00:00We suspect the Norse brought the Knights Templar to Oak Island.
00:03Have a look at this.
00:04Wow.
00:06We have steps, then a chamber.
00:09What if it's the church?
00:11This lot is becoming more interesting by the day.
00:14We believe there's some kind of a tunnel in the Golden Egg.
00:18It's getting really loose.
00:20So it's possible we're close to a structure?
00:22Yeah.
00:26There is an island in the North Atlantic
00:28where people have been looking for an incredible treasure
00:32for more than 200 years.
00:35So far, they have found a stone slab
00:39with strange symbols carved into it.
00:42Man-made workings that date to medieval times
00:45and a lead cross whose origin may be connected to the Knights Templar.
00:51To date, six men have died trying to solve the mystery.
00:55And, according to legend,
00:59one more will have to die
01:01before the treasure can be found.
01:04Good morning, Alex.
01:18Alex, how are you doing?
01:19Good.
01:20We set up on the hole?
01:21We are.
01:21Perfect.
01:22An exhilarating new morning has begun on Oak Island
01:26for brothers Rick and Marty Lagina and their team.
01:29So we're on EN 14, just from the Golden Egg.
01:33We are.
01:33Yeah.
01:34Because in the fabled Money Pit area,
01:37they have good reason to believe
01:38that a vast treasure may lie buried directly below their feet,
01:43along with the truth behind a 229-year-old mystery.
01:48Any hole that we drill in this area
01:50could be the source of the metals that we're seeing in the water.
01:52Exactly.
01:53Yeah.
01:53And we're looking for an indication that we're next to a feature,
01:56so soft material coming out of the core,
01:58just like we saw on EN 13.
02:00Yeah.
02:02Adam, what do you got?
02:0389.
02:0489.
02:05One week ago,
02:06the team drilled a borehole on their strategic grid
02:10labeled EN 13
02:11within a 30-by-15-foot region dubbed the Golden Egg.
02:17It is here that recent groundwater tests
02:19have indicated gold, silver, and other metals
02:23have been detected between 80 and 120 feet underground.
02:27That seems to change, right?
02:30It got soft right at the bottom.
02:32And curiously,
02:33at a depth of some 95 feet,
02:36soft, disturbed soil was recovered,
02:39suggesting that a structure or container
02:42of some kind may lie nearby.
02:45There's nothing from the historical record
02:47that we know actually occurred in this area.
02:50Today, the team is drilling a new borehole
02:53known as EN 14,
02:56just five feet to the east,
02:57in the hopes of pinpointing
02:59the possible man-made feature
03:01and determining just what it may contain.
03:06It's getting really loose.
03:09Hey, Terry!
03:10Hey, Mike!
03:11How's it going?
03:12It definitely got disturbed there.
03:14Really?
03:15Yeah, like, the whole run is pretty soft.
03:17Okay.
03:18Interesting.
03:18We'll take a look.
03:22So, 69 to 79,
03:23you said it looks really soft.
03:25Oh.
03:25So it's possible we're close to a structure,
03:28again, at this point.
03:30Hey, Adam.
03:3179.
03:3279.
03:35More evidence of a potential structure
03:38at just feet above the target depth
03:41where water testing has identified precious metals?
03:46Hey, Rick.
03:46Hey.
03:47Hi, Rick.
03:47How you doing?
03:48How are we doing?
03:49Well, we're going down 79,
03:50and Mike says we've got definitely a disturbed area.
03:52So we're taking a look at it right now.
03:55Thank you, Adam.
03:56Let's see what it brings us.
03:58So some potential interest here.
04:01All right.
04:02It's a little softer here.
04:04You figure?
04:04I think so.
04:05Yeah.
04:06A little soft up there,
04:07but we're not really seeing any structure
04:09or material in here.
04:10So another core, core and a half?
04:12Yep.
04:14Soft soil implies men were underground working.
04:1789.
04:18Okay, 89.
04:1989, 89.
04:20Here we go, guys.
04:21So the hope is that we might be in the area
04:24of a structure in this proximity,
04:27and that might lead us to the treasure.
04:31It's a little soft, but not really markedly.
04:35Yeah.
04:36I don't know, guys.
04:37Well, we certainly didn't hit what we were expecting.
04:40No.
04:40But you never know.
04:42Fingers crossed.
04:42Yeah.
04:43We got some soft area,
04:45not as soft as an EN-13,
04:46so maybe we're close to something we don't know about.
04:48Is it possible that the drill may have once again
04:52narrowly missed the source of precious metals
04:55that have been detected in the so-called golden egg?
04:58We know this area is interesting.
05:01Yes.
05:01So I think we stick to the grid
05:03and try to understand what it means.
05:05Yep.
05:06I'm going to stay extremely hopeful,
05:08and I know you guys will, too,
05:09but we've just got to keep going.
05:11Absolutely.
05:12As Rick and members of the team
05:14continue searching for the legendary treasure on Oak Island,
05:18approximately 625 miles to the northeast
05:23in Newfoundland, Canada.
05:24Hello.
05:27Hi.
05:28Hi there.
05:29Welcome to Lance Meadows.
05:30I'm Marty.
05:31I have brought the Oak Island contingent here.
05:33Oh, lovely.
05:34Marty Lagina,
05:35along with researchers Doug Kroll
05:37and Emiliano Zucchetti,
05:39archaeologist Laird Niven
05:41and archaeometallurgist Emma Culligan
05:43are meeting with Loretta Decker,
05:46a manager for Parks Canada,
05:48and archaeologist Kevin Smith
05:50at the National Historic Site
05:52known as Los O'Meadows.
