00:00When we reached the last night at Wembley Stadium in London,
00:05all of us felt such satisfaction.
00:10We've had so many special moments where just, like,
00:13it just reminds me what a concert can do
00:17if you give it your all.
00:22Then again, no matter how good a tour is,
00:25it's a huge, massive undertaking.
00:28It's hard work.
00:30That's the challenge, that's the adventure,
00:33and that's what every person on this tour is doing.
00:41Every single night, no matter what's going on,
00:45we're gonna do everything in our power to blow your mind.
00:58We gotta do everything in our power to blow your mind!
01:11My goal for the ARES tour is that I didn't want the fans to leave
01:15thinking that they missed out on anything.
01:17One thing I've always tried to do is, like,
01:19tried to do is like give something to the fans that they didn't expect when we
01:24had done the first half of the tour what the fans didn't know at the time was
01:29that I was writing a brand new album the torture poets department and in the
01:33middle of me releasing the album we had to be all hands on deck creating a
01:37brand new era to put into the show to represent that album
01:49doing all of this completely secretly all in like a tiny little break that we
01:54had between Asia and Europe are there sounds from fortnight that are not the
01:59synth sound or do we go into like strings like this feels like a highly elevated
02:06chapter we build this top-secret rehearsal facility for us to lock in the set list
02:13go who's afraid a little bit of down bad probably a verse and a chorus or a
02:21pre-chorus and a chorus and that might be it like I would kind of do surgical
02:25tweakings to each song be like okay these songs but cut out the bridge and the
02:29second verse of this
02:34and then so tell me everything is not about me to make it so that we could fit
02:40this many songs in the show and say they didn't do it to hurt me everyone
02:46and and I want and and double as big for I want it's not like I'm gonna have a
02:52mental breakdown during this song like it's gonna be so fun and then we put
02:59together all new choreography learning choreography all just hearing it in our
03:05heads because they can't play the music on speakers because it's not out yet the
03:09first line is did you really beam me up what I want is for a light to spotlight
03:15right on me like it's the alien ship right into this like crazy like alien
03:22light and then yeah there's an entirely new order of the chapters so I'm
03:33relearning the entire show essentially it feels crazy to like take all the
03:38pieces apart and then put them together in different order yeah and I think I'd
03:42rather feel this way where I'm a little bit confused a little bit like what go
03:47what then being like it on autopilot yeah because I could do the show we were doing
03:53in Asia I could do with my yeah at first we're all like we all fear change but then we're here
03:59because we accepted challenges our whole lives oh my god that was a risk that could
04:03have gone so bad there was the danger that we it could have felt like we had sort of shoehorned
04:08something in or that you know people didn't like the new show as much as they like the old
04:13show I swear to god if I heard people online being like I missed the old show I was gonna be
04:17like oh my god you have no idea how hard this was to do we're gonna get to watch 45,000 people
04:24experience the fact that they're seeing something that's never been seen before
04:28I went out to play our first show of the new set in Paris the crowd has no idea that we've added a
04:36completely new section and rearranged things and and I am so so excited I love having a good secret
04:44when we brought out this new show in Paris it was so rewarding because all of that secrecy and
04:53all of that working during our only time off paid off so much because the fans were so excited it
05:00was such a dynamic new addition to the show now going into the last show in London I have the
05:09opportunity to add to their experience even on top of that Taylor wants to make the last London show
05:17as powerful as possible she's like I want to blow this thing out we're gonna do this right she wants
05:24to do Florida with Florence Welch Florence the Machine performing Florida with Florence is something
05:31I've wanted to do ever since the two of us wrote that song and then it just so happened that she was
05:35going to be available in London you're not nervous about the show you know you know how it runs and
05:41suddenly it's something like Florence coming to do Florida the choreography meets the music meets
05:48automation which is the stage movements and is starting from scratch again I know that when I say
05:55to them I want to perform Florida with Florence I really want to do it with full production I know that
06:00it's some kind of creative brainstorming sessions but I know it's doable because all the dancers the
