00:00Hello, everybody, and welcome once again to Giants Live.
00:23We're here in Sacramento, California.
00:25We're almost ready for this year's World's Strongest Man Finals.
00:28But while they get themselves sorted here and hopefully reinforce this stage an extra bit,
00:32across the ocean, there's still one more qualifying event to be held,
00:36and it is the World Tour Finals from Glasgow.
00:39There, against the rowdiest, most raucous atmosphere you'll find anywhere in the sport,
00:43we're going to be seeing big dogs like Tom Stoltman and big logs with the Log Lift Challenge.
00:49Scotland and strength go hand-in-hand because of that Braveheart sort of feeling.
01:0316-year-olds all the way up to 60, 70-year-olds up in Highland,
01:06they're just naturally strong boys.
01:08They live on farms.
01:10People just associate Scotland with being a very, very strong country.
01:13The history of strength started in Scotland.
01:19You know, the historic stones, the battle of the clans,
01:22who would be the bodyguard for the clans chief or the king or whoever it was,
01:27whoever could lift the heaviest stone.
01:29And with that in the modern era, you know, Tom and I,
01:32we've really kind of held on to that kind of, that history in it.
01:38You know, and it's no surprise that Tom's the greatest that's ever been at Atlas Stones.
01:42You know, Tom would have been the king's bodyguard,
01:44probably the king of Scotland back then, heaven forbid.
01:48This was a path pre-chosen for him by whoever it might be,
01:55but this was his path that he was supposed to find for him to find that joy in life
02:00because finding that joy is really special and that's what I take from it.
02:05Like, it's where I got that tattoo in my arm of Tom winning the first time
02:09the world's strongest man in 2021, that embrace that we had
02:13because it's one of the most proudest moments of my life.
02:18You know, I'm a straw man at the end of the day
02:21and I wanted to end a year in a high and come to Ireland's live Glasgow
02:24and go out with a bang at the end of the World Tour Finals.
02:29I want to beat Tom. I've always wanted to beat Tom
02:32and I feel like, you know, we've had the potential to beat Tom for quite a few years
02:35and it'd be nice to actually, you know, finally do it.
02:39Tom's a three-time world's strongest man and, you know,
02:41he deserves all the credit that them titles obviously carry.
02:44As they're mine, obviously Tom's titles trump mine.
02:48But different comps, different events, you know, people are beatable.
02:51No one's unbeatable.
02:54You have to bring nothing but your A game,
02:56otherwise Tom will just walk straight past you.
02:58So when he raises the level, it makes you raise the level
03:01because he is, he is Tom's total man.
03:08He has won this show.
03:09He is also three times world's strongest man amongst other titles.
03:11But to pip him to that first shot,
03:15that'd be something special, wouldn't it?
03:18You want to go after that guy who's on his own surf
03:20because the pressure's on him.
03:22Maybe I am an underdog.
03:24Say the underdog's got the biggest bite.
03:26Well, put a big hole in him tomorrow.
03:28I can't wait.
03:31You know, I'm probably the one that's getting hunted.
03:33But I'm going to try my best to stay as far away from my prey as I can.
03:37Welcome to Scotland, a country of history, a country of strength.
03:52Almost a millennia ago, the three powerhouses were William Wallace,
03:57Robert the Bruce and Rob Roy.
03:59Fast forward to present day and it's Sir Chris Hoy,
04:02Sir Andy Murray and potentially a man who's literally head and shoulders
04:07above the rest.
04:08The three times world's strongest man, Tom Stoltman.
04:12He's won this event before,
04:14but this time there are a number of other men looking to stop him.
04:19Yes, thanks Radzi.
04:22This is Glasgow.
04:25So let's start with, well,
04:26the reigning official Scotland's strongest man
04:30earned him a place at tonight's contest.
04:33Callum Crozier.
04:37The British Bears, what they call this guy.
04:40The biggest strongman event of his career to date starts now.
04:44Ryan Bennett.
04:47Jack Osborne competing in the log lift only tonight.
04:51Made look like a geography teacher.
04:53Very powerful man.
04:54From Ukraine, Pilpiak.
04:59Just the latest in a factory line of incredibly strong men from Ukraine.
05:07From Canada.
05:08They call him the train, making his Giants' live debut.
05:13James Jeffers.
05:15Another debutant.
05:19Former collegiate football player came second at America's strongest man last year.
05:24Tim Buck.
05:27The Ghanaian gladiator, known for his fighting spirit.
05:32A real showman as well.
05:35Lovely muscles.
05:36Evans Nanna.
05:39Another big British star on the rise.
05:42The flying Flynn placed third at Britain's strongest man this year.
05:45Andrew Flynn.
05:48Back from Canada.
05:50Well, one of their strongest exports.
05:52Placed third at world's strongest man in 2021.
05:55The Wolverine.
05:56Maxime Boudreau.
05:57From the Czech Republic.