05:54This is, as you know,
05:57Lance Meadows' National Historic Site.
05:59So Lance Meadows is the very first evidence
06:02of European presence in North America.
06:04The Norse here were coming from Greenland
06:06and around a year were in 1,000.
06:10Encompassing nearly 31 square miles,
06:14Lance Meadows is currently
06:15the only verified Viking settlement in North America.
06:19Since its discovery in 1960
06:22by Norwegian explorer and writer Helge Ingstad,
06:26nearly 800 Viking and Norse artifacts
06:29have been discovered here,
06:31in addition to the remains of eight buildings,
06:35including a forge,
06:36for the purpose of producing iron tools.
06:39The reason we came here is because
06:41these two gentlemen went on an expedition to Europe,
06:44and they sort of did a kind of an east-to-west passage.
06:47It led to Scandinavia,
06:48and they found evidence that the Norse
06:51might have been somehow involved on Oak Island.
06:53We followed the trails as far as Iceland,
06:55so we thought the logical place to pick it up
06:57was here, Newfoundland.
06:59In 2023, Doug Emiliano and other members of the team
07:08traveled to medieval sites in Italy,
07:12Denmark, and Iceland,
07:16to investigate an incredible theory
07:19that during the early 13th century,
07:23Norse descendants of the Vikings
07:25helped members of the Knights Templar
07:27transport priceless religious treasures
07:30from Europe to Oak Island.
07:33You see the Templar cross?
07:36Incredibly, at numerous locations
07:38where researchers believe
07:40that both groups intermingle,
07:42the team saw a number of symbols and artifacts
07:45that are identical to others
07:47that have been discovered
07:48over the past two centuries on Oak Island.
07:52Now, Marty and the team
07:54are looking for more evidence
07:56at Lancel Meadows
07:57that may also help connect
07:59the descendants of Vikings
08:01and the Knights Templar
08:02to the Oak Island mystery.
08:04We know from evidence here
08:06that this would be
08:08like establishing a base camp on the moon.
08:10This is essentially a base camp
08:12for resource extraction.
08:13They're coming here
08:14because there's resources in this region,
08:17not just the Lancel Meadows area,
08:19but this entire region.
08:20Well, that sort of segues nicely
08:22into why we're here.
08:23It's not disputable
08:25that the Vikings
08:26or the Norse were here.
08:28What we're trying to figure out
08:29is where they might also have gone
08:30specifically on Oak Island.
08:32You know, I mean,
08:33could they have visited?
08:34Could they have been part
08:35of what went on there?
08:36They may not have been here
08:37during the summers.
08:38This is the wintering camp.
08:40This is probably
08:41where everybody's congregating to
08:43in the fall
08:43after they come back
08:45from the expeditions
08:46which led them further south.
08:47Okay, this is the only proven site
08:50in North America.
08:50Do you believe there are others?
08:52The sagas talk about
08:54another place called Hop.
08:56Hop was a place
08:57where they worked in the summer.
08:58So yes, I do think
08:59there is at least Hop.
09:01And that's not been identified.
09:02That's not been identified yet, no.
09:03But it's supposed to be
09:04somewhere to the south of here.
09:08Icelandic manuscripts,
09:09known as sagas,
09:11are a collection of poems
09:13and stories
09:13authored during the 13th
09:15and 14th centuries
09:16that describe historical events
09:19surrounding the Vikings
09:20that are believed
09:21to have actually taken place
09:23between the 9th
09:24and 11th centuries.
09:27While some describe
09:28the culture's conquests
09:29throughout Europe,
09:31others describe
09:32their explorations
09:33of North America.
09:34So, the other
09:38interesting thing, though,
09:40we know that
09:41they're going further south
09:43because we have
09:44butternuts
09:45and a butternut burl
09:46here in the collection.
09:48They were found
09:49just nearby.
09:50So, in case you're wondering,
09:51butternuts have never
09:52grown here.
09:53Right.
09:53What geographic area
09:54are they known
09:55to have grown in?
09:56The furthest north
09:58is in that
09:59Nova Scotia,
09:59New Brunswick region.
10:01Never here.
10:02That proves they did
10:03go as far south
10:04as Nova Scotia
10:05for certainty.
10:07The butternut seed
10:08infers that the Norse
10:10explored much further south
10:12because that butternut seed
10:15only grows
10:15between New Brunswick
10:18and New England.
10:19And that's important to us
10:20because in order to obtain
10:21that butternut,
10:22they may have came
10:23to Oak Island.
10:25You said that hop
10:25was the summer camp
10:28mentioned in the sagas.
10:30Yes.
10:30So, couldn't hop
10:31be where they found
10:33those butternuts
10:34or could that be
10:36Nova Scotia?
10:37Certainly.
10:38That's real interesting.
10:39That means they could
10:40have gone as far south
10:41as Oak Island.
10:43Yeah.
10:46So, could hop
10:48be Nova Scotia?
10:50Certainly.
10:51If they could travel
10:52from Greenland to here,
10:54it's reasonable
10:54that they could travel
10:56to the Nova Scotia area
10:57as well.
10:58at the 11th century
11:00Viking settlement
11:01known as Lonzo Meadows
11:03in Newfoundland, Canada.
11:05Manager for Parks Canada,
11:07Loretta Decker,
11:08and archaeologist,
11:09Kevin Smith,
11:10have just presented
11:11Marty Lagina
11:12and other members
11:13of the team
11:13with evidence
11:14that suggests
11:15members of the Viking culture
11:17may have traveled
11:19hundreds of miles
11:20further south of Newfoundland
11:21to Nova Scotia
11:22and potentially Oak Island
11:25over 1,000 years ago.