06:06choreographers the production designers the crew the entire band every person we have is the best one
06:13doing it in the entire industry this is kind of funny we have to rehearse the song we kind of do what we
06:31usually do in the comfort of studio from the road but also trying to keep things from leaking before the
06:38surprise it's a stadium with no roof so there's like fans outside and say I have to turn the PA off
06:44and we have to do it quietly you know it is so much extra work to keep things a surprise let me tell
06:56you I I need a nap just thinking about it but it's so worth it when it when we can actually pull it off
07:02your programming sounds at soundcheck the dancers are finding a place to work on choreography for it
07:10where people can't find out what's happening you know before you know it I'm in a random ballroom in
07:16the middle of the hotel with Amanda at like 9 30 at night maybe then maybe you'd come off there
07:23Florence open up on the into the diagonals maybe yeah with choreography I asked one of my friends
07:33Emma Stone who's done a lot of work in dance in her films you know who have you worked with that you
07:38would recommend for this and she's like there's only one person that needs to be on your list and
07:41it's Mandy Moore I never would have thought that I would be in the same sentence as Taylor Swift ever
07:47in my life you know I've always been a big fan but I funny enough I come from really more film and
07:53television I don't really do artists performance now I understand why I was brought in because she
07:58really wanted to do something different and she likes the storytelling I mean her songs are mini
08:03movies so when I listen to them it's just lyrics and melody swirling with ideas in my head and then you
08:11just start making something yeah is there something about that like thought that yeah and then all of a
08:17sudden it comes out yeah do you want to do seven beautiful gorgeous man love like one two Amanda
08:30Balin the first time that I saw her do her thing she was choreographing the tour she was not a dancer
08:37her job was to show me what I'd be doing with the dancers I would just get so much inspiration from
08:47what she was doing as a performer I just kept saying like you're such a pop star Amanda this was my dream
08:57truly it was my dream to do live shows and tour like this more so than Broadway or anything I just
09:03I always was drawn to this I actually haven't looked at these I just keep throwing them in
09:09I started out by doing small things and then I booked a job as a swing for a Janet Jackson tour which
09:17was oh I'd always wanted to dance for her I went on to tour with Celine Dion what else have I done
09:24oh oh I danced for Lady Gaga for five plus years I toured for five years straight I worked on Glee which
09:31was a long-standing dancing TV show for a while that was a wonderful job I went on to do some films
09:36like La La Land I've performed at probably every major award show with different artists and I've
09:43been a part of many tours as much as you want it to last forever dance isn't a forever career the
09:54demand on your body is not sustainable we can get this strong when you do all those you know wild
10:00movements then this can stabilize your spine helping I have two labral tears in my hip flexors like
10:06things were just breaking down I kind of just decided it was a very tough decision but to gracefully start
10:13to peel myself away from being a professional dancer and to do things behind the scenes I
10:21remember asking Mandy I wonder if Amanda would ever dance with us and Mandy was like ah she's she's retired
10:30she hung up her dancing shoes a while ago at some point Mandy came to me and said hey the team wants
10:37to know if you want to do the show my first response to being asked to the tour was a chuckle and oh hell no
10:43I don't even know if I could do it being involved in the behind the scenes and then doing it on stage
10:48those are two different things I had doubts in my ability I was worried that I wasn't gonna be as good
10:55as I was when I was dancing but at the end of the day even though there was a lot of fear it was just too
11:02wonderful of an opportunity a second chant I get chills it was a second chance that most people don't get to
11:09have we're counting this song in fast state so it'll be a one two three four five six seven eight oh one
11:21two three four five seven eight she says um and a five two three four on five it's the word weed and
11:29you guys are gonna kind of do like a little bit of a deflate and my friends all smell like weed yeah
11:35weed or little babies and you'll roll up uh-huh and on the five of the fifth and my friends all smell
11:44like weed or little one two three four five six seven eight okay just so you have an idea and then
11:51you guys wet loose hey Dewey Amanda and I were in like an empty ballroom last night just like okay
