00:00What if you can walk out of here with a check for $1.5 million?
00:09So, me walking out of here with essentially what would be an advance is appetizing.
00:15This particular piece means a lot to me.
00:18The deal needs to be right.
00:20100%.
00:21The 1.5 is nice, but we know his card's going to sell for 1.5.
00:23Of course it's going to go for more, yes.
00:24So, it may need to be a little higher.
00:27What would make you happy walking out of here to lay with?
00:30Today, right now?
00:31Right now.
00:33You will write the check right now?
00:34Yes.
00:35You got the funds?
00:38I'd have to, of course.
00:40Hmm.
00:43Got an expensive wedding.
00:49$3 million?
00:50$3 million?
00:51I'll tell you what.
00:52What I can do and I can justify, write your check right now for $2 million.
00:57$2.5 million.
00:58In fact, let me just...
01:02I will literally...
01:07I'm just going to do it right now.
01:11This guy's crazy.
01:14I got to get the number zeros right.
01:18$2.5 million.
01:20Do you have a deal?
01:25You are a crazy person.
01:27I've been told that before.
01:28You're crazy.
01:29I've been told many times.
01:30Uh, I have to say, my heart tells me to do this deal with you, and so I will do the deal with you.
01:38Great.
01:39Great.
01:39Now give me that.
01:40Logan is walking out of here with $2.5 million in hand as an advance against the final proceeds.
01:51And he's getting a percentage of everything we sell in this special auction.
01:55Nobody else would dare give away a piece of everything they're selling.
01:59I'm doing it because I'm Ken F. and Golden, and I know that I'm going to get my consignors 50% to 200% more than they would get otherwise.
02:10There is one thing.
02:11What?
02:11I need the card for another month.
02:13At least.
02:14Some appearances.
02:15Some stuff I got to take you to.
02:17Take the check.
02:18That's our deal.
02:19Yeah.
02:19It's binding.
02:21Hit me up when you're done with that, and you'll hand it back off to me.
02:24Okay.
02:24I trust you, obviously.
02:24You have my word.
02:25I know.
02:26I know.
02:26I know where you live.
02:27This will go through?
02:28It's going to go through.
02:29You see this?
02:31Zoom in on this.
02:32This is the biggest check I've ever received.
02:34This is crazy.
02:35Who would have thought?
02:36Some kid from Ohio.
02:37There you go.
02:38Thank you, Ken.
02:48Who said it, who we got to knock off?
02:50Because you mixing with me is like keys in a sock drawer.
02:53I'm at the top, and that's what I'm going to say.
02:56Carly, you're on the mound.
02:57This is a game.
02:58It counts.
03:00Oof.
03:02She keeps missing.
03:03I keep striking her out.
03:05Yes, you do.
03:05I got the right daughter playing baseball.
03:08We're going to have to save your equipment.
03:10You know, your best hit balls.
03:11We're going to have to sell on eBay.
03:15I am excited about my kids' baseball season.
03:18Perfect.
03:19Not only did Paul make the 12U district team going for a repeat in state championship,
03:25but possibly World Series this year, but his younger sister, my daughter Carly, who's
03:29seven, made the boys' 7U tournament baseball team.
03:33Dude, if he hits like this...
03:37Yeah, I know.
03:37This guy does do it every time.
03:38I know.
03:39It looks great.
03:41Hey, Katie.
03:41What's going on?
03:42Hey, Ken.
03:43Sorry to bother you.
03:43I know you're busy.
03:45But I just got off a call with a guy named John from Los Angeles.
03:49He says his family inherited a bunch of T-206 cars, and he has a home as Wagner.
03:56It's not real.
03:58Every single time we get a Wagner that is not graded, it's a reprint.
04:02But let me...
04:03No, no.
04:04Is that you texting me?
04:05Okay, hold on.
04:06I just sent you the pictures.
04:08Oh, they've got this framed with a whole bunch of other cards that were not reprints.
04:13Hold on.
04:13Let me zoom in on this Wagner.
04:16Whoa.
04:17Oh, my God.
04:18Katie, this looks legit.
04:19I need you to book me a flight to L.A. right now.
04:23And I mean now.
04:24Okay.
04:24Unfortunately, Logan and I didn't get the T-206 Honus Wagner.
04:29Wow.
04:29And all of a sudden, an unknown Honus Wagner comes out of the blue and drops itself in
04:35my lap.
04:36I'm pumped.
04:38Laura, I need you to do me a favor.
04:39When they were done, I needed to drive them home.
