A small group of Syrian Christians has begun returning to the village of al-Ghassanyeh in Idlib’s countryside, more than a decade after fleeing violence during Syria’s war. Once home to thousands, only around 20 residents have returned so far to repair damaged homes and rebuild daily life. As Christmas approaches, families say they hope more neighbours will come back, even briefly, to restore a sense of community lost during years of displacement.