06:01Finished third at this year's Europe's strongest man.
06:03Just 23 years of age.
06:06Andre Foytu.
06:10This guy smashed the Welsh deadlift record at our last event.
06:1414 years as an infantryman.
06:16Great at rugby too.
06:17Gavin Bilton.
06:21Two-time world's strongest man runner-up.
06:24Very much on a comeback trail this year.
06:26Placed third at Europe's strongest man.
06:29The Terminator himself.
06:31Matthias Kieliszkowski.
06:36A two-time Europe's strongest man.
06:39Won his second European title this year.
06:41They call him the future.
06:42He's here tonight.
06:44Luke Richardson.
06:47And finally.
06:50The Albatross himself.
06:53Three-time world's strongest man.
06:55What this event in 2023.
06:58Tom Stoltman.
07:00In front of a very excited home crowd.
07:04And unless you think you can do any better.
07:12Those are your strongmen.
07:15As we move into the World Log Lift Challenge.
07:19And it starts at 170 kilos.
07:22They want to get a British record.
07:23Those who are Brits.
07:24221 or above is what they need.
07:26And then of course.
07:28There's Iron Bibby's world record at 231.
07:30Will we get there?
07:31Well.
07:31So far we've seen eight men drop out.
07:34And I'm afraid Callum Crozier didn't get any lifts at all.
07:38At the top.
07:3842.
07:39He skipped.
07:40As for Kieliszkowski.
07:41A big surprise.
07:42He managed to get up the 170.
07:44But then injury at 180.
07:46And he's out.
07:49I'm afraid the Achilles tendon that's plagued him for years now.
07:54Has once again reared its ugly head.
07:58So one of the favourites.
07:59Has already dropped out.
08:01We go on to 190 kilos.
08:02And we're going to go for two platforms at the same time.
08:05They can lift in their own time.
08:06Oleg from Ukraine.
08:08And there's Jack Osborne.
08:11Who is one of the favourites for the log today.
08:15He's talked about getting the British record.
08:17So this should be pretty easy.
08:19If he's going to get anywhere near that today.
08:25And it's very easy for both men.
08:29Some synchronised pressing there.
08:31That was good stuff.
08:33190 kilos.
08:35Gosh, it's not that long ago that...
08:37It was Laurence Charle.
08:39Actually, Mikuliskovski's coach tonight.
08:41Who did that as a British record.
08:43Things have moved on.
08:45But this would be a record for Luke Richardson.
08:47190 kilos.
08:48Worry to achieve it.
08:50He'll be going head to head.
08:53With Big Tom Stoltman.
08:55Three-time World's Strongest Man.
08:58A man you'd expect to be 200 plus kilos tonight.
09:03So this is a big moment for Richardson.
09:04This is...
09:05To try and not give away too much of an advantage.
09:09To those who are likely to go on and do better.
09:11Oh!
09:12Missed it.
09:13Well, Stoltman locks out.
09:15Gets it.
09:16Now, will Richardson have a second go?
09:19I think he's worth it.
09:21It's almost as if he...
09:22Lacked the confidence a bit.
09:23He certainly threw it fast enough overhead.
09:26He's just got to stick it and hold it.
09:27Yes!
09:32And he locks out.
09:33Yes, he does.
09:37So two more go clear at 190.
09:39190.
09:42Man vs. Log continues when we return.
09:45With Andre Foytu eyeing up the under-23 world record.
09:48Jack Osborne chasing the British one.
09:50And Tom Stolman looking to beat them both in his backyard.
09:53Who will come out on top?
09:55We'll find out next on Giants Live.
09:57Well, welcome back to Glasgow.
10:11Where the World Log Lift Challenge continues, Colin.
10:14That's right.
10:15We're on to round four.
10:16200 kilograms, 440 pounds.
10:18And four men have gone so far.
10:20Tom Stoltman has been successful.
10:22Richardson, Polpiak and Bennett have all failed.
10:26So, just two men to come.
10:29And it's Foytu.
10:31Man who's had his eyes set on the world record for a long time.
10:35Skipped 190.
10:36How easy will 200 be?
10:43Manages it.
10:45Yeah, he doesn't exactly dominate it though, does he?
10:48No.
10:49But it was enough.
10:52We've seen that in the past with the likes of Zabiscus.
10:54He would come out and skip weights and not look pretty convincing.
10:57And then pull it out when it mattered.
10:59Now, Jack Osborne looked very convincing at 190.
11:04He was choosing all the weights on the way up.
11:06Almost made it look easier than 190.
11:13I think he did.
11:14So, we have three men going forward.
11:18He's all shoulder power.
11:20Didn't use his legs much there at all.
11:22Osborne.
11:22Very impressive.
11:23Tom Stoltman then.
11:29Will be attempting 210.
11:33Yes, for Stoltman, this is all about accruing points for the overall win.
11:38He won't really care so much if Osborne goes on and does whatever.
11:43He gets a success here.