04:43A guy in L.A. might have a real Wagner.
04:46A real one?
04:46A real one, yes.
04:48Okay.
04:48You got to go get that.
04:49Yes, I do.
04:50Laura's going to take you home.
04:51I will be back soon.
04:52Okay.
04:53Thank you, honey.
04:54I'll see you.
04:55Good luck.
04:55Yep.
04:56Party time.
04:57Dad's gone.
04:58Ooh.
04:59Ooh.
05:00Let's go.
05:02Every step, you can count on me, on me.
05:05Every step, you can follow me.
05:07Action, action.
05:08Quit lapsing, lapsing.
05:09Eyes on the target, flashing.
05:11Stick to the tactics.
05:12Never fall back.
05:12Do it.
05:13Just like a crack.
05:15Does any of you guys know what this is?
05:17Is it Darth Vader?
05:18I don't know what that is.
05:18That's right.
05:19Darth Vader.
05:20There's only two in the world.
05:21It's a 1977 Kenner Fur Shop, Darth Vader, Dullo telescoping lightsaber mushroom tip.
05:29What's that?
05:30Mushroom tip?
05:30Mushroom tip.
05:32Like it says that on the slab?
05:33Yes.
05:34Okay.
05:35It's very, very, very, very slight.
05:36Okay.
05:37I mean, think of a mushroom tip.
05:38Yeah.
05:38He's thinking of one.
05:40Look at that.
05:42You see it right at the bottom of the stick?
05:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:44You see the little tip?
05:45No, it's a nice mushroom tip.
05:46Ryan, Carla, what do you guys got going on?
05:48A couple meetings today.
05:49Got a big mint package coming in, so that's always fun.
05:51Always a good one.
05:51Always fun.
05:52Yeah.
05:52Nice.
05:53I mean, you guys, I've been talking about this Caitlin Clark card now, right?
05:55I'm fired up.
05:56It's her first big card in an Indiana Fever uniform.
06:00Oh, my gosh.
06:01People have been waiting for the WNBA to pop for years.
06:03I remember 10 years ago, we tried to do something with WNBA players.
06:07Money just wasn't there, so we kind of, you know, moved on.
06:09But I don't know.
06:10I mean, I think we're going to see a six-figure sale from Caitlin Clark soon enough, man.
06:14Caitlin Clark changed the landscape of women's basketball.
06:18The Caitlin Clark effect is real.
06:20She has transcended women's basketball, and she's just taken off.
06:25In the NBA and in the 70s, the league was tanking, right?
06:29It wasn't popular, and here comes Bird and Magic, and they pretty much saved the NBA.
06:35She kind of is doing the same thing.
06:36Now they're flying private.
06:38They're selling out stadiums.
06:39The league is becoming profitable.
06:41I'm a fan.
06:41We're all fans.
06:42And you see it in the cards.
06:43Her cards are exploding.
06:46I'm thrilled to be a part of it.
06:47Just a little part of it, but I absolutely love it.
06:49You know, my boy hit it, John Greco out of Chicago.
06:52He can sign it with me.
06:53I got to do right by him.
06:54And, you know, we think it's going to be her first six-figure card, man.
06:57It's got the potential.
06:59Johnny Greco and I, you know, we go back.
07:01It actually, our families go back.
07:03He's hardworking.
07:04His family crushed it.
07:05They own food distribution in Chicago, which is not easy to do.
07:09I have a lot of respect for John and the Greco family.
07:11He's a friend, man.
07:12He's a lot familiar.
07:12He's my paisan.
07:14Yo, Carlo, you ready to go?
07:15We got the card right here.
07:16I'm ready.
07:16We're going to do the video on the Caitlyn Clark right now.
07:18Let's do it right now.
07:19You guys mind?
07:19I'm going to do it.
07:20I'm going to do it right here.
07:20Get out of here.
07:21All right, all right.
07:22Get out of here to get a coffee.
07:23You want to get me a coffee or something?
07:24Yes, I will get it for you.
07:26Oh, baby.
07:27This thing is sick.
07:29I'm the reason why the fire burning.
07:31Who I'm supposed to pass the torch to.
07:33Many men are turning many men.
07:34So don't you get too close.
07:35I just might scorch you.
07:40Ultimate power.
07:42Bow down and get the power.
07:47Ken.
07:48Hey, John.
07:49Hey.
07:49Good to meet in person.
07:50So nice to meet you.
07:52My name is John Abrams, and I'm from Los Angeles.