11:28It all starts
11:29to make sense.
11:30But if so,
11:31could it also be true
11:33that descendants
11:34of the Viking culture
11:35helped members
11:36of the Knights Templar
11:37bury a vast treasure there
11:39sometime between
11:41the 13th and 14th centuries?
11:43If it were other Europeans
11:46that were on Oak Island,
11:47I mean, people have said
11:48the Knights Templar,
11:49the people who might have
11:50brought them here,
11:52who knew how
11:53to cross the ocean
11:53at that time,
11:54were these people, right?
11:56Right.
11:57Speaking of possible connections
11:58between the Viking descendants
11:59and the Templars,
12:00we know the sagas
12:01even state
12:02that the Norse visited Rome
12:04to meet with the Pope, right?
12:06The Templars were
12:07a Catholic water,
12:08and that put the Pope
12:09in direct control of them.
12:10Yeah.
12:11Right.
12:12I think all of those sagas,
12:13they all,
12:14when you see
12:15when they're written,
12:16they all,
12:17especially the ones
12:18dealing with this area,
12:19they're all linked
12:19into the church
12:20who are claiming land
12:21to the West.
12:22Yeah.
12:23Yeah.
12:24On the island,
12:25we've gotten some results
12:26in the past
12:27that indicate European activity
12:29in the 13th century.
12:30Yeah.
12:30Which is weird.
12:31Yeah.
12:32So when you hear those dates,
12:33you automatically begin
12:34to think the Norse.
12:35Yeah.
12:36It is well documented
12:38the Vikings began converting
12:40from paganism
12:41to Christianity
12:42as their trade routes
12:44expanded into Christian regions
12:46across Europe.
12:47In fact,
12:49during the late 11th century,
12:51descendants of the Vikings
12:53helped the Catholic order
12:54of the Knights Templar
12:55defend Christian interests
12:57in the Holy Land
12:58during the Crusades,
13:00when many researchers believe
13:02that the Templars
13:03discovered a number
13:04of priceless religious treasures.
13:07But what make
13:08these historical connections
13:09compelling to the Laginas
13:10and their team
13:11are the potentially
13:1312th century structures
13:14on Oak Island
13:15such as Nolan's cross
13:18and a stone-paved feature
13:20in the swamp
13:21as well as the lead cross
13:23that may be directly related
13:25to the Templar order.
13:27And incredibly,
13:28they have also unearthed
13:29a number of artifacts
13:31such as a pickaxe
13:32from deep in the Money Pit area
13:34that have been scientifically traced
13:36to Scandinavia.
13:37It's because of those discoveries
13:40on the island
13:40that we're exploring
13:42this avenue of possibility
13:43as far as
13:44who may have done
13:45the work on Oak Island.
13:47When you look at the timeline
13:48that's starting to materialize,
13:49we're seeing a coalescing
13:52of history
13:53in that the Templars
13:55were thought
13:55to have a great treasure.
13:56They were interacting
13:57with the people
13:58that had the means
13:59and the knowledge
14:00to sail across the Atlantic.
14:02So it's very likely
14:04that it could well be
14:06the descendants of the Vikings
14:07who helped them
14:09reach Oak Island.
14:11This is all incredibly interesting
14:13and we are very keen
14:14to learn more.
14:15So what's next?
14:17Well, come with me
14:18and I'll show you.
14:19While Marty and the team
14:20continue searching for clues
14:22at Lonceau Meadows.
14:26Wow, look.
14:27Looks a lot nicer.
14:28Yeah, look how it's
14:29all smoothed out.
14:30Back on Oak Island,
14:32I'm hoping we can find
14:33that little diamond
14:34in the roof.
14:35Hope you're right.
14:36Gary Drayton
14:37and Peter Furnetti
14:38have arrived on Lot 4
14:40to search through spoils
14:42that were removed
14:43from a mysterious
14:44circular stone feature
14:45located several yards
14:47to the east
14:47on Lot 5.
14:49A stone feature
14:51that has yielded artifacts
14:52from vastly different eras
14:54such as a 17th century
14:57cut silver coin,
14:58a lead barter token
15:00which may be related
15:01to the 14th century
15:02lead cross
15:03along with a mortar-like
15:05substance
15:06that nearly matches
15:07other man-manipulated soils
15:09found beneath Cone E
15:11of the potentially
15:12800-year-old
15:13Noland's cross
15:14and also
15:15from approximately
15:16118 feet deep
15:18in the Money Pit area.
15:22Good signal here, man.
15:23Right there?
15:24Yeah.
15:25Sounds really good.
15:26Rock solid.
15:27Just there.
15:27Okay.
15:40That's a good signal, mate.
15:48Hey!
15:49It's a chunky coin.
15:52We've got a coin.
15:54That's what that is.
15:55Oh.
15:56That's a big coin.
15:57Oh, look at that.
15:58Look at that patina.
16:00Look at that green.
16:02That's been in the ground
16:03a long time.
16:04Yeah.
16:05That is a nice chunky copper.
16:08But a look of it.
16:10Another coin
16:11discovered in the spoils
16:13removed from the round feature
16:15on lot five?
16:16Could it be related
16:17to the cut English coin
16:19that the team
16:20recently uncovered?
16:21Or
16:22might it be
16:23much, much older?
16:26Obviously
16:26the earlier
16:28the better.
16:28Mm-hmm.
16:29Look,
16:30I'll take any of them, mate.
