much
46:34delicious
46:48well i love the idea of doing cheese yeah i like your pickled onions and i love this fabric it's lovely
46:57isn't it but it's puckering because this yellow underneath is longer than the top there it is a
47:04simple dress but the storytelling is absolutely bang on it's a literal cracker it's very distinctly
47:1260s the pearl is reflected in the little pearl in the chain in the handle there's a brilliant label
47:16called mother of pearl yeah and amy powney who was the designer that was her sort of signature detail
47:22she needs to watch out she needs to watch out because there are pickled onion silten dresses
47:26coming for her it is a treat lovely oh thank you i remember a time when you dressed as a lump
47:32of cheese at christmas wedges of cheese yes ramen i've still got your cheese costume have you
47:39you're not having it back
47:44this perfectly reads glass of champagne there's a real elegance to it you've got the front
48:14frothy what the french called the mousse frothing over the top of the glass i am not a hundred
48:18percent convinced by the shape it's really hard to make an elegant curve in one piece of material you
48:26just didn't have the time to do that now it doesn't take away at all from the fact that it's got
48:32tons of impact and tons of elegance the fit on the dress is fantastic and the way it moves that net at
48:39the bottom it's pure sort of ginger rogers business absolutely i love the frill it looks 3d that
48:45reminds me of the old days reams of netting and we've got all this froth you know i tried my best
48:52you've got glitter on everywhere in my hands my clothes but i i feel comfortable with the glitter
48:57i've when i don't have enough glitter on i feel i feel naked well it looks great thank you
49:13i instantly feel like i'm in trouble there's one thing i'm going to say let me know
49:43we've got this piece that's longer than the frill oh gosh yeah but i think it looks great you've done
49:52a lot of work thank you and how was it sewing those on as a complete sewing novice that was tough well
49:59you've handled all of these layers amazingly and left it feeling so light and fluffy it manages to feel like
50:06very very elevated evening wear while still being inspired by a tub of ice cream also this headpiece
50:14it's a bit like one of those triangle wafers you get on the top of a sundae there we go like it's the
50:18perfect shape oh i mean it's a dessert for the eyes it's absolutely brilliant oh thank you so much
50:27i think that i did my dessert all the justice in the world like i looked at it and i felt hungry
50:33i really like it and i would wear it and i'm gonna i'm gonna take it home i was concerned it was
50:39looking like a big breast plate but we've got there in the end be lovely to win wouldn't it be lovely
50:44to win oh it'd be so nice to win something i am massively like a kid at christmas i cannot
50:52wait to find the result out just let me know quickly because i need to know if i've won or not
50:56and if i haven't won i still think i've won there's a lot of fabulous stuff here ain't there
51:04i don't think we've had so many amusing and lovely looking things i mean we've never had others for
51:10a start who's your favorite tom's is brilliant yes told the story it looked edible also i love susan's
51:19it's absolutely wearable to party we came into this morning with anton having come top of the
51:27roost you know he won the pattern he won the transformation today he was hugely ambitious he
51:34handled the dress beautifully bodice piece is a little bit cumbersome tom and susan are top of the
51:42pile yeah here having been slightly below there which means they're dead level in my head which
51:51makes it very difficult celebrity sewers you have been absolutely fabulous and it has been a wonderful
52:04time of year with you but there can only be one winner so the winner of the sewing bee christmas special
52:112025 is
52:13all of you absolutely brilliant
52:30i'm gonna kiss you oh god stop stop it out let's congratulations thank you wonderful well
52:38thank you so much i've won and i never win and i must be delighted to win this is the best thing ever
52:45this is the happiest day of my life you've no idea what this means to me
52:53merry christmas this trophy is just gorgeous i love it i'm holding it up don't ask me to put it down
52:59you want me to do that don't you be normal absolutely no chance anton reached for the top of
53:04the champagne flute he didn't quite make it but what edged it was his ambition in that final made
53:11to measure he had the perfect day yesterday thank you thank you anton is just incredible attention to
53:21detail flair showmanship i'm thrilled for him the children are going to be absolutely over the moon
53:29which is makes it even more special i'm still holding this up by the way i don't have noticed
53:35i want to go deeper into udders because it came natural to me i knew what i was doing
