00:30The Spesart is a low mountain range and forest area that stretches
00:59across parts of Lower Franconia and across the state border to Hesse.
01:04It is one of the largest, contiguous forest areas in Germany, known for its dense forests,
01:10rolling hills and tranquil surroundings.
01:13The Spesart is dotted with charming villages, medieval castles and historical sites.
01:20The region has a rich folk tradition, often associated with the stories of the Spesart
01:24robbers, which are romanticized in German literature and film.
01:29Depending on your taste, you can find one or two spots here that you will remember fondly
01:34for a long time to come.
01:59There are two campsites from which we were able to explore the region very nicely.
02:07There are a few other places that are suitable as camps during a trip through the Spesart.
02:12Of course, we won't leave those out.
02:15Schluchtern and the Hüten-Heiligenborn campsite are located in the very north of the Spesart,
02:22one of the two starting points of our round trip.
02:26The other place is located in the south, at the intersection between the Tauber Valley and
02:31the Spesart, and our rolling bedroom is located here in the middle of nature, directly on the
02:38Main River.
02:40Both locations are ideal for hiking, cycling or even car trips to explore the area and stock
02:47up the fridge.
02:49Our tour begins in the north and takes us to Brandenstein Castle and the ruins of the medieval
02:55Schwarzenfels Castle.
