00:00The European Union Council has renewed its wide-ranging economic sanctions on Russia for another six months,
00:07extending the measures until July 31, 2026.
00:11The sanctions cover sweeping restrictions on trade, finance, energy, technology,
00:16as well as industry, transport and luxury items.
00:20The measures also include a ban on Russian seaborne crude oil and certain petroleum products,
00:25the removal of several Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system
00:29and the suspension of Russia-backed media outlets accused of spreading disinformation.
00:34The EU said the measures will remain in place as long as Russia's actions continue,
00:38adding that further steps could be taken if necessary.
00:42The decision comes as European leaders approved a €90 billion loan package
00:46to support Ukraine's military and economic needs over the next two years.