16:31Yeah.
16:32Good find.
16:33Yeah.
16:33Brilliant.
16:34You know where that's going.
16:36Top pocket?
16:37Oh, top pocket
16:38fine for sure, mate.
16:39Right.
16:40Let's find
16:41more of its friends.
16:42That's what we're here for.
16:44As the search
16:45for valuables
16:45continues
16:46on lot four.
16:48Might get wet.
16:51Oh, yeah.
16:52And in the money pit
16:53area
16:53on Oak Island.
16:55More than
16:56600 miles northeast
16:57in the province
16:58of Newfoundland.
17:00Everybody,
17:01this is Ragnar.
17:02Good day.
17:03Hello.
17:04Hello.
17:05Also,
17:06my real name
17:06is Mark.
17:08Marnie Lagina
17:09and other members
17:10of the team
17:11continue their tour
17:12of the historic
17:13Viking settlement
17:14known as
17:15Launce O'Meadows.
17:16I've been trained
17:17in the Viking age
17:19aspect of black swimming.
17:20I've been working here
17:21for 25 seasons now.
17:23Yeah.
17:23To give you
17:24some insight
17:25on why we're here,
17:26in our quest,
17:27you know,
17:27down on Oak Island,
17:28we're starting to suspect
17:29that somehow
17:30the Norse
17:31may have had something
17:32to do
17:32with what happened there.
17:34Last year,
17:35we managed to reacquire
17:37an artifact
17:37that was said
17:38to have been found
17:38in a dig in 1965.
17:41And it's this item here
17:43that Laird has.
17:44We showed that
17:45to an archaeologist
17:46over in Denmark,
17:47and she thought
17:48it was very reminiscent
17:49of the Viking time period.
17:51In 1965,
17:56geologist Robert Dunfield
17:58conducted a massive excavation
18:00in the Money Pit area,
18:02which was thwarted
18:03when seawater
18:04caused his nearly
18:05100-foot diameter pit
18:07to cave in.
18:09Although he was unable
18:10to recover any valuables
18:12on Oak Island,
18:13he reportedly discovered
18:15an iron arrowhead.
18:17And in 2023,
18:19Rick, Doug,
18:21and members
18:21of the team
18:22shared images of it
18:23with historian
18:24Anne Jepsen-Naborg
18:26at the Lelby Viking Museum
18:28in Kerteminde, Denmark.
18:30This is very interesting
18:31to me
18:31because this is
18:32the type of artifact
18:33that I could find tomorrow
18:34in an archaeological dig
18:36around here,
18:37and that could date
18:38from the Vikings.
18:42Do you think
18:43that weapon point
18:44could be made
18:45using your
18:46authentic early techniques?
18:49Uh, it's possible.
18:52I've made arrows
18:53with Viking Age techniques
18:55that look like this.
18:59Excellent.
19:02Do you think
19:03that could be made
19:04using your techniques?
19:07It's possible.
19:08I've made arrows
19:10look like this.
19:11At the Lawson Meadows
19:13National Historic Site
19:14in Newfoundland, Canada,
19:16blacksmithing expert
19:17Mark Pilgrim
19:18has just confirmed
19:19that an iron arrowhead
19:21reportedly found
19:23on Oak Island
19:23nearly 60 years ago
19:25could be
19:26of Viking design
19:27and origin.
19:28Have you tested
19:30anything with it?
19:31I've done XRF scans
19:32on it.
19:33It's definitely not
19:34like 1700's post.
19:36So the scans are ready.
19:37In 2023,
19:40Emma Culligan
19:41analyzed the arrowhead
19:43in the Oak Island lab
19:44using an X-ray
19:45fluorescence spectrometer,
19:47a device
19:48that emits
19:49non-destructive radiation
19:50in order to identify
19:52the elements
19:52that make up
19:53an object's composition
19:54and which can help
19:56to determine
19:57their age
19:57and origin.
19:59I think these levels
20:00would indicate
20:01like pre-1600s.
20:03It may be supportive
20:04of these other dates
20:06from our other findings
20:07on the island
20:07that we have
20:08in a medieval context.
20:09Yeah, exactly.
20:13He was pretty good,
20:14the guy who made that?
20:16Yeah, he was pretty good.
20:19It probably would have
20:20been made by
20:21Bog Orr as well.
20:22Yeah.
20:23So this stuff
20:24on the rock here
20:25that you see,
20:26I can pass it around
20:27to you, right?
20:28You just spread it around,
20:29spread it around.
20:30There you go.
20:31Just pass it around.
20:32That's Bog Orr.
20:34Yeah.
20:34Generally what Bog Orr is
20:36is two major components
20:37is ferrous oxide and sand.
20:38Where you find this stuff
20:39is actually in the bog,
20:41so it's prevalent
20:42in this kind of environment.
20:44A little bit closer
20:45to Nova Scotia,
20:46Oak Island has a swamp
20:47as well.
20:49Bog Orr
20:50is a naturally forming
20:51iron deposit
20:52typically found
20:53in swamps or rivers
20:55and has been used
20:56across Europe
20:57in order to forge
20:58tools and weapons
20:59dating as far back
21:01as the 5th century B.C.
21:03It was also a material
21:05commonly used
21:06by Vikings
21:07and their descendants.
21:09Is it possible
21:10that the iron arrowhead
21:12was also made
21:13with Bog Orr?
21:14And if so,
21:15could it help prove
21:16that the artifact
21:17is of Scandinavian origin?
21:20We have some
21:21Bog Iron
21:22that's taken
21:23from the region
21:24that we can give you,
21:25Emma,
21:25for testing.