11:44It'll be really good points in the log.
11:48Luke was quite clear.
11:49He wanted big power from his little brother.
11:53Oh, the first attempt.
11:55A little shaky there.
11:57In fact, he's just seen stars of it.
12:00He's got to take his time.
12:01Step back.
12:03He knows the score.
12:04He knows what to do.
12:05Sometimes you bend down.
12:06You clean it up.
12:07And suddenly, it just crushes your windpipe a little bit.
12:12It's got to take a bit more air in as you pick it up.
12:16Keep it methodical.
12:20Well, up it goes.
12:22But there it stays, I'm afraid.
12:25Well, Tom Stoltman bows out at 210.
12:31The second attempt, a lot better than the first.
12:33But he'd already burned just too much energy in that first failure.
12:38And we move on with Andre Foytu.
12:41Also going for 210.
12:43A weight he handled last year at the World Log Championships comfortably.
12:49So this isn't any kind of a personal record.
12:51But is it the stepping stone to Moore?
12:56Well, he's pleased with that.
13:00Foytu nails 210.
13:03He's got the lead.
13:05Now, then, what can Jack Osborne reply with?
13:10Picture of concentration as the Czech man drives it overhead.
13:16He'll be desperate to at least go 220, I'm sure, to break his own Czech record.
13:20But Osborne, though, this, I think, is really the last stepping stone before a British record.
13:29I could see him doing that today.
13:30221 kilos of Luke Stoltman if he nails this well.
13:33Oh, it was better than the last.
13:38Good Lord.
13:39Jack Osborne making that look like fun.
13:43Well, there could be a lot more in there.
13:45That was really impressive.
13:47Look at the way he drove it off his chest.
13:48It flew up.
13:49Barely had to press it with his triceps.
13:51And there's definitely 10, maybe more kilos in there.
13:57Well, Osborne has decided to skip 220.
14:01And for Foytu, well, this would be a junior world record.
14:06He'll be 24 soon.
14:07Making him a very old man, no longer a junior.
14:11Yes, and also a Czech record.
14:12So, 10 kilos past what he did last year.
14:17If he gets this, it's an under-23 world record.
14:21It does, surely.
14:23And it is.
14:27Well, he's having a nice night.
14:31Well, well, well.
14:32Pressure on Jack Osborne.
14:34Now he skips this.
14:35He's going to go for the British record, Osborne.
14:38And that was really solid.
14:44What can Jack Osborne reply with?
14:47Here's coach, Laurence Charle.
14:52Encouraging him.
14:55Yes, Charle has coached him since before his first ever competition.
15:00As we move on to 222 kilos.
15:05222 kilos.
15:07This is for the British record.
15:12Here he goes.
15:14For one kilo more than Luke Stoltman's British record of 221 kilograms.
15:23Huge breath in.
15:24Oh, can he hold it?
15:27He can.
15:28And he's got it.
15:30The British record now belongs to Jack Osborne.
15:35Well, what a night.
15:37And I'm sure he'll probably call it a day there.
15:39That's a massive moment for him.
15:41A little stagger, but he's still got it up.
15:43Well, he's with Radzi now.
15:46Jack Osborne, you've just made history a British record in the log press.
15:51How are you feeling?
15:52Ecstatic.
15:52You know, it's like those first few lifts weren't moving very well.
15:56But as I kind of got heavier weights and that going, I actually started pressing normally and properly.
16:00So, especially having this huge crowd here does get you amped up and get the adrenaline going.
16:04Especially when you get to those heavier weights.
16:05How did you do it?
16:06Because just as you said, it seemed to get easier the heavier the log got.
16:10Kind of lazy in training.
16:12So, when the weights get heavier, I actually kind of like get more energy into it, more enthusiasm.
16:18It is lazy.
16:19But having this huge crowd here and the bigger weights on there does get you fired up and that.
16:23And especially when it's like a record on there, you know, you have to go for it.
16:27So, you have to put everything in.
16:29Jack, thank you for that entertainment and history made.
16:32Thank you very much.
16:34Osborne with the British record 42, setting a new under-23 world best.
16:38And Tom Stolman having to settle for third behind them both.
16:42While Osborne now bows out, the rest of the field continues with the World Tour final.
16:47Radzi has more.
16:48It's time for event number two and this one is a fascinating one.
16:52It is the load and push.
16:54It is simple in theory.
16:56Take those three implements in relay form and load them into the skip.
17:00The problem is those implements are a sandbag, a tyre and an anvil with a combined weight of 360 kilograms.
17:08And after doing all that lung-busting action, you then load them into this skip, aka the wheelbarrow of destiny.
17:16You pick it up at the end and run the 20 meters as long as humanly possible.
17:21The fastest man wins and it could come down to who wants it most.
17:25Well, three men have gone so far and Ryan Bennett of Great Britain has finished all of it in 51.58 seconds ahead of Maxime Boudreau.