07:55The Shields family are Dennis and Doug Shields.
08:00Dennis and Doug are brothers.
08:03Ken, welcome Dennis Shields.
08:05Dennis, nice to meet you.
08:06You too.
08:06Douglas Shields, nice to meet you.
08:07Douglas, nice to meet you.
08:09Dennis went to elementary school with my Uncle Mike,
08:12and they were lifelong friends, played sports together,
08:15and then ultimately Dennis married Mike's sister, my aunt.
08:20It's a family affair.
08:21I sit right in front of Honus.
08:23Can you believe it?
08:25This is just ridiculous.
08:33So where would you like to begin?
08:34I thought I knew of every single legitimate T206 Honus Wagner,
08:43but let me just, let me just, oh, wow.
08:47Here we go.
08:49I mean, this is, I mean, look, you guys have made my year.
08:53Seeing these cards in person, not only the Wagner, but everything else,
08:57all the Ty Cobb cards, to me, this is the biggest discovery in the hobby in the past 50 years.
09:03So I don't understand how this happened.
09:07I'd love to hear the story.
09:09Our grandfather had a silver manufacturing plant in Taunton, Massachusetts,
09:15and he decided he would come out to the West Coast and create a West Coast branch of it.
09:19Grandpa liked to decorate the offices with all this stuff that he's owned all of his life.
09:25He loved to be able to walk through his offices and see all the stuff that he collected as kids sitting on the walls.
09:33The story behind the Wagner and why it's so rare, it is part of a set of trading cards that were issued and inserted into tobacco.
09:43Honus Wagner, he did not want to encourage kids to collect cards with advertisements of cigarette companies on the back.
09:52So he had his card removed.
09:55A few of them escaped.
09:57Your grandfather at 10 years old is exactly why Honus Wagner wanted his card pulled.
10:04That's the...
10:05And then at some point, they moved out of downtown L.A., and they got a larger warehouse in the city of commerce.
10:14The warehouse, over 200,000 square feet.
10:18There was an area chain link fenced off.
10:21Dennis says, well, you know, there's this box over in the corner.
10:24So, you know, we pop it open, and I'm going through things, and there's birds, and there's airplanes, and I pull this one out, and I go, oh, my God.
10:34Do you have any idea what you have here?
10:38My brother and I have held on to these for years.
10:41It isn't for monetary issue, but it was the sentimental value that our grandfather held on to these things all of his life.
10:49And we held on to it just because we loved him.
10:51I've never been able to trace a Wagner that has stayed in only one family since the day the card came out.
11:03As a kid who is obsessed with it, I mean obsessed with cards, the holy grail of collectibles being in my family was just a spectacular feeling.
11:13I always wanted to prove to everybody that we actually had it.
11:18Unfortunately, my uncles would never bring it out in public.
11:21So, the question I have is, after 115 years, why now?
11:27You know, with the urging of my brother, he finally decided that maybe it was time that we did something with them, you know, pass them on,
11:35and give other people the chance to enjoy them, and to put them out there where they'll be treasured.
11:41They're going to be treasured.
11:42And enjoyed.
11:43I'm going to put you on the spot a little bit.
11:45Sure.
11:46What do you think it's going to get graded?
11:47I think the card, if there is no back damage, is a one.
12:00Whoa.
12:00Amazing.
12:03Almost all T206 Honus Wagners are in low grade.
12:08In fact, a large percentage of them cannot even get a numerical grade because there's something missing or it's altered or restored.
12:16A PSA-1 could be, worst case scenario, $4 million, maybe over $6 million.
12:24Oh.
12:25Getting a numerical grade of PSA-1, in the case of a Wagner, is a pretty good grade.
12:35People dream of finding hidden treasure.
12:40This is going to be an inspiration to everybody who collects anything.
12:43I'm actually getting emotional about it, so.
12:47I'm ecstatic that it's going to be cherished somewhere.
12:51Yes.
12:51Because I think that's how Grandpa felt about these things.
12:55We're on board.
12:57Yep.
12:57We're on board.
12:58This will be worldwide news, but I want to be very, very careful to make sure that we don't spoil it, keep it secret, so nobody knows that the card exists until we bring it to market.
13:12Okay, I'm going to have security pick it up, you know, we're going to take it to PSA, we'll take one of the other, backs off, see how they're adhered, and then get graded.
13:21It is a staggering thing to think about, something that was sitting in a frame in a warehouse, you know, being worth millions of dollars.
13:29It is absolutely life-changing money.
13:31Would you mind taking a photo?