21:26Yeah,
21:27I'm really excited
21:27to collect
21:28any kind of data
21:29of Bog Iron
21:30and then in the future
21:31I could compare
21:32Oak Island artifacts
21:32to potential Bog Iron.
21:35Oak Island has become
21:37so complex
21:39in this time
21:40we've spent there
21:41and with so many
21:41different possibilities
21:42that we're just trying
21:43to eliminate some
21:44or gather some.
21:46So this is excellent.
21:49I'm pretty charged up.
21:50I think Rick's
21:51going to be very interested
21:51in the results
21:52of our mission
21:53to Alonso Meadows.
21:54The trip was absolutely
21:55worth doing.
21:56Mark, many thanks.
21:57This has been
21:58very informative.
21:59Really good stuff.
22:00Loretta, Kevin,
22:01thank you very much.
22:02We've got a lot
22:03of data here.
22:03We're going to get
22:04back to the island
22:05and go through it.
22:06Thanks for coming.
22:07Absolutely.
22:08As Marty and the team
22:10finish their visit
22:11at Alonso Meadows.
22:14Oh!
22:16Now that
22:17is a banging signal, mate.
22:20Oh,
22:20it's got everything
22:21going for it, mate.
22:22Yeah.
22:23Back on Oak Island,
22:25Gary Drayton
22:25and Peter Frenetti.
22:27have just detected
22:28another potential clue
22:30in the spoils
22:31that have been removed
22:32from the nearby
22:33circular stone foundation
22:35on lot five.
22:37I think it's out.
22:44Hey!
22:46We've done it again, mate.
22:47Yeah, I see the edge of it.
22:51Oh!
22:52It is!
22:53It's a coin!
22:55Okay.
22:55Yeah.
22:56That is a big copper again.
22:59Now, this
23:00looks a little bit smaller
23:02than the previous one.
23:04I'm hoping this is an oldie.
23:06And what I love
23:07about these type of coppers, mate,
23:09they predate
23:10that 1795 money pit story.
23:15Another copper coin?
23:16Could Gary Drayton be correct
23:18that it predates the discovery
23:20of the money pit
23:21in 1795?
23:24If so,
23:24just when
23:25was it brought
23:26to Oak Island?
23:28And might it be
23:29another important clue
23:30to help determine
23:31just who created
23:32the feature
23:33on lot five
23:34as well as
23:35the original money pit?
23:38We've already found
23:39that clay
23:40that matched
23:40with money pit.
23:41Now we're finding
23:42coins
23:43pre-money pit day.
23:45We have three
23:45different types
23:46of coins
23:47in this area.
23:48Is that a normal thing
23:49to have that type of find?
23:51I'm glad you brought
23:51that up
23:52because we don't
23:53really know
23:54where this coin
23:55is from
23:56or the other one.
23:57We have found
23:57Roman coins
23:58on the lot.
24:00People would have
24:01had various
24:02denominations
24:03of coins
24:05on them.
24:05It potentially speaks
24:07to these people,
24:08whomever they were,
24:09going to different
24:10countries,
24:11different empires,
24:12and then finding
24:14their way here
24:15for what purpose
24:16we don't know.
24:17In addition
24:17to the 18th,
24:1917th and 14th century
24:21discoveries
24:21that the team
24:22has made
24:23on lot five
24:24over the past
24:25two years,
24:26they've also discovered
24:28five Roman coins
24:29in the area
24:30that according
24:30to numismatist
24:31Sandy Campbell
24:32date back
24:33to between
24:341500
24:35and 2000 years old.
24:38So here we have
24:39the Roman coins
24:40that have been found
24:41in Iceland.
24:42And in 2023,
24:44when Rick and members
24:45of the team
24:46visited the National Museum
24:48of Iceland
24:48to investigate
24:49the theory
24:50that Viking descendants
24:51and members
24:52of the Knights Templar
24:53might be connected
24:54to the Oak Island mystery,
24:56they were shown
24:57nearly identical
24:58Roman coins
24:59that the Norse culture
25:00was trading as currency
25:02as much as
25:031000 years ago.
25:05It's just evidence
25:06of an interconnected nature
25:08of everything
25:08much earlier
25:09than we had thought.
25:10That, in my mind,
25:11makes the Norse exploration
25:13more important
25:14to our investigation
25:15on Oak Island.
25:17Is it possible
25:18that the numerous
25:20Roman coins,
25:21the nearly 800-year-old
25:23structures,
25:24and potentially
25:25Scandinavian
25:26and Templar-related
25:28artifacts
25:28that have been found
25:29on Oak Island
25:30offer evidence
25:32that this incredible theory
25:33is true
25:34and also explained
25:37the high rating
25:38for precious metals
25:39that have been detected
25:40across the Money Pit area.
25:43Into the top pocket
25:44this is going.
25:46Brilliant, mate.
25:47That's a two-coin day.
25:48Can't go wrong with that.
25:49Those are rare
25:50on Oak Island,
25:50but they need to be
25:51more common.
25:52Yeah,
25:52and they will be, mate.
25:54The more we go
25:55for all these spoils.
25:57Okay, mate,
25:58I'll put it in the bag.
25:59As a new day
26:03begins on Oak Island
26:04while the core drilling
26:06operation continues
26:07in the Money Pit area.
26:09I have a report
26:11because we had a field trip.
26:13I highly enjoyed it,
26:14but it was also
26:15really informative,
26:16I thought.