17:36Philippiak, only two sections.
17:38So Crozier, Jeffers and Flynn next to take on the load and push.
17:44I'll be honest, budgets were down this year.
17:46This is just a bunch of stuff we found in the garage.
17:48And it's Crozier, Scotland's strongest man, who's pushing Jeffers here for the lead.
17:56All three men onto the tyre, pretty much equally.
17:59Flynn on the far side is very quick though.
18:02Starts to make a bit of a lead here.
18:04That's Flynn and Crozier making fast work of this.
18:0851.58 to beat.
18:10150 kilo sack.
18:13This is a real brute of a finish.
18:16And that's just the loading section.
18:18There's left a wheel around these barrows.
18:21Lift them and go.
18:22This is going to be a very quick finish.
18:25Very tight finish.
18:27Call this one.
18:29England on the far side.
18:30Scotland on the near side.
18:31Who's going to get it?
18:33Well, it looks like Flynn to me.
18:35Crozier in second.
18:36And a little bit more pedestrian there from the Canadian Jeffers in the centre lane.
18:43He'll be a bit disappointed with that.
18:45His Giants' live debut.
18:50Flying Flynn.
18:52There's a bit of steering involved, isn't there?
18:55A little bit more than you'd think.
18:56More than you'd think.
18:58I can't remember the last time I drove a skip.
19:01On to Tim Buck, Evans, Nana and Gavin Bilton now.
19:04And Iga.
19:10Yes, Big Gab, the Welshman on the far side.
19:12Nana from Ghana in the middle.
19:15And this man, Tim Buck, too.
19:18He's from the USA.
19:23Nana's so quick.
19:24This is just a tailor-made event for him.
19:27He's got that speed, hasn't he, Evans, Nana?
19:30Yes, he just loosens his belt a little bit there as well
19:32to be able to get down to this sack.
19:34Oh, he's a little bit slow in the pickup.
19:36And it's Tim Buck.
19:37Again, a Giants' live debut on.
19:40Doing really well here.
19:44Nana moves on to the push.
19:45Buck as well.
19:46Bilton's slightly behind.
19:49Now, what's the bit like of Nana?
19:51It's normally tremendous.
19:5549.58 to beat.
19:57I think he's going to manage that.
19:58He's charging towards the line.
20:0051.21 for Evans-Nana.
20:03I'm not sure where Buck thinks he's going.
20:06But he finds the line.
20:1157.83 there for Tim Buck.
20:15And he certainly took the longest course
20:17when he was driving down with that skip.
20:20As for Nana, though, he looked really impressive.
20:22Luke Richardson, Tom Stoltman, Andre Foytu.
20:29Foytu's done so well already tonight.
20:33Well, these are your three big favorites
20:34now that Kiddushkowski is out of the competition
20:37before this title here
20:38at the World Tour Finals in Glasgow.
20:41And Luke Richardson, a man who's been plagued with injuries.
20:45And he pulled out something special here.
20:47He's already done it once this year,
20:48winning the European title.
20:50And he's well ahead of Tom Stoltman.
20:53The man on home soil
20:55who is expected to win.
20:58So much pressure on big Tom's shoulders.
21:02Look at that.
21:03Determination.
21:04He's almost sinking into the ground, Richardson.
21:06As he moves to the push.
21:09Very quick in the pickup.
21:11He's got a great deadlift, Richardson.
21:12Now, can he steer this straight?
21:14Steer it home and under 49.58.
21:16He might just do that.
21:18I think he might.
21:20I think he did.
21:22By 600s of a second, he has done.
21:25Stoltman not far behind.
21:27All of them are going to get good points for this event.
21:3051.91 to Tom Stoltman.
21:32Foytu, 52.52.
21:39That's Foytu carrying great points in the log, of course.
21:44Richardson just playing catch-up here, but that's the best of anybody.
21:48He will get maximum points.
21:50Over to Radzi.
21:52Luke Richardson.
21:53Load and push down.
21:54Load and push down extremely well.
21:55How does that feel on your body when you're performing that?
21:58Yeah, it's a really tough event, obviously.
22:00It tests the fitness, but I'm fit enough.
22:02I won't say I'm a fit lad, but I'm fit enough.
22:04I tore my bicycle off four and a half months ago and had the surgery for that, and that bag
22:10was heavier than the one that I tore it on about four and a half, five months ago.
22:13So, yeah, just proving again.
22:15The amount of people who said I'm done, I'm done when I say I'm done.
22:19So, that's it.
22:20Still winning a load in events.
22:21I don't care.
22:22What would you like us to know about you, by the way?
22:24Because you mentioned the journey.
22:25We know about the injuries, but what about the heart?
22:28Well, it speaks for itself.
22:30Many a man would have quit a long, long time ago.
22:32Not me.
22:33This is my life.
22:34It's what I do.
22:35It's what I'm good at, and I think that if you've got a gift, you should never neglect
22:37it.
