00:05It shows Cambodian soldiers about to settle in for a meal in their earthen bunker when
00:10they're suddenly hit by a violent volley of explosives seemingly shot by the Thai military.
00:16The video supports a provocative narrative that Thailand is using its superior weaponry
00:21to enact violence against Cambodian troops simply trying to survive.
00:27Except that video is a fake.
00:30News agency AFP used its Hive Moderation AI Video Detector to find that the footage has
00:35a 99% probability of containing AI-generated or deepfake content.
00:42Perception is everything, and international perception is extremely powerful, especially
00:47for smaller countries like Thailand and Cambodia that depend on multilateralism.
00:53How events are being described and what is said to take place in our borders influences
00:58support from the global community, and that can range from military backing to peace brokering.
01:04So instead of driving discussion on who is the aggressor between Thailand and Cambodia,
01:09this clip highlights a matter that may be even more important.