26:17In the war room,
26:18Marty Lagina
26:19along with Laird Niven
26:20and Emma Culligan
26:22are meeting with
26:23Rick Lagina
26:23and other members
26:25of the team
26:25to share what they learned
26:27during their trip
26:28to the L'Anseau Meadow
26:29National Historic Site.
26:31My conclusion is that
26:33I think that trip
26:35made it,
26:36in my mind at least,
26:37a lot more plausible
26:39that the Norse
26:40could have visited
26:41this island.
26:42We don't have
26:43a smoking gun,
26:44but what we did get
26:45is a lot of
26:47various facts
26:48that would indicate
26:49that they clearly
26:50had motive
26:51and opportunity,
26:52let's say,
26:53and ability.
26:54Perhaps
26:55over a period
26:57of a hundred years
26:58on and off.
27:00The genesis
27:00was at L'Anseau Meadow,
27:03but they didn't
27:04stay there.
27:06They moved
27:07and they moved south.
27:09So,
27:10one of the things
27:11that adds credence
27:12to the Norse
27:13coming down
27:14this coast
27:15is when you look
27:16at how far
27:17they traveled
27:17from Greenland
27:19down to L'Anseau Meadow,
27:21it's really just
27:22a little short journey
27:24to get to Nova Scotia.
27:25Kevin said
27:27that hierarchy
27:28in the church
27:28was very interested
27:29in claiming lands.
27:31So that means
27:32that the Roman
27:33Catholic Church
27:33almost certainly knew
27:35way before Columbus,
27:37way before
27:38that there was
27:39a continent.
27:39Very interesting.
27:40That was an eye-opener.
27:42No, the church knew,
27:43the Templars knew.
27:46The Knights Templar,
27:48who were in the Middle East
27:49and descendants
27:50of Vikings
27:51are in the Middle East
27:52with the Templars.
27:54You have a 300-year window
27:56when this information
27:58could have been passed down
27:59that there's land
28:01to the West.
28:02And here's how
28:02you get there.
28:03Like I said,
28:04if the church knew it,
28:05the Templars knew it.
28:07And if they were
28:08looking for some place
28:09to take away
28:10some relics
28:11that they recovered
28:12from the Temple Mount.
28:14Nothing we found
28:15would rule that out.
28:16The Norse knew
28:17how to leave Europe,
28:19come to North America,
28:21and get back again.
28:22The church was very interested
28:24in the North Atlantic area.
28:26So we can continue
28:28to research
28:29the descendants
28:30of Vikings'
28:31connection with Templars
28:33and their evolution
28:34because this is important
28:36to understanding Oak Island.
28:38At the end of the day,
28:39on what level
28:40can you say to yourself,
28:42you know what,
28:44the East to West
28:46connection
28:46is now established.
28:49I've always been
28:50a big supporter
28:51of the Norse
28:52coming to Nova Scotia.
28:54I think visiting
28:55Lausa Meadow
28:56kind of reinforced that.
28:58What I'm hearing is
28:59it's harder now
29:00for you to argue
29:01they were not here
29:02than to argue
29:04that they were.
29:06Stop by.
29:06And that's quite a step.
29:08Yeah.
29:09It was a great trip.
29:10And we'll process
29:11what we heard here today
29:12while we look for
29:14more evidence
29:15on the island.
29:16Let's go.
29:18Following the meeting
29:19in the war room...
29:21FN-14's dead center
29:23in the Golden Egg.
29:24So there's some hope
29:25for today.
29:2689 to 99's coming up.
29:28That's our sweet spot,
29:29right?
29:29Yeah.
29:30Surveyor Steve Guptill
29:31arrives in the Money Pit area
29:33to check on the progress
29:35of the core drilling operation
29:37in borehole FN-14,
29:40a borehole located
29:41in the so-called Golden Egg,
29:44where the team has detected
29:45high-trace evidence
29:46of precious metals
29:47between 80 and 120 feet
29:50underground.
29:54Got a big slice.
29:56Yeah.
30:00Play, Horizon.
30:01Pretty firm stuff.
30:08Great to tunnel in,
30:09but no tunnel.
30:10Yeah, unfortunately,
30:11we've got no structure here.
30:14Unfortunately,
30:15we've not yet been able
30:16to find some sort of structure
30:18in the Golden Egg,
30:19but that doesn't mean
30:20we're going to stop.
30:22The preponderance
30:23of the evidence
30:24suggests that the treasure
30:26could be somewhere
30:27within this designated area.
30:29So we persevere,
30:31and you've just got
30:32to keep going.
30:33We're starting to weed things out
30:34because once we've drilled them,
30:36we know they can't be there,
30:38so we vexed them off.
30:39We want to make sure
30:39that there's no place
30:40a treasure chest
30:41or a treasure vault can hide.
30:43Doesn't mean it's not down there.
30:45It just means
30:45we haven't found it yet.
30:46Yeah.
30:48Not this one.
30:48Maybe next one.
30:49as members of the team
30:51move forward
30:52in the Money Pit area.
30:54Later that afternoon...
30:56Every time they come here,
30:58it gets a little bit bigger.
30:59...on Lot 5,
31:01located on the western side
31:03of the island.
31:04Rick Lagina,
31:06Doug Kroll,
31:07and Emiliano Cicchetti
31:08have arrived to inspect
31:09the stone foundation
31:11near the shoreline
31:12after being alerted
31:13that Laird Niven
31:14and his team
31:15have uncovered
31:16even more sections
31:17of the mysterious feature.
31:18You know,
31:20we have some burnt soil.
31:23It appears to be burnt soil
31:24in that test pit,
31:25test pit 20,
31:26which we interpreted
31:27as natural
31:28because there has to be
31:29a blacksmith around here
31:30somewhere.