12:03let's just get hope like idiots you just see Amanda and I as you can imagine it's the normal okay
12:08it's a hell of a drug it is always weird I think with choreography because it is true it's like
12:18literally a week ago this thing didn't exist and my friends all smell like weed okay so with the
12:23exact oh do you want to do this and just roughly but oh great I was like why do they all just do it
12:28and then like the dancers become the accessories to Taylor and to the stage and to the whole experience
12:36so it's a really important thing and I take it very seriously you know I always get nervous when I'm
12:43showing Taylor something for the first time because I ultimately I just want to do well you
12:48know like I want to make her happy because I just you know so much respect for her I love her I mean I
12:54was really terrified the first time I had to show her something we can figure this out together
12:59but luckily you know since the very early stages of this her and I have a really nice communication
13:07Taylor can give me thoughts or colors or ideas and I think I'm able to understand what she wants
13:20visually I want to kind of channel like a rites of spring Florence machine like like like it's taking
13:26our body yeah like like fully like like reaching you know like like kind of like um like girl in an
13:34insane asylum slash wood nymph love it yeah so I mean yes wasn't nervous I'm always nervous I'm always
13:42sweating I'm like oh god did I make the right thing is this bad choices hello how are you really good
13:48how are you doing all right do you want to watch one I would think kind of see I'll do uh Florence's
13:53track uh we're just doing the speaker right here yeah yeah okay guys ready to move yes okay go for
13:59one two three oh I love that go and the city
14:24oh my god
14:50and then feel like you guys can play here
15:07and then yeah you made this like wave wow could it be kind of cool huh cool I hate that it's happening
15:16without us there you could do it earlier if you want just didn't know if it was whoa so epic back
15:24there and no one's gonna look at it no no because they're gonna be looking at you and I almost wish
15:29that me and Florence could be on that I mean that would be fucking amazing and she's up for it yeah
15:36I'm worried if me and Florence are here there's people aren't gonna look at it and I and that
15:41bothers me and also I think Florence is like gonna be really shut she's totally down for for like being in the mix and doing cool stuff
15:48and I did my best like in there to rest all of the bodies and I've never played in my body and in my mind
15:55they sink into the smoke oh it'd be awesome if it goes down
16:00is that a bad thing to say in the song then it rises and did you know and totally right
16:06then it all rises at the same fucking time and it's awesome and everyone sees it
16:12good okay let's run one more time and now that I've had this chat with Taylor then I can fix all
16:18we have all the elements I just now need to rework them okay good job guys great job
16:22a lot of the time when you are casting for a tour you know choreographers will sometimes have it in
16:30their head that they want a specific body type they want a specific look they want only women they
16:37want only men it's it they people can get very opinionated about things looking very uniform that's
16:45not what I wanted to do with the Ares tour I feel like when you look up on stage as a fan if you see
16:51people that represent you your friends the people you see in the world that's I think much more
16:57emotional and more connective and powerful I really wanted everyone to look up on that stage and think
17:03I see myself in that person
17:06spaces like the space that Taylor is curating on a day on a night-to-night basis I wish we had more of
17:16that right even outside of entertaining it's so important to be seen to be heard to be understood
17:25my background as a dancer I had a lot of teachers and professors who were not so kind mostly around
17:37my size and and if I wanted to be a professional dancer I would need to lose weight I remember doing
17:43an audition and the director of the company said to me okay so what are we gonna do about your body
17:48in life some people are going to try to tear you down they want you to do something else other than
17:55the thing that you are in love with and then there are kind people who ground you and in my experience
18:03that's my mom and my brother it's important to know I came from a family with an excess of love right
18:12my mother sacrificed a lot for my brother and I to just have experiences and so my brother he fell
18:22in love with sports I fell in love with dance and we were sort of navigating our training at the same
18:29time middle school high school college and it has been the joy of my life to watch him thrive in something