22:38So, regardless of what happens, you've got to go for it.
22:41And you are going for it.
22:42Three more events to go.
22:43Cheers, mate.
22:44Luke with a fine win by a very fine margin, beating Andrew Flynn by just four one-hundredths
22:51of a second, and less than a second separating the next four men, from Evans Nanner in third
22:56to Tom Stoltman in sixth.
22:59Overall, it's Luke who's the early leader, three points clear, with Stoltman tied in second
23:04place right now with Andre Foytu.
23:06A point behind them, Ryan Bennett, with Andrew Flynn and Evans Nanner then very much in the
23:11fight still for a podium place.
23:14There's work for three-time world champion Tom to do then here in Glasgow, with clearly
23:19no shortage of rivals for the World Tour Finals crown.
23:23More drama awaits when we return on Giants Live.
23:26Welcome back to Glasgow, where so far the crowd at the Ovo Hydro Arena have had plenty
23:42to cheer about, between the big biceps and the pecs.
23:46Records broken in the log lift, and a three-way tussle now atop the overall standings.
23:50What's next?
23:51Over to Colin and Danny.
23:52Well thanks James, and yes the carry and drag, very confusing name Colin, what do you do?
23:57We have to carry a duck walk and then drag an anchor, 10 metres then 20, 60 seconds is
24:02the time limit.
24:03And this is what's happened so far.
24:05Well out in the lead so far, the Canadian Maxime Boudreau.
24:09Jefferson 42 just behind, as we move on to Tom Stoltman, Lyon Bennett, Callum Crozier.
24:18The Scotsman closest to camera.
24:21And they're off.
24:23First of all this duck walk.
24:25Crozier's going the wrong way entirely.
24:27If you want to look cool as a strong man, this isn't the event for it.
24:36Still to do a 360 degree turn with that weight.
24:39Very impressive, but this is an event he was looking to do really well at.
24:43This is the harder element though for the lighter man like Crozier.
24:46Big Tom's got that body weight to power at home.
24:51Ryan Bennett doing his very best to try and catch him, but surely this will be Stoltman's.
24:5732 seconds to beat, he's outside of that.
25:00But he sees at home and around about 37.61, Bennett in second and now Crozier.
25:08Wow, two men have failed to finish this.
25:10He's still going to finish it despite that little pirouette with the duck walk.
25:13Yes, an unusual start for Crozier but managed around 49 seconds.
25:19This was the moment.
25:21Yes, a little moment of madness.
25:24He soon realized though, didn't he?
25:26Oh, it's painful.
25:29To Evans-Nana, Andrew Flynn and Luke Richardson now.
25:34Look at Kuma.
25:36Nana, yeah, nearly dropping the gun there.
25:39Well, it's Luke Richardson who's doing very well here.
25:46Oh my goodness, please don't injure yourself again, Luke.
25:51Now, can he recover here?
25:52All three men pretty much equal at the start of this drag.
25:55Great footwork though for Richardson, the Englishman.
25:57But Nana also, pretty much even Stevens.
26:00In fact, he's in the lead, Nana.
26:03Well, Nana takes it.
26:05Oh, into the crowd.
26:07Nearly takes out the crowd.
26:0929.85 for Luke Richardson.
26:1228.35.
26:14I'm sure he's fine for Evans-Nana.
26:17He went down heavy there.
26:20He gave everything for that one.
26:22That's the equivalent of diving in a 100-meter race, isn't it?
26:26As for Richardson, oh, the big wobble there.
26:29That could have been a whole lot worse.
26:31Good recovery from Richardson.
26:33Probably not the result he wanted.
26:35And there's 100% commitment from Nana.
26:38Evans-Nana, what would success look like for you by end of play today?
26:42I think I've already won.
26:45Why?
26:46The crowd.
26:48I love they make time to come see us and giving them something to go back home.
26:52Gives me happiness.
26:54My mum always said, not everybody to be a champion.
26:58People are winners, but a champion is someone who makes people's day.
27:02Who gives people something to think about.
27:04And I'm here to be a champion.
27:05Well said, sir.
27:07And finally, we can't take the smile off your face.
27:08Man, I love what I do.
27:10Seriously, I've given so much to be here.
27:14And getting something back in return makes my day.
27:18I'm so satisfied, mate.
27:20We're satisfied talking to you, mate.
27:22It's a pleasure.
27:22Thank you so much, brother.
27:25Lovely stuff from Evans.
27:26The Ghanaian winning the crowd and event three.
27:28Richardson second, despite his stumble, with Andrew Flynn flying into third.
27:33Timbuk, meanwhile, has withdrawn from the event, injured.
27:36Overall now, Luke Richardson's lead is up to five and a half points, while Nana moves into second spot.
27:44And Andrew Flynn is currently edging Foytu and Stoltman for the third podium position.
27:49It's tight, though.
27:50Can he hang on?
27:51He's with Radzi now.
