00:00There's a couple of guys here who are deciding what to do next with their careers.
00:04I know you probably don't want to get into the specifics of those discussions,
00:06but what have you kind of learned over the years as you're, like,
00:08guiding these guys into one of the most important decisions of their life?
00:11Yeah, it is. It is an important decision.
00:13I mean, the guys that make the right decision, no matter what that is,
00:16I mean, they get a leg up on, you know, kind of the rest of their life,
00:20and consequently a wrong decision can be catastrophic.
00:23And, I mean, that's just the world that kind of we all live in with this.
00:26So, yeah, I try to educate them on the different options.
00:30I don't like telling guys, like, unless they just really press me,
00:34I don't like telling guys you should do this or shouldn't do that.
00:37To me, it's more about, all right, well, here's this option.
00:40Here's what it would look like. Here's the other option.
00:42Here's the things you need to consider.
00:44You know, having done this long enough and been fortunate to have enough guys,
00:47you have so many stories that you can go back on, right, a certain player or a family
00:52or how this decision went.
00:54And we track that, you know, that's something I've always believed in.
00:57Like, we track every conversation we've ever had about the future
01:00with any player since I've been a head coach.
01:03And so, not only can you tell them the story, but then, like, what happened after, you know,
01:07and, like, all right, you know, what did they ultimately decide?
01:10How did that play out?
01:11And I think that's been helpful for our guys.
01:14So, yeah, just try to have good, honest conversations and be up front with them.
01:19And, you know, there's some guys that the decision's pretty clear one way or another
01:23and sometimes you have those ones that are pretty close
01:25and just try to give them as much guidance as we possibly can.