18:39that he loves so so much now he plays in the NFL and I watched my brother go to the Super Bowl three
18:46times I graduated college and thought I was gonna be teaching dance for the rest of my life and I
18:53remember getting a email that said there's a closed audition we cannot disclose who the artist is but
19:00it's being choreographed by Mandy Moore I didn't have like a dollar to my name at the time and I called my
19:08brother I was like listen I don't know what this is but something is telling me that I have to be
19:18in this room he was like okay we will make it happen and he bought me a flight
19:24when he came into the audition I was just like he's magnetic I mean he's a great dancer his smile is like
19:37a thousand watt smile you know he's really well trained he just embodies what I felt was like the
19:45spirit of what these people need to be Cam is someone who absolutely lights up not only the stage but just
19:52our entire vibe as a tour he's just so himself I don't want dancers that blend in I don't care about
20:00them pulling focus I want them to pull focus I want you to feel like you saw an entire crew of
20:07individual stars on the stage now knowing that spaces like this do exist for me that allow me to be the
20:20fullest version of me with with all I have to offer in this body as it exists right now this feels like my Super Bowl
20:32I didn't leave my hotel room yeah woke up with a cat on my head
20:44oh it's a good app we'll get you a temporary one okay yeah morning hi
20:51bonus day is so important because setting a precedent with the heiress tour is really important to me
21:06because people who work on the road if the tour grosses more they get more of a bonus and these
21:12people just work so hard and they are the best at what they do so every single person on the crew
21:19I've handwritten them a note it took me a couple weeks but it's fun to write the notes it's like fun
21:25to to think about everybody's lives that they're gonna go back to and the time off they're gonna
21:30have and the you know the kids they haven't seen because they've been away from months and it just
21:34making that worthwhile for them is like really it just it feels like Christmas morning when you finally
21:41get to say thank you bonus day so each one is in its own baggie and I was thinking we can lay them
21:52out oh let me see the wax seal you wax sealed every one of these things yeah and I got in the fire
22:02department almost had to come I want to show you this Taylor six of the audio guys got this tattoo
22:08says cruel summer 152 shows oh my god and then I don't know crazy I don't know if you remember but
22:16on reputation why is it a grim reaper I have no idea they have to keep it like scary they can't like have
22:23like a tattoo of like a butterfly and a kitty cat I think what that means is 152 dates almost killed
22:29them but they made it oh my god that is exactly what it is that's what it means the reality of it
22:35yeah Jesus yeah I'll go behind today get rid of the bags a bit forensic
22:39everybody has the same message on their card so I was hoping you could open it but before before
23:00you look at yours I just wanted to say guys this this leg of this tour has been harder than anything
23:07I've ever done in a live setting and you guys have taken this on with such excitement and such
23:13curiosity and such the endurance you've shown um but the spirit you've shown how much you've given
23:19to these crowds that gives to me every single night the tour has done really well thanks to all of
23:25our hard work so if you will kindly read this message Taylor Swift okay oh there's Cam we've traveled the
23:40world like we set out to do we've dazzled the crowds but we've missed family too my full gratitude doesn't
23:47come from a bank but here's all this just to say things you loved him
23:57my father was the one that presented the checks to our drivers
24:15and he presented handwritten letters from Taylor it's incredible I know tour truck drivers
24:21and I've asked the artists usually give out these big bonuses unheard of
24:25what's wrong Max he's emotional oh my god do you need a hug are you okay I'm gonna pass out
24:35and the first walks uh you know it felt nice if you were gonna slow first and then you round the corner
25:02the heat everybody's got their things they're good at uh it's taken me a really long time to be even
25:10fine at choreography Mandy knows how to approach teaching me choreography from a lyrical perspective
25:18what were you doing this these little steps yeah they're just steps um yeah so just starting with
25:23your uh did you think oh yeah almost really oh good town you'll get arrested I don't do eight counts I
25:32learn based on what syllable of the lyric I'm attaching a movement to and I can't really learn
25:38any other way I've tried Texas Florida should be yeah I didn't know if it should be like sing it then
