00:00it's really special felt so much love from everyone six years ago when I was battling
00:12leukemia we put out a desperate worldwide plea to find a donor I'm a father with three kids and
00:20a beautiful wife and so there was no other option but to survive without a bone marrow donor there's
00:28no question I wouldn't be here today obviously we were desperately praying that you know someone
00:36would be a match for him the day that we were told we were in hospital together and they sorry
00:43and they came in and they told us and I was obviously so relieved but the best news was
00:57that it was actually the donor was going to be a 12 out of 12 match I was 18 when I signed up for
01:06the bone marrow registry at college our sorority offered points in a competition we were doing
01:12if we signed up once they called they told me I was a perfect match and there was really no
01:18question I was going to do it around 80% of stem cell transplants in Australia actually come from
01:30international donors they are literally saving the lives of Australian patients I think in Australia
01:35there is a missed opportunity for bringing more of the younger generation in if they hadn't had it at
01:41school where I went then I probably would have never joined because of her I feel fantastic now my
01:48health is good the cancer's gone I've got another daughter mum I'm living my life to the fullest every day