27:52Andy Flynn, currently top three at an international show.
27:58Things are going pretty well for you.
28:00Things are going very well for me, and I'll take it.
28:02But it's also very close.
28:04How are we feeling at this point?
28:06I always know, going into this, that the Wrecking Bowl will be the deciding event.
28:09I think that's going to set the tone for, like, the last event as well.
28:13So this is all or nothing now.
28:15So with yourself, we know dynamically you're brilliant.
28:17You're a brilliant athlete.
28:18How are you statically when it comes to just that forearm lactic?
28:21Uh, I'm not putting it down unless my body gives way.
28:24I've done it twice already, so I kind of know a guideline for what I'm aiming for.
28:27About 85, 89 seconds I've done before.
28:30So I can go and see what they're doing, and then I've got it in my mind.
28:33Mate, good luck.
28:34Thank you very much.
28:35Well, it's the Wrecking Bowl hold now.
28:39That's the Wrecking Bowl.
28:41They've got to hold it.
28:42270 kilos.
28:44Just don't let go.
28:45Yes, 600 pounds in the hands, and this is what's happened so far.
28:48Callum Crozier, the Scotsman, on top.
28:51One minute, 17 seconds, ahead of Gavin Bilton Bennett in third.
28:57Well, in fourth, Tom Stoltman.
28:59Things not really going his way tonight.
29:01Potentially his bicep recovery still going on.
29:06As we move on to Foytu and Jeffers.
29:13That's a tough result for Stoltman.
29:16Probably going to lose a lot of points.
29:17Let's see how these two men do.
29:19The only way this event could be improved is if we turned it into conquers.
29:24Can you imagine?
29:27I like that.
29:27Swinging it in.
29:30Probably be kind of bad for the back though.
29:32Both men having to dig deep in this event psychologically.
29:37Shutting their eyes.
29:38Keep forward.
29:40Waiting, hoping to hear the other guy drop it.
29:42It's a short handle they have to hang on to.
29:46Doesn't make it any easier.
29:47The only three fingers are really on it.
29:50Now then, we're up past 30 seconds.
29:52One minute, 17 from Crozier.
29:54Scotland's strongest man, which is a delightful result for him and the crowd.
29:58Some nervous glance at the clock from Jeffers there.
30:04But Foytu remains inside himself.
30:09Jeffers just leaning back more.
30:10Trying to get his body weight into helping him here.
30:12He's got to be careful though.
30:13If he starts to rest that on his thighs, he will get cold for it.
30:17As it slips down.
30:18I think Jeffers is about to go.
30:20The Canadian on the right.
30:23That's that.
30:26A little smile on Foytu's face.
30:27He likes that.
30:30A little smile.
30:30A 1.17 and a half to beat.
30:32And he has done that.
30:36He's sucking this up.
30:37He's in the lead by some margin now.
30:39Can he go to one minute 30?
30:41Looking really strong.
30:43Legs starting to wobble a bit.
30:45He's going down.
30:47Well, that is great work from Andre Foytu.
30:511.31, 3.7.
30:54That's a huge time.
30:55Very hard to see that being beaten.
30:58It's one of the best times we've ever seen on this implement.
31:01Such a tough character, Foytu.
31:03To Wolverine himself, Maxime Boudreau and Andrew Flynn.
31:10He's had his eye on this event, hasn't he?
31:13He's in a great position right now overall, Flynn.
31:15If he can just consolidate it with a good result here.
31:20For some reason his wrecking ball is spinning.
31:22Yeah, that is a bit strange, isn't it?
31:23Maybe disco balls is the way to go.
31:25I'm just throwing ideas, you know.
31:30I'm just trying to help.
31:32I'll meet you at the design stage next time, Danny, I think.
31:37Flynn looks strong.
31:39It doesn't seem to be putting him off anyway.
31:41It isn't twisting the chain at all.
31:43As for the Wolverine, he's starting to wobble around a bit.
31:47Just past the 32nd mile.
31:49We still got a whole minute to go before we get up to Andre Foytu's incredible.
31:52One minute 31.37.
31:56They're passing Tom Stoltman right now and things are just getting worse for Big Tom.
32:04Boudreau starting to perhaps waver Flynn like granite.
32:10And in a night where there's only five events.
32:15A real bad event like what Tom Stoltman's had and all these men.
32:19There you go Boudreau.
32:20It might not be great for him, but it's even worse for Stoltman.
32:23It's going to cost him a massive amount of points.
32:25Now, can Andy Flynn zone in on that one minute 31?
32:29He's nothing he slipped at all here.
32:32He's still holding firm.
32:33One minute and 20.
32:3511 seconds to go.
32:37He's looking at that clock and he knows what he has to do.
32:391.31.37 to beat.
32:43Proper stoic look about him.
32:44He's so close.
32:47He couldn't wait.
32:491.31.75.
32:52He sort of enjoyed that.
32:53He couldn't.