13:33We really believe that with Golden telling the story, bringing in the right group of collectors, that will be even more valuable than the monetary gain here.
13:49We're on a mission to find them.
13:53Just when you think you've seen everything, this is going to set out a whole new wave of people searching their attics.
14:00People looking through old books, people going through basements, grandparents, thank Ken Golden.
14:07You're going to see your grandkids you may not have seen for years.
14:10Their search for hidden treasure is on.
14:16Damn, I love this job.
14:18Success is anything that you strive for.
14:20You put in your grind, then you grind more.
14:23Accomplish your goals, then you find more.
14:25And you don't need the rest if you want to be the best.
14:28All right, so, Carla, you know, I'm thinking 45 seconds to a minute long.
14:31Just talk about her.
14:31She's on fire.
14:32Absolutely.
14:33Give me a smile.
14:34And whenever you're ready.
14:36This is the one everyone was talking about.
14:38Caitlin Clark, the 2024 Select Gold Final 101.
14:42We had a PSA 1010.
14:44It's got a perfect auto.
14:46This Caitlin Clark rookie card is available now at Golden.com.
14:49If you want it, don't wait your turn.
14:52None of this is given.
14:53Everything is earned.
14:58Morning, Ken.
14:59How are you?
15:00I'm doing good, Adam.
15:01What's going on?
15:02Well, I saw the numbers for last week's auction.
15:04Looks like business is still on fire.
15:06No, business is good.
15:08The modern card market has really picked up.
15:11And we'll keep gaining market share, which is what we want to do.
15:14On the eBay side, it feels like the European market's really booming.
15:18Seeing trading cards taking off there in a way I've never seen before.
15:21Did I ever expect to be part of eBay?
15:25No, I never expected.
15:27They're looking to give Golden a platform to let us grow as big as humanly possible.
15:35We have shared ideals.
15:36We have the same passion for collectors and collectibles.
15:40And we just want to grow the business together.
15:42We know the best buyers, you know, in terms for basketball internationally, you know, is still going to be Asia.
15:49I was actually just talking with our Japan team last night, Ken.
15:52And they were talking to me through a number of opportunities in that market.
15:57Have you ever had the chance to get out there?
15:59I have never been anywhere in Asia in my life.
16:03In fact, the farthest I've ever traveled has been Monaco.
16:06Well, when I was talking to our Japanese team out there, they were telling me they've got a ton of whale buyers and sellers that are queuing up to meet the King of Collectibles.
16:16Oh.
16:17We'll have to see when that can happen.
16:19Well, I would love it, Ken, if you could do a trip out there as soon as possible.
16:24We should strike while the iron's hot.
16:25Going to Japan soon?
16:28This is legitimately my first major business trip with eBay.
16:34It's a little pressure because I don't know what they're expecting, but whatever it is, I have to deliver.
16:40Hey, everybody. How we doing?
16:41Hey, G.
16:41So I just got off a call, and with the Otani sale, which obviously blew away our expectations, the consignors' expectations, but also got a lot of major media, and the winners, of course, were in Asia.
16:59The underbidders, of course, were in Asia.
17:02The one market that is as big as the U.S., big as North America and Collectibles, is Asia, obviously, with baseball, with Pokemon, and so many other things.
17:12So the key is, we know the market's there.
17:15Let's bring Golden to them.
17:17Golden is going to Japan.
17:19Wow.
17:20What?
17:20Japan?
17:21I love that.
17:22I want to do it big.
17:24I want $2 million in consignments in Tokyo.
17:28I'm going to be learning as much as I can about Japanese culture.
17:31That means it's on you guys to hit that minimum.
17:35Ryan, what can you hook up?
17:37I mean, Mint's out there, so they're one of our biggest clients, period.
17:40100%.
17:41Mint is one of my biggest and best clients.
17:44I've been working with them since I first started this company.
17:47I know we've talked about it before, but the trophy set, and if you would be open to letting those go.
17:52And I know we've had an amazing relationship over Zoom calls and emails and phone calls,
17:57but being face-to-face with your best clients is just a different animal.
18:00And the fact that they know who I am, I have to be out in Japan.
18:05If you've got any great ideas, have any key clients, hit up Katie.
18:10She'll make a list.
18:11I've got to get going.
18:13Sayonara, bitches.
18:14Woo!
18:15Let's go!
18:15Running up a check, that's a big flex.
18:19Diamonds on my neck, that's a big flex.
18:22Cash on deck, all set.