31:31This lot is becoming
31:33more and more interesting
31:34by the day.
31:38It's a bit too early
31:39to jump to conclusions,
31:41but we have steps going down,
31:44then something that looks
31:46like a chamber or a room.
31:48If it's true that
31:51whoever came here
31:52in the 13th century
31:53to build Nolan's Cross
31:55was a very religious person
31:57or a group of individuals,
31:58and they must have had
32:00a place to worship.
32:04So what if
32:05it's the apse of a church?
32:09This could have been
32:10a ritual place.
32:12The idea that it's a church
32:15is interesting
32:15on several levels.
32:17Really amazing.
32:20Coming up...
32:21What we've just got back
32:22are some results.
32:23What we're seeing
32:24in the water
32:25is just not naturally
32:26occurring metals.
32:28There's something
32:28in that golden egg area.
32:30Excellent.
32:33This could have been
32:34a ritual place
32:35or some place
32:37to worship.
32:38The idea that it's a church
32:40is interesting
32:40on several levels.
32:43On Lot 5
32:44of Oak Island,
32:45researcher Emiliano Sicchetti
32:47has just shared his theory
32:49that the design
32:50of the newly uncovered sections
32:52of the mysterious
32:54circular stone foundation
32:55near the shoreline
32:56suggests it could possibly
32:59be the remains
33:00of an ancient place of worship.
33:02I like Emiliano's
33:04thought, you know,
33:06are there any
33:07consistent measurements
33:08associated with
33:09a construction
33:10from, say, that era?
33:13The problem with that
33:15is we don't quite have
33:16the north wall
33:18and the east wall.
33:20There's so many
33:20strange things, right?
33:22When we first talked
33:23with Professor Gaspani,
33:24we gave him the coordinates
33:25for Nolan's Cross
33:27and we gave him
33:28coordinates for other
33:29features around
33:30just to see if
33:31there was alignments
33:32with everything.
33:33The only other
33:34significant alignment
33:35he found was
33:36with the center
33:36of this pit.
33:37Yeah.
33:38And he felt
33:38that this site
33:39really had something
33:40to do with
33:41Nolan's Cross.
33:42Absolutely.
33:43Yeah.
33:44In 2023,
33:53Italian archaeoastronomy
33:54expert Professor
33:55Adriano Gaspani
33:56shared his research
33:58suggesting
33:59that based
34:00on their historical
34:01alignments
34:01with certain stars
34:02in the night sky,
34:04man-made features
34:05on Oak Island,
34:06such as the
34:07megalithic formation
34:08of boulders known
34:09as Nolan's Cross,
34:11the five stone piles
34:12on lot 15,
34:14and the stone foundation
34:15on lot 5,
34:17may have been created
34:17in the 13th century
34:19by members
34:20of the Knights Templar.
34:22I mean,
34:23the first photo
34:23I saw about this site
34:25was a pile of stones
34:26or whatever.
34:27Look at it now.
34:28I mean,
34:29it evolved into
34:30something way bigger,
34:32way more complex.
34:34Yeah.
34:35We should excavate more
34:36in order to see
34:37because maybe
34:38there are surprises
34:39under there.
34:40Is it possible
34:41that Emiliano Sicchetti
34:43may be correct
34:44about the origin
34:45of this structure
34:46on lot 5?
34:47If so,
34:49would that explain
34:50the lead barter token
34:51that the team
34:52found here
34:52two years ago,
34:54which has been
34:55scientifically linked
34:56to the believed
34:57Templar cross
34:57that was unearthed
34:58at Smith's Cove
34:59in 2017?
35:02It's incredibly interesting.
35:05It continues to evolve.
35:06I think there's
35:07some answers here,
35:08but it's too early yet.
35:11Yeah.
35:12You have to keep
35:13your mind open
35:14to the possibilities.
35:16Emiliano's opinion
35:17that this structure
35:18perhaps is a church
35:20was quite interesting.
35:22I have always believed
35:24that this was
35:24a concerted effort
35:26by a group
35:27or groups,
35:28possibly Templars,
35:29to hide something,
35:30safeguard something.
35:31So it supports
35:33that theory.
35:34Thus, the reason,
35:35obviously,
35:36to continue the work here.
35:38You know,
35:38the more you go on
35:39digging,
35:41there will be
35:42something interesting
35:44coming up.
35:45Yeah.
35:45You should probably go
35:46exploring it further.
35:48You're going to find
35:49something definitive,
35:50but you've got to find it.
35:52Yeah.
35:54We'll get back to it.
35:55Good luck.
35:58Later that afternoon...
35:59Dr. Spooner and Dr. Michael
36:03here with the latest
36:04water sample testing results.
36:07Rick, Marty, Craig,
36:08and other members
36:09of the team
36:10are meeting to hear
36:11a new scientific report
36:13from Dr. Ian Spooner
36:14and Dr. Fred Michael
36:16regarding their ongoing
36:18groundwater testing
36:19in the baby blob
36:20and golden egg
36:21within the money pit area.
36:23So I just want to make
36:25everybody aware
36:26that we did drill
36:27the first X marks
36:29to spot
36:29in the golden egg.
36:31Alex and I
36:31were up at the drill table
36:33last week
36:33and at EN 13,
36:36right around
36:3794 and a half,
36:39there was a four-feet section
36:41there that
36:41was certainly
36:42a much softer area
36:44than above and below.
36:47So we might be close
36:48to something
36:49and we don't know
36:50what it is.
36:51Yeah.