32:54He really couldn't wait.
32:55It's that feeling when you've carried shopping for too long and you finally release.
32:58The pain is even worse.
33:00Good for Andy Flynn.
33:02The spinning ball certainly didn't put him off.
33:08There's a pain pleasure moment.
33:11Well, that's certainly thrown down a gauntlet to Luke Richardson and Evans Nanna.
33:14Yes, our final pairing.
33:20Oh, Nanna.
33:21Well, he should be allowed to go again.
33:23That was just a stumble with the kit.
33:24He is, but his time will start late.
33:27Yes, he hadn't locked out.
33:31So that means he could continue.
33:33Yes, had he lifted it and held it for a few seconds would be a different story.
33:38But Luke Richardson's just got to zone out and really focus on what he's about here.
33:44It looks very solid now, Nanna, doesn't it?
33:48Sometimes that jolt of adrenaline when things go wrong right at the start
33:52can just drive you on to an even better performance.
33:55Five seconds is the difference we're talking about here.
33:59So whatever the clock says, add five seconds for Nanna.
34:04We'll get the official time from head ref Magnus Fair Magnusson at the end of this.
34:07He's not looking comfortable, Richardson.
34:16He's not enjoying this, is he?
34:19Can you enjoy it?
34:20Is it possible to enjoy this?
34:22If you're of a strange disposition, yes.
34:26Oh, they're in different positions, Nanna.
34:28They're starting to be pulled forward.
34:30Richardson's being pulled to the ground.
34:31I don't think he's got any more.
34:32No.
34:33Well, 1.13.45 for Luke Richardson.
34:38Fingers are opening up.
34:40Look at this.
34:42Well, that's brave from Evans Nanna.
34:451.19.81.
34:48His time.
34:49Yes, the five-second penalty from this stumble.
34:53Regrouped, picked it up, did a great time in the end.
34:56Finishing third.
34:58Andrew Flynn takes the win, but edging out Andre Foytu
35:01by just a few tenths of a second.
35:03Nanna in third with overall leader Luke Richardson in fifth,
35:06and Tom Stoltman in tenth.
35:08His comeback hopes look done.
35:10With one event to go then,
35:12Luke Richardson's lead is down to two and a half points
35:14from Andrew Flynn, who's moved into second.
35:16Evans Nanna now only half a point clear of Foytu in the race for third.
35:20Stoltman lying fifth, a remarkable 13 points off his usual top spot.
35:26Tom Stoltman, the day obviously hasn't gone as you,
35:28dare I say, have liked it to.
35:30How has it gone from your end?
35:31Yeah, I mean, I had no expectations.
35:33I came in saying I was just doing log,
35:34and then last week I said I did a full competition.
35:37I've not competed in Glasgow for like two years,
35:39so I thought, you know what, let's just do it.
35:41But I just wanted to go get through the show
35:43without any touch wood bicep injuries or anything else,
35:47and see how the bicep held up.
35:48And like I said, the bicep feeling out so far so good.
35:51So, one four down, one left.
35:53Is the Stones going to end on a high?
35:55Yeah, this is the one I'm most scared for.
35:57I'm not touching out the Stones since August.
35:59So, yeah, my heaviest stone I've been up to in the gym.
36:03The last three months is 140.
36:04So, if I get past 140, totally if I get past 140,
36:07we're going to be happy.
36:08So, even Tom Stoltman's got questions about the Stones?
36:11Yeah, that's what I tore my bicep on,
36:12and it's still a wee bit of a dark spot.
36:15So, that's exactly why I wanted to do this as well,
36:17to see, I mean, this is a heavier set of Stones.
36:19So, if I can do this, I know my biceps 100%.
36:21So, then I can push on for next year.
36:23Good luck today, mate.
36:26The Albatross hoping to finish on a high,
36:28but it's two other British contenders who battle for top spot.
36:31Flynn and Richardson, who will take the crown?
36:34The Castle Stones will decide when we return.
36:51Welcome back to Glasgow and the World Tour Finals.
36:53Over to Colin and Danny.
36:55So, one event to go, Colin.
36:58And it's Luke Richardson on top.
37:00Andy Flynn currently in second.
37:01Nana in third.
37:02And look at that.
37:03Tom Stoltman down in fifth.
37:05Coming into the Stones.
37:06The Castle Stones.
37:08And they're the big set.
37:09Finishing on 200 kilos.
37:1060 seconds to try and do the lot.
37:12So far we've had five men go and it's Gavin Bilton on five Stones, 29 seconds, who's in the lead.
37:21So, Ryan Bennett and Tom Stoltman next.
37:27Perhaps Tom can find some redemption here after a disappointing night for him.
37:34If he's going to find redemption in anything, it's going to be slam dunking these Stones on.
37:38That's for sure.
37:39Looks pretty good so far.
37:41120, 140, 160 kilogram like nothing.
37:4529.98 to beat.
37:47He's halfway there with one stone to go.