18:24Better come, come, wreck, deck, step, boost, step.
18:28Roll up with a battery in the rose bar.
18:30The Kaitlyn Clark card that John hit, it's up for auction.
18:37He hit me up, he wants to come see me.
18:39I'm pumped to see him talk about the card, talk about the auction.
18:42Love seeing John.
18:44John.
18:45What's up, man?
18:46How's the family?
18:47Good, man.
18:47How about you?
18:47How's the kids?
18:48How's the wife?
18:48Buddy's good.
18:49Good, man.
18:50I, uh...
18:50Still married?
18:51Yeah, I'm hanging in there.
18:52There you go.
18:54What's going on?
18:55I mean, you know your family, and I don't ever want to offend you.
18:58Okay.
18:59You know, I want to do this face-to-face.
19:00We got to talk.
19:01The Clark.
19:02Okay.
19:03For CC.
19:04But there was another offer on the table.
19:06Private offer?
19:07Private offer.
19:08Okay.
19:09Um, what are we talking about number-wise?
19:12I was offered $120,000.
19:14That's pretty good.
19:15It's not a bad deal.
19:17I get why John's nervous.
19:18You know, we think it's a six-figure card.
19:20It's sitting there in the 30s with only two days left.
19:23I totally get it.
19:24But I'm optimistic.
19:25This is the way the auction world works.
19:26I was hoping it'd be a little bit higher by now.
19:28I'm not gonna lie, right?
19:29But, uh, I mean, John, you know, we got to believe in the auction.
19:32There's still 48 hours left.
19:34I know it's not looking good now, but these things go crazy at the end.
19:37You know that.
19:38I'm getting a little nervous, I'll be honest with you.
19:39Like, what exactly are you looking for?
19:41I'm asking you from a family to a family.
19:44You just want me to pull the card.
19:48I know it's something I don't want to do.
19:51I believe in you.
19:52I believe in this auction.
19:53I believe in Golden.
19:55But, uh, I don't know, man.
19:56It's just something.
19:57I don't know if I can pass this up.
19:59Um, you know, look, obviously, if I could do anything for anyone, it would be you.
20:04You've done so much for me over the years.
20:06But we have the contract.
20:07We have the agreement.
20:08I can't pull the card, you know?
20:11I mean, Ken, I just, I know how, you know how we operate.
20:13We'll grow some balls and ask the guy.
20:16The plug like La Cosa Nostra.
20:25I just made money laying on my sofa.
20:28My name is John Resnikoff, and I'm the chief authenticator at Golden.
20:33There he is.
20:34Hey, hey, hey.
20:35How are you?
20:36Long time no see.
20:37Good to see you.
20:37It's been a while.
20:38Yeah.
20:39I get a call from my friend Jack.
20:40He's like the biggest mob collector in the country.
20:43I think he's reached out with something in his pocket that's really good.
20:47This place is beautiful.
20:49It's really, really interesting.
20:50Like a throwback.
20:51Right.
20:51My buddy owns it.
20:52He said we could use it before it opened up.
20:54Did you see the name of it?
20:55The Auction House.
20:56How appropriate is that?
20:58It's perfect.
20:59My name is Jack Lepic, and I collect Mafia memorabilia.
21:03So this one, I know you've seen before because I got it from you.
21:06Yeah, this I recognize.
21:08Al Capone, it's very fancy napkin.
21:11When it comes to my Mafia collection, I'm not really comfortable with people touching it or consigning it.
21:18John is the only guy I will allow to consign my memorabilia.
21:22This is a personal photograph from Meyer Lansky's collection.
21:26Are you familiar with Meyer Lansky?
21:27Of course.
21:29Yeah, the mob accountant.
21:30Exactly.
21:31And in this photo, you can see Meyer Lansky standing there in the back.
21:35His wife, Teddy, right there.
21:37But the most interesting part of this photo is this lady is Bugsy Siegel's wife.
21:42No way.
21:43Right.
21:44And obviously what's crazy about that is Meyer Lansky is responsible for the death of Bugsy Siegel right through the eye.
21:51So clearly she didn't know that if she's sitting here with him after the fact.
21:55That's incredible.
21:55I think that's a really, really good item and the story is just fantastic.
22:00What else you got there?
22:01I know you're going to really like this because you're such a big fan of the film.
22:03This is an original script from Godfather 1, the opening scene.
22:09I love it.
22:10Here.
22:11Bonasera, what have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully?
22:16It's fantastic.
22:16This is really great.
22:19One of the greatest movies of all time.