25:45you throw to them or sing Florida there you go that's what I thought yeah yeah oh sorry to get
25:52out there and learn the choreography in 30 minutes and remember to hit this spot hit this mark this
25:58dancer's gonna come over and stand next to me for this moment front of 90,000 people like my brain would
26:05explode it's an absolute challenge not to mention the whole time she's doing this she's singing and
26:15doing all these things at the same time so it's a lot like juggling for three and a half hours learning
26:21the choreography it's not just doing a step for the sake of doing a step it's all very visual and it
26:28makes sense to me narratively it also is interesting to be in a position where like you know this is a
26:35team of experts and there's something about that that keeps me on my game and focused and locked in
26:42it's one of the elements of like where that kind of pressure is a privilege because they're not
26:49messing up so it better not be me okay so I feel good okay is it okay if I yeah because we're gonna
26:58put quarantine tomorrow so we'll have you okay perfect perfect happy if you I love it I love it I love it I
27:03think it's gonna be so special beautiful job guys beautiful job thanks for the song
27:08my only job I'm excited about seeing the show again you know the driver asked me oh is this your
27:21first time to the show I was like uh no yeah I don't you know my knee is doing better and I don't
27:29really want to be in the wheelchair I need it a little bit but to get you there yeah but I want
27:36to dance tell them I'm gonna tell them because I feel like a hypocrite if I'm sitting in the
27:40wheelchair section and I start popping off you know I think they'll come and take you gonna start what
27:45poppin off and is that the move something like that sometimes it's a shimmy sometimes it's a roll
27:53and when does that when do it is I have so many and a lot of times it's you guys it's choreography too
27:59like I don't know the name it's this way it's like that that I do that yeah shake it off shake it
28:08I do that move too oh are you ready for it doom doom doom that that's my song I love that one this
28:20experience has been really amazing for me it's okay
28:26I've watched you make so many sacrifices
28:40it's okay
28:43so many for us to be able to do what we're doing and to follow those dreams with every part of us
28:58yeah and I am grateful that you're here to see it yeah because Colin and I being able to do what
29:12we love to do and such grand spaces it's product of how you love us and do so I'm I'm I'm grateful
29:26that you're able to see the fruits of your labor in this way and I will never not have you in these
29:39spaces with me and in celebrating with me because just as hard as I've worked I'm very clear and very
29:50conscious of how hard you've worked for us to be able to do so which is why I try my hardest to take
29:56so much care after you I know I know I love you I love you this will be a good show I know you're
30:05gonna enjoy it I'm gonna dance I know
30:07you're here you made it
30:18I'm Mandy oh my gosh what an honor hi it was so amazing guys this is gonna be amazing
30:34this is so big no it is it is and it's also it's like a lot of ground to cover here
30:41so we're gonna show you and then like the choreography is like we do something and they
30:46and it affects them like where we're just like Florida but and they're like I have performed on
30:52big stages but this is not like I thought I just show up and I run around like because that's what
30:57I do at my own shows I just show up and I run like I just run around you're gonna come up on that
31:03back lift but you'll see it and I have never done a lift you have it oh they're so fun you're gonna
31:09have so much fun and we'll when I got there I was like okay now this is your choreo I was like oh no
31:14no wait wait you want me confused I don't do this I'm gonna fuck this up
31:19Jenny one two three you split
31:24I got drunk and I dare to wash me away barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of wine well me and
31:33my ghost we had a hell of a time yes I'm haunted but I'm feeling just fine all my girls got their
31:41licks and their crimes I'm watching my husband this deal no one asks any questions great okay great so now
31:50this is Karen and and that and to me is behind you and rough here so you guys are nice and safe
31:56this is gonna start rising up on so I did my best okay great and she's gonna lay down or she's gonna
32:01kind of come into if you're okay with this so she's just gonna lay her head here and it'd be great if
32:06you wanted to connect to her head on like some things and do my best to late to rest all of the
32:10bodies that have ever been on my body so it kind of makes my best to late to rest all of the body
32:17beautiful been on my body and in my mind they sink and raise your arm beautiful no sorry on is that