36:52You folks have decided
36:53to drill in this area
36:54because it really
36:55may answer a ton
36:57of questions
36:58with respect to
36:58why we're getting
36:59this persistent anomaly
37:01of these metals
37:02in what we call
37:03the baby blob
37:03and the golden egg.
37:05And what we've just
37:06got back are some results
37:08from the last week
37:09and a half.
37:11For the most part,
37:12most of the wells
37:12showed no evidence
37:13of metals in the water
37:15except in the two wells
37:17that have persisted
37:18in having anomalous amounts.
37:20Those two wells
37:21are GN 10.5
37:23and B.5N-11.
37:27So they're both
37:28on the north and south
37:29end of the baby blob.
37:30So we're almost certain
37:32what we're seeing
37:33in the water
37:34is just not
37:35naturally occurring metals.
37:37And this is, I think,
37:38an important thing
37:40is that it's not everywhere
37:42in the money pit.
37:43If I can jump in there,
37:45the strongest anomalies
37:47we've seen
37:47have been in
37:49the baby blob area,
37:52especially the southern part
37:53of it,
37:53and the egg
37:55overlaps with that.
37:57The other thing is,
37:58in July,
38:00it was DN 12,
38:01which gave us
38:02one of our higher
38:03silver values of 0.7.
38:06So there's certainly
38:07a source
38:08that includes
38:10silver in the egg.
38:13Therein lies
38:14our interest in the area
38:15we were calling
38:16the golden egg.
38:17We're trying to understand
38:19why the metal anomaly
38:20seems to be in that area.
38:22We believe there has to be
38:24some kind of a shaft
38:25or tunnel
38:25we don't know about
38:26in there
38:27where these metals exist.
38:30Wow.
38:34If there's a tunnel
38:35and a chamber
38:36in the area,
38:37there has to be something,
38:38or we believe,
38:39there has to be something
38:40unique in that golden egg area.
38:42Good.
38:44In the Oak Island war room,
38:46Dr. Ian Spooner
38:47and Dr. Fred Michael
38:49have just shared
38:50new scientific data
38:51affirming that the legendary
38:53Money Pit treasure vault
38:54may lie buried
38:56somewhere within the so-called
38:57golden egg,
38:58A 15-by-30-foot region
39:01where the team's
39:02core drilling operation
39:04has recently yielded evidence
39:06of a nearby tunnel
39:07or structure
39:08some 100 feet underground.
39:12We're glad you're
39:13drilling the egg,
39:14golden egg.
39:15We'll sample water vigorously
39:16as that happens
39:17because if we disturb
39:19the source of the anomaly,
39:21it's going to show up
39:22near wells.
39:23And we're hoping to have
39:24some kind of report soon.
39:27OK, hope springs eternal.
39:32Yeah.
39:33Let's hope the golden egg
39:34lives up to its name.
39:36Yeah.
39:37Bingo!
39:38There's one.
39:39We found some evidence
39:40that there were
39:41man-made workings
39:42in this area.
39:44All right,
39:45that's the last sample.
39:46We have the high
39:47anomalous metals values,
39:49so I think it warrants
39:51continuing the dig.
39:53OK.
39:54There's certainly
39:54significant interest here,
39:56but at the end of the day,
39:57theory's only a theory
39:59or a belief
40:00is only a belief
40:01until you hold
40:01the proof in your hand.
40:03Chasing the metals
40:04in the water.
40:06We started out
40:07doing brute kind of things.
40:10Whoa, whoa, whoa.
40:11All right.
40:12Yeah, sure.
40:13Good thing my cat-like reflexes
40:14came in.
40:15We were schlepping
40:16plywood around in the swamp.
40:18We were digging
40:19with our own hands.
40:21We still do.
40:22OK, are we ready?
40:24We're ready.
40:25But we got more
40:26and more sophisticated
40:27by applying technologies
40:29to where we are running
40:31a very scientific operation
40:33right now.
40:36Every time we dig,
40:37that data will actually
40:39help us find this treasure.
40:41And hopefully,
40:43we get to the bottom
40:43of it all.
40:45So what I'm hearing
40:46is there is still hope
40:47that we could find
40:49the source of these metals
40:50yet this year.
40:50We're doing everything right.
40:52Yes.
40:53Excellent.
40:55OK, well,
40:56you have work to do.
40:57I have work to do right now.
40:58So, yeah.
40:59Bye, guys.
41:00Thanks, Dr. Michael.
41:02Take care.
41:04For Rick,
41:05Marty, Craig,
41:06and their team,
41:07another week
41:09of diligent exploration
41:10has produced
41:11new compelling evidence
41:12that a vast treasure
41:14may lie buried
41:15in the Money Pit area.
41:17But as the digging continues,
41:20are they narrowing in
41:21on a discovery
41:22that will change history
41:24as we know it?
41:25Or is the secret
41:27that Oak Island
41:28has kept hidden
41:29for more than two centuries
41:31simply too precious
41:33to let go?
41:36Next time
41:37on The Curse of Oak Island.
41:40This is the golden egg
41:41where precious metals
41:42are coming from.
41:42It could literally be gold.
41:44Could be.
41:45We're due for a win.
41:47The rest of us
41:47were convinced
41:48that they followed
41:49the flood tunnel
41:50on Smith's Cope.
41:52If there's something here,
41:52we should find it.
41:54Cement.
41:55There's a chance
41:56we hit the flood tunnels.
41:57I did do a CT scan
41:59of the surface image.
42:00What do you think that is?
42:02It's related to gold.
42:03It's related to gold.