22:20I think this would do $20,000 to $30,000 in auction.
22:24Wow.
22:24Just a couple pages of the script.
22:26Positively.
22:27It's so collected.
22:28Everybody wants it.
22:28I'd like to assign all these items with you.
22:32All right.
22:33All right.
22:34Thanks.
22:34Now, there's one thing I did bring to show you, but I want to be clear.
22:40This is just so I could show off to you.
22:41I get knocked down, but I get back up.
22:46The definition of a true warrior.
22:49I'm a pure assassin.
22:50Better check the coroner.
22:52I've never been able to break a contract before.
22:55I'm willing to have a conversation, but I just, I don't want to, I don't want to set
22:59unrealistic expectations.
23:01Let me talk to Ken.
23:02I'll give you a call.
23:03Just see what we can do.
23:04You've got to do me a favor on this one.
23:06I don't think it's something we can pass up.
23:08All right, let me, um, let me talk to Ken, and, um, I'll give you a call, John, all right?
23:12Appreciate it.
23:12I love you, brother.
23:13Thanks.
23:13I'll talk to you soon, man.
23:18I'm just in a lose-lose here, because in all my time here at Golden, I've never pulled
23:23a card.
23:24I've never brought it up.
23:25I've never thought about it.
23:26I know we don't do that, but John's a family friend.
23:29This is different for me.
23:31He's got a great offer on the card, much higher than where it's at now, and I'm going to bite
23:36the bullet.
23:36I'm going to talk to Ken.
23:38I'm going to knock it back up.
23:40Hey, Ken.
23:41Take a seat in one sec.
23:44Jared, you are a lifesaver.
23:46This is going to be incredible.
23:48I look forward to seeing you in Tokyo.
23:50Thanks, buddy.
23:51Appreciate it.
23:51How's it going, Ken?
23:53It's going good.
23:54I just got us a, uh, location for everything in Tokyo, so I'm very pumped about that.
23:59Okay, that's huge.
23:59What's going on?
24:00I, um, look, you remember John Greco with the Caitlin Clark card?
24:04Of course.
24:04Our families go back a couple generations.
24:06Like, we're tight.
24:07We're boys.
24:08Um, it's not going so well right now in auction.
24:11He's just got a $120,000 private offer.
24:14Mm-hmm.
24:14This would set the all-time Caitlin Clark high right now, and it's just hard when it's like
24:19a family friend, you know?
24:20And I'm just, I don't know what to tell this guy.
24:22Like, I don't want to lose the relationship, but I know we can't pull it.
24:26I just, I'm kind of stuck on this one.
24:29Okay, well, obviously we're not going to be in a position where we have people bid on an
24:35item and say, hey, I wonder if this item is going to be pulled, you know, before the
24:40final day because they're not happy with the price.
24:42You know, people have confidence in Golden.
24:45We are the most trusted name in high-end collectibles.
24:49This is how we got there.
24:51You've got to have confidence in yourself.
24:53You've got to have confidence in the process.
24:55I know that you know the right answer.
24:57You always do the right thing, and you always get the job done.
25:02Carlo is coming to me about potentially pulling an item, but he knows we can't do that.
25:08The integrity of Golden, the sanctity of the auctions, and the trust that people have with
25:13the process, you know, beats any amount of money.
25:16You've got to separate friends and family from business.
25:21This is consigner angst.
25:23It happens all the time.
25:25I've got confidence in the Caitlin Clark market.
25:28I think that she is incredibly special.
25:30I think this is a big card.
25:32I think this card can set a record.
25:34So, relax.
25:37Calm yourself down.
25:38I expected to walk in there and be like, why are you telling me this?
25:41Get out.
25:42Go do your job.
25:43But, you know, listen, man.
25:44When you get the human, it's really nice.
25:46Usually you get the machine, right?
25:47You get Ken the machine, Ken the businessman.
25:50Give him a call.
25:51Okay.
25:52Talk him off the consigner cliff.
25:54Let him know the auction doesn't end until the clock runs out.
26:00All right.
26:05I want to be clear.
26:06Because I know who you are.
26:08I'm not selling it.
26:09Me?
26:09This is a gun, Colt 41, that was once owned by Al Capone.
26:18Get the hell out of here.
26:20So, the story is Al Capone used to vacation in Wisconsin.
26:26And there was this resort owned by Bill Sells and his wife.
26:29Bill Sells actually introduced Al Capone to some bootleggers at one point.