37:50He's going to stumble on any.
37:51It'll be the big 200 kilo one.
37:53Leibolder.
37:55He nails it.
37:5723.52 for Tom Stoltman.
37:59A fantastic result.
38:01That's about seven seconds quicker than what Gav Bilton did.
38:04So, he's way in the lead.
38:06That's a huge result for him.
38:09And in many ways it sets him up for what's coming ahead.
38:15This was really a test for him.
38:17Not so much just about winning.
38:19Just getting through it.
38:21And Ryan Bennett failing to do the fifth there.
38:24But he's had a great night in what is one of his first ever big internationals.
38:30Stoltman though passes the test.
38:32So, Foytu and Nanna next to take on the Stones.
38:35Don't forget our podium result tonight.
38:37Whoever is top three will qualify for the world's strongest man finals.
38:43Nanna from Gano on the right.
38:45Foytu from the Czech Republic on the left looking really quick.
38:48Neither man exactly a giant in terms of height.
38:51So, these first few Stones can be a problem.
38:53And Nanna indeed clips the Stone on the way up with the third.
38:57This will be something else if Foytu were to get this up.
39:00He could even beat Tom Stoltman.
39:01Well, only half a point separates these men.
39:04Whoever wins this.
39:06And I don't think it'll be Nanna.
39:07Well, we will see Foytu in the finals.
39:13Well, Nanna didn't hurt himself there.
39:14He doesn't appear to have.
39:17Only just went too quickly, too early at the fifth Stone when he needed just to regroup.
39:22He's had a bit of time.
39:23No, no.
39:23Exhaustion kicks in, of course.
39:25Well, Evans now now managed four.
39:28May be injured.
39:31What an impressive run, though, by Foytu.
39:33He's really come a pace except for the tackiest t-shirt to his hand.
39:38That was the most disappointing t-shirt throw of all time.
39:41He needs to work on that.
39:45Well, he's 23.
39:48He'll be in the World's Strongest Man finals.
39:51On to Andrew Flynn and Luke Richardson.
39:56Final pair.
39:56Richardson on the right.
39:58The man in the driving seat at the moment.
40:00Flynn on the left.
40:01He's really attacking.
40:02Oh, no.
40:04That's a bad error from Flynn.
40:06If it doesn't go in, you've got to replace it.
40:08And he's done that.
40:08He knows that.
40:10This is going to cost him heavy, though.
40:13Richardson going through the motions here now.
40:16He just needs to put in a good performance.
40:17And he will be the World's Tour finals champion.
40:20This would crown it off.
40:22Here it is, the final stone for Luke, the future Richardson.
40:26And he does it.
40:2931.03 for Luke.
40:31And look at this from Flynn after a disastrous start.
40:35I don't know about flying Flynn, but fighting Flynn,
40:38fighting back, doing six stones in 38 and a half seconds. Impressive.
40:42Yes, both men should feel pretty proud of themselves there.
40:46Here's Richardson's fiancee.
40:50Two titles he's taken this year.
40:52Europe's Strongest Man.
40:53And now the World Tour finals and Flynn, podium, one of the big ones.
41:01It's all about this man, the future.
41:04He looks really solid from start to finish.
41:06No injuries.
41:09He'll be thrilled with that.
41:10There he is on top.
41:11He'd like to see that at World's Strongest Man.
41:13We'll have to wait and see.
41:14Foytu and Flynn round out the podium.
41:16But look at Stoltman.
41:17I think a good performance by a man looking to get through this contest unscathed.
41:23Well, tonight belongs to him.
41:25They call him the future.
41:27They might be right.
41:28And he's with Radzi now.
41:31World Tour finals champion, Luke Richardson.
41:34How does that sound?
41:35Yeah, it sounds great.
41:37Yeah, I feel really good.
41:37Body feels good.
41:38It was tough to show that.
41:40Like, I actually felt a bit better before Stones than I felt for event two.
41:43I was flagging.
41:44But yeah, job's done.
41:47Come here.
41:47Got my gold trophy.
41:48Go home.
41:49See my dog.
41:50Spend some time with my fiancee Laura and my best mates.
41:52And then back to work.
41:54What a performance.
41:55What an athlete.
41:55What a man.
41:56What a story.
41:56Cheers, mate.
41:57Absolutely awesome from this guy.
41:59And actually, what a brilliant season.
42:01It's been so many moments.
42:02So without further ado, let's remind ourselves of some of the best bits with a good old-fashioned
42:06mega-mantage.
42:14Thank you papa.
42:34Bye.
42:40Bye.
42:42Bye.
42:43Bye.
42:44Bye.
42:44Bye.
42:44Strongout Open winner, 20-25, is hot for the all-summer.
42:53Here's a new British record holder, Jack O'Pourre.
42:59Roll to our finals champion, Rattata!
43:14Rattata!
43:26Rattata!
43:30Rattata!
43:34Rattata!
