Indian Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has revealed that he met Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran — just hours before the Hamas leader was assassinated inside a high-security Iranian military complex. Gadkari says he shook hands with Haniyeh while representing India at the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Iran later confirmed that Haniyeh was killed around 1:15 a.m. on July 31, 2024, in a secure IRGC-guarded facility. Reports suggest either a short-range missile or planted explosives may have been used — though authorities have not confirmed the method. Iranian officials have hinted at possible foreign intelligence involvement, but no public confirmation has been made.

Gadkari says the incident shows how advanced technology is reshaping modern warfare and national security — and stressed the need for strong defence and cyber-capabilities in the future.

00:00Today we're looking at a dramatic turn of events involving Union Minister Nitin
00:25Gadkari, Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, and a high-security assassination inside Iran.
00:36Gadkari recently revealed that he met Haniyeh in Tehran just hours before the Hamas leader was
00:43killed, and what followed highlights how technology and modern warfare are reshaping national security.
00:51Gadkari explained that he had traveled to Iran at the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
00:58to represent India at the swearing-in of Iran's new president, Massoud Pezish Khan.
01:05All the foreign dignitaries, including ministers, ambassadors, and world representatives,
01:10were staying at a five-star hotel in Tehran. It was there that Gadkari noticed a man who,
01:17unlike others, was not a head of state. Curious, he walked up, shook hands, and asked who he was.
01:25That man was Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of Hamas.
01:33Gadkari recalls seeing Haniyeh later at the official ceremony, walking alongside Iran's
01:39president and the chief justice, while other delegates followed behind. Everything seemed calm,
01:46routine. But only hours later, that changed. Gadkari says that at 4 a.m., he was abruptly woken by a
01:55knock at his hotel door. India's ambassador told him, Sir, we have to evacuate. When Gadkari asked why,
02:04he was told that the Hamas leader he had just met had been assassinated in his room.
02:14Iran later confirmed that Haniyeh was killed around 1.15 a.m. on July 31, 2024, inside a secure
02:23military complex guarded by the Revolutionary Guard. His bodyguard was also killed.
02:29But the biggest mystery remains – how was he killed? Reports say a short-range missile may
02:37have hit the building. Others suggest explosives were planted inside the guesthouse. Iranian authorities
02:44have not confirmed which version is true. Gadkari highlighted this uncertainty, saying,
02:50no one knows from where the missile came or how it entered. Some theories even claim his phone may
02:58have been tracked and the attack was carried out with extreme precision.
03:06For Gadkari, this wasn't just a shocking coincidence. It was a reminder of how technology now defines modern
03:14warfare, national security, and even political power. He stressed that countries need futuristic capability
03:22in defense, infrastructure, and cyber technology to remain secure. He pointed to Israel as an example of
03:30how strong technological and military capability can shape a nation's global influence.
03:37Meanwhile, Iranian officials have suggested Mossad may have been involved,
03:42though Iran has not publicly confirmed that claim. The assassination has added another layer of tension
03:49in an already volatile region and raised questions about how secure even the most protected locations
03:57really are. And for Nitin Gadkari, it was a first-hand reminder that in today's world, technology
04:05doesn't just shape development, it can also decide life and death.