26:33So, they became friendly and one time Al Capone shows up to the resort with this gun
26:40and asks Bill Sells to keep it at the resort for him in case anything were to go down.
26:46Because I know you're going to ask, how do you know?
26:49But if you look at these photographs, you can clearly see Al Capone holding that gun.
26:54That is incredible.
26:57I mean, he's holding the gun.
26:58That's remarkable, Jack.
27:00That is remarkable.
27:02But let's talk about it a little bit.
27:03Obviously, I have to vet it.
27:05I have to make sure it's the right thing.
27:07I'm pretty sure it is.
27:08But there's no way I'm leaving without the gun.
27:11He knows it.
27:12I know it.
27:14We've known each other for a long time.
27:16I know you don't want to sell it, but I'm just curious.
27:19Tell me what you paid for it.
27:22What did you pay for that watch?
27:24Not that much.
27:25Around six figures.
27:27Listen, I know the price history of Al Capone guns.
27:32And there was one at an auction in California that is not photo ID'd.
27:38That was supposedly one of his favorite guns.
27:40And that sold for a million.
27:41And the difference between photo ID'd and not photo ID'd is a universe.
27:47It's enormous.
27:49I mean, this is everything right here.
27:52What if I told you that I think I could get you a million dollars for this gun?
28:00A million dollars.
28:03Oh, man.
28:07For real?
28:08For real.
28:09When you talk like that, it's like now, you know, I've always, you know, wanted to be mortgage-free.
28:17You know, that's a dream.
28:19And if I could get a million dollars, I don't want to sell it.
28:22Is there a way to guarantee that I would get close to that?
28:26My fear is I've auctioned other stuff in the past and I have this idea of what I'm going to get.
28:31And then it doesn't come close to that.
28:33We want this.
28:34Mm-hmm.
28:34And we want to make you comfortable.
28:37I'd love to be responsible for helping to pay off your mortgage.
28:41Obviously, I'm going to give it my incredible scrutiny that I do for every item that I authenticate.
28:45But the fact that you have photos of him holding this gun, that really helps.
28:51We'll definitely go through it the way that we do with everything as far as proving that it's authentic before we sell it.
28:57But there's no way that I can guarantee you that it's going to sell for a million.
29:03Jack's my buddy, and I know he's a little bit on the fence on consigning it.
29:12And I know he's looking to get seven figures.
29:16I have an idea that I think is going to push him over the edge.
29:19I happen to know of a situation where a guy purchased Jack Ruby's gun.
29:27He bought it for $250,000.
29:30He took Jack Ruby's gun and he fired 5,000 bullets.
29:37And he made these beautiful presentations.
29:39And those have sold for, on average, a couple thousand apiece.
29:44Hear me out.
29:44I want to get ammunition for the gun, and I want to fire a limited amount of bullets from the gun
29:50and sell them, a limited edition bullets fired from Al Capone's gun.
29:56This is a separate deal from the auction.
29:57I think that could generate a million dollars.
30:00I think that's an amazing idea.
30:03I mean, I'm just picturing early on collectors like myself who want a conversation piece,
30:08can't afford something like this.
30:10I think an Al Capone bullet would be very, very good to start their collection.
30:15I would have never thought of that.
30:17That's why you're the man.
30:18Let's do it, man. I'm ready. Let's rock.
30:20That changes everything.
30:22You're taking an item and getting another item out of it.
30:24Several items out of it.
30:25And then you sell the gun.
30:28Yeah, you've convinced me.
30:29I will let you consign the gun.
30:34You're the man.
30:35You better be the man.
30:37I'm going to do it.
30:37He's good, man. He's good.
30:40He convinced me to sign the Al Capone gun,
30:43something I said I wouldn't do until retirement.
30:45And I got the gun, the bullets? Are you kidding me?
30:48That kind of pushed it over the edge.
30:50I mean, I've never heard of that before.
30:51I'm excited. I'm excited.
30:53I only do this with you. You do know that, right?
30:55That's great. I do know that. I know.
30:57I won't disappoint. I promise.
30:58You broke me down, buddy.
30:59Good morning, Dennis.
31:16Hey, John. Hey, Mike. How you doing?
31:17Hey, Ken.
31:18Thank you guys for joining me today.
31:20It's a hot day in New Jersey,
31:22and I've got some hot news for you guys.
31:26All right. Give it to us. We're excited.
31:27Getting any numerical grade on a Wagner is a big deal.
31:33The difference between authentic and a one is millions.
31:37With this card, a one is wonderful.
31:40We took the card to PSA.