32:25is that a bad thing to say sorry about that yeah so sink into the swamp you're still down yes yes sink
32:33into the swamp song up I've got it okay good now good so you pack your life away it's a weight up shit
32:43storm back in Texas Florida beautiful one hell of a draw back center do it again Florida
32:51we're similar in that the persona is huge but the person is soft and so I think that's why we get
33:02along externally the thing is really big but like when we're together we're just like silly and goofy
33:10seeing the show the most beautiful thing was the crowd I like it was just like the love and the vibe
33:20yeah I could I was just like this all the pockets of like girls in their dresses like dancing I was
33:26like there's so much joy and like and like like femininity that's not there's no shame around it
33:33oh it was so yeah Natalie and Odie are standing right here so you just head to the back two girls
33:39and then you're gonna have your footprints right there and you just gotta go in the middle and I
33:44think turn back front yeah and then we'll take you down and then Dewey will be there to get you at
33:50the end okay yeah oh god this is gonna be so fun can we yes I would love Taylor are you good to run
33:57this too from a top with the lifts and everything no that was all we got could you want to try one
34:07all right yeah ready to go down let's go in my first lift and are you okay if I kind of talk you
34:16through and I said go right yes perfect what
34:20oh
34:22I've been feeling so
34:42I keep waiting for you but you never come as this
34:47in my head
34:48I don't know what you think
34:50me now to the prom and
34:53pulled out away and said marry me
34:56Juliet you never have to be alone
34:59I love you and that's all I really know
35:03I talk to your dad you'll play out a white dress
35:07it's a love story
35:09baby just
35:10baby never ever ever ever getting back together
35:16getting back together
35:18yeah
35:20yeah
35:22oh
35:30I used to think that we were forever ever
35:33and I used to say
35:35never say never
35:38He calls me up and he's like, I still love you and I'm like, I'm just, I mean, this is exhausting, you know, like, we are never getting back together.
35:48Nah, bruv.
35:48Ah, getting back together, we can be through you, we can be through you, we can be through you, we can be through you, we can be through you.
36:08They said I was a chick, I guess it must be true.
36:15And my friends all smell like weed or little babies.
36:22And the city weeks of driving by so safe.
36:28Little did you know your home's really only a town you're just a guest in.
36:35So you look your back, no way just to pay for a time, shut down and dance in.
36:41Florida, it's one hell of a picture of Florida.
36:48Florida, it's one hell of a picture of Florida.
36:51It's one hell of a picture of Florida.
36:53It's one hell of a picture of Florida.
36:54It's one hell of a picture of Florida.
36:55London, Wembley Stadium.
36:58My friend Florence showed up to surprise you.
37:01So how does that make you feel?
37:07Working with my name when it came.
37:10I got drunk and I gave it to wash me away.
37:14Barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of water.
37:17Well, me and my ghost, we had a hell of a time.
37:20Yes, I'm haunted, but I'm feeling just fine.
37:22All my ghost got that lace in their cries, but she and my husband disappeared.
37:29Well, no one asks any questions here.
37:33So I did my best, too late to rest.
37:36All of the bodies that have ever been on my body and my mind, they sink into the storm.
37:43Is that a bad thing to say in a storm?
37:49Well, did you know your home's really old?
37:52It's time you'll get arrested.
37:55So you pack your life away just to wait after a shitstorm back in Texas.
38:01Florida, it's one hell of a picture of Florida.
38:08The feeling of coming up for the first time in that lift, it was kind of landing on Mars
38:19because I'd never seen the stage lit up before, the sound of the crowd.
38:24That was really extraordinary.
38:26You know, it's like you see this cultural moment from the outside and I suddenly was inside of it.
38:31It was wild, but it was really fun and completely terrifying.
38:36Also, Taylor's my friend and I know her as this very cozy person and I came out of it.
38:43I was like, oh my God, it's fucking Taylor Swift.
38:45I was like, oh my God.
39:08You know, I used to kind of be leaving the shows
39:37and seeing people walk home and think,
39:40I really hope they got what they've been waiting for.
39:44I hope they got what they've been saving up their money for.
39:52There's a feeling I have of such pride and satisfaction
39:57because when I leave the Ares tour, I never wonder that.
40:05There's just like this magic in the air.
40:07All these particles of shimmer and glitter and confetti
40:13and girlhood and friendship bracelet beads
40:16and, you know, magic in the Ares.
40:20Ares.
40:22Ares.
40:23Ares.
40:23Ares.
40:24Ares.