31:43They have confirmed the card is 100% authentic.
31:46Awesome, Ken.
31:47Fantastic.
31:47We are going to call this the Shields Wagner.
31:52So your grandfather is going to be known in the hobby forever
31:58for having this historic collection
32:02and being a pioneer of the trading card industry.
32:06Well, that's great.
32:08So, Ken, have they rated the card?
32:11Here's where we are.
32:13PSA awarded it a numerical grade,
32:16so we got a PSA 1 on the card.
32:20And because of the history, because of the pedigree,
32:22we could be looking at $5, $6 million.
32:25No, f***ing one.
32:26Are you kidding me?
32:27Oh, my goodness.
32:28That's fantastic.
32:30That would easily annihilate the record for any PSA 1,
32:33so congratulations.
32:34This Wagner is more than just a card.
32:38It is a piece of American history.
32:40It is a family history.
32:43Never before in my industry
32:45have you been able to trace the origin to the card
32:49right to the person who opened up the packs and found it,
32:53and it stayed in the family for 115 years.
32:57Never happened.
32:58Definitely will never happen again.
33:00This is just, uh, incredibly exciting.
33:02I am pumped for you.
33:04I am pumped for the hobby.
33:06PSA is very excited.
33:07They have agreed the card is actually
33:10not going to hit their population report
33:12until we come out and we announce the auction.
33:14It is going to be part of a special auction
33:17where we have all the cards from the Shields collection
33:20and give people a chance to own a piece of history.
33:25Wow.
33:26I am proud to represent this collection.
33:29I am proud to represent your family.
33:31We're gonna kick butt together.
33:32Well done.
33:33Well done.
33:34Ken, where are the bags of cash?
33:37We're glad you're on our side.
33:39Thank you, guys.
33:40Have a great one.
33:42Woo!
33:51Here's to, uh, here's to a big auction close tonight.
33:54Cheers, brother.
33:55Carlito.
33:56Carlito.
33:57Carlito.
33:57Carlito.
34:01This is it.
34:01It's auction night.
34:02I am locked in on this Caitlin Clark card.
34:05There's a lot on the line here.
34:06I know John's probably freaking out.
34:08You know, everything happens late.
34:09I know I just gotta hang in there.
34:11It's been busy as heck the last couple hours.
34:13Are you guys feeling the same way with your lots?
34:15It's been going really good.
34:16Carlito, remember, you obviously remember Josh Dawson, bro.
34:18Is that the PSA 10 exquisite?
34:19PSA 10, yeah.
34:20Oh, not an exquisite, yeah.
34:21I mean, he actually won it, like, around 150.
34:23It's already at 140 before, you know, we have hours and hours left.
34:26So we're sitting really pretty right now.
34:28Carlo, the Caitlin Clark WNBA rookie card, how are we looking, man?
34:34It's not looking good at all.
34:37The card's in the final stretch.
34:39It's still in the low five figures.
34:40It's not where I want it to be.
34:42I'm starting to get a little bit nervous.
34:47Trying to be a big boy about this.
34:48I'm calling John.
34:49I'm FaceTiming him.
34:50Come on, man.
34:52He's not picking the phone up.
34:53He just stood.
34:57He just, he, he, he, he ignored me right away.
34:59So it was clearly on his phone.
35:00Jeez.
35:01I mean, dude, this is not good.
35:06He gave me a shot at this because of our relationship and.
35:09It always makes it even worse, right?
35:10When it's like the, the friendship is, is tied to it.
35:13You know, John's a friend.
35:15I advised him to turn down a strong offer to go to auction.
35:18John wanted me to pull it.
35:19I told him I couldn't do it.
35:21This is the worst part of the job.
35:24Given my relationship with him, it's just an awful feeling.
35:26I know he's not happy.
35:35They can hate, but it's cool, wish them well.
35:38Looking at the best, you can tell.
35:40You know, he the champ, fight night with the bells.
35:43Now the trophy, need a man so I can set it on.
35:47Hey, I gotta get it, gotta go now.
35:49Put the work in and the phone down.
35:51Yeah, I'm him, that's my pro now.
35:54This you didn't know, well, you know now.
35:56Undefeated.
35:57Undefeated.
35:59Yeah, I'm me.
35:59Make a final, take the title, we'll repeat it.
36:01I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:04I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:06I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:07I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:08I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:08I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:09I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:10I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:10I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:11I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:12I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:12I'm going to be a fan of the game.
36:13I'm going to be a fan of the game.
